Enjoyed lunch with 2 other guest. Had the chicken club sandwich with brussell sprouts. Chicken was very juicy and sprouts were delicious with a bit of char. Other guest enjoyed their shrimp salad and burger and fries. Service: Server was excellent and exceeded expectations . Overall good place for a nice meal in Baton Rouge. Parking: is under the overpass as the name states and may be a bit confusing when you pull in, is an open lot style so park as needed under the bridge pillars. Handicap spots are close to the building and they do have ramp access. Outside seating is available but we chose to eat indoors.

So very impressed by this place! I am always weary when restaurants claim to be farm to table places. All of this food was so delicious and FRESH! Even my picky eater loved it. Highly recommend the cauliflower & broccoli. When ordered to go the next day (working here from out of town) and it was STILL delicious. Drum tacos have amazing flavors. Burgers are divine. Chicken club delicious! Grouper sandwich on point! Will definitely recommend to everyone. Thank you for a surprisingly great experience.

Google
The food was OK with a menu that isn’t full of random stuff. Pretty straight at the point. We ordered the burgers and the cheese curds. The cheese curds were mid, but the burger was tasty. The only thing I didn’t like about the place was that the tables are too close to each other. We heard everything that people next to us were taking about. Also the parking is limited. You have to park under the bridge or something. But it’s still a decent spot close to campus so there’s that.

RES RES

Google
We walked in and were blown away by the atmosphere. It was lovely inside. Our server was prompt and attentive and friendly. Good drinks. Cheese curds were very, very good. The main brunch dishes were all subpar with the exception of the kale caesar salad, which was very good and a good serving size for a side. The honey butter chicken biscuit was flavorless: the chicken was dry and had zero flavor, and the biscuit was underbaked and mushy. It needs more ingredients to make it saucy and full of flavor and texture. Shrimp and grits were swimming in sauce that was too strong of a vinegar flavor and the grits were very hard. The breakfast burrito was inedible due to the fatty chunks of bacon and the carmelized onions - they were sickly sweet like marmalade but also smelled really bad like sauerkraut - nothing resembling onions. The standard breakfast plate was fine, but again the grits were rock hard so weren't eaten. The hashbrowns were boring and flavorless. It was very disappointing because the atmosphere was so amazing. The bar area would be great to return to for a drink and cheesecurds, but we wouldn't come back for a meal.

Google
Atmosphere is great and food was good. But the service was not very efficiently managed. We got our drinks after ~30 minutes of ordering them (too late even for a busy weekend, and there was another mixup. Cheese curds were amazing.

Google
My husband, family friends, and I stopped in at this place while heading to NOLA/Taylor Swift concert. What an awesome place! If you are looking for a very cute spot with great food this is the place! I ordered a burger it was so delicious! Our server was very nice and easy going! I would totally go back to this place if I am in the area! The bathroom had awesome wall art!

Google
My friends and I sat on the patio, which worked out great for us (a party of 5). Our servers were great! They were friendly and attentive. The appetizers were amazing! The Tempura Fried Green Beans and Brussel Sprouts are a must!! The drinks were delicious! I didn't particularly care for the Chicken Pasta. It was bland in taste. However, our overall experience was fantastic!

Shawn

Google
The food was ex exceptional. It is pricey for lunch, but worth it.

Yelp
The sweetest restaurant The cooks and staff welcomed us with open arms and they welcomed my husbands food allergies with no complaints They came to our table talked with us an made sure that they cooked for him something he could eat They will always have our support Highly Recommend Thank you Overpass Merchants

Brandy H.

Yelp
I have been following Overpass Merchant for sometime on Instagram and it finally worked out for me and a friend to make it here for lunch. We started lunch with an app of Cheese Curds. It was my first time trying Cheese Curds but my friend had them before and she said they were great, I agreed. Being that it was a Wednesday we took advantage of the taco special; I got the fish and she got the pork. They were both on point (and we know our tacos )! Service was friendly, professional, and quick. Loved the ambiance and super cool decor. I will be back next time I'm in BR!

Alex L.

