The Owl Bar is a bar next to the general store at Sundance Resort. It's easy to get to from the front area and parking here is ok depending on how busy the resort is. It's got an old west theme to it inside, with about 2 dozen tables mixed between inside and outside. Their menu isn't massive but they do have some delicious things on there like the nachos, however the price per portion is a bit high (but that's a resort for you). The service is great with bartenders like Andrew and Sage, with everything coming out at a good pace and tasty drinks made. Overall it's a cool spot to grab a drink or some food.

🌟 This place is an absolute gem! 🌟 The food is nothing short of amazing—every bite is bursting with flavor and clearly made with care. The drinks? Perfection. From expertly crafted cocktails to refreshing non-alcoholic options, there’s something for everyone. And let’s talk about the atmosphere—it’s absolutely incredible! Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to unwind or a vibrant vibe for a night out, this place delivers. Highly recommend for anyone seeking great food, fantastic drinks, and an unforgettable experience!

We went to Sundance on a whim, having never eaten there and having heard good things. We were going to get into one of the other restaurants initially, as it was our anniversary, but the wait times workout a reservation we're long. So we went into the Owl Bar and ended up being glad we did. Another reviewer mentioned the burger, so we got that with the extra avocado & bacon option, and split that along with a plate of the Dirty Fries (plenty of food for the two of us). And wow! I had only taken a few bites before telling my husband I would be fantasizing about the burger later. It was one of the best I've ever had, and the fries were amazing. Our server was kind and gracious. It was a little warm when we were there for outside seating so we were inside, which is atmospheric, but misses the mountain beauty. Can't lose either way. We will definitely be back for a repeat of the same.

We had such an incredible experience at the Owl Bar thanks to Olivia! She was absolutely amazing, so personable, attentive, and easy to talk to. She made us feel genuinely welcomed and added such a fun, warm energy to our evening. You can tell she cares about the guests and takes pride in what she does. Olivia truly made our visit memorable, and we’ll definitely be back because of her. Thank you, Olivia!

I have only previously had the pleasure to visit the Sundance area during the winter season to enjoy dinner at The Tree Room, but I had not yet had the opportunity to visit during the summer! After this recent visit, I plan to come here much more frequently during the summer! My husband and I had just finished hike and were actually heading to The Foundry Grill when we had realized The Owl Bar was already open. The bar is all open seating, including the outside, so we took a chance and were able to find some seating in the shade which was great! The outdoor patio was so peaceful and the scenery around was absolutely beautiful. We ordered a couple appetizers and some drinks which all turned out great! I did ask our waitress a couple strange questions, like if they made the prickly pear juice in house or if it's a purchased syrup, so kudos to her for being so kind to my strangeness, hahaha. I did still go ahead and order the Prickly Pip and my worry was confirmed (the syrup was a bit heavy on the sweetness), but the other elements of the drink helped to balance that out a bit. I also ordered just a classic Lime Margarita, and that drink was executed very well! Very refreshing in the summer heat. As for our appetizers, we noticed that many people had ordered the Nachos, so we did as well. Nachos are one of my favorite staple appetizers, and I loved these ones especially. Good distribution of the toppings and I also really enjoyed the black beans were partially mashed! The star of our whole meal had to have been the Fried Pickles!! I decided last minute that we would grab an order of the Fried Pickles, and I can confidently say that it would have been a mistake if we did not!! The breading on the pickle was so light and simultaneously had a slight crunch to it. Quite possibly the best fried pickle that I have ever consumed. Also, the chipotle aioli dipping sauce was incredible. It had a nice spice to it and wasn't so heavy that it would take away from the bright flavor of the pickle; the two paired together was so complimentary. Overall, I am so glad we stumbled into the bar so we could enjoy this meal! Would very much recommend visiting during the summer (I bet even late summer and early fall would be outstanding). Cannot wait to return!!

