"Sprint against Usain Bolt at the Olympic Museum Ever wondered what it’s like to race alongside Usain Bolt? Switzerland’s Olympic Museum lets you to sprint against the fastest human on earth...well, his record time anyway. Fresh from a two-year renovation, the highly impressive museum in Lausanne takes you on a trip through the greatest games on earth. Impressive movies, an array of medals, torches and champion’s jerseys fill the multi-floored establishment. Among the highlights is a reaction test, race track, meditation chair, equipment from Olympic greats such as Michael Johnson, Chris Hoy and of course Usain Bolt. Entrance is a reasonable 18CHF (18 dollars) with an audio guide costing 5CHF. Afterwards, warm-down with a meander along the stunning Lake Geneva waterfront."

It is obviously a must visit museum if you are in the Olympic capital Lausanne. Everything is very well presented. I particularly love the video clips introducing every Olympic Games through the years, as every clip begins with important events of that year. I’d very much love to finish them all but my schedule doesn’t allow me to. All the collections are inspiring and hold collective memories of people from all over the world, some of which remind me of the days when I was little and watched on TV the Olympic Games with my father. The -1 floor is fun. View of the lake from the terrace of the restaurant is stunning. Free access for Swiss pass holders.

We had a fantastic experience here. I never thought that this would actually be a good museum that I would enjoy seeing because I assumed it was all about the games, but watching the history and seeing the interactivity of all of the different exhibits, this was really really good well worth the money and the Front Desk guy was really nice and I had some sort of ticket to something else so I was able to get a minimal discount and this was a really nice way to spend an afternoon. I did not need to buy tickets in advance and even the lobby is gorgeous so unless you’re waiting a long time, it was fine looking around there

Google
Very nice. We were desperately looking for a clean bathroom that’s also free lol. It’s nice to see the poster of the Beijing Olympic in 2008. Unfortunately we only found the poster card but not many other souvenirs options such as fridge magnet for the Beijing Olympic.

Google
Free admission with the Lausanne city pass. Cool exhibition showcasing the history of the Olympics from ancient times, all the way through to 2026. Highlights include a section about art and design of the posters and iconography of the Olympics, as well as a well rounded gift shop with good items at all price ranges

We were here in early July and it was a nice walk along the lake to this museum perched on a small hill in the middle of a lovely park. Please visit the grounds even if you do not step inside the museum. Nice views over the lake and pleasant outdoor Olympic related art and information sprinkled through the outdoor grounds and all of this is free to access. Inside it is a well curated place with lots of information for an Olympics fan. We did it all in about 2 hours. The gift shop is where you buy the entrance tickets. Pro tip: if you do have a ticket and are there during the daytime, you do NOT need a lunch reservation to simply have a drink on their glorious outdoor terrace at the restaurant on the top floor. We just asked the host if we could sit outside for a drink and he enthusiastically said of course! What views!!! Drinks were not cheap but not more expensive than any other restaurant. So if you are curious and didn’t make a lunch reservation, please do stop by and see if you can snag a seat outside. The staff were kind and helpful.

Olympics museum is a must visit place for all Olympic fans. The location is stunning on the shores of lake Geneva in Lausanne. Infrastructure of museum is excellent with free locker rooms for storage. You study entire history of Olympics from its origin in Greece to revival of modern Olympics. There are archives of summer and winter Olympic games, mascots and models of all Olympic torches, Olympic uniforms etc. The museum used excellent multimedia to present everything. There are videos on projector screen which display opening ceremonies of all Olympic seasons. However, Olympics museum has lots of scope for expansion considering its huge space. You can have interactive games like FIFA museum in Zurich. A Hall of Fame can also be made featuring most celebrated Olympians of all times like Michael Phelps. A special section for upcoming Olympics can also be done. Hope to see these updates with passing time. Entry to Olympics museum is free with Swiss Travel Pass.

This museum is located facing Lausanne (Geneva)Lake with a nice park in front and is very well connected through road and metro rail network. It is a fantastic audio visual experience indoor as well out door and must see for tourists. Plan to spend at least 2 hours here and you will cherish it.

Google
We spent there more than 2 hours. Interactive, with plenty of interesting information, surrounded by a nice park, with a great view and even access to a beach. If you are in Lausanne, must visit. Tickets are 20 CHF per person, no needed to buy in advance.

Yelp
This is an awesome museum if you're really interested in the Olympics or if you're a child. I really enjoyed it, but I wouldn't recommend it to the average adult. The exhibits were well put together, and there was a lot of interesting information to read with fun games for children. I loved the temporary exhibit (free to the public) about running and the focus on Paris 2024. Admission was more expensive than I would have liked, even with the student discount for 14 CHF. The Olympic park outside is nice to walk around.

Yelp
It's been a long time since I came through here. I created a listing to review the Olympic Games but it got merged with the Olympic Museum in Lausanne. I've actually been to this museum, funnily enough (in 2005, I believe it was, but I could be off), so I decided to post the review anyway. The Olympic Museum in Switzerland is worth a visit if you are obsessed with the Olympics but we're really not. We like the World Cup a lot. So I won't be taking Barbie back here with me most likely. It's still a pretty cool Museum and it's been a long time since I was here but it looks from the pictures like it's changed, so I'll have to consider maybe giving it another visit when I come back to Switzerland maybe next year maybe no go.

