The food taste was very good. I was not expecting the fry vegetables be like this juicy but the taste was very good. The salmon was very delicious and we also got the steak as well which was good. The atmosphere was very good and quiet and the waiters very friendly!! If i had an option of 4/5 star i will give that as well got our food a little late and some families got their earlier although came after us. I will go there again.

My second time here and it does not disappoint! Born in Freddy, but live in the U.S. (CA & Florida), and visiting family. I LOVE coming to the Palate on my trips here. But tonight was exceptional for two reasons— first and foremost, excellent service from Sophie!!! Super attentive, helpful, friendly. And second - pork belly app was DEVINE! (Thanks Sophie for nudging me in this direction!). Also try the Auchentoshan Scotch - nicely sippable (spelling! Ha!). Thank you The Palate!

The food here was great a lot better than I was expecting to be honest. I had a Mitaki mushroom dish that was delicious. The only thing I found was that there wasn’t enough of it with it being a strictly vegetarian dish. It just felt like it needed more. I tried my friends fish as well and it was fantastic. Everything was plated so beautifully. The service was great. I did find that the interior was A little plain. They could use some better decor to match the beautiful plating.

All the food we had was well presented and tasted fantastic. The restaurant decor is a bit dark and the waiter service was not very attentive. Overall excellent value for money .

We booked this restaurant last minute while visiting Fredericton for work with a group of about a dozen people. Based on the Google reviews, we decided to give it a try—and I can confirm it truly deserves 5 stars! The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and the presentation was impressive. Definitely a place I’d come back to and highly recommend.

I've lived in Fredericton for 5 years and have passed by this restaurant on several occasions without ever having stopped in. My wife finally convinced me to make a reservation for my birthday dinner with friends and I must say WOW, I was impressed. Don't be fooled by its demure setting, this restaurant serves up some visually appealing, well crafted and delicious dishes. We started with a few appetizers including a shredded duck tostada as well as a sliced and braised pork belly...so tasty. My wife ordered the steak and potatoes while I selected to Coq au Vin. Might I say this may well be the best restaurant, fine dining at least. that I have yet to try in Fredericton. Its obvious that the dishes were carefully prepared with both thought and care and the final delivery was visually stunning. Great food, great menu, fantastic service...Strongly recommend! PS - Don't skip on the desserts! My English Sticky Toffee was delish!

Google
A somewhat chilly welcome by the host but efficient, friendly server. Apps were good, a slightly soggy Caesar salad, a delicious wedge salad and a spectacular bang bang shrimp. Mains were ok, we ordered both steaks and they were good, Korean fried chicken delicious, fingerling potatoes seemed like they were warmed up from yesterday, salmon was overcooked, sadly and the sauce was …chunky? Nice apple crumble. Bathrooms need a refresh also. We won’t be back

We were in town to celebrate a graduation. There were 8 of us and we ended up going two nights in a row. The food was excellent and the staff are friendly. Our first night the young lady who served us really stood out as a great server. I wish we could remember her name. Thank you!

Yelp
Visited Fri June 29 for lunch. Wow this was one of the most amazing meals I had in Fredricton! Pros - Pasta of the day was fresh and delicious. The smoked salmon was flavourful. The chowder was delicious with generous seafood, we wanted to lick the bowl clean! Cons - I can't think of any to be honest. Protip - Tourists, get a parking permit to park for free! Damage - $28 pre tip.

Yelp
A small but creative menu that should accommodate most palates. Food was well prepared, arrived quickly, was tasty, and the service was excellent. A comfortable ambiance as well. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
Great service last night before the Harvest Music Festival. Made a reservation and glad we did! Enjoyed some Pinot Grigio, the baked Brie, Korean Fried Chicken, and an Espresso Martini - the obvious dessert choice when you are trying to avoid dessert! Fredericton has some excellent restaurant options and The Palate would be worth a visit for sure if you are debating!

Yelp
We recently moved to Fredericton (Aug. 2023) and are trying out the local restaurants. We have not tried them all yet but so far The Palate is the best of the dozen or so we have tried. Good food, nice atmosphere, fast & friendly service. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there.

Yelp
Finally managed to get the reservation of this place after 3 attempts. Being highly rated place of fredericton, Palate was on the top of my list. We tried: Oven 'fried' chicken: Breaded breast of chicken drizzled with blue cheese dressing and served with mashed potato and grilled vegetables was looking so tempting. Taste was really good and different but salt was little on higher end which could have been avoided. Pasta of the week: Salmon pasta was the pasta of week to try out there. It was fulfilling and tasty. Overall: Ambience: 4/5 ( Romantic ambience with dim lights was a perfect evening to spend there) Taste: 3.5/5 (I wish they could have used less salt in oven fried chicken) Value for money: 3.5/5 (Bit expensive) Staff: 4/5 (courteous and polite) Presentation: 4/5

Yelp
Great little restaurant in the heart of Fredericton. I ordered their striploin steak with vegetables and those vegetables tasted fresh and amazing! I was there on a Wednesday and took full advantage of their wine specials. Service was very friendly too!