Great stop before enjoying the Bluebird Cafe Concert. Nachos are a great shareable plate. Tasty drinks to get the buzz started. Ike was amazing taking care of our party of 8 out on the deck.

I've been there a couple of times and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The most recent visit we sat outside and it made the whole evening amazing. The weather was perfect and such pretty surroundings. The pretzel was fun to try and the burger when garlic fries were yummy. The bacon jam is so different but good.

The Owl Bar is by far my favorite little spot for a drink in Provo! We had a yummy dinner there. The staff are so sweet and were happy to accommodate my gluten/dairy free restrictions. I ordered the Jimmy Buffets revenge (so tasty) to drink and the chicken burger (GF bun) and a side salad. I love the ambiance here and I make an effort to come up here every time I’m in town visiting. Worth the trip up Provo Canyon!

Yelp
Got over a decade I've had the joy of meeting my friend who CC lives in Draper to attend The Sundance Film Festival. Our yearly tradition prior to Covid was a movie at the Sundance resort and a meal either drinks at The Owl Bar. Covid interrupted this tradition. This year I returned however I caught Covid early in the festival. And sadly there were no movie screening at this, my favorite location. Once I made it through Covid, we made our way to the Owl Bar and I'm very happy to say, new management has left it virtually untouched. (There is development going on on the property but so far, no real effect). This location is still cozy and romantic. It began to snow as we got closer to the resort which only added to the experience. When you pull up you are greeted by the foot of the ski mountain. Log cabin like buildings line the path through nature to the general store. The Owl Bar is located to the left. There are two other wonderful restaurants and a coffee bar as well. Entering the owl bar you are greeted by a saddle and the walls are adorned with stills from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, pan oldie but goodie movie - must see. Staff is casually friendly. It's intimate with room for a bar and loungy dinning area. You can't help but want to come in and kickback with one of their amazing cocktails - I had naked tickle flight 15. We split an order of our absolute favorite Brussels sprouts. In fact, my friend is not a fan of Brussels sprouts but really enjoys them here. Next, I had the chicken quesadilla which was good. My friend had the wings. We both had enough left for lunch the next day. To conclude the meal we decided to try three of their desserts - we couldn't decide on what to split! The Carmel something or other with vanilla ice cream was our agreed upon favorite! My friend really liked the blueberry cheese cake while I preferred the chocolate cake thing that looked like a hostess yodel! We had plenty to take home! Still a favorite get--a-way spot! Worth the experience!

Yelp
Short: My favorite part about sundance! Good food in an awesome old school log building. Great atmosphere. Long: What's not to love about The Owl Bar? Some of the best food I have had (the dirty fries are the best!) A really solid burger and a great selection of beers and full bar with some nice cocktail options. Plus all of this and it's a quick walk from the ski trails! Live music some nights as well! service is friendly and fast!

David W.

Yelp
Such a cool spot. From the history of The Owl Bar (and how Redford brought it to Utah) to the decor, it just feels unlike anything else. While it's really small and can be hard to get into sometimes, it's worth the wait. The drinks--and their names-- are great and the dirty fries are the absolutely delicious. It's a can't miss spot.

Bekah C.

Yelp
You can't go wrong with The Owl Bar. Fantastic cocktails, delicious food, and an unbeatable outdoor patio. The service is sublime and the selection is perfection. The Owl Bar has all of the good vibes in all of the best ways.

Henry W.

Yelp
The ambiance was nice, but I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich and luckily decided to cut it in half before taking a bite. The chicken was raw in the middle. I took it to the staff and, while they said sorry, there was a lack of concern that raw chicken was on my plate. As an apology, they did comp the wedge salad I got as an alternative but, there wasn't a rush to get it out quickly. When it came out everyone else at my table had finished their meal. All in all, an off-putting experience, especially with the current bird flu situation. So, I just wanted to say, if you eat at Owl Bar - check your chicken!

