Google
Wonderful experience. I rarely leave reviews as I work in hospitality management and tend to be overly picky, however this so lovely I felt like I had to! The staff were welcoming. The food was outstanding. The oysters were some of the best I’ve ever had, I could probably have had about 20! Normally I would not have ordered a chicken dish but oh my gosh it was delicious. You can tell the chefs really care about their cooking and put love and thought into all their dishes. The wine menu was also a really welcome change from the boring standard restaurant choices. This shows the whole operation was carefully thought out. When the bill came I was surprised by the amazing value for money! We will definitely be back time and time again!

We visited for a Sunday roast after a morning up in the mountains and we were not disappointed. Friendly staff, prompt service, delicious food and good portion sizes. We both had the soup followed by roast pork with all the trimmings and we felt these were good value. Would definitely recommend.

Google
Amazing atmosphere and staff, food not as great though - quite limited choice on the menu. Spring roll was quite tasteless, main course - chicken was tasty but the chicken breast was Asda dry as a bone. Desert was amazing - poached pear and Ice cream. If I went back I'd have a different starter then a pudding.

Stopped off for a quick lunch on our way past and it did not disappoint! Really chilled atmosphere/vibe , some cool decor , friendly service from Teigan and Bev, the burgers were really good but the roulade dessert was absolutely amazing. So tasty! Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Initially we tried our luck as walk ins but they were fully booked, so I booked a table for the following evening and had quite high expectations seeing as they were so busy and the reviews were amazing. We were booked in for the Sunday evening, and the service was excellent, but the food didn’t quite do it for me. I had the jerk roasted pumpkin and tofu dish, but it wasn’t the explosion of flavour I was hoping for. Instead it was disappointingly bland, and the tofu was far too dry, making it quite difficult to chew and digest. However, my son did enjoy his cod dish - so at least one of us was happy! The Old Bridge Inn is a beautiful pub, service is great, but I think it’s fair to say the food is pretty much hit and miss depending on what you order. Vegetarians/vegans often get overlooked in terms of choice and flavour, so when I saw the menu I was really excited, but unfortunately they failed to deliver. I personally wouldn’t eat here again, but my son was happy with his choice.

Good lunch, but I can tell there's a chef in there that really likes his or her desserts. Lots of attention into the plating and the portion sizes just about match the main course size :-). Recommend the white chocolate blondie. Service is ok but nothing outstanding. Loosen up, guys. We're just hungry people ;-).

Google
It was okay! I feel like I expected more from this place. The food was just okay, service was hard. We walked in and were ignored for a bit before a guy behind the bar was super kind and offered to serve us. We were there for quite a long time just for lunch, I was hoping to be in and out much quicker than that

Google
The Old Bridge Inn is everything a pub should be—warm, lively, and incredibly welcoming. Even though it was busy, the staff went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. They gave us excellent recommendations for both beer and food, which we really appreciated. We ordered a burger and a shepherd’s pie, and both were surprisingly good. You might think a burger is just a burger, but not at The Old Bridge Inn—this one exceeded all expectations. If you’re anywhere near Aviemore and looking for a great place to eat, this is the spot. Just make sure to book ahead! Highly recommended.

Yelp
Pleasant environment. Would love to come back for a show or a folk session. Our favorite of the meals we ordered was the charcuterie. Definitely a must order. The burger was also very good with a thick patty. The black pepper tofu dish had good flavor but the tofu did not and was dry. The falafel wrap had something in it that was sweet, which was not what we were looking for. The service was good.

Yelp
05/31/2024 Friday 7:30pm. Made reservations per our guide since it is a small town. We were greeted promptly and seated near the window. There are many areas to sit. It was a bit cold and drizzly so we were glad to be inside. It is cozy. The menu consists of about 10 dishes I would say. Ordered the 8oz. steak with garlic butter, with mushroom/tomato and chips as sides. Also ordered green beans. Also added on Cullen skink. Kids had gnocchi. Being a thin steak the cook ranged from medium well to medium rare in parts. Not like steak back in the states. I would say beef flavor came through but not enough seasoning. The vegetables and chips were very good. The Cullen skink was more stewy than soupy also it was locally made, this recipe had dill pickle bits in it. I thought it was good. I love how they love bread and butter in this country. The gnocchi was okay. Again just different from rye U.S. Service friendly and welcoming.

Yelp
Enjoyed pizza and drinks by the river, then later went inside. Had such a great time we visited two times during our four night stay in the area during the summer. Thank you from Los Angeles!

Yelp
We were turned away, because we did not have a reservation. They recommended that we go elsewhere. Apparently, they do not offer food service without a reservation.

