This is without a doubt the WORST hotel I’ve ever seen in Australia. If you’re even thinking about staying here, do yourself a favor and run the other way. The welcome was nothing short of hostile — almost aggressive. The sofa bed wasn’t made, and when we politely pointed it out, the receptionist literally THREW a sheet in our faces while screaming at us. The next day, same attitude again just because we reported a broken light in the bathroom. Every single question about the hotel was answered with either an eye roll, a sigh, or a rude gesture. The sofa bed is unbearably uncomfortable, the Wi-Fi doesn’t even work, and the room is loud all night. This place is a disgrace to the hotel industry. Absolutely shameful.

Definitely would not recommend. Contacted the hotel to let them know we would be arriving after staff hours. They told me they will leave the key in the lockbox at the property. I received an email stating the key was in the lock box and instructions how to get it. When we arrived at 10pm we discovered they forgot to leave a key out and could not contact anyone after calling numerous times. We could not book anywhere else to stay after driving 7 hours from Perth. No option but to sleep in the car with 3 people. Staff was rude and not very apologetic after we arrived in the next morning. No compensation only not charging us for the night

Fairly good Hotel, good variety of food which is cooked extremely well cooked all times I've been there during DIDO/FIFO. A bit pricey but it shows it's worth once you've received the plate, rooms are spacious and vintage looking, nothing too special but some rooms can be a surprise as they're not all the same ( have been in 6 different rooms and they were all different in their own way) cool little window look outs if you're on the right side or in the right room. Overall, I'm always happy to stay at the Palace Hotel and you rarely hear the noise down stairs in the pub or the corner night club. Great venue & great location if you like being close to a lot of shops etc.

Had a great meal here, plate was full, had bangers and mash with onion gravy, they didnt have any colconon at the time so just normal mash and a bowl of vegies which was lovely fresh dutch carrots, caulii and brocollini, super fresh and cooked to perfection

Don't book here! We were in the back packer rooms. They failed to tell us there was a night club at the end of the corridor. We had a guy climbing on the air conditioner outside our second storey room at 1.30 at night. Never again!

Room was freshly painted with new carpets but furnishings dated and past their best. The room was clean and had decent air-conditioning. Loved the balcony to sit and watch the town. No breakfast available but food in the Irish pub was good and they served a decent cold pint. Brilliant location.

There is no security at the carpark The Palace Hotel Kalgoorlie. My car window was smashed and a backpack stolen. The manager was dismissive of what happened and there was no aplogy. There was no internet in our room despite claims. Do not stay at this hotel

This place is definitely not a palace. More a den of iniquity. It is in a very high crime zone of Kalgoorlie. How do I know this? Our friend's car was broken into on the first night of our stay. Damage to the car approximately $1000. The manager's response was dismissive and attitude appalling. Unacceptable given we are travelling a very long distance and were looking forward to two days of rest and exploration in the historically fascinating city of Kalgoorlie. Given the obvious constant crime, a secure compound carpark is required with full surveillance capabilities. I will be taking these matters up with Neil Thompson (MLC Mining and Pastoral) and the minister responsible for tourism in WA as the manager has taken no responsibility whatsoever!

Yelp
The best peppered steak in Australia, hands down! I have been coming here regularly over the last 3 years while working on a project in Kalgoorlie. I have been to almost every 5 Star steak restaurant in Australia and I challenge any of them to compete with this steak. Consistent, perfectly cooked, always impresses!

Yelp
The menu needs to change. I have been coming here for years and nothing on the menu has varied. Some variety required urgently. I am sitting here now and the service has been appalling. All service staff seemed totally focused on cleaning tables of departed patrons rather that servicing those that are seated. I have had four staff go past me a dozen times with my drink empty and plate waiting to be cleared. Basic stuff really. When staff have attended there is no eye contact and they are walking away before the conversation has concluded. The Thai beef salad came out in minutes indicating it was all prepared. Time to move on.

Yelp
Beautiful views and beautiful food from the upper balcony but a pity about the manager arguing over turning on an air conditioner in a corner that had no air flow especially since the air con was right over our table. The customer is not always right but it does leave a bad taste in your mouth when management argues over turning on an air con on a 40 degree day. It's the little things that sometimes have the greatest affect on your dining experience.

Yelp
Best Backpacker Accommodation in Town! Clean, friendly and only too willing to help and give directions!

Yelp
Palace Hotel, Kalgoorlie, pride of place on the main drag, Hannan's Street. On referral we ventured here in search of a good steak. It was 7.30 at night and the temp was still 36C. We decided to sit on the upstairs balcony of this beloved institution and cool the body with a chilled beer. Three steaks for three lads followed. I went Pepper Crusted Prime Eye Fillet 400g, with creamy mash and a pepper & brandy sauce..medium rare. As steaks go, this was up there with the best. You bloody ripper! The rest of the menu, service and location are also worthy of recommendation.
