How Ojai Became America’s New Culinary Hotspot | Vogue

"As the more casual of the two main dinner spots at the Inn, this restaurant starts strong with a winning dip of local crab and tarragon and ends with a pleasantly subtle slice of brie cheesecake drizzled with honey from the property’s apiary—a reminder that the food here is far more thoughtful than high‑volume dining needs to be." - Lauren Mechling

This place was amazing! The ambiance was so great and the grounds were perfectly landscaped and so beautiful! My husband and I came here for a drink during the famous “pink moment. We sat by the fire pits, and it was very relaxing. Honestly, how we just walked down the path a little bit further we would’ve gotten a better view of the mountains and the notorious pink moment than sitting at the fire pits. My husband got an old old-fashioned and it was actually so delicious. I had a glass of wine and it was very good. There are four pools at the resort and they are all absolutely stunning! We didn’t eat any food here, so I cannot speak to the quality of that. Overall, I highly, highly recommend this resort! ❤️

Wonderful experience we had here. The resort was beautiful. I would say come before your reservation to just enjoy and view the property. All of our food was very good. The hummus is a must. We enjoyed our meals and would return. It’s a very nice city to enjoy when trying to escape the busy city. We will plan residing at the resort next time. Valet complimentary when arriving to restaurant, may also self park

We went to dinner at The Oak at the Ojai Valley Inn. The grounds are gorgeous and we got to see the sunset and the “pink mountains”. The Oak’s ambiance was wonderful as was our server, Paul. I loved sitting outside under the cozy heat lamp. We shared a wedge salad which was delish, but the roasted chicken was super salty and I wasn’t a fan of the fried chicken bites appetizer. Didn’t love the food, but it’s truly beautiful. Pics of our view of the trees lit up over the golf course.

After spending the entire day at the spa, we were looking forward to a relaxing, high-quality birthday dinner at The Oak. Instead, the experience was unacceptable, unsafe, and deeply disappointing. The service was inattentive from the start as our server barely acknowledged our table. The sea bass was first brought out completely overcooked and chewy. When we asked for it to be redone, the second plate came out raw in the middle, a serious health hazard if consumed. My husband’s pork chop was also dry and overcooked, showing zero consistency in the kitchen. It even felt retaliatory after we pointed out the first dish was poorly prepared. When we raised these concerns, the manager apologized but made no real effort to salvage what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. For a restaurant tied to such a high-end spa resort, this level of carelessness and disregard for guests is appalling. The attached photo speaks volumes about the mishandling in their kitchen. Serving raw fish is not just poor execution, it is dangerous. What should have been a memorable final evening in Ojai turned into one of the most frustrating dining experiences we have ever had. Strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value your health, your money, and your time.

Came here for lunch for my mother's birthday in early November and had made a reservation. After being seated it took over ten minutes (I timed it) and asking twice to recieve menus for the two of us. They did however compensate us for the wait with a free appetizer. Aside from the poor attention from the staff on the floor and that being inexcusable since they only had two other tables being waited on.... the food was phenomenal! If you like fine dining incorporated with American cuisine I highly recommend this place to stop at while walking around the resort. It was quite a flavorful experience!

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at The Oak at Ojai Valley Inn many times, and it never disappoints 😋. The food is always incredibly fresh 🌿, and the scenery is nothing short of breathtaking, with relaxing views of the mountains and the golf course ⛰️⛳. The service is always superb, making each visit a delight 💯. I usually go for the yogurt parfait, which is consistently delicious 🍓, but today I decided to try the breakfast burrito, and it was very good 🌯. If you’re there on a Sunday, don’t miss the special breakfast buffet—it’s truly impressive 🥞🍳.

Google
Brunch at The Oak is nothing short of exceptional. The service is seamless, from the attentive servers to the courteous valet and shuttle staff. Guests are welcomed into a pristine, elegantly designed dining area with sweeping views of the golf course, creating a refined yet inviting atmosphere. The culinary offerings are equally impressive, featuring an extensive selection that includes made-to-order omelets, crab legs, oysters on the half shell, tiger prawns, eggs Benedict, and classic breakfast favorites such as bacon and sausage. Each dish is prepared with care, delivering flavors that are both fresh and memorable. Every detail—from the ambiance to the cuisine—reflects a commitment to excellence. Brunch at The Oak is a truly indulgent experience and well worth a return.

