An evening away to celebrate with my wife was in a word, spectacular. The Opus was conveniently located to our home and, from the moment we arrived, we were treated like royalty. The Spa at Opus has the highest accolades from my wife and provided the best massage she has ever received. As for me, upon check-in I was greeted by Vanessa. Folks, she was absolutely to shelf. After sharing the reason for our stay she provided us with a free complementarity upgrades that made our stay better than we could have imagined. Vanessa, thank you for your excellent service and professional acumen. Management is in your immediate future! One of the best overnights and the most relaxation we have had in a long time.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Ordered lunch up to the spa… 1.5hrs goes by, and the kitchen didn’t even know if our food was finished or where it was. We had to cancel the order. Zero accountability from the spa front desk. We were told “we’re super busy today.” FYI it was Super Bowl weekend and the hotel was basically empty. Valet was smoking weed in out car, and didn’t unlock the passenger door. I hop in and the ashtray is open. Just really bad customer service and a lack or accountability from Spa front desk.

Our stay in this hotel is a horrible experience. STAY AWAY. We were there for an event and planned to bring our dog. Before making the reservation, we called Opus to make sure they are able to accommodate us during the specific timeframe, we also checked with them that the pet fee for our entire stay is $150 according to their website, and we were informed the information is correct. When we checked out, our outstanding bill was shockingly over $1000. Opus insisted to charge our dog $150 per night because our stay is 5 nights, and “$150 per stay” is only 4 nights, so if our stay is over 4 nights, they charge $150 per night (what a BS). To make things worse, they didn’t apply the daily credit of $30 for our breakfast. That’s why our bill was unexpected. According to Marriott’s T&C, when Autograph collection hotels (Opus is one of them ) do not have a Marriott lounge, the Platinum Elite members are supposed to get free breakfast, but not in this Hotel, they only provide $30 credit which is not even enough for 1 person. And the funny part about their lobby restaurant is that hotel guests can’t order “To go” due to some “union rules” but a guest can sit down, order, and ask a box to go. Be aware when you sit down, the food won’t be ready for at least 30 minutes, and the valet takes another 20 minutes. We had to fight our bill and the front desk lady was extremely rude. The other front desk Kevin just didn’t care. They claimed hotel GM was sick and another onsite manager didn’t even bother to talk to us. We actually stayed in this hotel before when it was a Ritz Carlton and it was fine. Horrible! Horrible experience! The only friendly staff in this Hotel is Oscar at the bell desk.

Google
This hotel was such a disappointment. We stayed here after a family event, and the experience was awful from start to finish. The front desk staff were indifferent and unhelpful during check-in, making us wait almost an hour for our room despite having a reservation. When we finally got into our room, it was dirty—crumbs on the floor, stained sheets, and a bathroom that hadn’t been cleaned properly. The worst part was breakfast the next morning. The service was chaotic, and it took over 30 minutes just to get coffee. To top it off, one of the servers was outright rude when we asked about our order, acting like we were a bother for even asking. We were hoping for a relaxing stay, but instead, it was one frustration after another. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone—it’s overpriced and doesn’t live up to even the most basic standards of hospitality.

The hotel is older but in good shape. My room had some moldy spots in the bathtub. The bed is comfortable and the room decor was nice. I did order something from Amazon that was delivered and I had a photo showing where it was dropped off but no one could seem to find it. Oscar was kind and helpful in trying to look for it. Some front desk people are much kinder than others and more willing to assist with questions.

I had a wonderful night here! There was something wrong with the shower and Vanessa was there to correct the issue. She upgraded us, sincerely apologized, and even through in a couple drink vouchers. This place has great amenities and wonderful service. We will definitely come back to stay again in the future!

Google
Disgraceful Service - Stay Away I called The Opus, which is supposed to be a 5-star hotel, to ask a simple question about booking a daytime room for a groomsmen's party as part of a wedding, since this would allow the bridal party to get ready separately in their suite. To my surprise, the staff member, Jessica, was incredibly rude and dismissive, telling me that “only motels do such things.” It was honestly shocking to receive such unprofessional treatment for merely asking a straightforward question. For a hotel of this caliber, I expected much better service. Jessica made no effort to assist or even offer alternatives, which completely goes against the level of hospitality you would expect from a 5-star establishment. This experience left me very disappointed and hesitant to trust this hotel for such an important occasion. I hope management reviews this behavior and reinforces proper customer service standards.

