This B & B occupies a large, historic home not far from major attractions. Very spacious bedrooms and common space with welcoming and most knowledgable host. Quiet. Lots of great books plus wifi. Off street parking. Delicious breakfast with great coffee.

Yelp
Suzanne and Al were delightful hosts. Aside from being two very interesting world citizens, they are also excellent innkeepers. The historical nature of the home ties in nicely with the historical nature of New Bedford itself. Additionally, they are easy to make local suggestions, for eateries, business contacts or historical tours. Thank you Guys, I truly enjoyed your company,

Yelp
I'm sitting IN the Orchard Street Manor writing this review on a bitterly cold New England evening in January. We are in the perfect accommodations for the Moby Dick Marathon that's taking place at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, which is a half mile away. I am in the sitting area of a suite of rooms, and I could not be happier with the place so far. We were greeted by the enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and very interesting host Al, who showed us around this historic property and made a great restaurant recommendation. I can't believe the size and the layout of the rooms we got. We are a group of four: my husband, my mom, and our 14 year old boy. As you can see, we are a diverse group and need our privacy and space. With the two bedrooms and the extra bonus of the sitting room, we all can find a place to be able to relax and not bug each other. You know how a hotel room can get mighty claustrophobic? No fear of that here. There is plenty of closet space, too. The whirlpool tub is yet another perk. I enjoyed that as we arrived, just in from the frosty cold. The old fashioned, hissing radiators are a big plus. It's quite comfortably warm in here despite large rooms and an old home. The location is great if you are exploring New Bedford and surrounding areas. A big thank you to Al and Suzanne for opening this lovely home as a B & B. New Bedford makes a great and unique New England getaway. Highly recommended.

Yelp
BRIDES BEWARE. I planned my stay with my mom and 7 bridesmaids for the night before our wedding ONE YEAR IN ADVANCE. It seemed like a perfect spot to get ready with the moms and maids. The home was previously owned by a ship captain, and it fit perfectly in with my nautical themed wedding (we were getting married at the New Bedford Whaling Museum). When I originally toured the bed and breakfast with the owner (I had only met with Suzanne), she was enthusiastic and absolutely lovely - so excited that we wanted to stay there and spoke of "loving weddings". We agreed on a price to rent all of the rooms for one night (Saturday night of Memorial Day), and to do the first look photos there at the bed and breakfast the next day. However, when we got there, Suzanne was nowhere to be found, and instead, was a man (I'm assuming her husband - he never introduced himself). In my 29 years, I have NEVER been spoken to the way that man spoke to me. Immediately when we got there, he yelled at us (as we carried in boxes and bags for the wedding) that we parked on the wrong side of the street. After moving our cars and getting inside, he immediately told me "Jennifer, we have a problem". He proceeded with a 5 minute tirade of "we never knew that you were staying here tomorrow for photos" and "you need to pay at least half a day more" (somewhere around $300) and "I have a meeting at noon in Boston and now I can't go" (who plans meetings on Sundays, especially during a holiday weekend?? aaaand the kicker "my grandson's one month birthday is tomorrow so this is terribly inconvenient of you do spring this on us" (who has a ONE MONTH BIRTHDAY? And why is a grandson that wasn't even conceived yet my problem? And furthermore, this wasn't "sprung" on them - it was planned early in May of 2013, and I got married 5/25/14). I can't even aptly describe his condescending words and tone. My biggest regret is not getting everything in writing when I booked the bed and breakfast. We paid the extra money, stayed there the night, got our photos done there (where Suzanne showed up, just as lovely, but I wasn't going to get into it on my wedding day), and WILL NEVER GO BACK. It's too bad, because honestly it's the perfect venue for anyone getting married at the whaling museum - it's clean, close, nautical, and perfect for photos :(
