Very busy place, best bet is to make a reservation way ahead of time, but this location is really cool because they have an actual trolley inside the restaurant

I love this place. Great pasta, love the red sauce but also mizithra cheese is a huge family favorite. Even better getting the managers favorite option so you can have both! ☺️ My favorite part is honestly the pesto ranch🙈 I eat every bite of my salad every try time. Other great things: sourdough bread/butter with your meal, scoop of ice cream at the end, and love the classic cool environment/decor. Always been great for date nights as well as large groups of family, even with lots of kids but we always called ahead or made a reservation!

Tha trolley to eat in was abig selling point for the 6 year old. So that is where we sat. Cheese garlic bread was good. Grand daughter had spaghetti and 2 meatballs, applesauce and an Oreo shake. I had the Chicken with militias cheese, capers and mostly butter sauce. My wife had the Meat lovers dish with an Italian orange cream soda. Not my favorite place to gobut the service was great.

Google
The food and drinks were phenomenal definitely a place for familia. The entire family enjoyed it. Server Tanner gave awesome professional service.

Google
Resist the urge when they invite you to enjoy the "Mizithra Cheese & Browned Butter" pasta. Confused as to why this is marketed to cheese lovers, and it really set me up for failure looking up the phrase "toothsome treat" before ordering. The table declined when asked if any boxes were needed. The cheese bread & signature ice cream were perfect. Drea was a fantastic server. Atmosphere is great.

Google
This is one of my favorite eateries. Most of the time, the staff are very cordial. Our last visit we sort of overwhelmed them with a party of 18. It is like a three course meal every time we go there. Even the Spamoni ice-cream is delicious.

Google
My wife and I heard about this restaurant and we decided to stop in for dinner. We enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service. We would recommend this place for a good meal.

Google
I'm the biggest fan. I have tried nearly every single entrée there. Any are good. However, pick the minestrone soup over the salad. It's great. Also, pick Spumoni, not vanilla.

We really enjoyed the atmosphere of the train station platform inside of the restaurant. The homemade pasta was just incredible. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My review of TOSF is a bit different than others that have been posted here. I will not be reviewing the food, we all can get the idea of what that is like by all of the other reviews. Some of us like it, and some of us don't. I wanted to take a moment to review TOSF staff. I believe that is another part of our dining experience that can make or break our meal. My wife and I watch people. It's what we do. We were greeted at the hostess station by 3 young kids, all very friendly and helpful. We were sat at our table and told our server would be with us shortly. We both watched the interactions of the staff and other patrons. We noticed all the employees seemed very genuine and happy. Our server came to our table and introduced himself "Jamon" What a pleasant person. Very helpful, very kind , made drink suggestion and willing to give us a moment to change our dinner order ( over and over ). Jamon checked on us frequently and made sure we had everything we needed. All with a smile and a tremendously positive attitude. He made you feel like he cared. We need more Jamon's in this world!!

Yelp
TOSF has been a favorite for fifty years! My friends and I came when we were teenagers to celebrate birthdays. We were there a few years ago and a few months ago for high school reunions. I took two young granddaughters and a teenaged friend there last week before going to a ballet downtown; they sat us in the trolley car and treated us like princesses. They have an area upstairs for large groups. Our server messed up our order three times (he should have written it down instead of "memorizing" it) and was slow, but we were there at a busy time and it was loud in the trolley car. Other servers were helpful. The manager stopped by to ask about our experience. Their menu is huge, and each meal comes with fresh hot bread/whipped butter, minestrone soup or garden salad, an entree, then ice cream (vanilla or spumone--pistachio/cherry/chocolate) for a great deal. I usually get spaghetti with browned butter, mizithra cheese, and sautéed mushrooms. Fettucine Alfredo is delicious too. Try it, you'll like it.

Yelp
Update: The manager called and issued a refund. So that helps... I ordered catering for a business meeting and it was almost an hour late. We are located only 10 minutes away. The meeting had to be reorganized and the executives were not happy. I called to tell the manager it was not ok that it was so late and he basically told me I shouldn't have picked the delivery time that I did. If you don't want to deliver at a certain time, why is it offered? Their poor planning is not my fault and yet I am the one who looked bad to the executives. The first girl I talked to was very nice, the manager was not. Since it was delivered so late, the food was cold.

Yelp
Everything about this place calls you back. The coolest atmosphere ever and satisfying food and drink. My go to is ALWAYS the Mizithra and Browned Butter spaghetti. I've lost track of how many times I've eaten here. Great prices too.