Google
Our stay at this hotel was a complete disaster. Upon arrival, the check-in process was disorganized, and we were given the wrong room—one with only one bed when we specifically booked two. It took almost an hour to fix, and during that time, the staff acted like it was our fault. Later that evening, we tried to call the front desk for extra towels and blankets, but no one answered after multiple attempts. When we finally went down to ask in person, the staff was dismissive and rude, saying they were “too busy.” The worst part? The air conditioning in our room wasn’t working properly, making it impossible to sleep comfortably. This hotel clearly doesn’t care about its guests. The lack of professionalism, poor service, and inattentive staff ruined what should have been an enjoyable trip. I would never stay here again and highly advise others to avoid it.

Simone H.

Yelp
Vanessa was so nice and provided the best service which I appreciate. She was helpful when I initially called after booking and was nice when we met in person. Great representative for the hotel. Personality was genuine. Thank you. Honorable mention, Tao didn't give me a hard time about a booking error when I really wasn't in the mood to deal with anymore stress for literally a one night stay. So shout out to him. Thanks. The people/staff, lobby, amenities, restaurant, bar, location/distance to Westchester Mall, make this hotel. Not the rooms. The rooms are giving old. I had to clean years of rust and gunk off the overhead shower with Lysol wipes. Grossed me out but it had to be done so I could shower in 637. The Chicago Autograph hotel puts the rooms here in Westchester to shame. The rooms there make you not want to leave. Overall, it was fine.

Marie G.

Yelp
This place exceeded my expectations. The staff is amazing! They took my bags up to my room, turned in the lights and TV and made sure everything was as it should. I had pre ordered some nosh items and a bottle of wine since I was getting in at 2:30 and I was not meeting my family until 7:30 for dinner. It came up within minutes of me arriving to my room. Housekeeping was a joy- they came and helped zip me into my ball gown for the party Saturday night. And there is a full service S.p.A. and salon in the 9th floor- they did an amazing job in my hair. There are two restaurants in the hotel as well as a good bar and lounge area that will serve breakfast- or you can have breakfast brought to your room with a large pot of French Press coffee - that's what I did this place is a must return to on my list when coming to New York.

John R.

Yelp
Running a jackhammer and chopsaw at 9 am in the rooms near me is simply not acceptable, especially at $400 a night. There is a slope in the floor in my room if at least two inches from wall to center. Maybe get a structural engineer in to determine why this newer structure is falling down enough to break the plumbing that is in need of repair?! Not at all acceptable.

Jody W.

Yelp
I was disappointed with my recent stay at this property. Yes - I had a very large corner room - I'm guessing due to my "platinum elite" Marriott status, but for the price and pretentiousness, it wasn't really worth it. I'll start with the good: -Nice sized room -Room was mostly clean -Bed was very comfortable -Air conditioning worked -Spacious closet -Great location - right near lots of stuff in downtown White Plains Stuff that was not quite fabulous: -Room wasn't completely clean (finding other people's hair on clean towels and even on the shampoo pump in the shower = sure way to skeeve me out). -Closet had windows that didn't have any kind of coverings (and there was a building right next door) -Parking is valet only -I had to call for my car at least 6 times after getting hung up on by multiple people....and I had an appointment to get to.... -No mat for the shower was in the room - so I had to use one of the body towels on the floor to avoid sliding all over the place on the lovely marble surface (I'm guessing that housekeeping didn't quite finish up prior to my check-in?). -I checked out via the app on the TV but never received a folio. So, I had to call and get it sent to me. Got a little bit of 'tude when I called for my folio. Someone was having a bad day. Anyway, I think this place has potential. After all, it used to be a Ritz-Carleton. But I'm not rushing back.

Caaysabella L.

Yelp
Everything went well. The place is great, from the valet staff, to the reception and cafe, the staff were so courteous. We got to meet Javier.. he is very accommodating.

Anne K.

Yelp
I had such an enjoyable stay at the Opus Westchester. Every single employee was pleasant from the check in to the bartender to the house keeping attendant, everyone seemed happy to help. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel itself is modern and seems to have been renovated recently. We also got room service and it was delicious. I'd recommend staying here if you're visiting white plains or the surrounding area!

