We visited recently and had a mixed experience. William was incredibly knowledgeable about the coffee and cakes perhaps a bit too enthusiastic at times but there’s no doubt he’s excellent at what he does. It can get a little awkward when there’s a queue, though, as the detailed descriptions slow things down. The coffee was just okay I’ve definitely had better from some of the more well-known chains. As for the desserts, the lemon cake was a generous portion, but the strong coconut flavour might not be for everyone. The fudge was tasty but felt a bit small for the price. It’s nice that they offer wine, though it’s definitely on the more expensive side. Overall, we paid €26 for two coffees and two desserts, which felt a bit steep for what we got. A lovely spot in many ways, but the pricing and some of the flavours didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The pretentious vibe is definitely at a 100….. Would I return, unfortunately not.

Went there on a Saturday morning. It was pretty quite and a sunny morning. They have a variety of coffee beans imported form all around the world so it's great for all the coffee lovers out there. The view from the cafe is beautiful. Its perfect if you want to enjoy a cup of coffee with a nice way. We ordered a hot chocolate too. It was very creamy and chocolately. This is my next best hot chocolate after butlers. Will definitely recommend.

Heard great things about the old barracks, having worked in the coffee and hospitality industry for 20+ years I was super excited to visit…how disappointing it was! I saw past the obnoxious and cold welcome - thinking the coffee and pastry would be delicious…it was not. The coffee was average at best and the cakes ice cold and stale out of the fridge. They have an adults only policy, which is fine but let your customers know that in a polite way…they made us feel awful for being in there with our newborn (fast asleep in his carrier) and made our coffees in take away cups, we weren’t even welcome in their gardens so had our overpriced and average coffee in the car. Ridiculous.

My partner I visited a couple of weeks ago and we are so glad we did. The staff are amazing and really take their time to show you all the different varieties along with taste and smell. The coffee was delicious and the milk was steamed to perfection I cannot count how many times I received a coffee only to have the milk piping hot.. This certainly was not the case here. The coffee was smooth literally liquid gold and came with a little card of tasting notes . There is lots of options on a sliding scale some may call it expensive? but not a lot of businesses roast in house and source their beans ethically either so Kudos to Old Barracks. The sweet treats were delicious. Overall a wonderful chilled space to chat and have a coffee. If you are planning to visit note it is child free. We will be back.

It was our first time visiting. Elizabeth was friendly, knowledgeable and extremely passionate about the coffee experience. We were very interested to see what all the fuss was about and my partner and I were not disappointed - we tried a few varieties. The coffee was excellent and we bought some goodies to go. So lovely to have a calm and mature space. Will definitely visit again.

Another expensive cup of coffee. Nothing wrong with the coffee. The service is excellent. Making a cup of coffee to this level is not cheap. A nice chair to sit in and a beautiful view. Just know going in that it will cost! I had the carrot cake that was meh...might have been better earlier in the day?

After unwittingly bringing a sub-adult human into this VIP establishment, I quickly realized my mistake - What was I thinking bringing a youngster into a place that exclusively deals with adult themed services such as black coffee. I was informed they were happy to take my money, but under no circumstances were we welcome to stay and freak out their other more responsible clientele by consuming their stimulants onsite. I came to my senses, thanked them for their discrimination, and took my freak show elsewhere.
