Amazing experience. Fabulous food. Each of 6 courses was well thought out. We are not whiskey fans but went with the whiskey pairings and a fun experience with briefings on each item served. This was all about the experience, and they hit a home run. Everyone eats the same menu, but I certainly would not call it family style as some have commented. Our courses included appetizer, shrimp, Chilean grouper, mushroom dish, steak, dessert... plus the whiskey pairings. Chef came out at the end to receive her accolades. Menu changes every 2 weeks. Very casual dining typical of Parkcity, limited seating, no table clothes, or fine utensils. Reservations are highly recommended. Expect $200+ per person if you go with all the options.

Finally took a visit to The Nelson Cottage and was so impressed. While we waited on the porch we were served welcome cocktails and canapés. Then we were escorted by party inside to our tables. Inside you are sat in a rustic cottage, as the name describes. And it is warm and comfortable. You feel like you are dining with friends. Our “Whiskey Ambassador” was fantastic. She was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about every single thing that came out of the kitchen or was poured into our glasses. She, as well as the rest of the service staff were on point. We chose to add the whiskey pairing to our meal and we were thrilled we didn’t skip it. The meal would not have been the same without it. They change the menu seasonally. And I can’t wait to get back in and see what they come up with next!

I probably set my expectations too high and that is on me. The end of the night comment from my wife rings true of how I feel a day later, “That was a pretty joyless experience.” I’ll be fair and limit this to things within their control. Doughy bread, inedible tapioca thing, dry halibut, chewy meat course. Service was notably inconsistent table to table. It’s nit picky I know, our table seemly got the cliff notes version of what came out while other tables got deeper explanations of the dish and suggestions on how to eat it. I appreciated they asked how the food and experience was and had a reaction to my honest response around the 5th course. Despite food flaws, flavor for the pairing was well done. Sound in the dining room only builds on itself. I don’t even what to say other than it was an unpleasant volume that it eventually got to and I just wanted to leave. In the end a sad birthday dinner. 2.5/5

We had an unbelievable tasting experience here. From the presentation to the service, everything was perfection. Each dish brought out offered fresh new flavor combinations that I’ve never tasted before. My husband , brother-in-law and I were visiting from New York for the weekend and were able to snag a last-minute reservation to the tasting. Avid James Beard foundation diners, we were really excited to sit down to a tasting menu after the last two years of not being able to enjoy our usual monthly tasting outing. This dinner was on par with our previous experiences, and we honestly cannot recommend it enough. Worth every single penny. The one thing I did want to mention is that if you opt in for the whiskey pairing, it is not included in the original fee. The planets must have been out of orbit because not only was it not mentioned, but it was brought to our attention that the fee is usually printed on the menu but for some reason our group of menus did not have that. They were very quick and kind to make things right. The additional fee for the pairing is 100% worth it and we will absolutely opt in for it again next time. It was our first but definitely not our last time visiting the Nelson cottage. We can’t wait to go back to Park city in a few months and enjoy the tasting menu here again.

Google
An exceptional dining and whiskey tasting experience. I loved everything about this place. The meal starts with a complimentary cocktail and amuse bouche. Next, a welcome from the whiskey ambassador. Then dive right in to your first of 6 houses with optional whiskey pairing. Each course was creative and delicious. We are not big whiskey fans but we did the whiskey pairing and it was a lot of fun. The menu is prix fixe. I recommend this for any adventurous eaters who are visiting Park City.

This meal was an amazing treat! Every bite blew our minds. Hats off to the people making the food. It was creative, fresh, and presented beautifully. The people serving were absolutely amazing and very knowledgeable about the food and whiskey. Can't wait to go back!

Google
Fantastic experience at the Nelson Cottage. Prix fixe dinner with whiskey pairings was beyond great. We got to try the barrel select American Prairie(finished in Rum barrels) and the Campfire (finished in Tokaj barrels). We also loved the Campfire (in Amaro barrels)and the Encore Dram (in White port barrels). Food was excellent, served family style, and well matched to the whiskey. The monkfish in banana leaves was the best I’ve had-like the best poached lobster ever. We cannot imagine anything but duck now with the campfire (though it went great with dessert as well). An intimate setting suitable for an anniversary or a night with friends. Glad we found this gem of park city.

The Nelson Cottage by High West was by far the greatest dining experience me and my wife have had probably ever. The staff has such great knowledge and is willing to help in any way possible. The food was exquisite and the family style table really brings you out of your comfort zone and aids you in making new friends if only for the evening. It's comfortable and fun, yet quaint and fancy. If you're going to do one nice thing in Park City this is it.