James J.

Yelp
I've stayed here in the past and it's not that great. I'm a Pilot and most pilots stay at the Sonesta. Good food options for everyone elsewhere. Opus has a group of locals that gather in lounge and it's like ground hog day. More like last day on earth feeling. Food is awful. Menu said Caesar salad, but looked like cat food with dripping fat steak. I imagine this place a s last resort if staying in HPN. Go to Sonesta. Walk up hill and have fine dining every night on the strip. I'm so but this is way over priced for a geriatric place.

Claudia A.

Yelp
Lovely staff!! From the desk to the lobby bar, so so welcoming and nice. We love in 1 Renaissance Sq after we sold our home in Bedford NY. Great decision.

Julia A.

Yelp
The Opus is a jewel of Westchester with exceptional service in a tastefully artsy setting. I got ready and stayed here, along with my bridal party, for my wedding at Kanopi atop the penthouse (a gem in itself). Ronelle, Opus's Meeting & Special Events Manager, was exceptional -- she coordinated our room blocks, put in a special request for extra early check-in so I could get ready with ample time (with a steamer/director's chair at no cost), cleared the 2nd floor landing for my first look photo shoot, and sent us chocolate and prosecco to our suite, impeccably timed to the ending of our wedding. My niece/nephew loved the indoor pool, and the fitness room was excellent for an early morning workout before checkout! We also love the lobby bar - classy with local light bites.

Yeimi D.

Yelp
Very attentive to detail. Very nice decor upscale atmosphere. A bit pricey but you're paying for good service and ambiance. Love it here

Yelp
I stayed here last month as part of a wedding party, and given that the bride and groom had selected this hotel, I thought it would be fine, it was anything but. The lobby and entire hotel smells so strongly of artificial air freshener, the piping is loud and I woke up every time someone showered or used the sink, the walls are super thin and again, I woke up any time someone waked by because it sounded like they were talking in the room, and the room was gross. The mirror in the bathroom had white residue caked on it, there was a martini glass in the closet with cigarette butts, the floor and rug were nasty and needed a deep clean, the food at the restaurant was overpriced and unappetizing, and the coffee was awful. I got an AirBnB after the first night of no sleep and would not recommend staying here. I reached out to the hotel GM but never heard back.

Rachel T.

Yelp
We had the pleasure staying at The Opus Westchester. Our long weekend stay was just lovely. The room was massive , clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The staff were very pleasant from the valet to the cleaning crews and front desk staff. The hotel is located in the heart of the city with wonderful restaurants and stores all within walking distance. I recommend you visit this hotel if you're in the area.

