An adult ticket will cost you 20 RON. I visited on 05/10/25 and the top floor(s?) were closed because of apparent renovations. From what I was told, the upper section of the museum holds gold and other items from the National treasury, so it was a shame that it’s not open at the moment. On the ground floor there is a basic collection of various traditional things- icons, painted eggs, costumes, liturgical objects, and the remains of an abandoned church. On the exterior grounds there is another church and a few more structures to look at. Interestingly enough, on the side of the museum, you can see a very large mosaic which I suppose is a remnant from the Ceaușescu era. There is also a gift shop with many unique items, featuring racks upon racks of traditional handmade costumes for you to buy. Worth a look! All in all, even with the closures, I would say it is worth it for the 20 RON fee, and I enjoy contributing to a place that is focused on the preservation of this nation’s colorful history, culture and traditions.

Make sure you take cash of try to buy the tickets online. As of 28/12/2025 it costs 20ron/person and we were told that the pos is not working. If you are wondering around Bucharest and have at least 2h to spend then this place is totally worth it. Be aware that only a few traditional houses are opened and you can see their interior through the window.

On Monday and Tuesday there are only six houses that are open so tickets are half price. Still enough to occupy you for a few hours. Lots of cats around which makes photos more interesting. Worth a visit.

It is located in a very beautiful building that immediately catches your eye and makes you curious to see what's inside. Unfortunately, the interior did not meet my expectations, the collection was quite small compared to the building's impressive exterior and the name it carries. I hope they improve it in the future.

Loved every minute of it! If you want to experience Romanian culture and embroidery, this is the place to visit. The museum shop is a true gem, and the restaurant is excellent as well.

This is a very good museum with lots to see but a few minor points. There are QR codes throughout the museum; however when you scan a code you come to a Romanian webpage with no translation opportunity. There were, however, information sheets in each of the rooms so that you could get some ideas about the items. But the QR codes were available on most items, which would have been useful. There were not many people in, and there was no queue.

If you are so lucky to visit Bucharest you MUST visit this museum. When you not only see, but appreciate that so many of the implements on display, the iconography artwork and crosses are HANDMADE by peasants, you will experience a life changing moment. The beauty, the talent, the love for values is breathtaking.

A smaller museum with interesting cultural items showcasing average people. An interesting contrast to the National Palace (separate museum). Allow for two hours; good for adults 15+. Inexpensive.