Yelp
Had a group of 8 teens for homecoming plus another table of 3 adults. The teens server was great. Our server, not so much. She forgot a couple items we ordered and was very aloof. We feel like she may have been on something. Menu was a bit odd but everything we had was good.

Sophia A.

Yelp
I was able to come back again for brunch and it was absolutely delicious. No brunch would be complete without their orange juice.

Michelle P.

Yelp
A quirky location, fun vibe, and easy parking. Great selection of beverages and tasty meals. Very small inside so easier to try during slightly "off" hours.

Sean T.

Yelp
I stopped by the Overpass Merchant in Baton Rouge and had the Grouper sandwich. This cool little dive spot, tucked away just off the highway, definitely has a unique charm. The freshness of the food was a solid 10 out of 10--no complaints there. However, parking can be a bit confusing, especially for a first-timer, and I can only imagine how tricky it gets when the place is busy. While the atmosphere and food were good, it just didn't quite hit the bullseye for me. Overall, it's a solid spot with a lot to offer, but there's room for improvement.

Tamika B.

Yelp
Brennan provided excellent customer service and the food was delicious!! The restaurant is clean and we didn't have to wait long to be seated.

Sadie E.

Yelp
Cute little restaurant with a charming atmosphere. Our waitress was incredibly friendly, adding to the pleasant experience. It was quite loud inside, which made conversation a bit difficult. The food came out in a reasonable time. The fried green beans weren't to my taste, but I can see how it can be a fan favorite for others. The burger was delicious and perfectly cooked. However, the French fries were overcooked for my liking. Overall, a decent spot for a meal with good service.

Cristen M.

Yelp
Great lunch spot! Passing through on our way from Metairie to Lake Charles and stopped here. We were delighted to find this pet friendly place. We had the hot chicken sandwich and Cowboy Cobb- both were fantastic! The menu had lots of tasty sounding options so we'll definitely be back. The food was fresh and well prepared and the service was impeccable.

Bradley A.

Yelp
This place has really surprised me. Solid burger and fries. The grouper sandwich is fantastic. Specials on Wednesday night--tacos and a really good $8 margarita. Parking is a challenge. But good food choices for a decent price. Cozy atmosphere. Give it a try.

Nandi A.

Yelp
Great food and I definitely want to come back to try their dinner menu, as it has more options. I ordered the chicken sandwich, added avocado, and a side of truffle fries which is an extra cost. I was afraid the chicken might be too greasy, but it was perfectly fried. The fries tasted homemade. The aoili was a little bland in my opinion but it could just be preference. The service was also extremely fast to say they had a full house and it was Sunday brunch time. The restaurant is fairly quaint so be mindful if you're arriving with a large party during a busy time.

Maribeth T.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch on way home from spring break. Totally agree with the reviews. This place is amazing. Our waitress was so attentive and the food was absolutely delish! Will definitely be back! Highly recommend the cheese curd, club sandwich, & burger.

Scarlett E.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch & were seated immediately. Ordered the fried grouper sandwich and chicken fried chicken daily special. The grouper sandwich had so much flavor! I really enjoyed it. Took half home. The fries came out cold and kinda stale. My husband didn't really like the gravy on top of his chicken so I would recommend asking for that in the side just in case. He is a little picky eater. He did love the green beans. The servers were all really sweet and attentive. The only downside is this is a small, very busy area and the tables are really close so everyone's conversations were hard to block out. I'd love to try more because obviously this is local fav.

Destiny _.

Yelp
Menu was easy to pick from which made picking a dish easier. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, 8/10 it wasn't spicy at all but the flavor as a whole was good and filling. The service was quick, very nice staff. The space was small but not over crowded.

Peyton F.

Yelp
Our server was very knowledgeable and funny. I LOVEEEE the rolls, so fresh and delicious. I loved the tacos! The fries were a bit greasy but great flavor.

Kelsey M.

