Nizam's - SilverKris

"Credited with inventing the kathi roll, this New Market–area eatery enjoys cult status among gastronomes. The kathi roll was born out of necessity when patrons wanted to eat the restaurant’s succulent grilled meat or chicken kebabs on the go, so pieces were wrapped in flaky paratha (flatbread). Regulars often add an egg or two to their rolls." - SilverKris

We enjoyed the most wonderful meal here this evening. The Gobi starter is an absolute must-try. The staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. We were served by the manager, whose welcoming, bubbly sense of humour made the experience even more special. You can feel how proud he is of his restaurant, and it’s truly heartwarming. Every dish was a perfect 10/10. ❤️ We only wish this restaurant existed in the UK - we’d be regulars in a heartbeat!

Google
Best authentic indian food I've ever had consistently throughout all of my travels. I love that when I ask for spicy they deliver a beautiful spice; definitely order mild if youre sensitive to spice. Update ** i also booked the private room at Nizam's recently for a birthday party and we got the private buffet; i highly recommend this!! The food was very good, great selection, and the room was beautiful!!!!

Google
Amazing food and excellent service. We had Chicken 65, Bhaji platter which came with Samosa, Alu Tikki and onion bhaji, Tangri Chicken which came with five pieces tangri along with Ghee Rice, butter chicken gravy and raita. Everything was so good and less spicy as we have ordered that even our kid could eat too. By far the best Indian restaurant if considering food, service and ambiance.

"This restaurant truly hit the spot! The food was incredibly authentic, and every dish I ordered exceeded my expectations. The staff went above and beyond, being super accommodating and helpful. As someone far from home, it's amazing to find a place that really satisfies my desi cravings!"

Google
Great Indian food. I was there in egg harbor township for a business trip and decided to go. Amazing food and very friendly people.

Google
This restaurant truly felt like home! The food was fresh, delicious, and had that comforting, homemade touch. The service was fantastic—staff were warm, attentive, and regularly checked in to make sure everything was perfect. It’s rare to find a place where you feel both well taken care of and completely at ease. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a great dining experience!

Google
Very sweet customer service, felt taken care of and the food is delicious! Was my first time trying Indian cuisine and they were very patient and open to helping if I had any questions. Wonderful first experience :)

Google
Very yummy food, clean and very good service. The owner is also good. We stopped here twice on the way to cape may and back. Ate our fill from the buffet. And we were full till dinner after playing in the sun and ocean. No stomach upset nothing. Very nice flavors. Would highly highly recommend

Yelp
Have been coming here for over ten years. Amazing customer service by Derrick, he always makes sure the food is fresh and comes out in time. The entire staff is great and the restaurant is very clean. There's plenty of parking and seating is spaced out nicely. They have a kids menu and high chairs. Definitely the best Indian food in the area. The butter chicken and lamb chops are so good! Also, they are BYOB which is a plus. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This restaurant offers comfortable seating, caring service and very good to excellent food. Care is taken to cook food to order. All the ingredients are fresh and plentiful. Even the Naam and the chutney are yum! The host makes a point of circulating among all the customers to ensure everything is to our satisfaction. My husband and I have enjoyed coming here often since we moved to Egg Harbor Township from center city Philly and look forward to coming again very soon.

Yelp
Enormous floor space which is rare for an Indian eatery. Plus they're opening a spot in Hard Rock Cafe in AC. Food was exceptional from legit chai tea to tasty samosas and that rarest chicken tikka marsala - with lots of meat. Only down side was casual, cavalier wait staff - well one but as I said once manager, that didn't ruin the experience. He claims they're the best in the state. Well..
google avatar

Yelp
What a great place food was great decor was great. Service was great. I highly recommend Nizams.

Yelp
amazing paneer tikka, panner tikka massala, and chicken dishes !!! rice is also cooked very well. less oil would make this even better
google avatar

Yelp
Went to the buffet. They were clearly overwhelmed. Large party with a seperate buffet closing half the space. Near full in the open seating area. Not much to offer on the buffet other than promises that dishes would be refilled. Naan was steamed to soggy. What pieces of chicken (tikka and curry) were in the sauce were dry and near tasteless. Go to Aroma or Jasmine.

Yelp
I am just sitting here waiting on our pick up order so why not write a review the Chicken Makhani (you may order it any spice level you'd like) is delicious pair with garlic naan. One of my personal favorites is the Chicken Tikka with chili cheese naan. And three Mango Lassis to go. I am sure they have more tasty dishes but these two are my go to dishes. Service is always outstanding whether it is takeout or sitting in the staff has always been wonderful. The scene is very chill with low volume music so you can actually hold a conversation. One of these days I will try some new dishes, but as for now I will stick with the ones I love. I would definitely recommend Nizams to anyone looking for Indian food in Atlantic County.

