The Oak Tavern

The filet steak and sweet potato fries were great. The catfish was also good. However, the broccoli and hush puppies were both over peppered in our opinion unfortunately. Overall, the restaurant has great atmosphere whether day or night. Also, the staff was generally attentive and helpful, but it was a slow night.

Fried tickles, Shrimp and crawfish fondue, was excellent. Ceaser Salad is great, go light on the dressing it’s very strong. Sicilian chicken was a little toasty but overall good. Atmosphere is the best part. Overall, a hidden gem.

This Tavern is simply great. Located inside the Marriott Hotel. First and foremost the service...is superior. Our waiter..Surf...gave us the best service ever..gave recommendations which were delicious. And the food...you must try for yourself. Ours entrees and appetizers were GREAT!!! The manager checks with guest on food and service..5☆ experience. .

Really quiet and mature place where you can still have fun and good food. Only reason I have a four was the service. She was slow, inattentive, and often we had to hound her for drinks or just to get her attention. She also wasn’t very confident when it came to asking for changes to items. The steak, wickle bites, fried green tomatoes, and quesadillas were great. The drinks were also mostly good (some a bit sweet or lacking enough liquor). There is a lot of seating and no kids around. There is an outside seating area with fire pits and live music. Good parking. It is located by a golf course and hotel.

We had an excellent experience at Oak Tavern. From the moment we arrived, the service was truly exceptional—attentive, welcoming, and genuinely focused on making sure we enjoyed our meal. A special honorable mention to Chef David, who personally came out to check on us. That level of care and attention speaks volumes about the pride and passion behind the food and the overall dining experience.

Okay. One positive thing. The fried wickles are delicious. Kind of a sweet pickle deep fried in a beer batter and a great dill dip. Love them so much!! So many down sides other than this. Service sucks so bad!! Slooowwww! Also, These crab cakes are pitiful for the price. Like come on. $23 for two of the tiniest crab cakes I’ve ever seen in over 7 states traveling and ordering them. They taste good but def not worth the price for portion. The drink service was super slow!!! One order took 19 minutes to get a glass at the table. Every drink order was 10-15 delay. And the bartender had just one customer at one point. Maybe it was the old man waiting our table or the bar tender. I don’t know. Service sucked. Also, they had a two person band playing outside in the 80+ degree heat for a group of 5 outside. Meanwhile there are 30 of us inside and can’t hear the music. Brilliant guys. Also. We were charged an outrageous $19 per drink for a simple bourbon mule with Buffalo Trace. Shocking up charge for a simple drink with a cheap bourbon. Don’t waste your money here.

Our server did the very best she could. She had two huge parties and other tables as well. She was friendly, personable and got everything right. With the exception of several people’s salads coming out after their meal had been served. However, we got there around 6 and didn’t get our food for 2 and a half hours. We had a 5 year old with us and he had school the next day. It was very hard to wait patiently that long. We mostly got all our adult beverages from the bar ourselves because she was too busy to take care of it. Someone in the party asked to speak to a manager and there wasn’t one available. I have been a server and it sure makes for a long night if you are understaffed. They did give him a card. I hate to say it because I really enjoyed the atmosphere with the music and food but I would think twice before returning because that was a very unpleasant experience for all of us. Not because the server didn’t try her best. But she is only one person. Also let me add, I have been a server and worked in restaurants. We made a point not to hold the server accountable for either a slow or understaffed kitchen and servers. With all of the competing restaurants that we have now you guys will have to do better. I do know we called and let them know the day before.

This restaurant is a classy place for family and friends or possibly for a date night. The food was great. The service was a 10/10. I definitely will be returning back.

Oak Tavern sets quite the scene. We dined on the patio area with a nice view of the golf course. They had large tv screens to view different sporting events and fire pits that would be great for evening drinks with friends. The service was very good. We had several employees check in on us during our visit. They didn't have a menu listing non alcoholic drinks but the waitress brought us one "refreshing" and one "sweet" mocktail that lived up to the description. I ended up getting the Sicilian chicken with a side of street corn. The street corn was kind of odd, quite a few overly charred pieces of corn mixed in as well. An improvement could be made in the vegetable side options overall. They don't seem to pair well with any of the dishes available on the menu. The Sicilian chicken was very flavorful. The chicken was crispy and juicy. My only complaint is the pepperoni added on top of the chicken. They tasted very thin and of low quality. Honestly they were unnecessary and I ended up picking them off from under the cheese.