Food was a little underwhelming. Service was good but they made some mistakes which they apologized for. Mac and cheese was way too bland for our taste.

Yelp
We went to Ojai for our wedding anniversary last month and stayed at the new Hotel El Roblar. This was the right choice for a romantic getaway, but I was curious to see the Ojai Valley Inn. We ended up going for lunch at The Oak on our way out of town. My father-in-law lives in Santa Barbara, and I guess he comes here periodically just to eat lunch. This makes sense to me, as it feels like a place a retired doctor would like, a casually upscale restaurant with an airy patio and a view of a golf course, not unlike eating in a country club. It was quiet and pleasant on a random Monday in September. There was complimentary valet through the hotel, and we walked through the elegant property on our way in. We made a reservation but it hardly seemed necessary. We were seated right away, and received very good service. We had a glass of wine each, both going for the 2022 Sanguis "Whale Song" Chardonnay. This was lovely, and went well with our al fresco lunch. The food was good, starting with a complimentary bread service of Parker House rolls with rosemary and butter. We then shared the chilled prawn cocktail and the whipped goat cheese and roasted strawberries. The prawn cocktail was great, plump and snappy, served over ice with horseradish, lemon, and cocktail sauce. The goat cheese was almost dessert-like, creamy and sweet, with those roasted strawberries, white balsamic, and mint. I think it would've been better with a little more vinegar, but it was quite tasty, spread onto the neat golden toasts that came on the side. I got the Thai shrimp bowl for my entrée, and this was solid if not that memorable, with shrimp, brown rice, avocado, red cabbage, cucumber, pickled onion, lime, and fresh herbs. I liked it a lot for the first several bites, but there was a sweet sauce on the shrimp that I got tired of eating after a while. This was a nice lunch and I'd be happy to go back on another trip to Ojai. I wouldn't drive an hour just to eat at The Oak, but I'd recommend it if you're already in town, whether or not you're staying at the Inn.

Yelp
First of all, the best thing about my experience at the Oak were the views. As a guest of the Inn, the views are always a best part wherever you are on the property. The service was ok. I felt that the waitress had a bit of an attitude, but that could have just been me. The food..Well, the OJ is not freshly squeezed and the food was mid. For the prices you pay, I think the guest could get better quality service and food.

Yelp
Upscale dining with a view of the golf course and mountains in the distance. There is free valet at this nice inn and the campus is very beautiful. The staff was friendly and interesting though the check-in area with the hostess is in the back of the restaurant. We were seated promptly and the wait staff was all very friendly. Like other reviews mentioned the food was good and tasty but not amazing. As a vegetarian they had 1 thing which was a stuffed squash with raisins, capers. Off menu there is a pasta primavera it seems. Waiter said it is the same price as the meat pastas on their menu at 37 which I think is pretty high. I tried their squash and it was tasty and I didn't taste raisins which was what I was worried about. Steaks don't come with a side so that's another order. I tried their cheesy Mac which was good. Al dente and just the right amount of sharpness. They didn't ask for the cook of the steak and we forgot to mention so it was medium well. It was cold at night and there weren't heating lamps near every table so we were cold and asked for the lamp to be turned on nearest to us. However, since the table next to us didn't want it on...we were just left cold. Overall it's 3 stars because food was decent and view wasn't as good as I thought. In addition to the heating and price, this place is A-OK! It's nice to see this nice inn and walk around too!

Yelp
Absolutely would recommend this place for a dinner! It's so so beautiful and outdoors which makes it perfect. The service was great and everyone was so friendly. The food was insanely delicious and so well prepared. Each of our entrees were fresh and seasoned so well. It felt like a gourmet meal and I'm so glad we chose to come here for dinner.