Yelp
The location of this spot is great and it was quite busy on a sunny day! We had a reservation for later that evening and we appreciated them accommodating us to eat earlier. I had the vegan burger which was pretty good, I just didn't realize it would be fried. My partner had the witch sole which he really enjoyed. After a long hike that day, I really wanted a margarita with dinner but it wasn't the best choice. Small glass, not much tequila and a hefty price tag. But overall, it was a good dining experience.

Yelp
My American family of Scottish descent spent a week in Aviemore in July 2014. The Old Bridge Inn was a delight - regarded by everyone in the family as the best pub we found during our two and a half week adventure through Scotland and northern England. Charming decorations and great patrons, a fine selection of real ales from the local Cairngorm Brewery, several other draught beers, a wide selection of bottled beer from Scotland and beyond (or, as they called it, Bottled Foreign Muck), and a fascinating selection of perhaps 100 single malt whiskys from what seemed like every distillery in Scotland. I made it a point to try a new whisky (or three, or five) on each visit to this quaint old pub on the banks of the river Spey, and the folks behind the bar were very helpful and knowledgeable when I asked for advice, offering me a sniff of the bottle to see if the aroma appealed to me, offering suggestions, and being exceptionally cordial the entire time. During our three visits, we met lively and informative customers, listened to some great music piped in, petted a great big shaggy dog who seemed quite at home in the place, and were exceptionally pleased to have found the Old Bridge Inn. Should the winds ever blow me to Aviemore again, this will be on my list of places to return to for a wee dram, a pint and some merriment.

Yelp
Dinner here was the perfect way to end a day of rainy exploring in the Cairngorms. The sun came out and we arrived at The Old Bridge Inn to discover it was Midsummer and they were celebrating. The riverside was lined with hammocks, hog roast and the most gigantic bonfire I have ever seen! The staff here were lovely and the restaurant looked beautiful- candlelit with twinkly fairy light on the ceiling. The food did not disappoint, just take a look at the pictures!! To start we shared the twice cooked lamb flank, and it was SO delicious. The meat was beautifully soft and melt in the mouth. For mains I had hake with mussels and it was to die for, the boy went for duck which came with pistachios and cherries and he claimed it was the best thing he had eaten in a long time! For dessert he had a hot chocolate cake with peanut butter brittle and blood orange sorbet. My dessert was even more delicious I think- creme brulee with churros and mandarin sorbet, mmmm! Would thoroughly recommend a visit here when visiting this beautiful part of Scotland.

Yelp
Today was my 2nd trip to The Old Bridge Inn. Last time was for a friend's Hen Doo... we dined in the restaurant and enjoyed the banter in the bar afterwards. Today we had lunch in the bar. I had the harissa spiced chicken & creme fraiche wrap which I really enjoyed but it would have benefited from a side of fries/wedges to satisfy a hungry walker! For dessert I had Crema Catalana with raspberry ice cream on the side... this was really delicious and the caramel topping on the Crema Catalana was perfectly crunchy! The Old Bridge Inn is a lovely cosy traditional pub which was pram friendly at lunch today. The food was good, the fire was warming... my kind of pub. At weekends and evenings it is more lively with live music and great banter. Worth a visit if you are in the area!

Yelp
We had a lovely time here...nice atmosphere and friendly stuff. Had the special Christmas dinner.

Yelp
Aviemore is definitely a tiny little village but if you ever visit, be sure to grab one of your meals, or several drinks at the Old Bridge Inn. It's a bit hard to find at the entrance of the village from the south roundaboud, make it right into a little passage going down under the railway tracks. On your right stand the place. It was recommended to us by the salesperson at Mountain Warehouse (a kiwi lost in Scotland for years now and loving it) and we had no trouble finding it with his directions. As you get there, you'll notice a little patio on the outside, with leather sofas, chairs and a piano...super cute first impression. Obviously quite deserted expect for the odd smoker on these cold winter months, but must be fab in the summer! Inside, grab a seat at the bar and let yourself guided by the large selection of whiskies and other winter warmers. We had several local whiskies (one of which, the Glenfarclas, is one of the only few still owned by a Scottish family!) Their mulled cider was also a real treat. Now you're going to think I'm an alcoholic but hey, this was Saturday night :) We then had dinner and I must say it was much tastier than anything I would have expected from a little Inn in the middle of the Cairngorms. I went for the aubergine gratin and my friend had the pork belly. Both were absolutely delicious! Topped up by a glass of wine and a very nice sticky toffee pudding, of course. When in Aviemore, make sure you stop by!

Yelp
Found this on Yelp while traveling between Balletar and Inverness. No reservations at 7p meant an hour wait at the bar, but it was so worth it! Great atmosphere and super great staff! Highly recommend you make the trip here!

