Visited for Sunday lunch on 23/11/2025.
Booked the table for 12:00 and turned up around 15 minutes early thinking we’d be able to settle in for a drink before ordering food, but found the pub doesn’t actually open until 12:00. Which is fine, it just means we’ll be more prepared next time.
Car park at that time was empty so no issues with parking.
Doors opened and we were greeted by the landlady/owner who was very welcoming and lovely. The pub itself is reasonably small but that added to its charm. We were seated right in front of the bar which initially worried us as we thought we’d be hemmed in when people arrived and ordered drinks, but it turned out to be fine.
Some people arrived without a booking and unfortunately were unable to eat as they were fully booked so booking ahead is essential/advisable.
We ordered a pint of Butty Bach and a coke. One of us had lamb and the other had beef.
We’re used to quick turnaround, we like to get in early, eat, and be out before places get packed.
But for this experience, we endured the 45 minute wait for the food to arrive and thankfully it was worth the wait.
The meat, potatoes and Yorkshire pudding arrived plated, and the vegetables were served in a separate dish along with a healthy serving of gravy in a jug.
The food was delicious. Really tasty and perfectly cooked.
By the time we’d eaten the place was full and no sooner had we left our table to pay at the bar, another couple jumped in and sat down before anyone else could have it.
I’m not surprised, with food that good it’s no wonder they’re busy.
Overall, a lovely experience, we were getting a bit apprehensive with such a long wait for the food to arrive but it was certainly worth it.
Would definitely recommend.
Total bill for 2 pints plus a coke, and 2 roast dinners, just under £52. Not bad at all.
