The Oitavos

"Built behind the sand dunes that separate a beautiful park from the Atlantic Ocean, the 142-room Oitavos looks set to reboot the Lisboan Riviera. You’ll need to be a fan of contemporary design to be happy in this trident-shaped building a quarter mile inland, as its plate-glass walls are more Bauhaus than cozy. Still, the rooms are spacious and light, with sky-blue vinyl floors, white walls, and large balconies offering sea or golf course views. A wall-hung television faces a plump stone-gray canvas sofa in the standard double, and a perky modern oil painting and a navy-blue cotton throw on the large bed give the room some personality. A long white laminate desk separates the bedroom from the bathroom, where you’ll find a blocky sky-blue tub and a stall shower. Surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, The Oitavos also has an outdoor saltwater pool in season."

My recent business trip to The Oitavos Hotel in Cascais was incredibly impressive, and it immediately struck me as a fantastic option for a family holiday too!|The rooms are simply huge, offering ample space and comfort. The golf course is truly exceptional, boasting stunning views that make every round a pleasure. And the food? Absolutely loved it – a definite highlight of my stay.|The hotel blends modern design with its natural surroundings beautifully. While I was there for work, the spacious accommodations and the array of amenities (including the golf and great dining) clearly signal its potential for an amazing family getaway.|Overall, The Oitavos offers a high-quality experience with its beautiful setting, top-tier golf, and delicious food. Highly recommend!

Very Good hotel. I was here for a Technology conference in Q4 2024. Food arrangements were very good. The rooms were very big. The Japanese style toilets was amazing. Small issue was around the quality of beds. Apart from all it was a very good stay of 3 days. Will plan to go there again with family.

Very spacious room but a bit cold in November. The bed is very comfortable and big. The design of the room is however not very good. There is no door between the bedroom and the bathroom/ toilet so it will be really awkward for friends or teenager siblings staying in the same room. The breakfast was really great. Many choices, especially the fruit bar was super nice. A lot of staff running around taking away your dish too soon.😆

I had an incredible experience staying at the Oitavos hotel! It was my first visit, and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The breakfast was outstanding, with a fantastic variety of high-quality options. The pool was lovely, and the spa facilities were exceptional, featuring a beautiful sauna where you could watch the sunset in the evenings. The gym was also well-equipped for a hotel gym. However, the standout aspect of my stay was definitely the staff. Ricardo and Luis took care of us on several evenings and ensured our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. They truly are a credit to the hotel and the main reason I’m giving this place a well-deserved 5-star rating!

Lovely location just outside of Cascais! We went here for our honeymoon and it was lovely. I suggest getting a room where you can watch the sunrise, it’s so peaceful. Very clean rooms and outside. Pool was very nice and relaxing. Best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had!!

I recently stayed at this hotel and was extremely dissatisfied with our experience. It's hard to believe that this place is rated 5-stars given the significant lack of professionalism and organization. 1. Heating Problem in Our Room On our first night, we felt cold but thought it might just be the change in climate. However, the real issue became evident when we returned from an event on the second day to find our room freezing, with the temperature only at 19°C despite setting the thermostat. After waiting over two hours with no resolution after reporting the problem to reception, we were told the staff member who could help had an emergency. Not only was this shocking, but it was also unacceptable that we weren’t informed about the delay or given the option to move rooms in a timely manner. Finally, the heating was fixed on our third day, which is simply not acceptable. 2. Confusion with Airport Transfer We arranged for an early airport transfer through reception, and while the taxi arrived on time, the ordeal that followed was ridiculous. Upon arriving at the airport, the driver claimed the hotel would cover the fare. I received a message hours later insisting I needed to pay 70 euros because of a misunderstanding. This is absurd! I had not ordered the taxi and shouldn’t be held responsible for the driver’s assumptions. I even requested proof of the fare, yet the staff demanded payment before I could see a receipt. Although I eventually paid just to settle the matter, this entire situation was handled poorly and should never have happened. Overall, I expected far more from a hotel of this caliber. I hope they take steps to improve their service and accountability in the future. My advice? Look elsewhere for your stay.

Pros: - Massive rooms - Nice front desk and breakfast staff Cons: - This is the kind of hotel that looks great in photos but when you get there you notice that it looks like it hasn't been maintained in a decade. Peeling paint, everything rusting and dirty, stains all over, etc. It feels like a convention center, and has as many rules (not allowed to bring anything from breakfast to the room, not allowed to bring outside food in, etc). - At breakfast, there's about 200 other guests. It's really like being at a conference center, with massive groups. - The gym is a decent size but nobody maintained it and all the towels were dirty (despite asking twice for fresh ones). The spa was also very dirty looking. - Room was not very clean. We had to do our own cleaning to not feel gross. - The main issue we had though was that we could hear every step when the people above walked, waking us up. The top floor, however, has the loud noise of all the air conditioners....

Catfished by a hotel! Do not be fooled by the website photos; this spa is far from the five-star experience you would expect. Picture a 90s leisure centre, complete with hair and crisp remnants crushed into the tiles. The indoor "sea water" pool is nothing more than chlorinated water, and the steam room reeks like a men’s locker room after a rugby match. A closer inspection revealed a distressing amount of scum and black mould, and we opted against entering the sauna after noticing the black mould in the wood grain. This spa is in need of a serious deep clean and equipment upgrade. We left within the hour, feeling deeply disappointed and far from relaxed. You go to a spa to come out feeling healthy, not diseased! I am never one to leave a bad review, but where health is concerned I think it's important to say something. It's a huge hotel, so I wonder if they're understaffed, but this establishment fails to meet even basic standards of cleanliness and comfort.

Yelp
Beautiful and modern European hotel sitting upon sand dunes, surrounded by a world famous golf course. Lovely views from every room in the hotel and warm and relaxing ambiance. Exceptional service. Large rooms with lots of amenities. Can't get any better than that! Kind of 'W' like. Fab restaurants and food. Better golf rates for hotel guests than going directly to the pro shop.

Yelp
A really great hotel. We would probably have enjoyed it even more if we were proper golf players but even as non golf playing holiday makers this is a great location to see Cascais. We were upgraded to a suite, which mean we had our bedroom with basically a separate living room with a sofa, and massive TVs in both the bedroom and living room. We had a massive bathroom with walk in shower and an enormous balcony. We had dinner in the restaurant one night and the service and food were very good. The service generally was excellent, the hotel sorted us out with free bikes to ride down into Cascais and sorted us out with golf clubs and golf balls to go and make fools of ourselves on the driving range. I'd love to come back here