Yelp
Great bar at Sundance. Honestly think the smell is the best part. It's like that woody, smoky outdoor smell. Very hard to replicate. This review is only for the drinks and the hot pretzels not the regular menu. Great service all around! Perfect spot to check out before your dinner on the rest of the resort. My Old Fashioned is probably the best that I've had in Utah (see previous reviews for my issues with the food scene here..). The hot pretzel was generous in size and could be split amongst several of us. We sat in the front room right in front of the bar and it was nice and cozy!

Simon P.

Yelp
Good food and service. Nice ambiance. Excellent staff. I'd go back because I think most people I hang out with would enjoy it quite a lot.

Hannah F.

Yelp
Great bar in Sundance! There was a band playing that night so there was a cover charge but it was only $5. The bartenders were kind and quick to get me and my big group of coworkers started on our drinks. I chose the Sangria because one of my colleagues let me know they make their Sangria in house. It was delicious and not too sweet! This bar isn't big but it's welcoming and with the band it was such a fun time! Would recommend if you're in the area.

Curtis R.

Yelp
Took a ride to this ski resort bar on a whim and primarily because they had live music. It was a cool setting and place was packed getting the last table. Ordered two burgers that came garnished and cooked as expected along with fries. Had some drinks listening to excellent blues music for about 4 hours. Great service and ambience and will go back ago soon when there is live music. Included a photo of half eaten burgers, was too hungry to wait and take a photo.

Nicole M.

Yelp
The atmosphere at the Owl Bar can't be beat. Sitting outside with the running river is relaxing and enjoyable. The food is very very average bar food. We had the quesadilla and nachos and they were fine, but definitely not spectacular especially considering the price. The service was very slow and it was not crowded at all as we were there just after it opened. It was nice for a special occasion, we wouldn't go out of our way to go back.

Amber W.

Yelp
Currently here visiting my brother and this place was so cool. It was awesome hearing about the rich history and the fact that the bar is the original wood from Ireland gave it a very authentic feel. It's comfortable inside and the servers were nice and friendly. They helped us even when we didn't know what to order. We initially came in for a drink but I was tempted by the Brussel sprouts and let me tell you... they were to die for! Best sprouts I've ever had my brother doesn't even like them and he was crazy for them. Highly recommend. 21+ only! No kids or minors allowed inside.

Andrea B.

Yelp
I love this place year round, but in the winter it is especially charming and beautiful. I love the vibe of the bar, the live music nights are awesome, the seats are comfortable and my favorite item on the menu is the burger ;) Service has always been great when I have gone, their cocktails are always delicious. I will be back again and again.

James H.

Yelp
Came up to Sundance over a weekend. Fun place to explore and have some drinks. Drinks were great. Service was awesome. Ambiance is truly amazing.

Robin C.

Yelp
Great place! Food and drinks were great and the entertainment was fantastic, had the crowd dancing and enjoying the night. Everyone working was friendly and helpful. If you get the chance to see the Nate Robinson Trio here, do it!

Susan B.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous! Loved sitting outside with the rushing water in the background. Our server Asher, was amazing! One of my favorite cocktails I've ever tried - Wildflower! We had the fried pickles which were battered amazingly. The humus was delicious! Main entree was the pasta with chicken. Such a great flavor! Wonderful experience from start to finish!

Lydia T.

Yelp
Fun bar in Sundance. Bartenders were friendly and helpful with tips on what to do in the local area. Drinks were strong

Grace M.

Yelp
really nice place with good vibes and kind servers! the place is lodge aesthetic which is perfect for the mountains. we go here afterwork and it's nice to chill out and talk. the food is alright for the most part the best thing in their menu is for sure the brussel sprouts! and this is coming from a person who doesn't like most vegetables. most of the food was good, the wings was really good. i didnt enjoy the rib sauce that much. the pasta i liked but the sauce/cheese felt like it was left out too long. but in general, really good for appetizers and sharing with groups.