Yelp
The atmosphere here is top notch, every corner you turn is gorgeous. This restaurant has a nice view of the valleys and the golf course, and service is really great. Food here is alright, it's nothing special, but it's good enough considering how gorgeous the grounds are.
google avatar

Kayla Z.

Yelp
A beautiful location in the ojai valley inn. They have both valet and self park options. We sat outdoors and it was beautiful! We had a gorgeous view of the resort and oak tree that lit up at night! Kerian came over right away and greeted us and got our water, he was wonderful checking on us throughout the night! Our server Richard was great too! All of the food we got was fantastic! The hamachi was so refreshing! I loved my filet it was so tender and the Demi glaze sauce it came with was fantastic! I tried some of the tomahawk and it was fantastic! With the great views, food and service we will be back to enjoy again!

Yelp
5 stars for the lovely golf course view and al fresco dining on a warm spring day in April (the 'Ojai Pixie Month'). 4 stars for the food. Excellent salad and Jimmy's smash burger, both large shareable portions. Steller service as befitting a fine dining establishment. Only wishing the menu had more seafood selections. Will have to come back for weekend buffet brunch! Sure it's expensive but you are paying for some of the best views in Ojai. Parking - self parking or valet, (slow) EV charging for valet only.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. Nice view of the golf course. (I left a review on Ojai Valley Inn for the Oak restaurant so don't want to repeat everthing here.) Will be back for brunch in the future.

Yelp
Inside the Ojai Valley Inn, it's quite fun to walk around the property and look at the cockatiels right outside the restaurant. Food is delicious, I usually don't like kale but the freshness in the apple and kale salad was amazing! The view of the golf course is gorgeous but they do have heaters outside if you're worried about the weather. Overall, the quality of the ingredients are at such a high level if you aren't used to Ojai freshness. A great place for a lazy brunch!

Yelp
There's a reason the oak is located within the iconic Ojai Valley Inn. They have an excellent selection of breakfast, dinner and drinks menu items. During our stay at the inn, we exclusively visited the oak for breakfast, it was so good! The service is just impeccable - Michelin level tbh! Please try their avacado toast! Our last night we tried dinner at the oak. We were pretty full from a day of snacks all around Ojai. We shared many menu items including a filet mignon and Brussels sprouts which are our fav. The filet mignon sauce threw us off. It was giving A1 sauce. However, the steak was very tasty. The brussel sprouts... let's just say we left the whole plate at the end of our meal. They were so crispy and burnt, they fell apart at the touch. It was odd that it was never cleared from the table. Another thing to keep in mind is the price. Expect to be spending $$$ per person. Overall it's a great experience, the food, the people, and the scenery.

Yelp
Food and service was exceptional! Their brunch was probably one of the best; perhaps the best! The quality and flavor of ingredients were outstanding! The service was excellent. Kate made us feel welcome and we appreciated her. To compare - way better than Terranea Resort and Pelican Hill. Reasonably priced - you get your money's worth. Place was beautiful and the best thing was it's pet friendly. We'll definitely taking our dog next time. Cozy and friendly environment. It's like Pebble Beach but you don't need to drive far to get the wholesome experience. Pretty awesome

Yelp
I hate writing this because i am usually a huge fan of this place .. but this last time i went did quite disappoint me. I went on new year's day and everything was great until they brought out the wrong dishes for our meal... they got one item right and the other 3 wrong.. i get people make mistakes but they did nothing to resolve it. the one item that was right obviously didn't get eaten until the rest came back out. it already took a while for the food to come out initially but it took an extra 21 minutes for the correct food to come out. our waiter then avoided us the rest of our visit... they didn't offer to reheat the one dish that was correct... or didn't offer anything. idk it left a bad taste in my mouth. for the price you pay, i don't think it's right for the experience being extremely long (considering the plans we had for the day) and the service to be unpleasant really didn't leave me wanting to go back unfortunately.

Yelp
We had our anniversary dinner here and it was great! The staff was friendly and helpful. They even put a special cheese plate together to go with our wine (it was off menu). We had the filet minion and scallops which were perfectly cooked. After dinner, they let us take our drinks to relax by the nearby fire pits. It was an evening well spent!

