"A Classy Downtown Happy Hour There's a certain formality to the New Brighton: an elegantly dressed attendant opens the door for you, a gentleman in a tuxedo plays the baby grand in the back, the wood bar has been polished so much that you can practically see your own reflection in the grain. Maybe that's why this classic downtown cafe - another of the city's bares notables (notable historic bars) mostly attracts a distinguished older set. Nevermind - it's part of the ambiance. You can seek out a more youthful crowd later. Come to the New Brighton for a late happy hour or a pre-theater cocktail - served with a complimentary tray of small delicacies - and breathe in the old-world Buenos Aires atmosphere."

Highly recommend, and we found it by dilute in google! Near 725 Continental hotel so very convenient. Exceptional service by Jose and Andres! We showed up early evening, no reservation, and were seated immediately. Wonderful atmosphere, live piano performance, and excellent quality food. HUGE portions… if you want steak suggest ordering the 1/2 portion (still easily 6-8 oz). Flan dessert was great, as was the chocolate mousse! They also serve Catena Zapata wines which are exceptional!

Nice atmosphere in a former social club with a much storied legend involving the former Duke of Windsor—before ascending as King Edward VIII. We sat in a somewhat private booth at the front windows, which was nice, but the seats were not comfortable and were well worn. From this table it was not easy to enjoy the live music as it was obstructed by a wall and the corner of the bar. Service was excellent, though the food didn’t live up to the hype. I’d recommend this place for drinks, and perhaps hors d’oeuvres.

Love this place, 5 of us arrived without a reservation and I'm so glad they were able to find a table for us. The food was excellent as it was the service. Highly recommend this place. Half of a portion is recommended as the plates are generous.

Outstanding historical place. Had the Risotto de Mare, Flan de casa. Totally delicious. My group of 5, we all had delicious dishes. Very attentive staff! A must visit!

Google
Really cool place to eat. Nice atmosphere with live piano music. This is necessary because the food was average. I hear it used to be better and it is above average in price. In the end, I am 50/50 on whether to recommend. Maybe for drinks

I was walking around the city centre and this place caught my attention by its beauty. The New Brighton is absolutely beautiful inside and mentally took me Paris with so much wood, the lampshades, waitresses dressing very formal. We have been there twice. Last time we had steak with vegetables. The portions are generous, the wine list is big and prices are excellent, the atmosphere is relaxing and I would go back there more times if I could

What an experience!! My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant looking for somewhere for dinner. I am absolutely blown away with the service and live performance . Every member of the staff was very patient and kind. We are American so we speak very little Spanish thus had to rely on our dialog app and everyone made us feel welcomed. The hostess- I think her name was nue was very kind and guided us to our table right near center stage. Our server Andre’s was able to guide us in English and basically picked our entrees for us. The food was INCREDIBLE, phenomenal recommendations. Andres also helped us pick a wonderful wine to pair. The performance was…. AMAZING. I hate that I didn’t get the name of the singer or the band members but they are all so talented!! The singer I swear is related to frank Sinatra . Beautiful voice! All and all my husband and I had the best night of our whole trip. We will be back . Gracias!!! 💓