Yelp
We really enjoyed our tasting menu and whiskey pairing at the Nelson Cottage. My husband is a big whiskey fan so he enjoyed the whiskey tastings/pairings the most. I opted out of the whiskey pairing but had some really delicious whiskey cocktails instead. I really enjoyed hearing the history behind High West and learning about the distilleries in Utah. Our host for the evening was very knowledgable and captivated the audience when he spoke. The menu was thoughtful and each dish was beautifully presented. Some dishes were really great, where others were just okay. Thr night we visited, the mains and dessert were better than the starting dishes. Overall it was a fun experience and is worth trying if you're able to score a reservation.

Yelp
If you're a frequent eater in Park City and have not been to NC, make a reservation asap. If you're a visitor and want a wonderful and memorable dining experience, make a reservation asap. Understand, NC is not inexpensive, but compared to your other PC choices/prices, the value is there and I was happy to pay my bill. Know there are no choices and it's a prix fix. You'll receive whatever is on their menu that night, course by course. You'll eat each course the same time as the other tables -- it's a small restaurant. The menu changes every few weeks. A whiskey pairing is optional. Full bar ready for you with multiple signature cocktails. Atmosphere is comfortable, friendly, perfect. The staff makes you feel at home and they work hard to ensure your experience is special. You'll receive top notch service. Each course and every creation the evening we went (there are 5pm and 8pm sittings) was very good; most of my meal was outstanding. There are several other interesting and different (from any other eating establishment in PC) surprises to their protocols that we absolutely loved. A wonderful evening and we will be returning often.

Yelp
I took my husband here for his birthday and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. He's a huge fan of whiskey so this was super fun for him. I'm not, but they have a great wine pairing you can opt for if whiskey isn't your thing. Everyone was super nice and very knowledgeable. Each course was better and better and we didn't leave hungry. We're already planning our next visit!

Yelp
My favorite Park City restaurant! Food, service and ambiance are fantastic! It's not a cheap meal but the 6 course prix fixe + welcome drink feels like a value for what you get. Portions are surprisingly generous too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Matt S.

Yelp
Price fixe menu with whiskey pairing where the menu changes every week! Definitely enjoyed our evening and the food which is both plentiful and enjoyable. You also can order additional drinks and or bring wine for corkage. If you are looking for a unique experience in Park City this is not to be missed cheers!

Yelp
This is the best restaurant in Park City, and there are a lot of great restaurants here. The chef has created a phenomenal menu - world class experience worthy of Chicago or New York. Whiskey pairings are on point. The entire team,m is firing on all cylinders to provide an amazing experience. Wonderful historic atmosphere. Must do this when in town.

Yelp
Dinner The Nelson Cottage by High West @drinkhighwest The environment is comfortable and welcoming. The staff is kind and attentive. The food was fine. The apps that had before dinner were great - smoked trout tartare and the fired goat cheese bites!!! So I really excited about dinner, and it didn't live up the flavors of the passed apps. The crab agnolotti was good but served in way too broth. So the flavors got lost. The curry carrot salad was tasty. Then the fish was over cooked in the next course, the beef was tough and chewy, the Brussels couldn't be tasted due to the ratios of tons of horseradish. It is good place for a large group because everything was timed well, but it is not place I need to go back for.

Bonnie G.

Yelp
Love this place!!! The menu is different every weekend which can be unpredictable, but it seems like any dish is a win. Our menu had the most incredible smoked hummus with homemade focaccia, tender lamb t-bones, creamy shrimp and grits, and a flourless chocolate cake with a campfire and caramel glaze. Had the lemonade whiskey cocktail and the combination of all of this, plus sitting outside with our dogs, was divine. Can't wait to come back and try a whole new menu. 5 stars!!!!

Yelp
this is one of the best dining experiences i have ever had - ate there on june 28 and the menu was fabulous. whiskey pairings were exceptional and the staff and service were incredible. DO NOT MISS THIS WHEN YOU ARE IN PARK CITY.

Yelp
Our Park City host was excited for us to try his favorite place, but we received a call shortly before our reservation that a kitchen problem would prevent dinner service. There were 8 of us, and they accommodated us during COVID with two outdoor tables near each other. We ordered the highly touted large charcuterie, which included salami, calabrese and capicola, a pork pate, a variety of yummy cheeses, pickles, bourbon figs, and some bread and rye crackers. We followed our hosts' lead and asked for extra bread. The board was generous, but not the bread. One at our table tried the whiskey flight. Due to the kitchen issues, we went elsewhere for dinner, but were glad to have visited this little gem,

Yelp
We came with friends to the set menu opening day for the Nelson Cottage. It started with drinks on the deck. They served an amazing cider with high west whiskey . Loved it. We were then seated and the food begin to flow. The artichoke veggie dish and the broccoli dish was delightful. The truffle mac and cheese was a hit! I really enjoyed the dessert that was a Mexican bread puddimg. The veal and fish was not edible to me. The fish was slightly fishy and the veal had a sauce on it that was not very pairing. The drinks were delightful and I would most likey just come here or high west for drinks only. The reason why is me and my friends had the worst stomachache the entire night. I was cramping so bad that I woke up at 2:30 am and was unable to sleep the rest of the day. So I paid a fortune $257.00 for a stomachache .