Yelp
We came here for a post-Christmas dinner. This was supposed to be a fancy and special experience, a treat from my husband, as this was our first time on vacation in Ojai. Our entrees took over an hour to arrive. There were no glorious views because it was night time and dark. Where we were seated, my back was freezing from the cold draft coming from the kitchen side, while my face was cooking hot from the heat lamp above. When the entrees finally arrived an hour later, they were okay. Not great; not worth the high prices. The only praise I have is for our server who offered us free dessert to make up for the lateness. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
I'm going to give The Oak the benefit of the doubt; while my meal was a letdown, my dining partners' non-vegetarian entrees looked excellent so it feels unfair to judge on a salad and a side. Even so, the squash in my salad was significantly undercooked and the overall flavor wasn't very strong or precise, other than the phenomenal sun-dried tomatoes. But my main gripe was that it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Hunger overwhelmed my ability to enjoy the food to the max or to assess it fairly.

Megan K.

Yelp
We ate there twice for breakfast and once for lunch. Each time I informed the staff of my son's allergies to gluten and nuts (true allergy not a preference). The first breakfast was great, at lunch I told the Manager and my Waiter each about the allergy... they ensured me the staff is aware. They brought out a grilled cheese that looked way too normal... I asked them to double check and they said "oops we gave you the wrong one". Would have gotten 5 stars but their lack of attention and training on this matter were really disappointing. Nothing on their menu is marked gluten free despite having many options which makes it even harder. Be super careful if your child has allergies

Yelp
Rarely do I ever think I need more Stars than just 5 especially for a Brunch! The Oak in Ojai definitely does deserve more! Sal our server was excellent and kept the endless Mimosas flowing along with the coffee. The menu OMG Jumbo Shrimp oysters 2 different Crab Claws Tri-Tip, Ham & Roast Turkey and assortment of Starches along with Egg Benedict's, Waffles, French Toast & Pancakes Salads of all kinds along with assortments of fruits, danish, pastries and desserts. Dinning on the patio with a terrific view of the golf course and the Ojai Mountains what else could you ask for except they served the best Black Forest Cake ever!

Yelp
My friend and I stayed at the resort. Waking up in this transquil property, we were looking for a nourshing brunch place just steps from our room. For breakfast we had the two eggs any style and the ojai omelet. For a plate that costs 30 something I was expecting the potatoes to be more than small, dried pieces at the bottom of the tray. The bread was also toasted so much it was slightly burnt. The ojai omelet was decent. The ambiance is really what you're coming for. It is also all organic and local ingredients which is amazing. There are ample heating lamps keeping you warm in chillier mornings and cute, little sparrows flitting in and out. The servers are also calm and professional, befitting the whole experience.
google avatar

Sarah E.

Yelp
Such a great restaurant! Our service was fantastic; our assistant server Eli was attentive and our main server Rudy was so welcoming and helpful. The heaters made the patio nice and warm. The steak was a standout dish and we had a half bottle of Chablis and some of their delicious signature cocktails.

Yelp
I suppose there's a certain premium you pay for the view, but even accounting for that, the food is overwhelmingly underwhelming. We split a BLT, of which the 'B' might as well have stood for 'Boring,' 'Basic,' or 'Bet you were expecting a better sandwich for twenty-five American dollars.' I sure was. We also split the steak frites, which arrived unseasoned, poorly seared, and served at a balmy room temp--for forty-four bucks. With all the dining options in Ojai, I'd consider making lunch reservations just so you can pop onto the resort grounds to enjoy the view, and gawk at the wealthy in their natural habitat, before cancelling said reservations and saying Oh-bai to this overpriced theme park for golfers.

Sam S.

Yelp
Wonderful experience we had here. The resort was beautiful. I would say come before your reservation to just enjoy and view the property. All of our food was very good. The hummus is a must. Yelp
I'm eating this for Sunday brunch...I've never eaten here for dinner. The brunch is very good well worth the money. My advice is to get in early...maybe 9:30a, because by 10:30 or so, it's a long wait even with reservations. And yes, get a reservation. There is a meat station with lamb, tri tip, turkey breast and ham. It's tender, well cooked and good sized portions. The seafood section has oysters, huge shrimp, and crab claws...all amazing quality. There's tons of options for breakfast as well local garden favorites. If you can, wait for the tables nearest the golf course side because of the views. I'll eat this every time I'm here.