Yelp
Tip 1: You can avoid a lunch wait by having a reservation or be invited back from the server via business card during a dinner meal, which is what happened us. Tip 2: portions are very large, they can do half portions, just ask. Tip 3: confirm if your protein comes with any sauce (in case you want it dry) a lot of the meat and fish dishes do and the menu doesn't always say so Tip 4: for some, this should be tip 1, free glass of bubbly for all patrons, yep there is something for free out there in the world! No strings attached. And it tastes good too, not too dry, easy and light enough to drink another. Tip 5: Manteca is the word for butter in case you want that instead of the pate type spread that comes with the bread baskets Tip 6 : worth a visit! Appetizers: Fried cheese - delicious! Grilled Shrimp- served on a bed of mini potato sticks/fries - excellent during the night, just good during lunch Beef Carpaccio- delicious! Palm of hearts - good but seemed canned/pickled and not fresh. First time tasters enjoyed the dish, if like we you know your hearts of palm, I'd skip it. Entrees: There doesn't seem to be any light or small dishes. Everything is super sized. Lomo or beef filet is excellent. Mine was at least 16oz, at least. There were other cuts of meat even larger, all juicy and tender. At our table there were no complaints. Brighton beef/ kind of like beef Wellington got excellent reviews Grilled Salmon salad was good Seafood salad is greens with octopus, mussels, and various other seafood but main protein was pulpo. It's a large dish, no-one finished. Fish dishes were great too, but they do come covered in sauces so make sure you ordered fish not because you want something light, as it won't be, if sauce is added. But this isn't the case for all fish dishes Sides: Grilled veg sides are great, I didn't try the creamed spinach but it was a hit with others. Sweet potato looked so so, but I didn't taste it. Dessert: Ice cream is not homemade, feels like store bought, it's ok but makes sense to try something made In house Everyone loved the orange creme brûlée. Service is very good, we found Victor, a tall male server especially helpful. The decor is pleasant, the restaurant is immaculate and spacious and the price is reasonable, especially considering the quality of experience delivered. Our server remembered us and our drink orders on the return visit.

Yelp
Very beautiful old building that probably saw its prime about 30 years ago!! Amazing service with very solid food. Had the lomo wrapped in phylo dough. Which was cooked perfectly with stuffed potatoes. Everything however needed massive amounts of salt added. Nice desserts and great bread basket.

Yelp
Excellent! That is all that comes to mind. The wine list was excellent. And while they didn't have what we asked for, a very nice replacement suggested was made and taken and was delicious! The food was excellent. The steak was huge and cooked perfectly to my order. The waitstaff was fabulous!

Yelp
A little bit over priced. Altough steak quality was good it lacked seasoning . They also like it really rare . I like my steak just medium not bloody at all and it was hard for them to do that for some reason. The ambiance was very nice and old style british/french cafe look. It looked a little more high end for a steakhouse in the area but the service was just average or bellow.

Yelp
Fan-freaking-tastic!!! I dined here with 7 friends. I loved the atmosphere, although I thought it was a little too bright (but that's how I remembered the name). Started with a complementary glass of bubbly. Nice touch. Prompt service from friendly staff who were able to speak enough English to ensure we were served right. The fried cheese should not be missed. Note, it's not your standard breaded and fried cheese. I did have to send my undercooked steak back. It was returned perfectly cooked. It was the most tender steak of my life. It was so tasty, no toppings were required, although the chimichuri sauce was pretty spectacular. The garlic mashed potatoes were super. The creamed spinach was a hit. The salads were fresh and the hearts of palm so tender. Mashed sweet potatoes were good. We split a dessert that was prepared at the table. I don't recall what it was, but it was made with ice cream, strawberries and, wait for it, ground pepper! It was good, but I wished I'd talked the table into trying the crepes with tres leches. We split the tab equally, dinner with 4 bottles of wine came to about $30US a person. This was one of the most memorable meals I've had in a very long time and I just know when I go back it won't be as good, but I'm going to give them the chance to prove me wrong!

Yelp
Very nice place for dinner. The service was good and the food was fabulous. I asked for my steak to be medium well done. It was a lot more rare than I like. However, I was able to eat around the edges and enjoy some of it.

Yelp
Incredible place for dinner. I arrived and immediate it struck me as very fancy and it was very nicely decorated! The staff was extremely attentive and nice, they made some good recommendations for dinner and wine to go with. I order a steak of course and it was delicious, the wine went very well and for dessert I had the orange creme brûlée, which was also delicious! A must go in buenos Aires!!

Yelp
Service was really slow and not to recommend. Waiter was not friendly and food was very average. Nice traditional decor but really would not come back.