Sorry, but this place doesn't get a good review from me. I usually say nothing, if not leaving a good review, but for this place I'll make an exception. Service was terrible, waitress was off in the corner talking with other staff while not taking care of the 3 tables she was not serving well. I was about ready to get up and get her when another staff caught my eye and brought me silverware after my meal was already on my table. The soup (which I bought as an add-on, because it wasn't included in my pasta dinner as an option) was so bad I left it; the waitress asked if I liked it (in my mind I thought , no I didn't like it, that's why it's still there, almost same as when you brought it to me) ... The baked chicken on pasta with marinara was well over-cooked & dried-out, even with a a side of marinara added to the dish it was "so-so" at best. With 2 beers my tab was over $60... With tip $80... what a waste of an opertunity to enjoy an "end of a busy week nice meal".

This was a very good experience. The server Ari was really nice and did a great job! The place was very clean and they have the most beautiful view. The food took longer than I'd prefer it to take to be served to us however it wasn't too bad. The food was well prepared and I enjoyed it. Only thing I'd change is for the salmon to have a little be a bit more seasoned however I enjoyed it. Overall a great experience and I'd definitely go back.

It's improved quite a bit since we went last. Hailey was our waitress and she was pleasant and very efficient. We tried the batter fried bacon (OMG so good but with syrup). My wife ordered a salad with steak and there was a full steak laying on top of that salad and inch thick. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and Mexican corn and it was exceptional. All I could eat about 1/3 of the chicken fried steak as it was so big. But I didn't like was they charged me for extra gravy because the thing was so big. I ended up taking it home but charging me for a full order of mashed potatoes cause I want a little bit of gravy seems ridiculous. I'll give it five stars, but they charge you to death. Charged me for butter as well.

Conveniently located inside the Marriott this restaurant and bar serves all variety of drinks and food. While the food is good it's not worth the wait. The staff was attentive but the kitchen took awhile to prepare the food. Reservations are available for small or large groups. There is indoor and outdoor seating as well.

I've played golf on the RTJ Capitol Hill in Prattville numerous times over the years but this was the first time I ate at Oak Tavern on the grounds. It's a nice restaurant with golf themes. The wait staff for our party of 25 was fantastic. The chef even came out to visit us after the meal. I had the Pan Seared Grouper along with Sweet Potato Fries. The grouper was delicious but those sweet potato fries were out of this world good. We'll definitely be back again for dinner.

Good food, good drinks and attentive service. The outdoor fire pits and TVs were nice to have as well to catch a game and it looks like they have a nice happy hour that I would not mind checking out if I am in the area. I would recommend this place to others to try if in the Prattville area and I will visit again.

My husband and I came here for steaks and drinks. Our orders came out wrong. We were told our meal would be comped 50%. We started eating the wrong meal anyway and they then came and took away the meal and brought out our original order. Except, my husband's steak came out well done instead of the medium well he ordered. We just ate it because it had already taken longer than expected to get to eat. The meal was not good. Very underwhelming steak at best. They did not comp our meal as promised. We paid $155 for the most pitiful meal I've had in a very long time. We honestly could have fared better at Long Horn. Lesson learned and we will never be back.

The manager Chris does an incredible job. He was more than accommodating and ensured our experience was top notch. Beautiful place with friendly staff.

The Oak Tavern was wonderful!! We were looking for something with a view and did we find it!! Not only was the view and ambiance wonderful and so was the staff!! We came at an odd time, but no one had a problem with that. They were very welcoming and attentive! It was not even 3:00 PM on a Saturday, and our day was not going as planned. We were laughing when I told our waiter we only needed 1 glass for the bottle of wine....because it had been a day. He laughed with us when I told him. Our food was good. I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Everything, including the fries, came out hot, fresh, and perfect! When we were fi ished, he carefully bagged the remaining bottle of wine for us so we could take it with us. On a side note, the chef came out to help another table that had diatery needs. You do not often see a chef come out of the kitchen, so we were pleasantly surprised when we saw this

Beautiful setting. Not so great food. Rude service. Server didn't know what happy hour included or what desserts they offered. Asked for water and server rolled eyes at me. Asked for pepper and she brought a plastic grinder and slammed it down. Forgot to bring my husband's drink and her excuse was "we got busy". They got busy well after he ordered it. Place did get full with several loud intoxicated guys who were smoking cigars. One of them was passed out in a chair. Hostess was very kind..

Food and service were both outstanding! Not an inexpensive place, but worth the money for sure. What other restaurant do you know that can boast having a barbecued brisket macaroni and cheese sandwich?? Oak Tavern is an awesome dining experience that I will visit again and again.