Yelp
We went on a company team building event with MediZoom Medical Transportation to Ojai and had opportunity to visit The Oak at Ojai Valley Inn & Wallace Neff Heritage Bar & the grounds for our company team building exercises. Had an amazing time. People like Jeffery and Richard from the Oak Restaurant made a lasting memorable impression and our service with Jenna at the Wallace Neff Heritage Bar was amazing! We will definitely be back again next year for the same company retreat and again this year for a personal visit! Thanks for the great service and a place to remember experience, service, food!!

Gilda M.

Yelp
Nice view during lunch. The service was good. The manager was making sure the table settings are done perfectly. The food was light and really tasteful

Jose F.

Yelp
You can't beat the ambiance of this place and the drinks and the wedge salad were very good! Service was spotty at best and the market fish was okay for how much it was. I had asked for the NY Strip Medium Rare and they served it to me at medium. I'll def change it up next time I go

Yelp
Absolutely recommend going for the breakfast buffet; reasonable price for a great amount of high quality food! For dinner, highly recommended the chicken; honestly, might be the best I've ever had.
google avatar

Yelp
The ambience on a sunny but chilly January day was the main draw. We also enjoyed the fantastic service (thank you Manny) and the tasty food (crispy chicken sandwich and spaghetti pomodoro were delicious). It's not haute cuisine, but it is very pleasant and peaceful setting.

Yelp
Date Night!!!!!!! With 6 kids date nights are few and far between during this era of life so for this one we decided to finally get over to the Ojai Valley Inn and have dinner at The Oak. Now this was the first time we had gone down Country Club dr and it was night so it was a bit confusing with the dark roads and no moon light. We finally made it and parked to find a sprawling resort, so much so there are shuttle carts and stops to help deliver you to your desired location. We got to the restaurant and checked in for our reservation. We were promptly seated with a beautiful view of an oak tree light up beautifully with floating lights on the branches. The evening was cool but had tons of heaters to stay warm. The staff was amazing from hostess to bus boy, waitress and servers! It bummed me out to see people talk down to the staff or even worse just ignore their existence so we made sure to give as much praise to these employees as possible. The menu was amazing because everything possible was sourced from local Ojai farms and ranches!! I'll support that all day!! The menu has about 4-5 options for each category which is nice and easier to decide. With the ability to order a little something from all sections and course it out you can get the full experience. With complementary Parker house rolls we decided to get the fried chicken bites, the NY strip, Ribeye, Truffle Fries and Roasted Brussels sprouts. The rolls were warm and fluffy with butter on the side, the chicken bites crispy juicy with an amazing honey sauce on the chicken and slightly spicy citrus dipping sauce. The steaks were cooked perfectly to choice, with the NY Strip served with a peppercorn jus that makes your mouth water and has to be one of the top two steaks I have ever eaten!! The Ribeye with a garlic butter pad to flavor the beefy fatty ribeye! The side dishes are massive each one easily shared by two so mix and match to your desire.

Yelp
We have been here twice for breakfast and can say - you are getting what you are paying for however be ready to pay for it. Our service was great and they do call you by your name provided - i.e. Mr and Mrs Last Name. We are not married but I did not see it offensive. They are impeccable with clearing plates and checking on you enough to where you wait for nothing but don't feel rushed. I got the Malt and Vanilla Waffle with berries, homemade almond butter and homemade Vanilla Whipped Cream. My boyfriend got the feta and tomatillo eggs (2 poached) with toast. He got a cortado and I got a caramel latte - one of the best I've had. I appreciate that the menu is not typical bacon and eggs rather fresh and depth of flavor combos. No, the portions aren't huge but why do they need to be? I would rather enjoy my entire meal and latte without feel like a golf ball on the green. Yes, you are paying for the view and ambiance however it would be completely expected given the hotel you're visiting. While a very specific note, one that I noticed, the mugs for lattes have a volcanic, unglazed finish on the outside that is difficult to get past. The same, slightly unfinished feeling is on some of the plates. This levels an odd feel on the lips where drinking and even on your hands when holding the cup and scraping on the plates. Some people may not mind this, but I found the fact to be immediately noticeable. While being here twice, I would recommend however I would note the cost if visiting as to not shock the masses. If this is not a concern, the air of ambiance around a rather upscale crowd is lovely to casually dine among.