Yelp
To kick off my 2023 Yelp Elite Reviews, I have to shout out The Opus Westchester! I am in my third trimester and can't really travel, but wanted to do a small getaway for my birthday. I was able to book a night at The Opus via the Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts program. There were definitely perks that came with my card, but the staff at the hotel were so lovely! Prior to arriving, I reached out a couple weeks earlier via email to ask some questions regarding the facility and how the program worked. My husband also reached out to put in a request for anything special to celebrate my birthday, but we never received word back from the hotel. When my husband called to get the answers to the questions I had, he spoke to someone who wasn't that helpful. We had read previous reviews that echoed these sentiments, but decided, we would just go for the night and hope for the best. I am so glad we did! When we arrived, I spoke with Tracey at the front desk and was provided information from her and Vanessa regarding my complimentary room upgrade (*included when available with my card and Marriott status), a cute welcome gift and the benefits of the card program. Tracey was lovely and both were so friendly. There was complimentary infused water at the front desk and the lobby was spacious and elegant. Oscar and the other guys at the front were very helpful with the doors and luggage for the patrons arriving and leaving. They have valet only parking, but we had already reserved parking close by. We checked in and decided to grab some lunch before going up to the room. My sweet husband called the hotel and asked if there was any possibility to move to a one bedroom room so that I would be able to sleep comfortably while he was in the room - that was so nice and thoughtful! The room was beautiful and was so spacious! We got to the pool before it closed at 9PM and it was nice to have the option. It was a little busy, but we were able to get a corner and wade around. A little chilly, but nice to enjoy a pool in January :) The gym was also in the same area with nice and clean equipment, water and headphones you can use and recycle. With the Amex FHR program we got a $100 on-site credit that we were allowed to use for dining or room service and a complimentary breakfast in the form of a $30 credit per person. We decided to order room service and so glad we did! The fees and charges were all inclusive of the credits and the food was delicious! I got the opus burger, which honestly didn't look like much when it arrived, but was the best burger I've had in a while! A simple double cheeseburger on a brioche bun and I didn't need to add anything. My husband got the fried chicken sandwich and equally loved his. We were both very happy with our food and actually got a few apps as well. One of them was not right, but it was taken care of right away. All staff we dealt with were great! From Gloria on the phone taking the order to Ferdous delivering the dinner. We also received mini bottled condiments, tableware, plates and ice cold cups of water. Earlier in the evening, Tracey and the front desk staff were also kind enough to send up a sweet something to help me celebrate my birthday! I was blown away by the thought and it was so nice! Thank you all! :) Ferdous also brought these treats! The next morning we got some yummy breakfast via room service again with Gloria and were able to enjoy in our robes and slippers (you can request). Since we had a 4PM check-out, I was able to take a nap and just relax on my birthday while my husband enjoyed TV in the living room. Check-out was smooth and I was able to see Tracey again before leaving to thank her for such a great experience! If we had more time I would've looked into the spa and looking forward to coming back and experiencing the new restaurant that was going to be opening onsite soon. I would definitely come back and recommend this place for a mini getaway close by, especially if you can get the FHR or even Marriott Bonvoy perks. I know that these extras contributed to my wonderful time and I felt the staff went above and beyond for me! It was a great way to spend some time before the baby arrives :)

Ryna D.

Yelp
Excellent design hotel in White Plains. We stayed here on our recent trip back to NY for a friend's wedding. The suites are very spacious and elegant! The lobby bar is also very nice!

Yelp
Worst Hotel I have stayed at Jan 2023 Don't spend your money here not worth your time or to spend your money here ! This hotel is not worth your time. I've traveled all over the world, and never in my wildest dreams have I ever had an issue with the general manager getting in contact with me when I asked the hotel to do so. I checked in yesterday January 26 2023 went to the desk today January 27,2023 and still never heard from the GM General Manager. For me. This type of service is totally unacceptable and I would not rate this hotel a 4.3 like others have read it I would be reading it a one the hotel is dirty, the lobby is dirty and never cleaned and the elevators were dirty. I do have pictures. I hope I can post them. At the time that I'm staying here the hotel does not have a restaurant that is open for its guests. I did put the Date in the review so you know that this review is a current review..As you can see I am well diverted traveler . I have been love to travel as much as I can, if you will continue to read you will see I have been to almost every state EXCEPT these 8: Alaska, Arkansas, Idaho, Hawaii, Montana, Washington State, South Dakota and North Dakota. I have been to Toronto Canada 2 times, & Montreal Canada ,Kingston & Negril Jamaica November for the 10th time going to Jamaica, Jamaica is one of my favorite places to go, Aruba, St. Lucia, Club Med Martinique, Caracas & Margarita Island Venezuela, Punta Cana & Puerto Plata Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico 2 times, Bahamas St. Martin, Club Med Turks & Caicos, Haiti, Cancun & Acapulco Mexico 2 times ,Cabo San Lucas Mexico, Cozumel Mexico 3 Times, Puerto Vallarta MEXICO Roatan Honduras, 2 times, Bangkok Thailand, Pattaya Beach , Phnon Penh Cambodia, Yerevan Armenian 2 times, Lisbon Portugal, Timisoara Romania, Vilnius Lithuania, Casablanca Morocco, Madrid Spain, Bergen Norway 2 times a week apart, Amsterdam The Netherlands, Puerto Vallarta MEXICO . Just was in Bermuda Every one of these trips stayed in a nice hotel and always had the GM get in touch with me . This hotel the GM Elizabeth Andrews who is the GM thinks she is above her guest . GO Elsewhere Don't stay here this place has northing to offer Over priced Spa too ! Don't waste your hard earned money ! The GENERAL MANAGER ELIZABETH ANDREWS should be a shamed of her self disgusting ! The Picture of the Elevator was there for 2 days dirty and not cleaned . The other pic is the front of the hotel

Yelp
Such a clean hotel. Room service is fast, and the food was good. Staying overnight but definitely want to stay again. Glad I discovered this hotel -- nicest one in and around this part of town. This is the way a hotel should be: Clean. Great service. And above and beyond.

