We visited recently and had a mixed experience. William was incredibly knowledgeable about the coffee and cakes perhaps a bit too enthusiastic at times but there’s no doubt he’s excellent at what he does. It can get a little awkward when there’s a queue, though, as the detailed descriptions slow things down. The coffee was just okay I’ve definitely had better from some of the more well-known chains. As for the desserts, the lemon cake was a generous portion, but the strong coconut flavour might not be for everyone. The fudge was tasty but felt a bit small for the price. It’s nice that they offer wine, though it’s definitely on the more expensive side. Overall, we paid €26 for two coffees and two desserts, which felt a bit steep for what we got. A lovely spot in many ways, but the pricing and some of the flavours didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The pretentious vibe is definitely at a 100….. Would I return, unfortunately not.

Went there on a Saturday morning. It was pretty quite and a sunny morning. They have a variety of coffee beans imported form all around the world so it's great for all the coffee lovers out there. The view from the cafe is beautiful. Its perfect if you want to enjoy a cup of coffee with a nice way. We ordered a hot chocolate too. It was very creamy and chocolately. This is my next best hot chocolate after butlers. Will definitely recommend.

My partner I visited a couple of weeks ago and we are so glad we did. The staff are amazing and really take their time to show you all the different varieties along with taste and smell. The coffee was delicious and the milk was steamed to perfection I cannot count how many times I received a coffee only to have the milk piping hot.. This certainly was not the case here. The coffee was smooth literally liquid gold and came with a little card of tasting notes . There is lots of options on a sliding scale some may call it expensive? but not a lot of businesses roast in house and source their beans ethically either so Kudos to Old Barracks. The sweet treats were delicious. Overall a wonderful chilled space to chat and have a coffee. If you are planning to visit note it is child free. We will be back.

It was our first time visiting. Elizabeth was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the coffee experience. We were very interested to see what all the fuss was about and my partner and I were not disappointed - we tried a few varieties. The coffee was excellent and we bought some goodies to go. So lovely to have a calm and mature space. Will definitely visit again.

Wonderful experience with the girlfriend here today. Coffee was Wonderful, girlfriend had the hot coco and loved it too, we both had the banana bread which we both loved. Servers were really friendly and even gave some recommendations for home coffee making equipment. I can appreciate some of the negative views of parents over their no child policy but it's really nice to an adult only space that isn't a pub in this country for once. Will definitely visit again when in this neck of the woods.

The level of pretentiousness at this café—paired with the owner's oddly entertaining, passive-aggressive responses to every negative review here on Google truly is something to behold. It’s almost performance art at this point. Here’s what actually happened in my case in 2022, like others, we recently moved to the area and had a run-in over our newborn. The “no kids” signage was barely noticeable, and the way staff chose to enforce the policy was impressively cold and condescending. Now, to be clear—we fully respect that you can run your business however you like. No kids allowed? Fine. But maybe invest in a sign larger than a postage stamp. You could even add "As Seen on TV!" for flair. The real issue wasn’t the rule itself, but the unnecessary public embarrassment. A little kindness goes a long way. And just as a thought—if you truly believe your coffee is as good as your reviews suggest, why not set up a takeaway window? That way, all the fellow “unwelcome parents” could still enjoy a cup without disrupting the minimalist peace inside. Win-win Updated : Also with regard this policy I ask in a real world setting and for future customers, (your establishment has become a real hot topic) 1.What is your policy on Adults with Special Needs or serve Autism ??? I sincerely hope that they are treated with dignity and respect as someone who knows Adults that have both I would not feel comfortable bringing them to an establishment like this, I would like your take on this as it has bothered me since my original post

We came all the way from Croom to try this coffee shop as it has a good review from someone known to us. Right as we stepped in the door, staff said they have this so called "no child policy". We told them we can stay outside but was still turned down. Very disappointing.