Yelp
I won't lie my first impression of this place was "is it even open?" I couldn't see the title of the restaurant from across the street looking at it. The only markings on the building read 'S.SCIMECA' which was not the name of the restaurant, so it threw me off BUT we decided this had to be it, so we drove across to a VERY rough parking area under the overpass, filled with crater sized holes (or lakes ). To my knowledge this was the only parking for the restaurant, and I highly recommend not wearing your favorite white pair of shoes parking here because it was ROUGH to say the least! Once we walk into the restaurant, it was absolutely lovely. Cute, cozy, artsy, rustic, classy all tied into one. Then I noticed how many people they had on staff, it seemed like a lot for how small the restaurant was, which was a good sign to me. The staff also seemed to be enjoying their time, smiling, greeting, consistently checking in on their tables. I love to see people who aren't miserable when working, it's refreshing to see. The food was very good all around. We came for brunch and I got the breakfast burrito, which although was very good, it was a tad bit spicy for me (it does say it has a spicy sauce on it on the menu, I just never know how spicy something truly is until you try it), but next time I'm sure I can ask for it on the side, very good still. My husband got 'The Burger' and said it was very delicious, the fries were almost like 5 guys fries but better, crispier. The Bloody Mary we tried was unfortunately not our favorite, it tasted like chili, like a bowl of steaming hot chili, which just wasn't what we were expecting and didn't love it BUT maybe you or someone else does or will love that, and to that I say cheers (but I'll stick with a mimosa next time). Overall, awesome restaurant, great staff, and good food. Truly enjoyed eating here and will be back!

Sarah W.

Yelp
I love this place so much. It is such a fun, casual and lively atmosphere. The burger is so great. Pretty simple - you just build it how you want and it's always great. The truffle fries are awesome and I always get ranch with them bc it's homemade and so good! For an app you can't go wrong with the fried green beans (better than PF Chang's!) that come with a yummy Korean ranch. I love coming here after running the lakes nearby or something like that. Burger and fries here always hits the spot! Also I bring my pup often and sit outside and it's perfect for him - they always bring him water and are very friendly!

Anthony Y.

Yelp
Overpass Merchant is my favorite gastropub in the area by far. They have the best Burger in town, hands down. As the name indicates, the restaurant is located underneath the overpass, which provides plenty of parking. Don't misunderstand; this is not a shady, seedy eatery. The front of the restaurant is well-lit and inviting. You enter to great music and great vibes. The eating space fills up fast due to its popularity. The menu is focused on small fare and daily specials that pack huge flavors. There is always an added special of the day on the chalkboard. The menu does rotate. Outside seating can be loud due to traffic, depending on what time of day you go, so I recommend eating inside. The staff is always polite and attentive. The team knows beers; they will set you up with great pairings. I like the local favorites like Holy Roller, Gnarley Barley Jucifer, and Abita Purple Haze. Overpass does offer a unique cocktail menu as well. The Camp Water, Electric Relaxation, and their house frozen blueberry mint margarita are terrific. The chicken sandwich and Grouper Sandwich (grilled or fried) are killer but the showstopper, of course, is "The Burger". It is fantastic and makes the pub a true standout for me. The blend they use for the Burger, chuck, brisket, and short rib is terrific. The Burger with the truffle fries is award-winning. One of the fun things they do is the trivia nights. If you have a sweet tooth, the offer Gail's Fine ice cream! Overpass Merchant is a unique experience you should try if you want to have a quick bite or enjoy a date night out.

Tori C.

Yelp
Had the honey chicken cheese biscuit with hashbrowns on the side for Sunday brunch. It's not a huge place, and it gets noisy quickly so prepare for that. The wait staff rushes around you, but within all the chaos is good food! I didn't enjoy my margarita, and it was sent back w/o charge which was nice. Definitely will be back for dinner and brunch again!

Brian V.

Yelp
Really cool spot for brunch. Great crowd and excellent service. Biscuits and avocado toast are excellent. Seems like it would be loud inside due to the location, but we could not hear a sound. I would like to go back for lunch. Recommended highly

Josh M.

Yelp
I'll start with some positives: Overpass Merchant has a great atmosphere, an awesome chicken sandwich and a pretty good burger. I've been several times and everything was great. However, this last visit was a huge disappointment. I'm hoping this is not the new norm for this place! First, our chicken biscuits were very burned on the bottom, and the kitchen still served them to us that way anyway. Second, our shrimp and grits were not good. They tasted like spicy tomato sauce mixed with vinegar. Worst shrimp and grits I've ever had. Finally, the bread pudding was also very burned. I'm hesitant to come back here if this is the way they do things now. Hopefully Overpass can win me back one day, I really like that chicken sandwich....

