Traveler, if your steps take you to our lands, it wouldn't hurt if you also visited these locations, the village museum and the museum of the Romanian peasant.
You will be pleasantly impressed by the tranquility and beauty of the area, look and contemplate that everything has a beginning.
Good journey!!!

Interesting, cheap but looked to still be moving into its new home. Staff friendly and helpful, but could do with more signage.

It felt like a waste of time tbh.
The building is big and beautiful, but the space inside is not utilized even near to its potential.
There are some exhibitions in the back, which were also not the best, but still better than the actual museum.
The notmal entrance ticket for adults was 12 RON.

Smaller exhibition in grand building. Cost 12 lei. You can leave bags with the front desk staff. Toilets in basement. Takes less than an hour. One exhibition open when I was there. Fascinating for the entire house rebuilt in one room, and for examples of very well kept (or replica?) Romanian folk costume. Either way some very accomplished stitching and patterning. Check out costume photos for the forerunner of QR codes and bar codes 😄

Unusual museum, badly laid out but with some hidden treasures.
Almost no signs for the museum on surrounding streets, we came from the west and had some trouble finding the entrance on the east side.
The main gallery has a small collection of wooden crosses and carved doors, plus an entire wooden peasant's cottage bought in 1909. The space is too large for the few exhibits, and they're is no information on English. Many of the pieces and photos have no information at all, but my impression was that this gallery is largely devoted to the museum's original founder, rather than to Romanian Peasant culture. Most of the info panels are quotations from a publication of his from 1936. I did not find the man interesting enough to justify so many photos of him and quotations by him, but I admit that I don't speak the language.
The exhibition continues on the ground floor, with an entry that is inside the cafeteria and also has no signposts. Here there is another big gallery that is under filled, but on the walls are some superb tapestries mixing traditional techniques with modern themes, and also a room full of beautiful traditional girls' blouses. These two galleries were worth the visit on their own.
The ladies who met us in each gallery were extremely helpful, keen to help us get the most out of the visit, and they really added to our enjoyment of the exhibit.
Overall, a poorly laid out and abysmally signposted museum which has some hidden treasures and staff who make up for the lack of competence of the exhibition designers

The museum staff is helpful and takes care of you, but the works exhibited in the museum are quite limited. The works exhibited here are insufficient to reflect the cultural richness of Romania. There are only a few types of clothes of Romanian peasants. However, the richness of the clothes could have been reflected. Romania also has a rich culture in terms of rugs. However, only a few rugs are exhibited in the museum. The museum needs to be developed further. However, the museum has a warm atmosphere.

Beautiful museum, partially open, cheap ticket (12 lei) with many historical landmarks. In the price of the ticket you can also visit 2 temporary exhibition found in the back of the building. Also here you can find a souvenir shop and a market with artistic items, traditional items and some food stands. The staff could be a little more cooperative.

Unfortunately is still under renovation and so only a small part of the museum is open. Still is quite interesting, even though it is missing English text scripts.
There was also a small market at the front which need a separate ticket to enter. It includes a few number of stalls with traditional Romanian products.
Please keep in mind that the museum will be closed in the Easter week.