Lynsay B.

Yelp
The Nizam's is the only Indian buffet in the area worth frequenting. The food is always so fresh and spiced perfectly. So many indian restaurants in the area are cutting corners and the quality reflects that, but Nizams has been consistently awesome and that's why I'm a loyal customer here.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Food is outstanding and the service too!! Can't wait to go back! The samosas were perfect and not greasy. They have lunch buffet on the weekends that we are hoping to try!

Yelp
From the moment we entered the restaurant we were treated like family. We were visiting from Florida and found this gem of a restaurant. The food, flavors, and service were outstanding. If I lived here, I would be coming here every week. The manager, Madhu, and his team were over the top friendly and courteous. We came for dinner and we had appetizers, including the soup and Samosa Chat, the eggplant entrée, the Dal Makhani, rice pudding, Chai Tea and garlic naan.... A spectacular array of flavors. The chef is a genius. We will definitely come back when we visited the area again and I strongly recommend the locals to support this fabulous restaurant.

Yelp
Excellent authentic Indian food. They offer buffet on weekends. I've been there plenty of times and we'll go back.

Yelp
Everything about Nizam's is amazing!!! Best food, amazing atmosphere, and the service is always always top notch. They are always busy but how could they not be?! 10/10!!!! Thank you

Yelp
Food was very good. Nice selection of dishes. Services was good and prices fair I can't handle spicy food and was able to order at a spice level I enjoy d

Yelp
First time trying this location... after some initial service hiccups, we had a great meal. (We were seated and left alone for a while, at a very early dinner hour when it wasn't crowded; then, after the three of us were seated at a booth set for two, I had to ask for a third place setting, and a third water glass. If there were other drinks to be had, no one asked us if we wanted anything.) Once the staff had finished hanging decorations, we able to place our orders. When you order your food spicy, they mean *spicy*. My wife's chicken tikka masala was a mouth searing affair, a few bites of which I loved. I had the lamb Rogan Josh, which featured tender cubes of lamb in a (spicy) red sauce. My oldest son is a conservative eater, and he handily polished off an entire butter chicken entree. The naan bread is delightfully chewy and light, with an appetizing char. The menu featured recognizable Indian dishes, which is comforting for most (although I'm always game for something unusual). We will definitely go back. Can't wait to go back, in fact.

Yelp
Got the goat biryani and my total was $24.47, paid with cash and shorted $.53 in change. Overall, the dish was flavorful with a good spice level since I ordered spicy. The downside was the goat meat had mostly bones, And barely any meat. would strongly advise paying with card and not cash to avoid being short changed.

Yelp
Our hostess was quick to seat us, with water & glasses. Our server not so quick to take order. lol Once our order was placed... the food came to the table in a timely manner. It was delicious! We definitely will come back. The overall appearance was cute. A little Indian flare.
google avatar

Iliana M.

Yelp
The food was excellent! The service was great. It is a place where you can bring your own wine. So if you are wanting to drink keep that in mind.
google avatar

P W.

Yelp
Food could be good. But waiting time is forever on Saturday and bad service. Waiters seem busy all the time with other things and forgot the table exist? No one coming half an hour so we left..

Logan S.

Yelp
they have the best service because they gave me a mango juice they have the best juice.

Jill E.

Yelp
The food here is outstanding! Each dish has layers of flavors that are exquisite, and unfold in your mouth like a gift. I feel like this restaurant deserves a Michelin star. The service was great, and every person we saw was friendly, smiling, warm and welcoming. I can't say enough good things about The Nizam's, it's a real treasure!!

Yelp
I'd like to offer another perspective to my original review. Nizam's underwent some structural changes and thus moved further away from my school, Stockton University. While the food is still good the morals have depleted. Stockton has used this restaurant for YEARS! The food is always amazing. Since I was on the area, I decided to dine there for lunch. I am DEEPLY disappointed that I was not given the lunch menu. In fact, it felt predatorily dishonest. I ordered an entree for $19 and naan for $4! The waiter stayed in the distance. When he arrived with my food, I asked what happened to the lunch menu you. He then provided me with that menu. The lunch menu INCLUDES samosa, naan, AND dal on top of a smaller portioned entree for $14. I am very frustrated that I wasn't given to CHOICE to order from the lunch menu. It felt like an intentional trick/effort to get me to spend more money. It feels dishonest and not a positive customer service attitude. From there I was annoyed and couldn't enjoy my meal. I've spoken highly of this place for over 5yrs. I'm sad that this will be my last experience with the restaurant and I now have a negative experience to report.