Vera G.

Yelp
Food was phenomenal. Service was a tad slow and drinks were subpar. But would come here again for food and a beer!

Rachel M.

Yelp
Ordered Brunch Takeout. We had the BEC Biscuit and the Honey Chicken biscuit. Bother were delicious which is hard to accomplish for takeout. They were very kind and helpful taking our order too.

Hong-an T.

Yelp
The food here was so insanely good! The decor was absolutely stunning and I would love to go here for a dress up brunch! I got the fried chicken sandwich and it did not disappoint at all! I loved that you could make the fries truffle fries too. The service was quick.

Kyleigh L.

Yelp
This was my second time eating here, and they didn't disappoint once again! The food came out fresh and quick. The service was good and welcoming. I love the environment. It is smaller compared to other restaurants, but it is still very nice. There is also outdoor seating available. We got the truffle frites, kale caesar salad, and the return of the hot chicken. We almost finished everything. We enjoyed it all and will continue to come here.

Shawn C.

Yelp
Solid service at a pretty busy lunch hour. Good drink selection and waiter was nice a friendly. Apps and entrees came out on time and were fresh and hot. Fun atmosphere and ambience.

Christie D.

Yelp
The Overpass Merchant never disappoints! I've been craving a good burger and the burger here hit the spot! I'm going to say it was the best burger I've had in a very long time. The meat was super moist and seasoned well with an amazing flavor. The burger is a house blend of chuck, brisket, and short rib. The bun was also super fresh. Instead of getting the fries with my burger, I ordered the tempura fried green beans. These green beans are on the appetizer menu so I was excited to find out that I could still get them with my burger instead of the fries. These were so, so good! They came with a Korean ranch sauce which paired perfectly with them. This entire meal was absolutely delicious! I'm already planning to order the exact same thing the next time I dine here. My cocktail was also very good. I got the frozen blueberry mint merch margarita. If you like mint, then you'll love this drink. This drink was a summer special that is now permanently on their menu. As always, service was great and the vibe was laid back. Just be prepared that parking can sometimes be an issue here.

Robert R.

Yelp
First off this place is a really cool vibe. The bar has a great set up and the bartender makes amazing cocktails. My appetizer was fantastic. I had the spicy crispy broccoli and cauliflower. For dinner I had the cheeseburger and truffle fries. The cheeseburger was extremely under seasoned but cooked well and the trouble fries were soggy, but flavorful. I will definitely be back for another try and just will order something different again. What a cool spot and great drinks.

Alexis J.

Yelp
Fries and fries green beans were so good! Loved the sauce that came with each. Just went for cocktails and apps but dinner options are always yummy.

Anna V.

Yelp
Can't go wrong with the cheese curds and the drinks! Love this spot. We went for breakfast recently which was pretty good but I much prefer the lunch and dinner menus. I've had some great salads here. Will post pics next time I go! Service is always fast and friendly. Love the vibe here too. Really cute decor inside.

Alaina D.

Yelp
Such a great place for drinks and appetizers/small plates! I always have my GNOs start out here. Tuesdays they have a special on the burgers and a cocktail! The happy hour from 3-6 pm is good too. The drinks are always spot on and the food never disappoints! Tonight I got the Prague Ghost, and it was delicious. For a small plate, I got the Chili Cauliflower and Broccoli. The sauce was a little too spicy for me, but it definitely added the 'umph' to make the dish great! The small plates always fill me up, they are pretty big portions. But, if you are really hungry, get the fried chicken sandwich. It is amazing, and it is one of my favorites by far... perfectly breaded and melts in my mouth! Staff is always friendly and never have waited to long on drinks or food to come out to the table! The place is always buzzing with people, so it depends on what day you go for how long you will wait for a table. I personally have never waited for a table though because there is patio/outdoor seating, which I always take... it is a little loud right next to the overpass (obvi) but it beats waiting for a table inside!

Lubin ..

Yelp
I ordered the coconut shrimp taco. It was great. The canebrake beer was great too. It is classic wheat ale.