Unhinged Review ..

Yelp
10/10 service, hospitality, and ambiance. Definitely a place for a romantic evening. The food is a completely different story. My boyfriend and I both got the salmon dish for dinner and honestly, what the fuck. Mind you, we each took a gummy vitamin ;) to enhance the culinary experience but it still fell short. For $40 a plate, I could have gone to Trader Joe's instead, buy salmon, and make it better myself for a quarter of the price. The portion was small, and they only gave 4 cauliflower per salmon that tasted bland. We left still feeling hungry. According to the menu, the salmon came with a dill concoction but it was nowhere to be seen or tasted. The bread they offered was really really good. It tasted freshly made with the right amount of butter and salt. It was slightly crunchy on the outside but had a very soft warm inside. Overall, I would come back again for the service and ambiance but I would not get the salmon dish. Maybe there's something better worth trying on the menu but I'm going to have lower expectation to avoid being disappointed.

Yelp
We came for the Sunday brunch buffet, and it was quite impressive. The view was very pretty. The patio sits among beautiful oak trees on the golf course. They have a Blue Grass band that plays every Sunday, which made it even more relaxing. The buffet offered lots of food options. I was especially impressed with the crab claws and raw oysters. Everything I had tasted great. The service was very quick and all the staff was friendly. It is a little pricey at $75 per person, but there were so many different food items I was able to try. There is also an option to add on unlimited mimosas for an additional $20. It's also nice that they offer free valet parking at the resort. I would say the Sunday brunch is worth trying out.

Yelp
The best Sunday brunch around! We had 3 consecutive meals here during our stay and enjoyed each experience even more. Beautiful views, warm service and delicious fresh food. We shared a filet for dinner and for lunch we had the fried chicken sandwich and salmon bowl. Recommend them all. The Sunday brunch is an incredible value, a great experience with love music and delicious breakfast and lunch options. We most enjoyed the omelette bar, seafood and fresh fruit. I felt lucky to spend my birthday weekend here!

Yelp
The service and ambience deserve more than five stars. Jeremy and his assistant Manny were great - attentive, personable and knowledgeable. The setting was magical. The brie cheesecake dessert was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The pastry chef should be commended. The rest of the food was OK. I loved my filet mignon but found the spinach and mac & cheese side dishes to be mediocre at best. The blue cheese wedge was nothing special. The dish I absolutely disliked was the cabbage entrée. It was just wrong at every level.

Kelly M.

Yelp
Food amazing, service even better than the food, ambience... well... Ojai Valley Inn under the stars and beautiful sparkly oak trees. Perfection.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and pretty good service but the food was mostly just alright. It's good for convenience while you're staying at the resort but honestly going into town isnt too far so if I came back, I'd probably just go into town or get a quick pastry at the coffee shop For dinner: - the salsa served with the guacamole was not good, really lacking flavor - the mushrooms served in the middle of the Acorn Squash dish were way too salty. Bummer because the squash itself was quite good - the risotto served with the Scallops dish was undercooked! The rice grains were still kind of hard and my mother couldnt finish eating it - enjoyed the lobster pasta dish For breakfast: - the avocado toast was alright but without any toppings, I can't justify the price - the breakfast potatoes were way too salty - the chai latte was not good. Too sweet and not enough spice / tea flavor - the frittata didnt have much flavor on its own, had to keep adding the salsa - the acai bowl was too sweet after a while because of the toppings, like the sweet granola - the lavender lemonade was unbearably sweet, they put way too much lavender simple syrup in it

Yelp
We went for breakfast during our So-Cal road trip in August 2025. Location and Ambiance: 4 Stars (I took 1 off because they didn't have any fans going to dim the 100 degree heat). Food: 4 Stars. I ordered the lox and a green juice, Partner ordered the Chilaquiles and carrot juice (huge portions). I took 1 star off for freezing cold butter, cold coffee and no creamer for coffee. Service was good but nothing over the top. Breakfast menu was limited.

