Yelp
BOTTOM LINE: BEST & MOST ACCOMMODATING CUSTOMER SERVICE!
If you ask me to describe every great thing I/we experienced about The Osprey, I could quite possible blow your mind. However, I will spare you the dura matter splatter so that you could experience it yourself when you visit The Osprey...I'm sure the staff will gladly help you clean-up :-)
Let me summarize (sadly) my TOP 5 Pros and Cons:
1) Employees - unpretentious, always smiling, warm (-blooded). Yes folks, these people most definitely human--the kind that hold real conversations, make you laugh till you snort, and don't scavenge for tips by judging who is well-to-do and who is not. The service is not as forced or harried. They are simple people who are just great at what they do, whether it's ski/snowboard valet or reminding you to hydrate before you leave for a day on the slopes.
2) Atmosphere - If you expect an upturned nose and curtsies acknowledging your royal highness, stay at the Ritz Carlton down the hill. If you just want casual relaxation where a cup of hot cocoa and lounging in slippers at the fireside restaurant table apres ski is enough, this is your place. The decor is modern and cozy.
3) Amenities - The Osprey is a small boutique hotel. The accommodations are modern, but they only have 47 rooms. I guess this adds to the warmth that I love about this place. I'm not saying it's exclusive, but it definitely fills up fast. They have a small pool, a coed sauna, jacuzzi outdoors, and a fitness center but who really uses these facilities when the slopes are literally at your doorstep...which brings me to their BEST amenity. Strawberry Park Express Lift is only 10 steps away from the ski/snowboard valet's door. Centennial Express is also a 3 minute walk from the hotel.
4) Food and Bar - Although the actual 'restaurant' only seats around 20 people at best, the food is amazing and on par with places like Volt, Babbo, Passionfish, Brasserie Les Halles, etc. The serve lunch, apres ski, and dinner daily, but you sometimes need reservations for dinner during peak hours. They offer a tapas-style selection or entree portions, but the tapas are absolutely awesome for sharing and socializing. They also wowed me by their commitment to sustainable and local ingredients, which encompass most of the menu. We had the following delectable delights:
DINNER
+Ribeye with buttery polenta
+Brussel spouts with asiago cheese
+Shrimp with creamy grits
+Spinach salad with lemon ceasar dressing
+Truffled french fries
+Freshly fried tortilla chips with fire roasted salsa and avocado relish
+Diver scallops with pork belly
DRINKS (they use 'Freshies', a local mix in all their drinks, AMAziNG!)
+Spicy bloody mary (yum)
+Don Julio margarita
+JW Black Label sidecar
+Local Oatmeal Stout
5) Lastly, I do have to end with something slightly negative to give a fair review. This resort is frequented by patrons with families. For the most part, we were one of only a few couples vacationing here. The walls are not well-insulated from noise, so every morning we would wake up to children bouncing off the walls and running down the hallways. Most people are generally awake by 6:30 to get breakfast and hit the slopes by 8:30, so if you like to sleep in, this might not be the place for you. But, who likes to sleep in when the snow is fluffly and the mountain is beckoning you to carve it?
Happy Skiing/Snowbooarding and enjoy the Osprey!