Tess G.

Yelp
We sat at the bar and listened to live music. The waygu burger was amazing! We loved the food and drinks.

Lizzy R.

Yelp
Returned to the owl bar/grill tonight for a wonderful experience. I updated my 1 star review to 5 stars as I really appreciate the effort Sundance made to make sure we had a great experience this time around. Thank you Sundance and our server Chloe!!

David M.

Yelp
Came here on Friday - July 5th after hiking in the area. Plenty of seats and food was good but staff was unfriendly and seemed overwhelmed. Sandwiches came out quickly and Caesar salads took 50 minutes. Staff generally seemed unhappy.... Disappointing because we have been here before and loved it....

B S.

Yelp
Love the bar and ambiance. Signature cocktails were amazing. Nice seat by the fireplace while big flakes falling outside. I do wish this bar would open at 2 pm - Foundry Grill closed from 2-4 pm and there is cozy spot to sit and hang out from 2-4 pm (would seem prime time during mid-day to nab some bar sales, no?). Love this place! Cheers!

Austin D.

Yelp
Enjoyed a Fireside Old Fashioned while watching the patrons enjoy the lift and cruise down the hill. Perfect spot to relax at the end of the day and the stream runs between the bar and the slopes giving a constant ambient background noise. 10/10

Elle M.

Yelp
Fun, rustic atmosphere. Delicious indulgent food. Great bands with live music on the weekends. Friendly, attentive staff.

Corynn B.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate my birthday and had such a blast. My friend and I sat at the bar and found out it was the first weekend they had reopened since COVID started! There was live music in the corner of the seating area and the band was phenomenal. We ordered several cocktails and I got their veggie burger and fries for dinner. The bartender was super attentive and the staff was fun to talk to! The bartender overheard that we were celebrating my birthday, and after we finished our dinner he brought out the cutest dessert with a candle in it for me to celebrate. Thank you for making me feel so special on my birthday!

Emma F.

Yelp
Live music was great! I didn't love my cocktail (especially not for the price), but the BOB's beer was a really nice light beer. We split the burger and the chicken sandwich. The burger was dry but the chicken sandwich was crispy and flavorful. This was a pricier spot and the menu is really hit or miss. We had a pretty good time here.

Dang L.

Yelp
Great place. You get in and secure your own table. Yes if the table are all full you can stand there and watch Order drinks and food. Felt the drinks were not very strong and taste was so so. I got the bourbon cocktail - Happy Gilmore. Could taste much bourbon. Maybe cuz I'm used to drinking it on the rocks. Got the flank steak, Nachos, Brussels sprouts, halibut ceviche, and Buffalo chicken wings. 4 stars. I have to say the food here is solid. Everything tasted great! The Buffalo wings were so delicious with the ranch. The steak tasted moist despite us ordering well done. The ceviche had three perfect acidity. Brussel sprouts were so good I ate the almost whole serving by myself. The nachos were decent although I wished the cheese were more goey. Overall it was a great meal.

Kayla S.

Yelp
Have been here a few times and loved it each time! Such a fun ambiance whether it be after a day skiing or in the summer just leisuring. Good variety of drinks available

Renee L.

Yelp
Cozy little place with a nice outside patio. Menu is VERY limited. We didn't have reservations at either main restaurant at Sundance and this place will let you wait in line outside for a table. Sweet potato fries were nice and crispy. My friends enjoyed the chicken wings which came with a lot of sauce on them and celery and carrots.

Dawn C.

Yelp
I had a lovely small plate and cocktail at the Sundance Mountain Resort Owl Bar Yesterday. I forgot to get a picture of the food but it looked very appetizing and tasted even better. The chimichurri was a nice complement to the thinly sliced chewy sourdough toast. The sausages were spicy and paired well with the sweet peppers. It was definitely a large enough portion to share and was a good choice to pair with the gimlet cocktail. The drive to Sundance was spectacular with the fall leaves in full color. I highly recommend a visit before they're gone. The owl bar was packed and I was not able to sit outside. I ended up finding a stool at the bar. The bartender was friendly and efficient-the food did not take long at all.