Yelp
Growing up, watching the Olympics with my family was an event, so when I found out there was a museum and I was in the same town for a couple of days, it was definitely on the itinerary. This museum is pretty awesome! The history and the exhibits were so cool to go through. I easily spent a few hours just going through the museum. The only parking is on the street, and it always seems busy, so you just have to wait around for a spot. And surrounding the museum is a beautiful waterfront and was easily a great walk through the beautiful neighborhood.

Yelp
A short walk from the Ouchy metro, a set of stairs builds up to a squat, modern museum on a hill. Along the way up, there's various statues of athleticism, from giant abs to Niki de St. Phalle's colorful soccer players. It's in a gorgeous location, with lake Geneva and the French alps in the distance. The museum is very interactive and filled with historic memorabilia, from torches to opening ceremony outfits. The videos at many of the exhibits, with their exciting, fast-paced soundtracks, incited an interesting mix of feelings: nostalgia, pride, awe, and hope.

Yelp
Pretty cool and educational museum for anyone to visit while in Lausanne. We were only here for about an hour and explored the museum very fast since we got here in the late afternoon. I think it's free admission when you show your Swiss pass. There were a lot of historic Olympic memorabilia on display and video clips of the past Olympic games. I love the souvenir shop and they sold items such as magnets, postcards, clothing, and etc. I would visit here again one day and take my time to explore the museum.

Yelp
Set alongside Lake Geneva, the location is the first of many nice elements of the Olympic Museum. Entry is 18 francs and then you begin exploring the 3 levels of the museum. I really enjoyed the history, memorabilia, stories and more within the museum. There is something for everyone. It's really interesting to see how things have changed over the years and throughout the world with each respective event. My favorite part of the museum was seeing the different torches used from the first Olympic games until now. As you depart, take a swing through the gift shop. It seems that more recent games were the feature within the shop.

Yelp
Well worth your time to check out Olympic history, various medals and torches used in various games. Neat, official, well organized.

Yelp
What an incredible day I had here. Be sure to set aside some time to enjoy it. I loved the entire museum and really felt that a lot of effort was put into making sure that your got your money's worth out of it. It's geared for the young and older so don't be worried that you won't have anything to connect with here. There was a sweet cafe on the second level and small gift shop on the main floor. If you have the opportunity to go here, please do.

Yelp
Such a great museum! Great exhibitions, videos, and it overlooks the lake at its cafe. What's not to love?

Yelp
The museum was recently almost entirely renovated. This seemed first a bit an overkill as the "old on" was great already, but the new set-up is dazzling. I would say if you only have a break planned in Lausanne and can only visit one thing, this is the museum you should visit. Even if you are not particularly fond of olympics. The premises, the building and the entire exhibition are really worth it. As a born Lausannois, I am proud and honored we have this museum there.
google avatar

Stephen H.

Yelp
Recently renovated with touchscreen exhibits, great films, and all sorts of fascinating exhibits. I think some of my friends who were with me who couldn't care less about the Olympics still found it interesting. Figure on at least 2 hours. It's not near the city centre of Lausanne so you'll either need to drive or bus out there.

Yelp
There's a beautiful park that surrounds the museum. The restaurant has one of the best views on the Lake Leman. Ouchy is a sweet ancient city that claims to be independent of Lausanne. Of course it is a neighborhood of Lausanne.
google avatar

Greg D.

Yelp
Really Excellent museum. Totally renovated. Amazing outdoor area with sculptures and athletic props. Good for kids. Nice scenes of the lake from the entrance. It's a bit pricey, but worth it. The cafe was also very nice.

Yelp
Excellent brunch Perfect value for money compared to lot of brunch in the area. To combine with a musee visit. Kid friendly place.

Yelp
Although a museum for cost, it was one of the best I have been in with lots of detail paid to every bit of info. Whether you're a sports fan or not this place is remarkable. I am a magnet collector, they didn't have a general one but I have the memories! It is a must see with your free travel pass in Lausanne. It is a short walk from the Ouchy rail stop, lots of stairs, or you can opt for the slow gradual climb to the top to get to the entrance. There are nice photo opts the whole way up the incline take your time. Check the calendar, part of the year they are not open on Mondays!

Yelp
Fun for the whole family. The Olympic museum is wonderful. It is modern and so well done with information in English and French. The staff is super friendly and there is so much information. Plan to spend more than an hour here because there is so much information to see and things to do.

Jim P.

Yelp
What a fantastic place to visit. The grounds are beautiful with some really cool displays of Olympic records. If you have time it is really nice to visit the restaurant. We sat on the terrace overlooking the Lake and had a really delicious lunch of local fish from there Lake. I can't wait to go back for a second visit. Don't miss walking from the museum down to the Lake, The water features are total first class!!! This is a great place to sit on the lawns and enjoy lunch or a good book

Yelp
If you like the Olympics, then this is a required stop. Located on the beautiful shores of Lac Leman in the Ouchy area, this spectacular museum provides you with everything you ever wanted to know about the Olympics from its history to the present. You'll find fun artifacts from various record-breaking moments, as well as a gallery of the Olympic medal designs. Highly recommended for all ages.
