The Overlook at Cleary Summit

Its a bit of a conundrum, I don’t want to inform more people about this place and make the already limited availability worse for when I inevitably visit again, but at the same time this is one of the most interesting and relaxing stays I have had in a long time. The location is phenomenal with amazing views. Even though we didn’t get to see the aurora because of a nasty snow storm, the quiet and serenity made it worth it regardless. The cabins were cozy, always warm, and somehow always had hot water. Wifi was good for the location, and parking was no issue. The employees were attentive to our questions, kind and helpful from check in to check out. This place is a fantastic, and I can’t wait for my next visit here.

I had the best experience ever here and saw aurora without leaving my room and on my bed between 1:30-3:00pm almost nonstop!! The house is clean and the wood wall and floor seems brand new and high quality. The transportation arranged by the host fits my need perfectly and although I changed time of my trip owner still helps to coordinate and arrange!! We had breakfast from host’s co-worker and the toast is delicious! I left my stuff at the cabin and owner finds someone to ship back to me at Fairbanks! I had a very good time staying here!

Staying here was an unforgettable experience! It was our first night in Fairbanks and we weren't ready for -30 degrees! Watching the lights from a cozy bed was incredible. Since the aurora comes and goes, the host texted us when the lights were out just to be sure we spotted them. We also got the rare treat of seeing a research rocket (GNEISS) launch into the lights to study their electrical currents! Truly, a space nerd's dream. The host was so friendly and made us delicious homemade breakfast in the morning. It's definitely worth splashing out on a night here if you're able to!

Stayed in the glass cabin on the hill and it was amazing. Everything felt new and thoughtfully set up. There’s a full kitchen and they even provide breakfast — the North Pole coffee in the morning was great. The partner who picked us up was incredibly warm and welcoming, and we felt so lucky to be able to stay here. The dog on the property is super sweet and well-behaved. The bed was the highlight — adjustable, with a massage feature, and unbelievably comfortable. We literally watched the northern lights while lying in bed. It was romantic and unforgettable. The aurora on the hilltop was stunning. Would absolutely stay here again.

Magical… so wonderful… The cabins are so thoughtfully designed with every comfort taken into consideration. Cozy yet luxurious experience. Really lovely waking up to the view, quiet, air.. Also ofc the unparalleled aurora viewing experience right from your bed/balcony. The team is incredible!! 11/10 hospitality. They’re so kind, thoughtful, and thorough. Absolutely amazing experience at the Overlook! Tte rooms are warm and cozy and the panoramic view of the valley and the sky is out of this world. The service is also outstanding with Naomi whipping up yummy breakfasts fresh every day! We were able to see the aurora from the comfort of the room!

Best location and view ever! The room was spotless and had a wonderful, cozy layout! We can also adjust the bed to sit up and look right at the stars. We even so lucky that see the aurora directly from our windows! Breakfast was also healthy and delicious. Highly recommend!

Perfect place and perfect location! We sought to see the aurora borealis and did, but the view of the stars alone, made it magical. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. A 5-star cabin experience! Lei and Kyle made us feel at home. An unforgettable vacation.

spent three wonderful evenings here. Off-season stay and selected site for proximity to our road trips to Circle and Manley Hot Springs. Almost 20 miles to Fairbanks so you need to bring your own food. This is a purpose built unit for Aurora viewing so the summer sunset and sunrise are in the north and tends to heat the unit. Curtains keep the sun out of our eyes. We were there when temperatures were 70 F or below so leaving doors open with mosquito netting in place kept unit comfortable in the night. Construction during day did not bother us. In our over 600 miles of driving we only saw a few other people. Definitely not a popular destination. Excellent kitchen facility in separate building.