Yelp
The Old Spaghetti Factory is a classic! The ambiance is striking and maintains its classic look throughout the years. It is always clean and well kept. The food is always tasty. I usually get the Meat Lovers Treat, but I was recently introduced to the Alfredo sauce. The Alfredo sauce is absolutely delicious - far better than any Alfredo sauce I've ever had. This place is also home to my favorite ranch dressing ever! They have a pesto ranch that is unlike any place I've ever had. It goes perfectly with everything (even spaghetti--yes, I'm that weird)! The service is always fast and friendly, and I've never had an issue with them.

Yelp
The Rundown: Fantastic and unique atmosphere with a rather varied menu. The food itself is rather average. The Review: Visiting SLC this chain was one that caught our eye and gave it a go. It's located upstairs and the atmosphere was very impressive - deceptively large, multiple levels, and a train car inside! It's a popular restaurant so be prepared for a possible wait. The service was overall friendly and attentive helping keep things moving. The menu had a lot of options, almost all of which was (as expected) pasta! The background of the original owners demonstrates itself with some unique additions - including a Greek cheese I've never had before. I ordered the Garlic Mizithra. The serving side was certainly reasonable and flavor was fantastic - but the butter sauce was very light resulting in an overall dry experience. I would have preferred a bit more sauce to better balance. Family got different dishes but had similar experiences of not enough sauce. I can understand, it's a difficult balance. But it's something to note when ordering if you prefer sauce I recommend make a note of it so maybe you can get a bit more (or on side?). I appreciated the soup and dessert pairing (always go with Spumoni unless allergic) rounding everything out. Overall, it's a decent place to visit when searching for something filling and enjoyable. The pasta satisfies, the atmosphere is fantastic!

Yelp
Delicious food, great value, good service and a fun, nostalgic atmosphere make this place a home run. An under appreciated classic that we're going to lose if more people don't start supporting it.

Yelp
So much fun tonight at Spaghetti Factory!! Haven't been to this location in a while. Trolley Square has such fun nostalgia for me!! Delicious food and great service for our family of four! Only ended up getting pics of my food but we all enjoyed!! I got salad without croutons and gluten free mizithra cheese, husband got fettuccine Alfredo, daughter got regular mizithra cheese and son got the tortellinis. They all got spunoni ice cream and I got vanilla with a little caramel and chocolate sauce!! Yum!!
google avatar

Yelp
I really love the Old Spaghetti! The food is always good and plentiful (you get bread, soup or salad, an entree, and a scoop of ice cream for not that much money), and the old-style glam decor is fun. The server had last weekend seemed a little overwhelm and forgot a few things, but overall, a good experience.

Neal R.

Yelp
Love the OSF! Core memories here from childhood. The pasta is good, service is great. I would ask two things: first bring back the honey mustard salad dressing lost after covid. second: don't rush people just to turn a table. a bit of patience pays off in the experience of guests.

Yelp
Over all, the meal was pretty good. We went there for lunch so it was decent that there was a menu with a smaller sized serving. Not to knock the place, but as you move back into the restaurant it seems to get a bit dimmer. Could use some better lighting. Service was on the mark. The waitress was quick and there immediately. Granted we were there just as they opened, but we had to ask her to spread out our meal a bit. The way she acted like as soon as she put down the appetizer we had 10 minutes to get it down since that's when our lunches will come out. As far as the food goes, my spousal unit had no complaints about her pasta with meat sauce. I found the Pot Pourri a bit bothersome that it was plate of pasta with four sauces. As you sample one sauce it pulls the pasta away from the other sauce. But that's just me.

Yelp
Very busy place! The wait time was well explained and they were on the nose. The wait staff was friendly and responsive. Very eclectic surroundings, loved the headboard turned into booths The food was good, plentiful and reasonably priced. Give it a try

Yelp
My son is now a teenager and requested Spaghetti Factory for his birthday dinner. He loves their Spaghetti, apple sauce, bread and spumoni ice cream. It was his birthday so he also ordered the cotton candy drink from the bar. Our server, Benjamin, took really good care of us and made my son feel special.

Yelp
FAST review Came to Old Spaghetti Factory for a late lunch early dinner. This is the best time because it's not too busy. Food: We got a beer and a Bloody Orange Mule for drinks, Spinach Artichoke dip, Vesuvius Pasta and Chicken Marsala. Everything was great, large portions and we took some home. Don't forget the bread and spumoni ice cream. Atmosphere: The Trolley Spaghetti Factory is one of the best, because it is in an old train station. Typical look, not too noisy and we sat in the bar area where there were a couple of of TVs playing some sports. Service: Since we sat in the bar our server Maddy was amazing, she was waiting on several tables and making drinks for everyone. She checked on us a lot. Tip: you can't go wrong with Old Spaghetti Factory. The food and service is amazing.