Yelp
Very poor quality ingredients and preparation . Raw oysters were served on a hot July night that had gone bad . The other dishes that were served were either overcooked and dry or poorly prepared . Extremely small portions that made the whole experience even more awkward . Serves family style and not enough food on the plates for even a child's serving . The whole experience was very uncomfortable topped off by terrible customer service by management . We did reach out to them but have never gotten a response a month later .

Yelp
We hosted a team dinner for an offsite while in Park City and I am so glad we did it at Nelson Cottage! From start to finish, the entire Nelson Cottage team was wonderful. They were responsive and helpful in helping me set up the event and customize the menu and delivered incredible service and food the night of our event. My team still raves about the food, cocktails, whiskey tasting and ambience. I was also impressed at the overall cost relative to other venues around Main Street, especially for the incredible quality of the food and service. We were able to rent out the venue, host a cocktail hour with tray passed apps and enjoy a 4 course plated dinner. The event was perfect and I would absolutely come back for dinner or an event in the future!

Yelp
What an amazing place . Food was spectacular. Service exceptional. Unbelievable place . What a treat

Yelp
This place is special, a not to miss while in Park City. I feel confident it is the best (by a long shot) dining in the area. Family style prefixe (huge portions) with a rotating chef for $80 (steal of a deal!). Given that, I will not majorly go into the food as I am sure it will be different when you attend. The schtick here is the whisky pairing, which was a super fun idea but give our table paid for bottles to the x degree at $60/ pairing I would definitely forego upon my next visit. Worth trying once, not needed twice I would say. That being said, nice cocktail and wine list for your second go around (although unsurprisingly we also added wine on this trip as well). Absolutely love could not recommend more highly.

Yelp
Loved this place! Great concept. A bunch of big communal tables and really good food! They bring appetizers then entree's then desert, food just kept coming and it was amazing. We did the whiskey pairing also, which was a nice addition to our dinner. Service was great. Staff super nice. And ambiance! The kitchen was open and it was fun to watch what was going on in there. There was tons of food to go around, we even had leftovers that they boxed up for us to take home. Great setting, in an old house a couple of doors up from High West Distillery, which we got to tour after dinner. Super fun night. I really like High West Distillery but there is always a wait around dinner time. The awesome part about Nelson Cottage is you can make reservations, have amazing food, service in a great atmosphere. I thought it was well worth the price and would definitely go again.

Yelp
Delicious food served in rustic atmosphere; each course was better than the last. The food is expertly paired by a whiskey tasting. If you're interested in understanding any aspect of whiskey, the entire meal is guided by a whiskey expert who provides basic information and is happy to answer any additional questions you might have. The staff was courteous and cheerful. Pro tip: show up 30 min early for charcuterie and an aperitif.

Eric R.

Yelp
Awesome experience! Doors opened for our seating at 8:30. Prior to that, our group sat outside under the heaters. Great atmosphere - but, layer up if cold outside. The whiskey pairings and food were amazing. Staff was extremely knowledgeable and complimented the experience. You definitely need to call ahead for seating.

Yelp
Visited Park City this past weekend and must say, the cottage was the highlight of our trip! We enjoyed the prix fixe experience with whiskey pairing. Worth mentioning - the service was top notch, and the precautions taken due to COVID were greatly appreciated. The cottage only had about 5 tables seated and were more than adequately spaced out. Our server Kelsey was such a personable and funny person - we really enjoyed getting to know her, joking around and getting her input on the food/drinks, and all things Park City! Sterling - the somm - was also so knowledgeable about the whiskey! He is very passionate and knows his stuff. Incredible experience overall!

Yelp
We just attended a wedding reception at Nelson Cottage. We ALSO already added it to the list of "must haves" for the trip back to Utah we are planning for next year. This was not only the best wedding meal I've ever had, but easily one of the best meals I've ever had in general. The food kept coming and every single thing we ate was delicious - like, beyond delicious. The drinks were great, the hospitality was perfect, and the cozy, warm, intimate setting was like sitting in your favorite chair in front of a fireplace. With your grandma reading you your favorite book. While also handing you bowls of the best salad, brussels sprouts, steak, salmon, and mac and cheese you've ever had. Definitely check this place out if you get the chance to.

Yelp
Wow! Wow! Wow! This place was our most favorite spot on our Park City adventure!!! The food was all absolutely incredible!! This is a must when coming to Park City! The whiskey pairing was also a wonderful choice. So freakin glad we came here!!!! The cutest patio as well!