After 4 years of annual trips to the Marriott, it's gone into a decline. Big menu change, no more conecuh quesadillas or the great desserts of the past. Service was decent but nothing as good as the years past. Usually we have 2-3 meals there during a two night stay but we skipped Saturday night for a better option of gas station food and service

I want to give a shout out to Oak Tavern. They provide a buffet on major holidays such as Easter, Mother's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas. I try to go on those holidays as often as possible because I celebrate the holidays alone and they provide a warm, comforting place to celebrate with caring staff and good food. I couldn't recommend them more highly

In Prattville at R T Jones's golf course, Senator. Oak Tavern is right off hole 17 par 5 of the SENATOR. They close from 2 to 5? Daily but reopen for supper and cocktails with music until 10 pm Great place for a cocktail after a long 18 holes. ALABAMA sun in Sept can get hot and very humid. Located in Marriott.

One of the best dining experiences I've ever had. My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary and the folks from Oak Tavern made it special. Great service, good food, huge portions. Thanks to our server Sky. Everything was just perfect!

Food took 1.5 hours after ordering. Must be a new restaurant; they clearly did not have their operation organized. Food when it finally came was ok not great. Looked like a nice patio with good view of the golf course.

It's not bad, it's not great. Nice place, good views. Service was friendly. Food was fine, no complaints, but nothing beyond "pretty good".

It was decent. I went there not knowing what to expect. We walked in without reservations. It was pretty busy. Live music was setting up. Fantastic atmosphere. We didn't have great service. I'll chalk it up to that night. They have an amazing back patio. I had a friend tell me, since we walked in we should have eaten at the bar. I think it's worth a second try.

We decided to do a date night on a Thursday. I found out that they have live music every night! We show up and got seated by Lily. She was awesome! Our food was AMAZING! My boyfriend ordered the steak and I had the salmon. Completely worth going! We will go again soon.

Hard to be invisible at the bar but somehow I have achieved the impossible Prime rib night for 19.99 They say the meat is 16-22oz... They also said it's gone so no prime rib. Paid for my 2 beers and left. The rest of the menu is boring and expensive. Going to find a tequlia bar.

This place is a hidden gem!! Great food, great service and amazing atmosphere/views. Highly recommend!!!

This was a nice place to go away from all the typical places to eat. We chose the grouper. Definitely worth ordering. Also had a raspberry lemon drop martini. There was live music which really set the mood for a relaxing night with friends after a long week. Looking forward to returning as the weather gets cooler and eat outside.

Ate breakfast at the Oak Tavern during our stay at the Montgomery Marriott Prattville and what a delight. The views of the golf course from the restaurant were a beautiful sight. DeAsia, our server, was so sweet. The food and prices were fair for a hotel breakfast (non-continental). Overall very pleased and certainly will return.

Amazing steaks, staff, and oh my goodness try the grouper. You seriously can't beat the views. Breakfast is great. The buffet is the way to go. No better place to eat in Prattville!

Service is horrible! 30 minutes to just get drinks for a large party. Not recommended!

It was absolutely fantastic. Took my mother there because we didn't want to eat the same old boring chain restaurant stuff. We had the conecuh sausage quesadilla as an appetizer which was amazing & only $5 during happy hour. I had a Common Bond draft beer which I thoroughly enjoyed & is brewed right here in the River region. Mom got a Buffalo Chicken Flatbread pizza & I had the pan seared grouper with peach beurre blanc sauce both were awesome. I very highly recommend this nice little spot here at the RTJ Capitol Hill!

Buffalo chicken pizza was pretty embarrassing. I've had better pizza from a gas station (not exaggerating)

Great staff! Favorite part of my meal was the appetizers. We had the Cajun shrimp and crawfish fondue - cannot rave about this one enough! So good. Also, we ordered the fried wickles (another must try!). Will definitely be coming back

I wish there was a zero star. We are staying at a suite here and are playing 36 holes of golf tomorrow. It could only go uphill from here. The restaurant staff is hostile, scarily so. We ordered an entree size spinach salad and the 1/2 chicken, in-house smoked entree. The salad was fine, the chicken was anorexic. A Cornish game hen would intimidate it. After eating the three bites, and I am NOT exaggerating we asked for the chef who explained it had shrunk. Avoid this restaurant at all costs.