Yelp
Wonderful food, service, ambiance. I started with the chowder( its a big bowl) could have shared with another person. Great wine service and moved on to the Lemon Marange salmon on a bed of rice, wow what a treat! Well prepared with a flakey texture and creamy topping to blend with the rice base . Finished it off with a dessert to carry back to the room. If you are only in town for a meal or two, make this one of them.

Yelp
Only ate here once, but it was absolutely delightful. Great ambiance, wonderful food, and very reasonable pricing. Would go there again, if the occasion arose. Truly a place to relax and enjoy good company.

Yelp
My favourite in Fredericton. It's tough finding a good calibre restaurant here. Chains generally don't do it for me, so this is a must for others like myself. Great food and great service. Excellent value for the dollar!

Yelp
Okay. Why have I waited so long to visit this little gem. This is some high quality cuisine folks. I tried a little bit of all these dishes and was one happy camper. Definitely a must !

Yelp
Last year, my wife and I tried the Palate for the first time. We had a wonderful lunch- the dishes were fresh, creative, interesting and really tasty. We returned this Christmas for an evening meal - and were supremely disappointed! Let me start with the good- the mussel appetizer was excellent. As was my wife's soup: turnip and vanilla! Amazing combo. I mean, who would think of that! Really interesting and tasty. Dessert was also excellent- the caramelized rum cake had a wonderful homemade feel to it. Which is what makes the following all the more incredible: The main dishes we had were bland and unbalanced. I had the spear rib special, which came with basmati rice and vegetables. The rice tasted... like rice I would have made in college. There was nothing to it. No cardamom, no butter. Nary a shallot. The vegetables were fresh, yes, but... again, really bland. No spices, no clever olive oil I had with lunch last time, no sauce on the side. But then- the spear ribs- a massive POWWW of overpowering vinegar. The acidic sauce not only eclipsed the aroma of the pork, but completely unbalanced the rest of the dish. My wife had a similar experience with the salmon, apparently the restaurant's most popular dish. The taste of the salmon was SO overpowered by the layer of grilled cheese on top, that it was more of a salmon cheeseburger! Without the bun... The veggies were not copious at all, and the mashed potatoes, underwhelming. We spoke to our waitress about our experience, and she listened politely, urging us to please give the restaurant another try. At no point were we offered any incentive such as a coupon, a discount, a drink or a free dessert, as would be perhaps customary- or at least very welcome, given the circumstances. Are we being picky? I don't think so, especially given the excellent reputation this place has, the wonderful experience we had the previous year, and certainly the 75$ price tag for the meal for two (including one draft beer). Were there two cooks? Did they have an off night? Or has the Palate lost its way? I certainly hope not, as the staff are friendly and I truly believe the place to have the potential to be a fine restaurant. The experience we had is truly a mystery to me.

Yelp
My fiancé had the Lemon meringue salmon, and it was incredible. I had the Lobster capellini and I loved it As a started we had the baked crusted Brie with gluten free crackers. Loved it.

Yelp
We stumbled on this place right after arriving in Fredericton (we owe a huge thanks to the local couple who promised us it was amazing), and we blown away by every aspect of our meals. I had the charcuterie with house-made pate and chorizo, delicious cheeses, and all sorts of other goodies, and John had the Atlantic cod poached in a coconut milk curry. I can't begin to describe the palette of flavors those dishes presented, but I can tell you that this is a serious kitchen with a 100% commitment to innovative, thoughtful, and diverse gastronomy. One of the best meals either of us have had in at least the last year. Everything is locally grown and sourced, and we'll be back for lunch tomorrow before we head off to Maine. What a fantastic place! Oh, and the service was excellent, and I had a locally-brewed Radler beer

Yelp
We had a delicious meal -- both salad and main -- with friendly and prompt service. The food preparation was different, like a caesar salad topped with a soft poached egg, but fabulous. I also had the basa puttanasca, which was too delicious for words. And I love the look and feel of the place.

Yelp
Plusses: Center of town - amazing healthy menu - lots of vege/organic/local options as well as good meat/seafood - very popular (RESERVE A TABLE, even on a week night) Minuses: Strange lighting - so busy we didn't get silverware or serviettes until our entree arrived - service seemed good, but ours in particular very slow and un-attentive - well-priced - inventive/creative menu. Overall, I am a fan and it is definitely now in my top two restaurants in the area (the other being Blue Door), not having been to Racine's yet... that one is on the 2012 list, stay tuned...

Yelp
Great spot, glad we stumbled upon it. They had the best seafood chowder I have had in a long time. Every bite had seafood in it and it had great texture and fresh herbs. The lamb panini was great too.

Yelp
Service: Quick and friendly Decor: Felt like a home style restaurant. Nothing spectacular but the value of the food outweighs the decor by far! Food: Honest. I had a seafood chowder (that was a meal in itself) and portobello burger. Both were mouth watering. Review: My client suggested the place because he goes occasionally. Great suggestion on his part and great restaurant. I go to Fredricton once or twice a year. This will be my go-to restaurant. Reason for stars: Great food with very good value. I was surprised that this little town had a restaurant that could produce food like this for this price. There probably isn't many places in Toronto that would have such good value.