R K.

Yelp
Beautiful setting inside and out nice rustic bar. Love the outdoor patio and sounds of the running stream. Great service.

Evelyn M.

Yelp
Perfect place after a 4 mile dusty hike! The grounds are pristine and beautiful. We had shaded patio seating and enjoyed adult beverages, the best Brussel sprouts I have ever had then shared the chicken & steak Nachos ( huge) and a hamburger and sweet potato fries... all delicious. They are dog friendly outside and brought the dog water before our beverages

Darren M.

Yelp
What a perfect escape from the snow and the cold. We came here after skiing, midday on a Sunday, and we received nothing but warmth and comfort from everyone there. We ordered some beers and appetizers of fried pickles, chips and salsa, and pretzels. The food was delicious and hit the spot! The atmosphere of the bar was fantastic. Drop kick Murphy's flowed through the air, and rugby was playing on the TV. It was great to take a break from the snow and be in that warm environment. Must be 21+ so have your IDs ready!

Kaylee M.

Yelp
Great place for food and drinks. Waiter was quirky and funny. If you love the outdoors this place is for you!

Danielle J.

Yelp
Favorite new stop for lunch while skiing!! Great and FAST service! Holden was our waiter and was Amazing--personable, funny and made lunch that much better! Live music made for an extra touch!! We ordered the brussel sprouts, veggie burger, angus burger and chips and salsa--all delicious!!

Phil G.

Yelp
With friends visiting from Wisconsin, I was intent on showing them the glory of Utah's mountains. There isn't a better way to illustrate this alpine majesty than a drive to Sundance. Drinks at the Owl Bar were just an added elixir to the wonderment of this gorgeous April afternoon. We all loved the history and rustic ambiance of this inn. Servers were friendly and the cocktails just fine. Bar food hit the spot, with the fried pickles matching the lore of Sundance and Robert Redford. In fact, other than his direction of "Ordinary People," most people would take the fried pickles over Bob. Sorry. They were that good. I shall return to the Owl Bar and for a stay at the Sundance Resort. I'm an urban dude and usually find nature a bit too, well uncontrolled. Sundance may help me understand the necessity of an ecological awareness. The drive to Sundance is religiosity at its most pure. Some higher power must be involved

Jeanine N.

Yelp
What a quaint bar and delish food too. We got the Naked Tickle Fight cocktail (what a name). Good drink. Gibson was a server. He was knowledgeable and attentive. For eats, we ordered the crab hash-browns. I love crab and I had never heard of this dish before. It did not disappoint with fresh herbs and lots of crab atop some crisp, but not over cooked hash-browns. Then we ordered a Bison burger cooked medium well with bacon and cartelized onions with Russian dressings on a delish Kaiser roll. This was the best bison burger I have ever had and I have had them all over the PNW. We asked that the music be changed (they were playing rap??? ). They changed it To something more appealing and appropriate as soon as we asked. I rarely rave about "bar food" but I would drive up to Sundance to The Owl Bar again just to Eat, let alone drink. Cheers to Gibson and The Owl Bar at Sundance.

M C.

Yelp
Such a great atmosphere and friendly staff! Dropped by for a quick drink and bite to eat before a 6pm SFF screening b/c timing would have been too tight if dined at The Foundry. Nice menu choices with ability to order a few entrees from the Foundry, if preferred. The cauliflower had great flavor but much more salt than I'd normally use.

Josh L.

Yelp
Went to owl bar w a couple friends. We ordered a bunch of food and drinks. The waiter seemed as though he forgot about us, until I took a picture and then I got scolded. Apparently no pictures or videos at the place that started a film festival? At the end of the meal, a COCKROACH came out from under my fries after I had eaten the whole bison melt!!! I told the waiter. He talked to management and they said there was nothing they could do... they didn't even take that one plate off the ticket. However, when my bill came back, there was an additional $20. I thought Ashton Kutcher was going to pop out and tell me I was linked or something. Never going back.