Sarah S.

Yelp
This food, ambiance, and service were absolutely amazing! It was our first time and I highly recommend! The margaritas are strong for the size which is good (: We got the cheese curds, chicken club, burger and truffle fries! Seriously one of the best meals I've had!

Starr S.

Yelp
For starters the food was absouletley horrible. They came out without my cheese burger and charged me extra for a new one!!. 2/10 DON'T RECOMMEND

Terrance F.

Yelp
Nice lil spot to have lunch. The food was good and we didn't have to wait and was seated promptly. Waitress was very nice and kind.

Nikki F.

Yelp
Cute, quaint place. I made reservations on Open Table. I booked for 11:15 and am glad I did because they were pretty packed when we were leaving at 12:30 ish. I didn't really see too much that I thought I would like on the menu, so I went with the burger. I enjoyed it. The bread was soft and sweet. The fries were ok. Now the parking is HORRIBLE! There are so many potholes under the interstate. Please avoid parking there. I scraped the bottom of my vehicle. Thank God I didn't burst anything. If I return I will definitely park somewhere else.

Emily R.

Yelp
This place has the BEST burgers and pastas ever! So friggin flavorful. A little pricey considering it doesn't come with a side, but good for the days that I can afford to splurge. Service is usually good even when it's busy, and the ambiance is beautiful inside and outside the restaurant. Such a homey feel to it. Top 3 restaurants in BR.

Marigny L.

Yelp
Checked out The Overpass Merchant for dinner for the first time and loved it! Great service and a great menu. I ordered the Cold Brew-tini which is a new addition to their cocktail menu, and it was decent, but I do think it would be better with some Bailey's added to make it creamer. Also, a nice coffee bean garnish would elevate this cocktail! The pork belly steak buns were delicious! I also LOVED the brussel sprout appetizer & the fried chicken hummus was a special, and I loved it as well. Definitely recommend this place & make a reservation for a weekend night!

Tom G.

Yelp
Pretty interesting place. It's dog friendly, so we ate outside with our two pups. Didn't go inside at all. The service was pretty good. We had a fried oyster sandwich and fried catfish sandwich with brussel sprouts. The sandwiches were just ok, the brussel sprouts were very good. Pricing seemed a bit high. We obviously knew this place was under an overpass, but the noise was deafening. Parking was under the overpass and there were many very deep large potholes there. We were in a large vehicle so made it through just OK, but don't try it with a low vehicle! Overall, I think I'd skip this place.

Darren H.

Yelp
What are truffle fries? I have no idea but they're delicious. Make sure you have some when you meet your friends here for lunch. I've been to The Overpass Merchant several times since it opened in the area and have never been disappointed.

Andre S.

Yelp
Wife and I went for dinner and a drink on a Friday night we were seated promptly and waitress came right over to greet us etc. I got the starry eye mezcal cocktail which for $11 it was great! My wife got a dirty martini and it was also great. Now to the food.....my wife got the cowboy Cobb and the dressing tasted like straight mayo it was literally disgusting and non edible the grilled chicken tasted so bland. I got their Korean beef Philly which had absolutely zero seasoning on the meat but with cheese and onions on top. Imagine eating beef with no seasoning nothing on it completely nasty. I really don't understand how you can have such a condensed menu and not properly execute each and every menu item. Maybe another pair of eyes need to be in the kitchen idk but something needs to be done.

Deb M.

