"Rumor has it that Charlotte, a sex worker who frequented Nottingham Road Hotel at the turn of the century, fell deeply for a British soldier passing through town. When she learned that her love was gone — either indifferent to her affections or killed in battle — she threw herself from the balcony of Room 10. Now, she passes the time of her afterlife by rearranging flowers, moving mirrors to catch her best angle, and folding guests' clothes." - Travel + Leisure Editors

What a wonderful experience. Large clean rooms with soft comfy linens. professional service - the staff went the extra mile for us and our kids. Hearty meals in an extraordinary nostalgic atmosphere with fireplaces and real people gathering to be themselves in a stunning location. Thanks Paul and team! Hope to see you again soon!

Charming colonial hotel. Great food, very good breakfast.||Rooms are nice but require better cleaning. The carpets are old and at least in our room appeared to not have been vacuumed in a long time, especially under the beds (we had moved them apart).

We planned an overnight stop just because we heard about this hotels history, but that's pretty much about it for this place. When we arrived, we weren't even greeted by the receptionist who was extremely rude, in my opinion. That was an immediate turn-off to be frank. We were basically given the keys and remotes for the room and were told where to find the room (and we got a bit lost). This is not a problem, but guests that arrived after us were taken to their room, which was next to us by the same receptionist. She was seeing laughing and cracking jokes with them, but we received no such treatment. We weren't even told the times for breakfast. On checkout, I'm not sure what it has to do with me that she has to claim from Agoda. That's not my job, that's her job. She doesn't need to publicize it. The hotel claims to be haunted, but this is just a marketing strategy, in my opinion. Yes, it's old, but that doesn't mean that it's haunted. Other than the rude receptionist, who needs a lot of training in hospitality, the restaurant staff is always smiling and willing to help, which made us feel a lot better. The rooms were clean, but the wifi was extremely slow. I won't recommend staying here longer than a night. If you get people who know how to treat guests, even if the rooms are not the greatest, this makes or breaks a hotel.

Must to stay over. The ambiance is a experience that everyone must experience. You must experience||the history and walks in town. Food at the hotel is one of a kind. I have had the opertunity to experience different types of food in different countries and Nottingham Road Hotel for me to date is the best out of my experience.

Terrible stay. I would not recommend at all. Beware that pictures on the website do not match the actual hotel. The rooms were so old and we had no electricity over the long weekend. Breakfasts were so bad - the Restaurant was out of sausages, bacon and , avocado. Waited over 45mins to be served. What was supposed to be a nice weekend away turned out to be a nightmare.

The mattresses need to be replaced. I struggled to sleep, and I probably would have slept better on the floor. I weigh around 75kg. There was no support from the mattress. It collapsed under my weight, and every move came with major ripple waves. Like lying on a block of jelly. Portable fans in the room are noisy. Would prefer a quiet ceiling fan. No mosquito mesh on the windows. The location is very beautiful.

To be honest, the place is very tired in just about every respect. We stayed in room 24 which was was just about adequate. The Bathroom was terrible to be honest. The Staff tried very hard but THEY can't do anything about everything being so run down.

We stayed here for the first time in 6 years, and while it’s still charming and in a great location, things just feel very dated and dirty. Baby cockroaches in the bathtub, dead flies in the corner of the room, dust on the toilet, broken trash bin, and so many mosquitoes we found it difficult to sleep. We also weren’t impressed with the stained tablecloths at breakfast and shabby placemats. It just feels tired. The hotel really just needs a deep clean, someone to spray for mosquitoes (or put ceiling fans in and/or nets on the windows), a fresh lick of paint, and cleaning staff that really clean the whole room, and it can go back to its glory.