Yelp
My wife and I spend a week in Atlantic City every other month or so, and we are always looking for a place to eat. You can find decent places in most of the casinos, but if you are just in the city or environs there aren't very may knockouts. Sure there are chain places and diners, but not many great restaurants. We found one! I enjoy spicy food, and Indian cuisine in particular, and we saw this place mentioned online, and we decided to try it. First, it was very considerate that the first page of the menu is a glossary, defining the different types of dishes, and it prompted me to be a bit more adventurous with my dinner selection. I had a lamb in a spicy tomato and yogurt sauce which was delicious. My wife had chicken tikka that was tasty and not at all gamey. We shared an order of garlic naan that was good, but had a trifle too much butter on it. The service was good, not overly intrusive, and the price was right. We gambled in Atlantic City, and we won That could stand the enlarge and improve their signage, as you need to look a bit. We will return

Yelp
Woke up craving Indian & drove 45 minutes to try out The Nizams & was very happy we did. The food was phenomenal & well portioned. Harvey, our server, was incredibly attentive & kind. It's very cute inside, love the lights & decorations. Open kitchen. Definitely would come here again :)

Yelp
Authentic and delicious taste of India in South Jersey. We always start with the papad, samosas and pakoras. The chutneys are fresh and delightful. It's hard to order a small amount of food at Nizam's since everything is absolutely amazing. My favorite is the navratan korma and saag paneer. I love the bindhi but it's far too salty for me. I try to save room for rasamali and gulab Jamin but sometimes it's too hard to do. Fresh and fabulous. Always welcoming.
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
Fresh, delicious food reasonably priced. We throughly enjoyed our meal especially the Naan plate and raita. We highly recommend a visit.
google avatar

Tommy J.

Yelp
Only 4 stars here cause their service has been slacking lately. Forgetting orders, mixing up table orders, not attentive, everyone getting there meals at different times. I'm not sure if it's because of staff shortages or hiring family who are clearly clueless to restaurant service. I only mention this cause I hope they address this. It's the only thing that left a bad taste. Otherwise get to Nizams. Especially if you never had Indian food before. I've had many of their dishes. They do it right!
google avatar

Consuela G.

Yelp
My daughter and I had dinner on Monday, 4/24/23 and the food was fresh and delicious. We had Samosa for our appetizer and for our entrees we had Chicken Makhani, Chicken Masala with the Basmati rice and Garlic Naan. I can't recall the young ladies name that was our server, however she was very sweet and attentive to us. If you dine at Nizam's you will not be disappointed!
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
Food was delicious. Apps were just okay. Really enjoyed the garlic naan and chicken korma!
google avatar

Steve K.

Yelp
Three in my party came for dinner today, we found that one of the paper napkins were dirty, the glasses were dirty, and one of the glasses with ice, when my daughter spooned out a piece of ice for my GD, there was some type of slime on the fork (maybe soap?). Although the server brought new napkins, and clean glasses, it was decided to have them wrap up our order "to go". We will not eat inside this restaurant again, we have only ordered take out in the past.
google avatar

Hammad M.

Yelp
I picked up some naans from this place. I mean just look at how thin this is. Naan are supposed to be a thicker than that. It barely qualifies to be a roti. SMH

Jeniece W.

Yelp
Very very good food. The salmon was super fresh and super moist. Came with rice and the "tomato" sauce on the side. The curry chicken was well prepared also. But be careful, it's spicy! And I believe I got the mild. The host was kind and his smile infectious. My only complaint was that the food took longer than expected but hey, it was good so... I'll definitely return.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Indian Food in South Jersey! The owner is the sweetest and always gives great service. Great vegan options!
google avatar

Virginia C.

Yelp
So I got off the island - b/c I needed some indian food and onto the mainland I go for a random Monday night. For a random Monday - this old carraba location was busy and busy with Indian people. Now, I know I hit the right spot. This place is delicious and while I'm not vegan - I appreciate the vegan options since I try to stay diary free (sometimes). 1) Love all the tikka masala (basic I know) 2) alo gobi (cauliflower/potatoes dishes) 3) Samosas 4) garlic nann and pass on the wheat roti 5) delish eggplant dishes We had an all vegetarian meal and it was delicious. Yah to meatless Mondays!
google avatar

Yelp
Our go-to Indian restaurant. Always good, always consistent. I need to get to their Buffett, which is a lot less frequent, and try other options to expand our horizons. But Chicken Makhani and Chicken Tikka Masala, Naan, Pakora items and Tandori items are always great.

Miles R.

Yelp
Food is always done well and is do authentic. Nizams is my go to spot for Indian Cuisine!