Gary V.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic 5+ star experience tonight. Service fantastic, food fantastic, ambiance beyond fantastic. It was raining and being able to sit outdoors, stay dry, have heaters and watch the rain come down through 200 year old oak trees was amazing. Baked Brie appetizer a must have and 10+. Wedge salad really good and the smoked bacon on it was so good. NY steak with peppercorn sauce a 10+. Roasted carrots and Brussel sprouts 10+. Warm rolls and salted butter to start so good. Just wish I remembered the name of our server as she was great and had been there 9 years. Overall a fantastic evening!

Yelp
Great restaurant on the resort property. Primarily outdoor seating but they have heat lamps for when it's cold. Excellent waiter (Kameron) for dinner service! Overall solid menu with tasty apps, entrees, and dessert options. The mushroom ravioli was amazing, and I highly recommend! Plenty of wine, cocktail, and beer options. Great view of the golf course during the day. Overall I highly recommend if you are staying at the resort. Make reservations on Open Table in advance.

Yelp
I love the Ojai Valley Inn so when my friend said she was spending the weekend there I decided to meet her for lunch. Alisa and a young gentleman were helping us and service was fantastic. The lavender lemonade was a great start. I ordered the steak salad and my friend had the smash burger. I would order both of these again. My steak came out as a perfect med rare. For desert I had the strawberry shortcake which I give an A+. Then I tried my friends sorbet which was delicious but the raspberry was a little too tart for me. I love the ambiance and the view. Great lunch spot!

Yelp
The view and location of the Oak is excellent. I've been there twice in the past six months and found the food to be mediocre both times. Heads-up, last week it took us over an hour to get our food.

Yelp
The food here is normal and okay, except that the amount was really low. For example, we ordered a PB & J for 11 dollars with only two tiny triangle pieces. Another thing was the time. We waited one and a half hours for our food and that is not a good thing. The service was alright, but this was a very disappointing experience. We watched other people com and leave. When we came, the sun was shining nicely, but when we left, it was already nighttime. Overall, our experience was horrid. The restaurant has many places they need to improve on. The view was nice and all, but other than that, it was bad.

Yelp
Beautiful outdoor setting overlooking the golf course and oak trees. It was nice to see they had a decent amount of vegan options. The vegan enchiladas at dinner were really flavorful. For breakfast I had the tempeh hash without the eggs and it was so good! I also ordered the vegan banana bread. The hummus was good but the pita bread was extremely salty as was the guacamole.

Yelp
Last week, my husband and I spent our honeymoon in Ojai. We made reservations at The Oak for dinner Friday night, with request of indoor seating. We arrived at our reservation on time and the host brought us to a table outside. We notified our waiter we requested indoor seating and he said he would go to see what happened. The host came back to us and approached us with " I was told you would like to sit inside" we answered with "yes, we requested indoor seating when we made the reservation". He said okay I will go look to make sure that's still available. He came back 5 minutes later with " Are you sure you'd like to sit inside, it's LONELY". He proceeded to tell us that there wasn't anyone inside when we clearly saw people inside and there were tables available. We responded with yes, we would like to sit inside, we would rather not be cold. He continued to try to convince us to stay outside to eat two more times. He finally said okay and started to walk us inside. As we were walking past a table he asked " would you like to try this table instead, there are more heaters". Flabergasted and disappointed this horrendous rude service exists at The Ojai Inn.