Karen F.

Yelp
We had a lovely 2 night stay on the 5th floor for a wedding and it was a wonderful hotel for us. Expensive - but the room was spacious - the bathroom was huge and very clean with a rain shower and a separate "soaking" tub. Lovely. We needed to change rooms the 2nd night, due to a plumbing issue, which is why I did not leave 5 stars. Menaz - the concierge/bellman - is wonderful. Did not order room service as it was very pricey - there is a Starbux within a very short walking distance. Valet parking only.

Natalie C.

Yelp
LOVE opus Westchester. Grand lobby. Lovely great wedding venue. We stayed for a weekend getaway and loved it. Kid can play at the pool. The Greek restaurant across the street was fabulous. Walking distance to other restaurants and shops and everywhere else. Car can stay at parking lot. LOVE the service.

Sheik Abu Yacoub B.

Yelp
Booked this hotel via Amex Fine Hotels, came in from LA. I usually stay at Four Seasons, JW, and Ritz Carlton via Amex. Never seen this hotel so I trust American Express suggestions. I wouldn't say this hotel would be like many others especially due to the restaurant being in the lobby. Employees were great and mindful for an exceptional experience. A few employees stood out such as when I checked in, Mazin in front lobby was always smiling. Housekeeper saying good morning each time we passed Restaurant had good value The employees made the experience great. Would I stay again, yes

Melissa G.

Yelp
Lovely hotel, really nice contemporary rooms that are super clean and beautifully appointed. Excellent service. Tay at the front desk was super helpful. Lovely experience.

Yelp
White Plains NY is kind of like Towson MD....it's centerpiece is a very dated shopping mall...a bit of the downtown is a gritty ethnic enclave which includes some really good Peruvian pollo ala brasa and some Pac Rim offerings...even a Utica (NY) pizza joint for your pleasure. In an effort to get more people to live downtown...they put in a downtown Shop Rite and some other big boxers. It's not my kind of town to live in...still has that drab but there is some development that is inevitable due to housing costs and its on Metro North. I was visiting some friends in the area and I had a comped evening courtesy of Marriott (I've been a post-pandemic road warrior for work..) so I picked this place. It's a former Ritz-Carlton...if truth be known, it reminded me of the Logan (an old Four Seasons) in Philly...probably some past glory, but definitely one can see if you have stayed at the Ritz in Montreal or NYC, this is not even close to that vibe. It is a very decent vibe (well trained staff)...rooms are sizeable, decent bar, valet-only car parking (35 a day) which was efficient. Would I say this is 550 a night hotel (rack rate?)....not a chance. Is it the best chain branded hotel in White Plains? Yeah probably....but I can see this place was nowhere near what people were used to as a former Ritz...even with the new furnishings and the Opus name.

Corby L.

Yelp
The lobby is fine. The bar and restaurant is abhorrent. The seating is gross and dirty. The food is pedestrian but marked up like it's gourmet. The lounge waiter was so nice ? But the other nights the bartenders were so rude.

Logan B.

Yelp
We stayed here for a wedding and had a great stay! Valet car service , no self parking. Large room we were on the corner of the building with great big windows it was nice! Great bathroom and bed was comfortable! We ordered breakfast room service, was quick and filling. Would recommend! The lighting by the full length mirror was kinda dim

Ibbi S.

Yelp
I had an exceptional experience at the Opus Hotel Spa and Salon, specifically with stylist Maria. She did an outstanding job fixing a previous bad haircut and color from another salon, and transformed my hair into a refreshed and rejuvenated look. The entire process was relaxing and seamless (thanks to the accommodating and hospitable service from front desk attendant Anna). I am over the moon with the final outcome and grateful for the fantastic experience at the Opus Hotel Spa and Salon.

Scott H.

Yelp
I have good friends that are staying at the hotel tonight for their anniversary. I wanted to send them a gift. I just called the hotel's front desk and told them what I was looking to do. The person who I spoke to said that I can't just give a credit card over the phone, I have to fill out a form and it had to be approved by a manager. However, no manager was available. WTF???? Way to create a great experience for your guests! I stayed here a few times when it was the Ritz, and this would have NEVER happened. I would never stay at this hotel or recommend.