Jazzy K.

Yelp
the food was delicious, the service was very good and the scenery was great I enjoyed everything
google avatar

Yelp
I wanted a good authentic Indian restaurant since the last few visits to another Indian diner in Atlantic City was disastrous. Nizam was a life saver
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
We have been wanting to try Nizam's for awhile now so we decided to go. We were a little apprehensive due to us not knowing what to order or anything about Indian cuisine. From the time we walked in the door throughout our whole experience everyone was welcoming and hospitable. I don't think there was one person who worked there that didn't come to our table and check on us. Our waiter was so accommodating. He suggested plates for us to order and share and even went out of his way to make sure everyone was good. Wish I caught his name so I could give him credit. He suggested the Garlic Naan, Lamb Tikka Masala, and the Nizam's Tangri Kebab. Everything came out fresh. Flavors were incredible. Every platter was excellent! We even got dessert. We chose the Gulab Jamun and wasn't disappointed. Another plus is that they are BYOB... If you have been wanting to try something different or a great authentic Indian restaurant this is your place!
google avatar

Parin J.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. They have a generous quantity, so keep that in mind. Their dal makhani and biryani is out of the world. They also made a customized naan for us.
google avatar

David L.

Yelp
Great authentic Indian food in the unlikeliest of places! In a former popular mall parking area, possibly a former Carraba's, this restaurant wows with great dishes that will make your taste buds dance. The restaurant is roomy and pleasing and very clean. The menu is very large and has all of your favorite dishes. Many items can be adjusted to taste in terms of spice level, although mild even is very spicy for the spice intolerant guest. We enjoyed garlic Naan, onion Kulcha, chicken tikka biryani, chicken tikka masala, tandoori chicken, tandoori mushrooms, lamb chops and more. The food was completely delicious and the lotions are quite large with a reasonable price tag. It's quite popular and weekends in summer can be crowded.

Yelp
We just ate there, we regularly go there..... no dought food was good ...... the guy with in the black with glasses refuse to give .50.... Carry out food bag when dining bill is $114+ 18% tip... i felt insulted... dont feel like going there next time .... ridiculously cheap.......he even accepted that they are being cheap .... not inviting don't feel like going there next time... Same guy... he took our order..... every time..... something is always up... not good vibes and experience with him..... Good food not good service!
google avatar

Jahira R.

Yelp
IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS I WOULD. The service here is the worst I've ever had. They took 10 minutes to seat us then anouther 15 to even get us a menu. Then when we ordered no one made us aware that the bread came together for two meals ordered, thus causing massive issues between family members. When the issue is brought the our server he proceeds to take the bread with his bare hands and show who's bread is who's. Then when something came out wrong we tried to bring it back because it was a $22 dish that we DID NOT order and our server acted like he couldn't understand us and did not acknowledge what we were even trying to say. The way this place is ran is absolutely disappointing and horrible. It was our first and last time here. Definitely not the way customers should be treated if they are paying a minimum $20 a dish.
google avatar

Billy D.

Yelp
Fantastic food and service! Sam, AJ and Madhu are awesome and very attentive. Totally recommend Nizam's to anyone who enjoys great Indian food in a nice atmosphere!
google avatar

Ben M.

Yelp
Food was fairly good. The service was horrible beginning to end. We didn't receive everything we ordered. Then had a problem getting the food we didn't get off the bill. Table was dirty and had to ask several times for more silverware and napkins. We're not planning on going back.
google avatar

Beth B.

Yelp
Always love Nizam's. The new location is really nice. Just doing take out these days and Nizam's is on the top of the list. Their food is fresh from scratch, have a vegan menu and the staff is always cheerful and helpful. It's time to support great local restaurants like these. Order from Nizam's! You won't be sorry.

Arthur R.

Yelp
Food excellent Service prompt & friendly Ambience average Basmati Rice great Mulligatawny soup Chicken Korma very good Chicken Curry very good Dessert gulab jamun wonderful Best Indian food other than Grandma's

Anthony D.

Yelp
If you love Indian food, this is the place to go. My wife loves her lamb dishes, and I love my salmon and goat dishes, food as well made and spicy so be careful.
google avatar

Yelp
New traditions have been started over dining at this delicious restaurant. I'm obsessed with the garlic naan and the butter chicken! It's on my weekly rotation and a must try for everyone who visits me at the beach!

Yelp
I'm happy to dish out five stars for Nizam's. Spicy lamb curry was fabulous and right on the hot edge where it got your attention but didn't overdo it. Nan bread choices are very interesting with several different options. BYOB I love so that's a plus. Service was delightful and quick. I'd give this a try, you'll be pleasantly surprised.
