The Oberoi Cecil, Shimla

My second visit to this hotel it does not disappoint. Wonderfully situated for sight seeing, a rest or a quick get away. This heritage hotel is beautifully appointed inside and out. Our suite was stunning and comfortable but from previous experience I also speak highly of their high standards of housekeeping and appointment of all rooms. The buffet and al a carte menus are superb, dietary requirements are attended. Without doubt the best asset of the hotel is its staff from housekeeping staff who were excellent to management. The kitchen staff has excellent chefs. The restaurant manager Mukul cares about quality and his team, all can be commended but we would like to mention, Tanushree, Amber, Sylvester and Meren. We are impressed with the Oberoi's commitment to their individualised training programme with recognised qualifications. Arti on reception greeted us and became a firm favourite. Duty manager Nishant’s friendliness and attention to detail was appreciated. Overall this is an excellent team. Thank you for a super three days, until next time. Thank you!

This is a beautiful hotel situated near the Mall Road in Shimla. The view across the valley to the Himalayas was stunning from our room.|The room was large and very comfortable.|Plenty of towels and toiletries in the bathroom with a lovely shower above the bath. |Tea and instant coffee in the room also.|What helps to make this hotel are the amazing staff. Not only are they extremely professional they are fun and happy too. |( unlike at Claridges in Delhi!) |The lounge perhaps lacks much ambience because it is so big and felt chilly when we were there but is a beautiful part of the hotel.|We were here for New Year and the gala dinner was a work of art. Congratulations to the hard working chefs who provided so much beautiful food. Dinner on our second night also exceeded expectations and the mutton curry and chicken biryani were very authentic.|Breakfast had plenty of choice and also hot cooked food to order.|The swimming pool and jacuzzi were lovely especially when we had it all to our self. |The only other negative which is a very personal thought is that guests should not be allowed at breakfast in pyjamas. It’s a 4/5 star hotel and dress codes should be respected not abused! |Thankyou again for making new year so enjoyable.

Great place. Perfect location, it's a nice walk to city center. Rooms are beautiful and confortable. The hotel is very well maintained for a heritage property. Pool area is very pleasant. Breakfast is good (only the toested bread is very cheap quality). We had very nice dinner with local specialities. I recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 3 night stay as part of the Great Railway Journeys at Oberoi Cecil. Cannot fault it for location, food, ambience and service. We very much enjoyed our evenings after dinner at the bar learning about the history and culture of Shimla and India with Deepanshu and Sylvester who were very knowledgeable and attentive. We enjoyed days along the Mall, exploring Shimla and a must do excursion to Lord Kitchener”s residence “Wildflower Hall” and Fagu and Kufri, a great viewpoint for the Himalayas. She welcomed us so warmly and went above and beyond to make our hotel experience truly wonderful. We are really grateful for her kindness and support.

An absolutely beautiful hotel! The rooms, staff amd food are all 5 star! I would particularly like to mention Koushik, who waited at our table. He is am absolutely outstanding young man. Perfect manners and so polite and friendly. He could not do enough to be of service. The hotel management should be very proud to have him on their team.

We visited to celebrate my daughters’ birthdays, and the team ensured it was a truly memorable experience—one that my children couldn’t have asked for more.||The hotel thoughtfully reached out to me in advance to understand our travel plans and the celebratory occasion, allowing them to make arrangements well ahead of our arrival. This proactive approach set the tone for the exceptional hospitality that followed. The service throughout our stay was impeccable—warm, attentive, and genuinely heartfelt.||The heritage property has been beautifully preserved, maintaining its old-world charm while being in immaculate condition. The rooms are spacious, elegant, and extremely comfortable. The food deserves special mention—exceptional in both quality and taste.||Every staff member greets you with a smile, making you feel truly welcome. A special mention to Tanushree from the dining staff for her warmth, politeness, and prompt service. I would also like to thank Chef Raj Kumar Bhatia, who took the time to personally greet us, ensured our dietary preferences for non-spicy food were well taken care of, and went above and beyond by presenting us with beautiful sketches of Shimla. These sketches will forever adorn the walls of my new under-construction office and remain a cherished memory of our stay.||Although this was my first visit, I am certain it won’t be my last. I look forward to returning many more times in the future.

Great view from valley view room, Beautiful hotel, Breakfast staff is very good even though first day our order was bit late but thats not a big issue. Loved the taste. Do not miss the spa session which they offer. Its incredibly good. This was our 2nd stay here & plan to keep coming back. We were lucky enough to enjoy the Snow fall as well.
