I cannot recommend this place highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we were blown away with not only the surroundings but the fantastic hospitality. The local area is breathtakingly beautiful and we arrived, despite it being late at night with the warmest of welcomes from our host Robb the manager and Head Chef. Our room was spacious, comfortable and very clean and offered stunning views of the local area. The food was on another level and as well as a fantastic selection of traditional dishes, there are also numerous offerings of seafood caught locally. The meals over our 4 day stay were fantastic and Robb was the most attentive host, leaving the kitchen every meal and interacting with all guests. Debbie was a friendly face and provided excellent waiting on service too. The bar also offers an extensive selection of whisk(e)ys and Robb was on hand to offer excellent advice on the many choices. All in all, an excellent stay and a place I would highly recommended to anyone.

This review is only for the restaurant as we did not stay at the rooms. The restaurant was amazing. Practically all the food was home made. And really, what can you say about scallops that come from the water across the road! Best scallops ever. Leave room for the cheesecake! And oh yes, the tablet at the end is such a nice touch, especially for a Canadian family who make their mums tablet every Christmas to remember her! Thanks again!

If like us you are completing the NC500, this is a restaurant not to miss. Excellent atmosphere and service. I had the venison pie and my wife had the monkfish curry. Throughout our Scottish trip, this meal stood out as being exceptional, the best we have had in Scotland. The home made sticky toffee pudding could win awards for it's lightness. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We went there for dinner in this historical place, the food was fantastic and decided to go for breakfast the next morning. More than that, the owner, a great chef, and our server are the nicest people we met on our trip. Beautiful view outside. I can't say about the rooms as we didn't sleep there. Highly recommend

We were just unexpected guests, attracted by an other Google Maps Review. Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked, but since we were reasonably hungry and rather early(18:00) the chef had a perfect idea: order immediately and you and I will have plenty of time for a decent dinner ... This worked out in the best possible way: we chose the day specials and a lovely Marlborough. In time all has been prepared like a Michelin star competitor. In short: MAKE A DETOUR FOR THIS EXTREMELY TASTEFUL, LOVELY, COOPERATIVE, WELL LOCATED, NICE PRICED, RESTAURANT !!! Next time we will be in Scotland, we most certainly be back, 😊😉🥰👌🥂

Over priced & uncomfortable we stayed separate rooms one night. When originally telephone enquiry it was quoted as £90.00 & £105.00 for two rooms. On arrival it was pay before seeing rooms & £150.00 each. The rooms are dated & beds uncomfortable with only one pillow per person. Shower was in room with sink & WC very compact. Warm water takes a few mins to come through & shower pressure is weak. We had travelled all day to reach the area &didn't have the luxury of going elsewhere as the location is remote. Heating was on initially but went off & didn't come on until morning making the stay cold as well as uncomfortable.||We booked for dinner which was good quality & reasonably priced. |I would not recommend anyone stay there as it was way overpriced & beds & furniture all dated, bed uncomfortable. ||The area is stunning but I would not revisit this establishment ever.

DON’T MISS THIS PLACE WHEN IN THE AREA! In Scotland for just under 30 days and my meal at The Old School was the best I had on the entire trip. Everyone at my table had the same experience. The chef was a real character and the service and atmosphere were outstanding.

Stayed at the Old School whilst hiking the Cape Wrath Trail and it was absolutely great. The staff, and the manager especially, made it exceptional; they are exceedingly friendly and accommodating, The rooms themselves are well appointed and comfortable (our room shared a toilet and shower with another room), clean and well-kept. The restaurant is top-notch and on its own, makes any stay well worth it. A great place to stay and from which to explore this beautiful part of the world.
