I haven't been in a theater this dilapidated since seeing Friday after next back in 2002'. A grungy theater with a similar 'torn up' look. Same grime, torn carpets held in place with duct tape, exposed ceiling due to missing covers, janky seating w/ something poking you in the butt/back and more.. If I return for a show, I'm bringing a blow-up donut for my booty or a foam pad. I feel like I had a gait abnormality after watching Shazam the other day.
The highlights of the 400 is that it offers booze (with nightly specials) and happy /cheerful employees.
It's hard to find such relics these days since many of the older theaters are gutted & rehabbed or simply torn down.
Priced at $8.50 a ticket and the fact that booze is available, it's not terrible. But, neither is watching Crackle* on the couch with a pizza. This theater could use a good rehab, that's for sure. Though even an injection of $5 grand would do them some good..
(* Crackle or Sony Crackle is a free-ish streaming service available online.)
It comes down to the spend and event. How much are you willing to spend for a night at the movie theater. What perks should come with that ticket price. What kind of sound and visual experience are you looking for when seeing a new movie?
For me: If the movie has been out many weeks and I just want to see it on a large screen, sure. IF they're hosting a series of old flicks; ie Halloween movies, comedy classics or Christmas movies, sure.
**Now that I think about it, I once attended a church service here a couple years ago. They must have a couple theaters with better surrounds (carpet, seating, smell), because I don't remember that room being as bad as the one we were in the other day.**