Yelp
I am super disappointed in the service of the opus spa. My husband gifted me a massage for Valentine's Day. Drove there a few weeks ago and on the way, the front desk called to cancel as a therapist called out. Understand this happens, I ended up rescheduling. The woman was so nice on the phone and booked me for 10 am Saturday. I asked about the amenities and use beforehand, etc. I came from a morning workout class and arrived at 9-9:15. According to Google, they open at 9 am. They indeed were not open. Their website says 10. I waited in the lobby of the hotel and around 945 decided to call. To my surprise, they were open and opened at 930. This was not properly communicated. I went up to my appointment and explained the mishap and the front desk woman was noticeably unpleasant arguing that google and the website say 930. Anyhow, that's wrong. She showed me to my locker and I had about 10 minutes for the sauna and steam room. Neither of them were warm, my hot Pilates class prior was warmer than the sauna. The steam room was not ready and smelled of mold. Rushed through those and sat in the relaxation lounge. About 20 minutes passed and nobody came in. I made my way to the front desk and asked if I was going to be seen for my 10 am. They seemed flustered and said they were working on getting a therapist; mind you three women already were called. They said it wouldn't be much longer; however, I asked is there no one here? Sure enough, that was it, again. And that was also a sign that for what I'm paying, this place isn't worth it. They were apologetic, but seriously, get your service together. Someone should have come and found me and explained this. Very disappointing experience and sad I drove there two Saturdays and have still not received a massage. This is a customer service and management issue. If you're going to present your spa like a high-end experience, with the same prices to match, you must treat it like one. That is not the case. My suggestion - save your money and find a new place. There's a reason this happened twice!

Manhattan N.

Yelp
The staff is not trained properly on how to provide satisfactory customer service to guests. Very rigid. They need to understand that they are in the service industry and are here to make the guests stay as great as possible. I have stayed at Marriott for years and have never been charged for complimentary water bottles. Also, they refuse to send up outside food to the room. Delivering items to the room is a very standard service for a "high-end" hotel - the staff simply doesn't get it or the managers don't and need to be re-trained. People expect consistency across the brands and this place is unimpressive.

Mario F.

Yelp
We stayed overnight while waiting for some documents to arrive and hit the Italian Consulate in NYC. We debated staying in White Plains over NYC and made the right choice. The only shocker in White Plains was the overall parking scam. The parking fees are obnoxious. Now I see why people head over to Greenwich and stay at the Del or J House.

Hilary S.

Yelp
I recently stayed at this hotel. The room was very nice and clean. However, there was a loud crowd on my hallway at 2 am that kept me awake. I asked security to help quiet them, and they tried - but I had a horrible night's sleep. The next morning I discovered a leak in the bathroom. The floor was a huge puddle. I explained all of this to the manger and he offered me points and a discount on my next stay, but refused to give me a credit for the room. This was very disappointing. I am a Marriott Platinum Elite member and expected better treatment. Not sure how I could be charged for the room after this experience.

Robin W.

Yelp
It has a ton of potential, but has some issues... on our most recent stay: 1) the pool was VERY cold and the pool area was kept quite cold - the hotel should be more transparent that it was more like a polar plunge. I specifically called prior to booking our stay and asked about the pool temperature because we saw another review about it, and we were reassured there was no issue with the pool. When we got to the pool deck and checked the temp, the attendant told us that the engineers are on the way, as other guests complained they couldn't swim, but it wouldn't be fixed for hours. 2) ordering room service was extremely hard and staff was apathetic. We were placed on hold for about 20 minutes, hung up on a couple times, and waited for a long time to order... 3) then, when the food finally arrived, the bread was MOLDY! Disgusting. 4) the cleanliness of our room wasn't awful, but it wasn't what I would call "fine hotel" material. There were previous guests' hairs throughout the room.

Yelp
First rate service and accommodations! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our first stay at the Opus this past weekend. The food and cocktails in the lounge were top notch, and the servers were true professionals. The room was spacious (kids thought it was really "cool" too!) and beds were extremely comfortable. The rooftop indoor pool was an awesome plus!
