The most wonderful welcome to Sri Lanka’s people, culture, cuisine and wildlife all wrapped up in a stunning building with beautiful grounds - we stayed a night but could have stayed two weeks - stunning . ||Our host, Dushan, welcomed us and looked after our every need in the most wonderful way, we were made to feel very special, the room was huge, air conditioned, the bed comfortable with crisp clean bedding, the shower huge and powerful and all with local character in this historical building, we had a huge verrandah balcony with views of the garden it was lovely.|The cuisine was stunning, the friendly chefs cooked with passion and the flavours of breakfast, lunch and Dinner were truly stunning. Dushan took us for a tour of the incredible vegetable garden where all the spices, herbs and vegetables were grown and each day the chefs hand pick the ingredients required to make your meals, the chefs are aware that your western palette may not be ready for strong spice and so they prepare your food accordingly. Each meal was explained and described by Dushan so we understood exactly what we were eating and its importance. |In the afternoon Dushan took us for a beautiful walk to the local temple which was calm and serene, 200 years old and he described the history and culture of each element of the temple and its importance. The final thing that we loved was the wildlife, there is a lake at the end of the grounds and the birdlife and wildlife is diverse and fascinating, I could have watched the parakeets and herons, kingfishers, egrets, squirrels and terrapins for hours …. Highly recommended