I give it 0 stars. Restaurant is horrible. We came to watch the LPGA event, and my wife and I decided to stay Sunday night to play golf Monday. Hotel is nice and comfortable with good views, and we decided to eat here rather than drive the short distance to one of the local chains. Huge mistake. When I went in to make sure we could get a table, no one was working except the bartender. One table occupied inside, one outside, and one guy at the bar, yet the bartender was rude from the first. It was so deserted at 7 pm I thought I better ask if the were open for supper, and bartender gave me a one word, mean sounding, "yes." Same thing when I asked if we could sit outside. She then said she would also serve us. Went outside and waited about 15 minutes when a different waitress showed up without menus. She had no idea what beers they had, so we gave her some choices and she had to write down "blue moon" and " corona" because not only did she not know if they had them, but what they were. Another customer came by and asked if we were going to eat, and we said, if we ever get menus. He said he was local and knew where they were, and he went and got menus for us. Yes, another customer brought us the menus, and staff never did. Eventually, the bartender came back with our beers and we ordered an appetizer, and said we would be ready in a minute. No one came back for about 25 minutes, and so we decided not to eat supper. The waitress finally came back with our appetizer, which turned out to be a tiny serving for the price, so we just asked for the check. That, too, took a while, and the other patron explained that this was normal bad service at this restaurant, and despite a great view and convenience and being basically the default hotel for a golf resort, it was always bad due to the service. A different waiter eventually brought our check, and he was very nice, but the rest of the staff was lazy at best, rude at worst. Marriott should investigate and either restaff this restaurant or shut it down. Too bad, the golf courses are beautiful and it could be a real destination hotel, like the one at Ross Bridge in Birmingham, but this restaurant is really, really horrible.

This place gets the job done if you don't feel like leaving the hotel. Service was friendly and only slightly slow. But the food was good. I tried the burger at dinner and the breakfast buffet the next day. The burger came out with the wrong toppings, but I didn't feel like pointing it out after a tiring day of travel. But the breakfast buffet was pretty good - omelette station (if you can find the person running it), scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit (actual berries, not just melon!), yogurt and cereals.

Location is quite out of the way. You'll have to be heading here on purpose as you won't find it by accident...unless you're staying at the Marriott its attached to. Went with a small group on a Thursday, which was the bar's date night. Very good one man guitar player/singer positioned next to the bar. Just the right volume. Great view of the golf course from the outside seating area. Menu was very limited. Their date night special, which was a shared appetizer and two entrées for $30. Other choice was the happy hour menu, which was not available after happy hour. We had a shared quesadilla with burger and chicken wrap. Overall they were OK. Ordered Sam Adams seasonal and it was the wrong season with Oktoberfest. Order a Corona and it was skunky. Wait staff was OK, but not very enthusiastic and fairly slow. Not a terrible experience, but likely not going to return unless for a beer after a round of golf.

The five stars are for our server Melodie who was absolutely amazing. Very attentive and friendly. However, we were sat by the bar, given it was an extremely slow night, and the bartender pitched a fit because we were in her section, so we were asked to move tables. The table we were at never got sat. Very unprofessional. But overall the food was outstanding and our waitress Melodie did a great job!

Stayed at the hotel for one night. Dinner in the restaurant with a group of friends. Service was good, food was average. Generous portion of salmon, OK garlic mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables fresh. The salmon was not real fresh.

This was one of the worst service experiences I have had at a bar in town. The bartender obviously was not having it that night. She barely greeted us and never offered a menu. We had to ask on several different occasions if she had certain mixers, until finally WE had to ask for a menu. The best part was after we had finished our drinks, she was nowhere to be found. We finally found a nice gentlemen to ring us up and settle our bill. Props to him for stepping in!

My wife and I were in the area for business. She was craving a good steak and we both found the Oak Tavern. It looked like it had potential. My wife even called ahead to request a reservation, just in case. We stated we would arrive around 5:45 PM. Google Maps took us on a little bit of an unintended site seeing tour. We arrived at approximately 6:00 PM. We were met by a gentleman whom we later told was the manager. My wife apologized for our tardiness and was assured that it was not a problem. We were shown to a table along the windows overlooking the golf course. Our drink order was taken and arrived shortly thereafter with water and lemon for my wife and iced tea for me. The gentleman who seated us stated that A----- would be our server and she would be by soon to take our orders. As we looked at the menu we noticed the restaurant was empty except for a couple of guests at the bar about 50 feet away and some staff members who watch the local news on one of the TV's in the dining area. No A-----. We looked at our menus a bit more. No A-----. We looked out the window at the golf course for a while. No A-----. More minutes ticked by. No A-----. I flagged down one of the staff who was watching TV. The young lady, who later told us she was the hostess, asked if we needed something. I said yes, we'd kinda like to order. I stated that the gentleman who seated us said A----- would be our server. She turned and literally ran off calling for the manager. In a few moments a young lady, the bar tender, A-----, walked over to take our orders. We explained we selected this restaurant and were prepared to pay a premium for a good meal and service. A----- seemed indifferent. At this point, my wife and I stood to leave. As we left the building and were walking toward our car, a voice from behind was calling, Ma'am, ma'am. We turned and the hostess was following us to ask what was wrong and if there was something that could be done. We expressed our disgust about being ignored and not given proper customer service. We stated we would be calling Marriott to register our complaint. The hostess tried to be attentive and was apologetic. After speaking with her, we went on our way. When we got in our car, my wife called the hotel and spoke to a person who listened to the entire story. We were assured that someone would call my wife the next morning. That was two days ago. We never got through the service to be able to review the food....