Yelp
I became aware of this unusual restaurant while using the BringFido App that shows dog friendly restaurants wherever you may be. It sounded intriguing, so we decided to try it. First, the parking lot is very small and even when there wasn't a lot of people at the restaurant, we ended up creating our own parking, along with a few others, under the overpass. It had rained, so it was a bit of a challenge to hop around all the mud puddles. Initially, by all appearances from the outside, we thought it was going to be a dump. It isn't! As per its name, the restaurant is located right at the edge of an I-10 overpass. Keep in mind, we had our two pups with us, so we did not have the option of eating inside, where the noise is not too bad. The patio had comfortable seating, but the noise from the overpass was definitely more than what we had expected! Don't plan on a nice quiet meal outside at this appropriately named restaurant. Inside, yes! Outside NO! Although our waitress was very friendly and sweet to our doggos, I think we were forgotten after we were seated and provided with menus. Then, again, after we finished eating. Both times, we had to go into the restaurant to let them know we were ready to order and when we were ready for our bill. The food was good and priced at an average restaurant rate. My husband ordered the hamburger with swiss cheese and said it was a decent burger. He really enjoyed his fries, as did the pupitos! I ordered the panini grilled cheese with tomato bisque soup. I would order it again as it was tasty. I did have a need for their restroom. It was itty bitty. Perfect for a quick tinkle, but they were out of paper towels. There were no more than 3 tables with customers, so, I would think a quick peek into the restrooms was plausible, but yet, not accomplished. If we were in the area again, without our pups, I would visit them again so I could try some of the many interesting items they have on their menu.

Michael B.

Yelp
3rd time fooled me again. I don't know what it is, but this place just isn't the same anymore. Brunch is not good...they overcook everything. They skimp and overcook the cheese curds to the point there is no cheese left inside. They could not cook a biscuit if a recipe was right in front of them nothing but nasty and dry. Get your act together Merchant or you will continue to lose customer after customer. I promise you I'm not the only one.

Elenora B.

Yelp
Ever since I started living in BR, I've always heard great things about this place and had been dying to try. I'm so glad that I finally got to go last month! The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the fun and cute atmosphere. The hanging lights and decorations were precious. Next was our waitress's patience. We took a pretty long time to order because I was catching up with friends and she was so understandable. When we finally ordered, we got the sourdough rolls to share. I thought they tasted good, but they were a bit dense and dry and could've used a sauce or butter on them. I ordered the interstate love song cocktail and the chicken club sandwich. That cocktail is by far my favorite one that I've had and I don't like to order cocktails often! The sandwich I had was so incredibly delicious - every aspect of it was perfect and it was HUGE. Their truffle fries I added on the side with their aioli were simply to die for. Just an overall great experience, I will be back for sure to try more cocktails and entrees and for some of their themed nights like their trivia!

Eric C.

Yelp
Visiting my daughter at LSU, found it by chance. Worth the visit for sure. Service was good and food was better.

Grant S.

Yelp
Overpass Merchant's brunch offers strong, wallet-friendly drinks but falls short with overpriced, undercooked food. Service is mediocre and the staff often appears stressed. While the drinks might tempt some, the overall experience leaves much to be desired. They're under the bridge for a reason.

Brian J.

Yelp
Out of towners here. Just came in to Baton Rouge and found this gem. Great service, warm and fresh food and wonderful desserts mean we're coming back again!

Jeremy T.

Yelp
Interesting place as you pull up, you'll immediately notice the building is next to the I-10 overpass, and the parking lot is basically under the freeway. This could be bad during the rains. The front porch is even built around a billboard. I was expecting a dive, but its actually a hip, classy and modern interior. I sat in the bar area off to your right as you walk in. I ordered the prague ghost cocktail, cool name and a very well made, smooth drink. Unfortunately, since it's small and smooth, it goes down quickly. Also ordered "the burger", it's a burger made with brisket, chuck, and short rib. I added cheddar and red onion jam. You can choose how you want it cooked, so I went with my usual, medium rare. As my side, I chose their brussel sprouts. The burger comes with lettuce, tomato, and red onion, so I got a double dose of onions. The patty is thick but machine-formed. It was cooked a perfect medium rare. I asked for mayo to spread on my bun. Pretty tasty burger. The brussel sprouts were really good and have an addicting glaze.

Samantha N.

Yelp
Came in here for dinner. It was too noisy under the overpass for outdoor seating in my opinion so I decided to head inside. Hostess seemed a little peeved that I couldn't decide where I wanted seating. We did get greeted by a friendly waitress who took our orders quickly though. My friend ended up having a hair on her drink as well as in another dish she consumed while my dishes were sparred. We had the fried greens beans with the peanut sauce which i absolutely loved!! My zoodles were rather spicy and fresh. The Parmesan fries could stand to be more crispy but had great flavor!! I'm not opposed to coming back but the hairy accoutrements to our meals need to be left out.