Yelp
My ratings for our recent lunch: Roasted Beet Salad - A Pasta Pomodore - F Happens to be my favorite, simple pasta dish, however what I was served had nothing to do with what was described on the menu. Catch of the Day - F Filet of Sole, embarrassing French Fries - A+ Pepper Steak - good, but tiny $44 Cappuccino & Coffee - F (see through) Bread - F awful The portions are overall tiny. If I should return to this beautiful setting, I would order a portion of French Fries and a good glass of wine Overall, very disappointing experience. We spent about $450 for a five persons lunch.

Yelp
Is it possible to have a 5 Star experience at one restaurant in a resort, and a 2 Star at another one?: Unfortunately, Yes! Its Two Star 2uesday again!!!!' The Oak is the all day restaurant at Ojai Valley Inn. We had breakfast before we played golf and I had the lox & bagel. The dish itself was okay, albeit on the smaller side for the price. However, the reason for the rating is the entire team fail in service. On 5/11 around 9 am I asked four staff members, including the mgr for more hot water for my tea. The answer was always, no problem sir. Apparently it was a problem bc the hot water never came. Secondarily, I asked for a cup of coffee to go. The first time I asked, it never came. I had a ask again. Lastly, the same thing happened when we asked for the check. If you are going to charge resort prices, you better give resort service! The foregoing, coupled with the lack of capacity seating, and tables that were not 6 feet apart, means I will not return when I come to play golf again. I'd rather hit McD's in town before you come to the resort. At least I know I'll get what the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffet gets when he goes: A cheap breakfast w/ fast service.

Yelp
We came here for my Birthday Dinner. We made reservations in May. When you arrive you have to valet park. We were told to go through a door and The Oak would be right there. NOTHING!!! was there! A girl in a cart came by and took us to The Oak. NEVER would have found on our own. We arrive and there is SO MANY KIDS running around everywhere. We asked for a quiet table and we were seated in a corner. A server came by to ask about drinks . " I asked for a Beefeaters and tonic. He wasn't sure if they had Beefeaters. He would check. Okay. Another server VICTOR came up and said "he is new, I'll get your drinks". We got our drinks and told VICTOR we would enjoy the drinks for a bit. An Hour later, we had to find VICTOR. WE were hungry. We had ordered a bottle of wine with our drinks. NEVER brought glasses or the wine. After our salads, still NO WINE. About 20 minutes later we saw VICTOR and told him not to bring the wine. He left a wine by the glass menu but NEVER CAME BACK!! Someone else brought the dinner. I asked that server for a glass of wine. VICTOR much later brought the desert menu. We told him nothing for us. Wanted to get out of there. 10 minutes later VICTOR brings a small desert with a candle. He knew it was my Birthday, He mentioned it when we sat down. DAMAGE ALREADY DONE!! The kicker was my Husband gave VICTOR a $100 bill. for change. He gave it to the male manager for change. VICTOR left the change that was in a separate BILL BOOK. When my Husband opened it we were shorted $10. Called the manager over( VICTOR not around). She counted the money( 3 $20's 2 $5's 1 $10 and 10 singles). Total 90. She talked to the original manager who made change. You could tell he was mad to be called out. She came over and said" She had to take $10 from upstairs. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?? VICTOR wanted to know why the manager was at our table, and he said " I GUESS I SHOULD HAVE COUNTED IT BEFORE I GAVE IT TO YOU." WE WILL NEVER GO BACK! AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!

Yelp
I went there for my birthday with my kids. It's beautiful at night and comfortable even when it's a bit chilly outside due to their numerous space heaters. The food and service here were the best we've had in 20 years living in Ventura county. Everything was absolutely delicious- the drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. It's a must visit.

Yelp
The Oak is the main restaurant at Ojai Valley Inn. Outdoor seating, nice view of the golf course and the resort grounds. Started with the pixie margarita - not bad! Blue crab salad - the kitchen split the salad and it was a nice starter. Lobster spaghetti with a spicy arrabiatta sauce - delicious. Sea bass - not that great - the sauce poured on top of the sea bass overpowered the entree, and ruined the entree. Service - 4 stars Food - 3.5 stars Ambiance- 4 stars Prices- 3 stars - Expensive for dinner, 2 cocktails, salad and 2 entrees was $150