Hats off to the staff and management of the Oak Tavern. We spent a great evening with our group in the Oak Tavern, I think they kept it open an extra hour for us. The second night we were going out to eat; stopped by to have one drink with a friend. The music was good, singer and bar-keep friendly, just could not find reason to leave. Another excellent meal and fun, relaxing evening. This place felt like home.

We went there for our anniversary, restaurant was mostly empty but the waiter and staff were very attentive, and I believe it was the best steak I ever had, but it is pricey, so we can only go there on special occasions!

We saw some pretty mixed reviews on other sites via Google but we thought we would give this place a try while on our golf trip last week. It was super close to where we were staying and it looked like a stand alone mom and pop kind of place on the map. When we pulled up, we realized it was part of the Marriott and it's convention center so that turned us off a little before we even entered the building. The restaurant was empty except for a few people at the bar. They had a guy playing the guitar and singing in the bar area for live entertainment but he wasn't the best we've heard. The service is what makes this review so bad. The waitress really did not care about us. It was one of those situations where it was so dead that the service was dead too. I feel like sometimes it can be the other extreme where it's so busy and you can't find someone to get a drink but this was the opposite and just as bad. She placed our order for drinks but it was a good 15-20 minutes before she came back to place our food order. The food was decent but nothing to write home about. I got the mac & cheese with steak on top which was actually pretty good but my buddy got the burger and it was dry and not cooked to his liking. The place has mad potential but it was not a good night for us to be eating there. They have a really big dinning room that looks good for the brunch buffet that Holli D. raved about but it was empty and not fun. The bar area is in it's own little room and then they have a big outside eating area with big fire pits. I would like to come back with big group on a busy night or bring the wife on a nice weather night in the fall to have a drink by the fire but other than that I would not recommend the Oak Tavern.

Sunday brunch at $14.95 is WELL worth it! Absolutely delicious!!! A mixture of breakfast & full dinner. Omlet & waffle making station. Fish, chicken, prime rib. The salmon was amazing & the desserts.....OMGOSH!

They have a great Sunday brunch! It is very affordable for my family of 5. The service has always been great, and the food excellent. You have a buffet full of lunch and breakfast items. There is a separate table for a great selection of fruits, salads, and cheeses. They have an omelette/pancake bar set up for customized ordering. Don't forget to visit the many selections on the dessert table! Lastly, the view is very nice.

The place feels like a private country club. It was quiet and for that reason was great for our lunch work meeting. I had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries. It was seriously the best turkey burger I have ever had. I will definitely return.

Once again we came here for breakfast as part of my Marriott Rewards Platinum status. The lady that waited on us was great but that's where it stopped. Because they are preparing for their Sunday brunch they seemed to ignore our order in the kitchen. The staff was clearly annoyed that we came in. We were told that since they already cleared the breakfast buffet we would have to pay the difference from it and what we ordered from the menu, even though it's not our fault they cleared if early. Unfortunately besides the lady that helped us, and the food, which was good, the experience was very bad.

This seemed like it would be a good restaurant based on the fact that it is located in the Marriott at the Robert Trent Jones golf course. However, after we order an appetizer that were burned and two entrees that were over cooked and lacked flavor, we were extremely disappointed and left hungry... Wouldn't recommend it and will also inform Marriott. I'm an elite member with Marriott and have never had a bad experience until now.

Staying at the hotel, so came here for happy hour, 2 or 3 until 7. Only select appetizers are on sale with $3 beers and a few other drinks specials. Happy hour appetizers weren't looking too good, so we ordered the hummus and pimento platter. It came with carrot sticks that you would put on a salad and over cooked pita bread. As soon as we ordered, we started looking for other places to go. The main menu had some good options but seemed a little pricey. Service was less than mediocre. Nice view of the golf course. Hopefully it's better for breakfast...

I agree with all previous reviews. We are staying here for two nights and decided to check out the bar. There were only two other groups in there. The bartender couldn't bother to smile or greet us. I finally got up to get a menu. When she finally came over, we asked to see a wine menu. That was ignored so I got up again to grab that. Total lack of giving a crap. Prices are good for a hotel bar.
