The Old Court Hotel

We had the most wonderful experience here! The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious and the puddings were equally fantastic. A real treat. The service was exceptional; everyone was so friendly and welcoming. We visited as a young family of four with our 8-month-old puppy and they couldn’t have been more accommodating. A special mention to Kate L, our waitress, who was brilliant. She was so knowledgeable about the area, fantastic with our children and puppy and made the whole experience even better. We’ll definitely be returning. Highly recommend!

Staying at the Rapids Cottage, called in for a drink on our way home, it’s a beautiful hotel and the staff really lovely. We booked for Sunday lunch, we were NOT disappointed, food amazing, staff very friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend a visit and the hotel is totally dog friendly

We only had a meal here as a group of eight. We'd booked and pre ordered, everyone enjoyed what they had. The food was piping hot and scrumptious and the portion size of the pud was epic! It is also super close to the camp site. It is a very old place with loads of different rooms and lovely outside space too. Definitely worth a visit.

Strongly recommended. We held our 50th Wedding Anniversary, for 95 friends and families, at the Old Court Hotel last weekend. The owner, Victoria, could not have been more helpful & was intimately involved in the planning. We booked every room in the hotel for two nights and held a drinks reception & a formal lunch, followed by a disco in evening (Resident Disc Jockey Wayne Morgan was exceptional). Our guests were made to feel really welcome, the rooms were clean and comfortable, the food excellent & the rates and charges very reasonable. Most importantly, the service was outstanding - Victoria manages to recruit and retain a top quality team, who were cheerful and could not do enough for us.

Stayed for one night at short notice due to issues with our holiday rental house. Luckily they had a king size room (four poster) available for my husband and me, and a twin for our children. Rooms were spacious and clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful, particular shout out to Cathy who was very helpful and attentive, both on reception when we arrived and later when waiting on us in the restaurant. The hotel is full of character, given its age, including plenty of creaky floorboards etc but we really liked it. Our room was above the bar so was initially noisy but it was quiet by 10.30 so not a problem. Dinner was very nice, with lots of choices to suit everyone. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, as well as simple choices for a fussy teenager and more flavourful ones for the more adventurous among us. Breakfast was a little underwhelming (son unimpressed by his scrambled eggs in particular) but fine. Gardens are huge and pretty and the location generally is very scenic. Would happily go back.

Booked 2 nights in one of the family rooms which are separate from the hotel only 50 yards away. Very clean and comfortable with basic amenities. Had dinner one night which was reasonably priced but perhaps the food could be tweaked for better flavour and someone ensure the veg is served hot. Breakfast was lovely, everything very tasty and if you like kippers I thought they were awesome. The staff were all happy, smiley, accommodating and attentive when needed. We all enjoyed our stay here and would be happy to return.

This was our 9th stay in this hotel can't say any other than Fabulous. Everything was first class From the start of our 4 day stay to the end. The staff were very helpful and polite. The food very good. Once again full marks to every one for making it a great holiday. Already booked for next year. .

Great hotel for room and food for a stop on the Welsh border. The staff were attentive and friendly. The room was compact as advertised but was good value for the cost and had all would need for a lovely stay. Some noise from the pipes /kitchen downstairs and the main road but still had a good nights sleep and enjoyable stay!

Great food every time, whatever the time of day. The Old Court is a worthy eatery and nearly always busy. Lots if room to find a quiet spot to savour it fully. Arrive hungry to enjoy the full experience.

Only vegetarian main was a mushroom ravioli type thing in a tomato based sauce. It was not good. The flavors didn't go together at all. I regret being nice and paying for it rather than sending it back. Tho no one asked how we liked our mains either. If it had been good, it still would have been over priced. Had a cheese starter than tasted decent but not worth £15. I booked after looking at what's listed as the menu on the site not realizing that was only for residents. Non-residents get a different, less appealing and over priced menu that's called the Tudor dining room menu. That would have been nice of them to mention when I asked if they were open to non-residents. Shame because looking at their menu, their are some dishes that looked appetizing.

wonderful place to eat cosy and warm summer very cool hide away always busy but they look after you as if you were the only customer
