Good location in the city and good service but that’s about it. They have the tiniest elevator ever you can barely fit one person with their luggage. Our hotel room was so small that we could barely open our luggage, and the room reeked of cigarette smoke. They claim to have AC but it did not work and was just a weak fan. Bathroom and bed were fine. Would recommend if you’re looking to save money while prioritizing location in the city, but I’m sure you could find something better nearby.

This hotel was perfect for our needs. The staff was friendly and helpful, our room was very clean, and the hotel is conveniently located near multiple metro stops. There was even a fridge in our rooms which was a bonus we were not expecting! I will stay there again!

Had a delightful stay here for four nights. From even before we arrived the staff could not have been more helpful. The bed was comfortable and the room spacious (we were upgraded to the junior suite) although the elevator was comically small - not a criticism, it was really cute! Hotel location was perfect for soaking up the Parisian atmosphere, in a lovely part of town, not too far from four metro stations (we found republic the easiest to get to). Breakfast was simple but plentiful.

This hotel was amazing for our stay and would definitely stay again. The neighborhood is so cute and walkable - tons of shops, restaurants, etc. all right outside the door of the hotel. The room was quiet even though it was on the street side, everyone that worked there was very kind and helpful, and the room was super clean and cute and the bed was very comfortable.

Overall, I really enjoyed this sweet, somewhat quirky, unique, charming little boutique hotel. When I first checked in, I was given a tiny little room with a tiny bathroom. Would have been rather uncomfortable to stay in for a week. So, I inquired about it at the front desk, and they graciously moved me the next day to a much larger room with three lovely windows looking out to the street. I stayed the week and really enjoyed my time exploring the area (Le Marais) and Paris, and then coming back to this charming hotel each afternoon. The breakfast served in the quaint lower level dining room was tasty and well-appointed. The staff was always friendly and helpful. I think the key with staying at this hotel is making sure you get the right room. If you look at the photos of the rooms, they are all very different. Some look even nicer than the larger room I was ultimately given. Some appear to have very nicely updated, modern bathrooms, while other bathrooms are older and a bit cramped. But this is the city of Paris! I'd much rather stay at a charming boutique hotel like this than a standard hotel that you could find in just about any city around the world. C'est magnifique!

The location of this hotel can’t be beat. Yes the rooms are quite small but the bed was really comfortable and there are so many things to be accessed within a short walk. I’d definitely stay here again, great value.

We should have looked for another hotel the moment we walked in. This boutique hotel had a great photographer so we felt okay about booking it on the website beforehand. After arrival at realized our rookie mistake. Yes the rooms are so small. This was expected because it’s Europe but other issues made our stay very uncomfortable. The room is under 2 feet wide on either side of a queen bed. You cannot completely open two full suitcases in the room. You can open one but won’t be able to go around it and you’re stuck in that spot until it’s zipped up and pushed to the side. The bathroom was fine but the towels were teeny and thin. There’s a large built in cabinet that takes up a big section of the room I had (on the main floor) with a desk that has no chair so it was unusable. Here is where the hotel and staff could’ve fixed some issues. As I was getting ready a 3x3 foot bathroom tile slid off the vanity and hit my shin. They had flimsily taped a massive tile to an under sink pipe that fell off and hit me. Meaning they knew this tile was not secured and used tape. Tape to hold it in place. Next, my room’s hairdryer did not work, which they were aware of and did not fix before we arrived nor did they fix during our visit. I had to go out and buy a hairdryer. I did not bring one from home because their listings specifically state that they provide hairdryers The tiny ancient TV never worked. Lastly, they claimed they have air-conditioning, which they do not. They have a vent fan. My nights were spent sweating. Another space issue: It was very difficult to use the 2‘ x 2 1/2‘ wide elevator during my stay, my very small stroller and I barely fit in. It’s extremely small. The breakfast is located in the basement and is very sparse. It made more sense to go out and buy breakfast.

Perfectly located, room is small but good and clean. The wardrobe is not great: not enough hangers and very little space. No toothbrush is given, just FYI. Heating wasn’t working on the day we arrived so the room was freezing, got fixed after but took a long time.Front desk service was so so, nothing too bad but not great. No bottled water was given after the first day, for the price you pay I think you should receive a fresh bottle every day. All in all ok but could be better.

Yelp
We recently stayed here for three nights and liked it a lot. We paid 250€ per night which was expensive but still a good price for Paris. The location in the 3rd Arrondismont in the Marais neighborhood of Paris was excellent. A Metro station was just a 5 minute walk away. The street perpendicular to the hotel has lots of great cafes, restaurants, and stores. It's also very close to the oldest food market in Paris. We felt safe walking around this neighborhood even late at night. Our room on the top floor, the 5th floor, was a good size and felt cozy because of the sloped ceilings. We did bang our heads a couple times but learned quickly to duck. The bed was really comfortable! The hotel provided a lot of extra blankets and pillows too. I felt right at home in our room. Everything was very clean in this hotel which I appreciate. I have a couple small complaints. The elevator was about the size of a coffin. I got claustrophobic in it. Also, there was no place to hang the shower head and no shower curtain so I flooded the bathroom floor. Everyone working here was helpful and polite. The breakfast was included in the price and it was a filling meal, with cold cuts, breads, cereals, yoghurt, applesauce, and coffee and juice.

Yelp
NYC and Paris have something in common when it comes to hotels....there are plenty of them. However, there are plenty of shitty hotels in both cities. Most of us have heard the horror of tiny and dirty hotel rooms. As much as i find myself in Paris, I don't usually stay at hotels. It has mostly been renting a studio or apartment. However, this one time I find myself renting a hotel due to a last minute arrangement. Located the hip Marais area, Hotel du Vieux Saule has a convenient location. It is within a stone's throw from the Marche des Enfants Rouges, Square du temple, and walking distance to the Temple metro station. The rooms are small, but that is not unusual in Paris. However, the upgraded rooms are large enough to move freely. My favorite is the large bathroom with skylights (I was on the top floor), which was beautiful to look at while taking a bath. Breakfast is standard - assortment of pastries, cured meats, eggs, and coffees. Service is prompt and attentive...the front desk recommended nice places to eat nearby. The best of all....my favorite Algerian restaurant in Paris (Chez Omar) is less than a block away. The eateries in the Marche des Enfants Rouges are quite delightful as well, particularly Le Traiteur Marocain - the family-run Moroccan eatery. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a clean, reasonably priced, and conveniently located hotel in Paris.

Yelp
American Travelers - be forewarned that if you are looking for large spacious accommodations, this place is not for you! Now I had a great stay at the Vieux Saule. The staff was excellent, the Hotel was clean and in a great location. There are great restaurants nearby and the subway is less than 10 minutes away. I was a little disappointed with breakfast and I thought breakfast was included...I know it is the American in me but scrambled eggs would have been great versus the hard boiled eggs. Everyone I met in the Hotel were either American, English or German which was nice as well. Very friendly people. I would definitely stay here again.