P A.

Yelp
Sundance is always great. Owl Bar's food is typical of UT...mediocre. However, atmosphere is great. Service is great and drinks are SOLID.

James M.

Yelp
A nice spot to have a drink and soak up the Sundance atmosphere. Very good bar service and nice views. Historic over 200 year old bar from the movie was transplanted here. Would have taken a photo of it but they don't allow photos inside. Outdoor and indoor seating.

Barbara R.

Yelp
Favorite place to go on our way to Park City. Great atmosphere. Just wish the bar space was a bit larger.

Art C.

Yelp
Great vibe. Great service. Just drank but food looked very good. Very friendly staff. Felt like Redford might walk in any minute :)

Bruno P.

Yelp
Amazing ! Great food. Great cocktails. Great service. The long drive is worth it. They have the best cocktails in Utah county. They have a very wide variety of spirits including mezcal. The food is definitely much nicer than average bar food. It's much pricier than your regular wings bar, but definitely much better. They have a fire pit and live music. Wife loves it !

Lisa K.

Yelp
Total Sundance experience for our Après ski. All the places at Sundance fit the intended vibe. From the decor to the local mountain man who came in with his dog, this place is pretty cool. The charcuterie board was delicious as were the cocktails.

Jennifer D.

Yelp
This is a fun spot on the Sundance Mountain Resort spot. They have great apps including fried pickles and nachos. They also have a great drink menu and the service is good. If you're there in the winter, they have a cute outdoor area with fires.

Moira D.

Yelp
Great grub, great local beers sitting at bar...very friendly bartenders...understated high end service...delightful!

Carmen V.

Yelp
Awesome atmosphere and refreshing beer (Robert Redford's beer nonetheless). Very cowboyesque appeal, so charming and cozy nested in the Sundance mountains. What a lovely way to 'kill some time' before going to a 'real' 4th of July BBQ at a house in a nearby town (we were so full after having our 'appetizers' here that honestly could not eat anything else at our party). We got the wagyu burger, the fantastic pretzel with those incredible sauces (and I thought I was not a pretzel person) and the fried artichokes hearts. With these 3 items we were so happy and satisfied! Plus I loved seating across from my boyfriend who was seating nearby a pic of Redford and Paul Newman...what a trio of male beauties!!!

Jim C.

Yelp
The Owl Bar today is a master class in how to quickly destroy an exceptional restaurant experience. For years one of our absolute favorite places to enjoy an outdoor casual dinner - great ambience at the base of the mountain surrounded by trees and a peaceful running creek. A solid menu with a fantastic charcuterie board, great nachos, Brussels sprouts, tempura vegetables, etc...we would always see each of those items on every table. We went tonight for the first time in several months, with all of us looking forward to enjoying some of our favorite food in one of our favorite spots. Much to our surprise, all of those favorites are no longer on the menu. That would be okay if they were replaced with better. To say the menu has been reduced, not just in number of items, but the quality of offerings, would be a gross understatement. While nachos remain on the menu, they pale in comparison to the previous offering. None of the other favorites survived what we were told are changes by a new chef. My fried chicken sandwich contained what looked like a fake chicken cutlet straight from the freezer section at Costco. Nothing special at all. The burger...average. The one salad - small and extremely overpriced. All in all, we witnessed a lesson in how to ruin a great thing from the food to the service. Our waitress was full of facts about the trouble brewing internally. It did not enhance our experience to have her refer to a menu offering as the "shit nachos", to tell us she couldn't stand the new chef, to say the only good food at Sundance was now at the Lookout, or to argue with my daughter about the Rose she ordered that was actually not a Rose. The management should be embarrassed.