Yelp
Consistantaly good, fresh bread, crisp salads, and I love the browned butter and mazitra cheese spaghetti. Service is always good, nice dining areas including the train car and unique headboards used for booths.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Yummy food! Good service. Friendly! Various food to offer! I will come back!

Gary O.

Yelp
I have been going to the old spaghetti factory since the late 70s. Since I left Seattle in the early 90s, I have visited them in different cities when I travel since there are none near me. One thing that has been remarkably consistent. Is that the various items on the menu have the same unique case whether you are in Honolulu or South Carolina. on this visit, the atmosphere was great and the servers attentive. It was a little annoying that they brought out our main entrée before we were halfway through our salads. Likewise, it was clear that the plate of spaghetti had been sitting a while before they added the sauce and brought it out. That impact of the taste. so I gave them a four knowing that a little guidance from the manager to the weight staff can easily correct this letdown in the service.
google avatar

Megan L.

Yelp
I love Spaghetti Factory! This location is really fun too. Every meal comes with either soup or salad. I'm more of a soup person so I always order their soup. Their soup is a minestrone soup and it's really good. Their salad is also really good if you'd prefer salad. They have a delicious creamy pesto dressing for the salad that is so good. For my entree, I always order the manger's favorite and with that you get to choose 2 different pasta sauces. I always get the clam sauce and the mizithra. They are both delicious and they go really good together. Every meal also comes with a scoop of spumoni ice cream. If you aren't from the area, I recommend giving this place a try.

Yelp
This was my 7th location visited amongst three states and easily the worst. It's difficult to find being in the second story of a partially enclosed outdoor mall. The logo is so small it's hard to find. The front desk asked us for our phone number and gave us a page thirty seconds later, which was quixotic. The service atrocious...very difficult to get drink refills and then we were given the check for another guests table. I couldn't wait to get the hell out of here and the portions weren't what I expected No pesto butter for the bread and no additional servings of bread, either. In short, there's a brewery across from here which appears to have food of some kind...I'd really wished I had gone there instead. OSF has always been overpriced for what it is and when you factor how difficult it is to find with the terrible food and service it's hard to justify.
google avatar

Mattie C.

Yelp
Such a classic SLC restaurant. The service was wonderful, and the food was delicious. I got the mushroom ravioli which I would highly recommend. As well as their fizz limeades, both the peach and blackberry were delicious and fun options as they are served in cute little crafts.

Jarom B.

Yelp
Price hikes are one thing. The last time I ate here, and I do mean last time, I got about a tablespoon of sauce on my noodles. Just pathetic and not edible. I can boil and eat plain spaghetti noodles at home.
google avatar

Yelp
We recently went in for lunch and got to sit in the trolley. Server informed us the menu is for lunch and dinner so we paid $17.99 for a potpourri and managers special. The mizthra cheese is delicious but can be overwhelming on its own but quite unique and the only reason that brings me here. My son loved his pasta with marinara sauce and meatball that was ok. No real seasoning. The pesto ranch is also another favorite but the seasonings were missing and it just tasted like white sauce. Not normal. It's really what makes the iceberg lettuce sing. Service was great but slow as she had too many tables. Just a heads up if you order doordash the prices are higher and portions are smaller so not worth it. Located 2nd floor of trolley square.
google avatar

Rachelle O.

Yelp
I love the OSF, this is my 5th location that I have eaten at. If you are from the area and you don't know any different, it's probably okay. But for me, this was not up to par for a OSF. The food was not even close to a traditional OSF, from the pesto ranch, which was not pesto ranch. To the bread, which was undercooked, all the way to the spaghetti. Terrible location and quality, this place needs significant improvement. On a side note: they need to staple the bags closed for Grubhub orders. They should not be leaving the bag wide open for drivers to tamper with the food. Common sense!

James J.

Yelp
They brought a dish with a long black hair on top of the pasta; it was pretty gross. They shouldn't have charged us for the Mac and cheese
google avatar

Glen J.

Yelp
Food was EXCELLENT and the service was prompt Our food was HOT and the portions were adequate for the price Care is taken for children also during dining experience Enrique our server did an amazing job and so did his trainer

Julie O.

