"Going Back in Time Situated just outside of Copenhagen , the Danish Open Air Museum is a fantastic place that allows you to see and experience Danish history. The museum features historic buildings, traditional breeds of Danish livestock, and stunning gardens. Buildings within the museum cover the time period 1650-1940 with a mixture of farm houses, mills, and common buildings available for you to visit."

Walk through decades and centuries of historic Denmark at this fabulous museum. There are so many buildings to see, all from different eras. Visitors are free to explore inside and out at their own leisure. I loved every minute. We spent a few hours, but could’ve easily spent an entire day. Highly recommend.

Spent the day here during a weekday and it was quiet so perfect for a day out of Copenhagen. It is only a few minutes away by train from the center.
The museum is lovely and huge. It’s a quiet and pleasant place in the countryside. Everything is outside in the park where you can see older houses from Danmark & Sweden. It’s very interesting!
Also they have some animals here like donkeys or rabbits. They all seems very happy and have a lot of space which is an amazing thing for them. I liked the fact that we can pet the bunnies which was adorable.
We had a magical time here. It was so relaxing and also very interesting to see how they used to live in the past.
The museum is well preserved and the staff is also kind and welcoming.

A must-visit open-air museum around Copenhagen. It contains many original old houses that have been collected from all over Denmark and reassembled in the museum to showcase an authentic Danish countryside experience from that era which is from 1700, 1800, and 1900.
The prices there are reasonable.

One of the oldest open air museum in the world. A little away from the city. 15 mins walk from the metro. Due to its rustic environment if it rains your shoes will be muddy. Nice place to see old historic houses.

Absolutely beautiful. I loved every building and all the work they've put into maintaining and growing this place. We came across actors and actresses that also do their part in adding reality and context to the way things were.
Let me tell you the real context here about why I love it. I'm a tech person. The app I run is on my profile page. My life is in the web, on the web and exists because of the internet.
Despite this context, I love to peer into history. I love BEING in history even more.
This entire place whisks me away to another world where life was much simpler. People worked manually in difficult jobs. People lived very simply.
I feel like appreciating this, and history itself - is a duty - not an option. I'm really glad this exists. A similar open air museum exists in Stockholm too.

I loved it here. So many houses from old days. Very interesting, and you learn allot about history. Great for families. Children can pet goats and rabbits, and we saw horses too.

The windmill and water mill are a must see attractions. The guides are knowledgeable not only on history of buildings, but on overall history of Denmark, though their English sometimes is not as flawless as in other attractions in Denmark.
I wish there were prerecorded audio guides that you could access through QR or by calling a phone number with the code of the attraction you're interested in.

Excellent place, particularly if you do the So Danish exhibition at the DAC beforehand as you can see it in context. The place is massive, but easy to get around.
Only thing I will say is that, as lovely as it was to see the animals, some of them had no shade in their enclosure. It was surprisingly hot today so was feeling for the poor sheep