Yelp
Great service. Best chowder. Reasonable prices. Come early or expect to wait for a table at lunch.

Yelp
I ate here for the first time this week with some work colleagues. All in all it is a nice place. Friendly server. I had Seafood/Calm chowder, which was good. No complaints, fish tasted good and the broth/base was fine. Not a dish I'd rave about but certainly good. One of my colleagues raved about her Caesar salad and said it was the "best-ever". It was served with a poached egg on top that was perfectly cooked apparently. I had the lamb shank which was good. Roasted garlic mashed potatoes were tasty. The lamb was good as was the sauce. Another had the veal, which got okay marks. Pork tenderloin got a positive review as did the Halibut. Another place I'll return to.

Yelp
Great spot! Stopped in for lunch. Although my chicken club was more panini than the club sandwich I'm used to, it was well prepared with fresh ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Yelp
The food was a complete delight, service was exceptional next time in Fredricton I'll be back

Yelp
Very nice place, tastefully decorated, not the chain restaurant interior with every place looking the same no matter where you are. The meal we had was excellent and was not your normal fare; I had leg of lamb and my wife had venison. The prices were very good for the quality of food and service we had, would definitely recommend it and we will go again.

Yelp
Excellent! Finishing our lunch now. French toast for the kids, smoked meat for me and club for my wife. All done up special cans all excellent! Don't miss this place!

Yelp
Best lunch spot in town, hands down! Their soups and sandwiches always rock! The ambiance is a bit lacking to go there for dinner, but I've heard from several people that the salmon is to die for! If I go out for lunch and it's open, this is the place for downtown Fredericton. Yum!

Margaret F.

Yelp
The Palate used to be one of our favorite places to go out for dinner - however after the last visit I'm afraid our opinion has changed. We had a Greek salad - which should have been named red pepper salad. Then we had seafood fettuccini - after we had found the allotted 4 shrimp and half dozen of the babiest scallops all that was left was chunks of salmon (few) and noodles!!! All in all - not up to par - and not to be repeated.

Yelp
Both my spouse and I were in Fredericton last weekend. We heard alot of Palate which is why we decided to try it out. As it was a Saturday, we made reservation first. With the exception to one waitress who sat us down, we had a pretty pleasant time there with another waitress that served us all the way. The meals weren't that bad. We had the pair and salmon entree. Well I suppose Saturday's aren't their best days because it was really busy.

Tony C.

Yelp
Love all the food here, but I have to recommend my favorite dish which is the Coconut Curried Chicken stir fry, with extra veggies, extra hot, my mouth is watering as I write this !!
google avatar

Naomi L.

Yelp
Nice ambiance and delicious food!! The halibut was truly fantastic. And my colleagues also enjoyed the Thai Chicken and Chicken Supreme. A bit costly but worth it for a nice dinner out.

C G.

Yelp
I have only ever had breakfast here and I was very disappointed in the food. I cannot eat egg yolk but egg white is fine. I asked for egg white only to be informed they cannot do that. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that won't do egg white only. This wouldn't have been such a problem except that every breakfast choice came with eggs. This left me giving my eggs to my husband and my eating toast and a very greasy potato and bacon side. With that said, the service was excellent.

Yelp
Stopped here for the first time on a Saturday afternoon walk. Had an amazing chicken teriyaki stir fry over basmati rice. Tasted fresh. Can't wait to go back! Service was also good, didn't have to wait long at all.

Grant L.

Yelp
We went for supper and were a bit put off at first, waiting for five minutes before anyone even came to greet us, much less get seated. I'm fairly understanding though, anyone can get overwhelmed. As far as looks and presentation go, the restaurant and food both met or exceeded expectations. Where I found The Palate to be lacking was in serving size (for the amount you pay) and menu selection/variety was somewhat predictable for an eatery of this kind. Overall, good food, great presentation but perhaps slightly underwhelming for the price and menu predictability.

Blaine D.

Yelp
Best restaurant in Fredericton as far as food is concerned. Amazed we didn't discover it earlier

A M.

Yelp
I was extremely disappointed today by the food and the service. There was a dead earwig in my Caesar salad that I didn't discover until halfway through my meal (I had eaten half of my salad and sandwich before I had discovered it). When I saw the bug in my food, I told the waitress who brought it back to the kitchen. When she came back she said they could take $6 off of my meal and asked if I still wanted the other half of my sandwich (ew, no?!). The staff seemed unapologetic and unconcerned. I understand that every now and then these things can happen, but the way the situation was handled left me appalled. I know less 'classy' restaurants that would have apologized and given the meal for free. Needless to say, I didn't want the other half of my salad and sandwich. The dining experience had been ruined by the rude attitude of the staff (which is sad since my boyfriend and I really loved that restaurant). I'm a pretty easy going person, but that left a bad taste in both mine and his mouth - good thing there's lots of other great restaurants downtown Freddy where we will be dining from now on.