Yelp
We were super excited to go, we use to love it as kids. That vwing said, we were WILDLY disappointed. It was a big family gathering and one part of the table didn't get spoons. When my mom asked for some, the waiter told her they were on the table and refused to bring any more. They ended up eating their ice cream with a fork. The food was inedible. I don't know how to describe it, but the chicken was the wrong texture and taste. My husband didn't believe me until he took a bite of it and he shook his head. My sister in law gave her husband a taste of hers for the same reason. She couldn't eat hers, either... neither could my daughter. My other daughter said hers tasted ok but the cheese was gross, but was sick the next morning (not like food poisoning, more like her gut couldn't tolerate it). I was also nauseous the rest of the night. The pasta looked old and sticky, like they had plated it much earlier and left it. The others said it tasted ok, I didn't try it. I ended up sending it back (wasn't going to, but my mom heard us talking at the end of the table) and we tried to explain to the waiter WHY, and he argued with us, said it was the breading. The substituted it for ravioli, which i didnt try until the next day, and it was ok, thank goodness. I know we personally wont be back, if you do go.... dont order the chicken. Maybe they will fix the issue.... but also seeing similar reviews here, so maybe they wont. Hopefully they do, would be sad to see this place go under when its been around for so long
google avatar

Cooper C.

Yelp
Yikes. This place is so bad now. The service and staff were all wonderful and I have no complaint with them. They are the reason I'm not giving 1 star. The food is yucky. We all felt gross afterward too. The bread is dry on the outside and the chicken parmigiana was the worst chicken I've ever had. I don't know if it's the kitchen staff or the food venders but I wont be coming back.

Phyllis P.

Yelp
The food has been delicious! We have really enjoyed going back several times in the last few months. Favorites are the Mizithra Cheese and the Clam Sauce. The salad is wonderful--fresh, crispy lettuce served on cold plates, delicious blue cheese. Love the spumoni ice cream. Service is always friendly, just a very enjoyable dining experience. We love how the vibe hasn't changed and hope it stays original.

Ryan D.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever!!!! we ordered dinner twice within a week and they did not bring the Sicilian cheese bread either time:( I called the and spoke to the manager and he basically said SO WHAT!! he tried to blame grub hub but the restaurant sends a sealed bag! not sure why you would ever treat customers like that BUT don't expect much from this place!!!!!!!!!!
google avatar

Cody T.

Yelp
Atmosphere is awesome here. I love the decor and the environment. Our family was a bit out of place. There were several couples there having a nice romantic meal while my wife and I were attempting to tame our kids. The food was ok. I got the spinach tortellini with Alfredo sauce which was pretty good. A bit salty, but the tortellini was cooked well and had a good texture. The service was a bit spotty. The restaurant wasn't very full, which is likely due to COVID. It may have been because we had kids with us, but we needed to send back a plate because it wasn't what we ordered. Overall, it was ok. Probably not my first choice for Italian in downtown, but it's a good option from time to time.
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
We came for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon. It was quiet and didn't know if they were open or not. But there were a lot of people eating. The restaurant wraps around towards the back where they even hosted an extremely large group. Service was good. We are big Spaghetti Factory fans (I'm talking about we had our rehearsal dinner at one) and the sour dough and pastas did not taste like "normal". It wasn't bad, but it wasn't as expected. It is a good location and nice to see a familiar chain at Trolley Square

Lisa N.

Yelp
This is a fun place to come with family when we're in Utah. The food is good. Mizithra sauce is unique, and we love that every meal comes with a little ice cream. Our favorite part on this trip was our server Kevin. He was incredibly responsive and kind to our child who kept changing his mind. I like the ambiance too.

Sara T.

Yelp
Food tasted great, service was awesome! Kid approved. The atmosphere was a little noisy but it is expected.
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
I would have to give the old spaghetti factory a 10 out of 10, the service was great, and it was fun being in such a unique part of town. I was surprised how much better the spaghetti was then my expectations, when it comes to spaghetti, I assume it is simply hard not to make it bad which in return causes it to not always be extremely special. The spaghetti definitely blew out my expectations.
google avatar

Sergey S.

Yelp
When you entering this restaurant first time it's impress. Interior is amazing. Old chandeliers. Open walls. Trolley in the center. And many more. But. Yes, there is a big but. Food. It's overpriced. I ordered pasta with reach meat sauce for ~17$. It's similar to bolognese - tomato sauce, meat and spices. What can go wrong with this dish? Easy. Make it cheap. Tomato paste was sour like they use tomato paste instead of real tomato. If they would use tomato sauce from Costco it would be much tastier. By the way, service was good - charming, on time. P.S. It hard to imagine Italian restaurant without good coffee. But here you will get American coffee like in cheap place.
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
I am Not a huge fan of OSF. I go if I have to. I think it's over priced, over salted, and not great quality. IMHO. But for some reason it has a vibe that people love.
google avatar

Nathan F.