Alex D.

Yelp
Every aspect of this experience was top-notch. We were greeted with great, welcoming hospitality and it continued throughout the meal. Every flight of the sampling menu was delicious and flavorful. We also enjoyed tasting and learning more about their whiskey. Their service was impeccable. It seemed every time I sipped my water they were there to refill it! Great place and great experience. Don't miss it when you're in Park City.

Yelp
I was absolutely blown away by this meal in every single way. I was lucky enough to snag a reservation for my birthday, and the anticipation was met with one of the greatest meals I've ever had. From top to bottom, Nelson Cottage has one of the most impressive restaurant presentations that I've ever experienced. This was a dinner and a special memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Esse Z.

Yelp
If you're not going as a group of 8, you must avoid unless you like paying $75 to watch other people eat food you pay for. They claim "family" style dining with strangers experience. It goes like this: they drop one plate to be passed around and you're lucky if you're the first. Otherwise you're leaving hungry. The whiskey tasting is even sadder - four thimbles of their basics. If you're a group of four or less you'd be happier elsewhere unless you like being charged (don't forget the auto-grat!) to watch other people chow.

Amanda P.

Yelp
The Nelson Cottage hosted our wedding reception in September and we have nothing but good things to say! For starters, the food is amazing. Every dish they brought out was delicious. But the staff truly shines with their hospitality. They were so attentive to each guest and made sure everybody's cup was full of their favorite cocktail or wine. If you are looking to try one restaurant in Park City, add this place to your list. We also attended one of the prix fixe meals back in February and all of the above applies to their family style dinners that they host.

Bronwyn L.

Yelp
The food, service, and experience are exceptional here! Last night, my husband and I had an incredible meal. We loved the winter menu. We took friends from out of town to Nelson's and they were blown away. And Arianne's cocktails and wine selection are top notch!

Kate F.

Yelp
Used to be a great establishment and that's why we wanted to return for the third time - but things have changed drastically for the worse. Nelson Cottage is giving High West a bad name. We got a call inviting us to come a half an hour early for drinks and appetizers. During this call we were told dinner would begin promptly at 5:30. It began to rain and we were forced to wait outside with an option to pay $15/cider. No one had mentioned on the call that the pre-dinner drinks we had been invited to would be at our expense or that we would not be let inside even if it was raining. Jesse (head of house) then spent quite a while telling me how he could not control the weather and did let us in early (ten minutes in the rain seemed avoidable) which was obvious and unsolicited... He must have heard me suggesting they let folks wait inside because I didn't begin a conversation with him about the issue and he was entirely unapologetic about our long wait outside. We were eventually let in but the appetizer situation was a mess. Two of our party were served the first appetizer while the others were being held up by the conversation about the weather. The other three then just sat there for quite a while before different appetizers finally came around. I asked about whether we would also be getting the original appetizer and instead of bringing it we were just told they were still being passed around. Then our table of five was hastily served four meatballs. The welcome speech then began at about 5:45 while the entire restaurant was made to wait for one late party. The service was just an ongoing comedy of errors. For example, if our forks were bussed between courses some of us didn't get new ones for the next course unless we asked. I ate three courses with a salad fork for fear of not being able to flag someone down to get a new fork. Timing was A MESS and we were even offered peppercorn sauce for the bison AFTER we had all finished that course. No one ever asked how we were or if we needed anything, family style dishes were quickly dropped off and then the server was gone. The chef is clearly doing everything he can to deal with the limited and overworked staff. Overall food was excellent. Really unfortunate decline in the service and timing. The worst part is the staff didn't know how to apologize or even take ciders off the bill or do anything to rectify the multiple mistakes. They were even quite rude about it. Either they're stressed beyond the limit or really don't belong in front of house. When I explained the sauce error on my way out the door as a courtesy so they could potentially fix that for the next seating the whiskey "somm" just said, "enjoy that rain." Really unprofessional and bad experience. Would not expect this of any restaurant but especially not for one at this price point. Will not return without change in management/staff or apology and attempt at rectification.

Cary D.

Yelp
This was an insanely amazing dining experience. We had a many-course meal with whiskey pairings for most of the courses. The wonderful Chef talks about each dish and their Whiskey Sommelier does the same. It was absolutely incredible experience and food!

Christina G.

Yelp
Amazing, unique dinner spot. A great place to eat wonderful food with a wonderful experience. I loved the family style. Contrary to the review below, I had more than enough food. They were also careful to accommodate my pescatarian diet. The truffle Mac and cheese and puffed quinoa/ pear salad were particularly incredible. Beyond the food, the service was great. All staff was friendly and personable. I loved the open kitchen as well, as you could see the care the chef's were taking. I 100% recommended dinner here, especially if you are looking for something outside the norm.