Yelp
I half expected to see Graham and Amanda from "The Holiday" huddled in a cozy corner booth at this charming Scottish establishment situated on the banks of the Spey. Yes, I am aware that they are fictional characters and that the movie took place in England, but you get the picture. With its candlelit tables (not in a fancy, white linen tablecloth kind of way), antler mounts, roaring fire, and extensive selection of malt whiskies, The Old Bridge Inn offered exactly the right atmosphere to kick off our group's three week stay in the Scottish Highlands. The old whisky bottles dripping with candle wax on each table and the live folk music created a truly authentic Scottish vibe. We were greeted by a friendly, young server who was more than able to keep up with the demands, humor, and quirkiness (I say that in the most loving way possible) of our ten person American group. We arrived right before the dinner hour started, and enjoyed a round of drinks before receiving a freshly printed copy of the menu (adjusted daily). While the rest of the group sampled the cask ales and premium lagers, I decided to give the hard cider a try. After receiving a warning from the waitress to order only one if I wanted to remember the night, I couldn't resist. Not to worry--I didn't exceed the suggested limit. There wasn't a single person in our group of ten that was not raving about the food by the end of the meal. We learned from our server that most of the dishes are locally sourced--Alvie brown trout and black-faced lamb with sides of garlic "roasties" were among the favorites. It was no surprise to find out that the meals had been prepared by a chef with quite an impressive culinary background. I would be remiss not to mention the dessert and, of course, the post-dessert "wee dram" of scotch. The poached rhubarb crema Catlana is a MUST try. Think crème brulee + rhubarb. Pure deliciousness. The tart flavor of the rhubarb paired with the creamy flavor of the custard, and the caramelized sugar layer on top made for an amazing combination of flavors and textures. Following our dessert, our table received a personal visit from the bartender, who offered his expertise on the wide assortment of scotch available for tasting. Once again, we were not disappointed. My only regret is that we didn't arrive earlier to enjoy a beer in the Speyside beer garden!

Yelp
I'm kicking myself for not coming here earlier as the amount of times I've passed here is immense. Service was really good -quick, prompt and courteous but food was astounding. I had pork belly which was really tender and oh so morish! Pudding was devine - heaven in a syllabub. This HAS to be at the TOP of your list to eat if you are in Aviemore.

Yelp
This was the best pub we found along the entire Speyside Way! If only we had discovered it earlier! Then again, had we started here (instead of ending up here), we just might not have left. The bar had a fun atmosphere, a great beer selection (including a number of excellent Scottish beers in bottles and many on tap or in casks), a good whiskey selection, good music, and a helpful and fun staff. The Bunkhouse next door is connected in some way, and seems to be a great place to stay to start a hike northward.

Richard G.

Yelp
Had high hopes. Ordered the halibut which is a firm, flaky fish. The one I ordered had the consistency of mashed potatoes. Sent it back which I haven't done in fifteen years. The bass was better but not impressed.

Yelp
All our food was really good and very fresh , we sat at the bar to eat which had a nice atmosphere there...

Yelp
We were a family of four, ordered all 4 dinner options and shared. This place was recommended to us and It is AWESOME. Great beer, nice location, kind and helpful staff, and they have a nice disability accessible bathroom. I'll visit again!

Yelp
A very fine inn/pub on the banks of the Spey right between the Rothiemurchus Estate and the Aviemore town centre. We loved the real ales and selection of special edition whiskys. To wit, the bartender offered a dram of a hard-to-find Dalwhinnie bottle. The soundtrack was excellent as well. I'd love to go back and sample the food and live music in the evenings.

Yelp
Obnoxious and dishonest staff turns families with children away for no reason. Disgusting.

Qype User (.

Yelp
Been to this place a few times over the years when in Aviemore. Its gone upmarket a bit since my last visit. The food itself was really delicious, a lovely menu of locally sourced ingredients, beautifully cooked. Our last visit was a bit rushed as we were on our way home, and I have had to take a mark off for the speed of service. There seemed to be plenty of people around but food was coming out fo the kitchen far too slowly. We ordered a coffee and an ice cream together. i got my coffee, finished it, paid the bill and then the ice cream arrived! Maybe Ok in the evening if you're not in a rush, though. Can't fault anything else.

Nelly B.

Yelp
The only reason to visit Aviemore, a quite faceless tourist trap, is the food in The Old Bridge Inn. Marvelous, whether Starter, Main Course or Desert. Don't miss it but reserve a table. It is mostly quite full.

Yelp
Best meal I had in Scotland. Good bar, too.
