A visit to the National Museum of Cairo is a journey straight into the heart of ancient Egyptian civilization. This remarkable museum offers a rare and unforgettable experience, especially the Royal Mummies Hall, where around 20 royal mummies are preserved and displayed with great care, dignity, and detailed historical context. Each mummy is accompanied by clear descriptions and fascinating stories, allowing visitors to understand not just who these rulers were, but how they lived, ruled, and shaped Egypt’s extraordinary history. Standing face to face with these royal figures feels surreal—powerful, humbling, and deeply moving. Beyond the mummies, the museum houses a rich collection of historical artifacts, including beautifully crafted pottery, intricate jewelry, traditional dress and textile samples, and many other objects that reflect daily life, royal customs, and artistic excellence of ancient Egypt. Every gallery tells a story, making history feel alive rather than distant. This place is a dream for history lovers, but even those who are not students of history will find themselves captivated. Seeing the royal mummies is an experience unlike any other in the world—these royal mummies can only be seen in Egypt, making this museum truly unique and irreplaceable. If you are visiting Cairo, this museum is an absolute must-visit. The ticket price for foreigners is slightly higher, around 600 Egyptian pounds, but the experience is worth every pound. The museum is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and visits should be planned during the daytime, as it is not open at night. The National Museum of Cairo is not just a museum—it is a powerful reminder of why Egypt remains the cradle of one of the world’s greatest civilizations.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC) in Cairo is widely praised for its modern design, educational exhibits, and the unforgettable Royal Mummies Hall. The highlights of the museum include:- Highlights • Royal Mummies Hall – The star attraction, showcasing 22 royal mummies including Ramses II and Hatshepsut. • Comprehensive Timeline – Exhibits cover Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to modern day. • Modern Facilities – Spacious, well‑organized galleries with clear signage and multimedia displays. • Educational Value – Strong focus on learning, with detailed explanations in multiple languages. • Architecture & Location – Sleek, contemporary building overlooking Ain El‑Seera Lake. Not as artifact‑dense as the Egyptian Museum, but excels in presentation and storytelling.

The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is well organized, and the collection they have is impressive. This museum is also where you will find the royal mummies hall. Note photos and videos are not allowed in the hall. Security and entry is efficient. The restaurant inside takes some time, is pricey so I wouldn’t recommend unless it is for a small snack that doesn’t require prep. Other than that I highly recommend visiting this museum.

Worth visiting..the Royal Mummies display is amazing. The rest of the museum is a journey through different eras from prehistoric till mid 1900 the arfacts are well presented. While being there make sure to pass by the shoping center it is near to the cars parking spots.. i found few shops (4) not overpriced and offer good sovinears perfumes and even traditional sweets packed..i bought few ..worth checking. For reservation you can do it either on line or on site. As usual if you are visiting try during week days as in weekends can be crowded

One of my favorites when I come with guests. Small but comprehensive, extraordinarily well arranged and maintained. The mummy exhibition is a place of dignity, history and remembrance. This place is touching. A must see in Cairo!

Incredible museum. Seeing a 35,000 year old human bones is incredible. The farming tools that ancient civilization used are also on display. It's a brilliant museum that goes through the history of Egypt from the Pharoahs to the Romans to the Ottomans. In the lower level they have the mummies of the ROYALS. Including all 4 Ramises & even Queen Ohmose Nefertari mummy. It is incredible the skin lips & hair are still on these mummies. I was surprised at how small these ancient people were. My hand is bigger than Queen Nefertari whole head. Its a little creepy but still breathtaking. I was very fascinated by the astrological clock. From the 8th century. I was thinking about the bell tower Astrological clock in PRAGUE SQUARE AS I LEARNED ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THIS PARTICULAR ASTROLOGICAL CLOCK. You can find more videos from my trip through EGYPT on my YouTube channel @jealousmuchlol

Come’on people. This is probably the most important museum in Cairo. After all your adventures at Giza Pyramids, Luxor’s valley of the kings, Mortuary temple of Hatshepsut etc. This is the where you can see the royal mummies of these important characters of their temples of worship or tombs. Ramses II, Ramses III, Hatshepsut and more mummies are HERE live. Though you can’t take pictures or have your guide in with you. This place will complete the story telling of your Egypt visit. And of course the big hall of historic artifacts to explain civilization living in the past.

Excellent place! No crowds at all. This is the home to 22 Pharoah Mummies. Little hidden "GEM" that doesn't get nearly enough attention! We loved it here. Also nice view from the coffee shop, lake etc. We spent the whole afternoon here.