Yelp
The server was very rude and did not attend to us. She was very passive and short when speaking with us. During my experience here I was quite unhappy with my dish. The pasta dish I got was not as creamy as expected. The dish was not very tasty and I did not manage to finish it. Yet, I really enjoyed the garlic bread here as it was soft and had a strong garlic taste. Overall, I did not enjoy my experience here. It was crowded, stuffy and the food was not great. I will not be returning anytime soon.
google avatar

Dave S.

Yelp
I'll overpay for basically bottled sauce & pasta, not a lot of choice around here, but the attitude after 90 min for an order you est be ready in 30 +/- min, & to just say "well Our kitchen is really backed up". F-you, I get it you don't care cuz you don't have competition. You wouldn't last 5 seconds if there were options. Bad food worse service, even worse attitude
google avatar

Easton S.

Yelp
My girlfriend planned dinner for here, and when we showed up one of the workers looked at us and just didn't come up to greet us or tell us where to sit, and they just sat and just talked to the other co workers, wouldn't recommend
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
A place with spaghetti in the name should probably learn to cook spaghetti properly. The noodles were absolute mush. Gross. The sauce was only ok. Their salad with house dressing was boring. Extra star because the meatballs were actually good and they have spumoni. I love spumoni.

Julie Z.

Yelp
concerned about the fact that the same person bussing tables and sweeping, is the same person who halfway through cleaning a table stops to set a table without washing hands. other than that great staff great food.

G H.

Yelp
had the disservice of having Dawn as our waitress. she was incredibly passive aggressive towards our group, making rude comments and rushing us to order. the food was good but i was not pleased with our service.

Brian Eduardo M.

Yelp
Place is a classic go to spot. Good pasta place to go to. Highly recommend it. The decor is unique and well kept up.

Anna C.

Yelp
Best service ever! Our server jamon was the sweetest and so kind. He checked up on us the whole time and made us feel welcome. The food was amazing as always and everything was clean and nice when we came.

Ron T.

Yelp
Food is only ok at best. Atmosphere is dark and not entirely sure the table was very clean.
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
Bread was dry and stale. Food was fine if you like frozen pasta thats under cooked and straight from a Schwan's truck. When I complained to the server and he walked away for a minute and came back and said his mangage said there's nothing g they could do. His manager never showed up to apologize or even talk to us. I doubt he ever asked. There are plenty of places that have better food and want your business I suggest you try them first. I can't recommend anything we had as none of it was very good.
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
Walking into the restaurant it had a nice ambiance vibe. It used to be a trolley station. It was a little confusing to find the restaurant, but after wandering around the plaza it was inside a mall upstairs on the 2nd floor. Customer Service was excellent. The pasta was slightly dry, but everything else tasted good. We had a choice of lunch portion or dinner portion. Lunch portion is only served during the weekdays. The only difference between the portion is that lunch didn't come with dessert ice cream and the portion was a little smaller than dinner. Ice cream cost extra for lunch but for a reasonable price for $1.50. There were plenty of parking spaces either in the garage or street parking.
google avatar

Angela H.

Yelp
Food was terrible. Bread was dry like sawdust. Ordered lobster ravioli no flavor pasta was hard like it wasn't cooked. Chicken marsala was rubbery fettuccine noodles were dry, and shrimp was also like rubber. Told the waiter, and he said he would talk to the manager. The waiter came back and said the manager said there wasn't anything they could do. Won't ever go back
google avatar

Alan H.

Yelp
This is a favorite lunch and/or dinner spot of our family and has been for many years. I have heard complaints from some people who dislike the décor or what-have-you, but the kitschy décor is part of the charm of this place in my opinion. The location in Midvale is much more garish and 1940's Brothel than the location at Trolley Square, which has a nice bar and a cool Trolley car right in the middle of the restaurant! Our favorites here include the spinach tortellini, and the "managers favorite" which lets you pick 2 sauces from their selection which include Marinara, Meat Sauce, Clam Sauce, or Myzithra cheese with browned butter. Their delicious sausage add-on is a fantastic accompaniment to any of their dishes! All their meals come with salad, a loaf of their sourdough bread and garlic butter, and after your meal, your choice of vanilla or spumoni ice cream! What a great meal and a great deal. They have a million servers on any given day and we have never had to wait for anything, no matter how busy the restaurant is. I would never hesitate to recommend this place to friends or visitors!
