I expected hotel to be nicer. It’s not what the pictures show. Rooms need an upgrade, towels were old and there were no wash cloths, hairdryer or iron in room. The shower has no door for privacy. The toilet was clogged when we got there, it was fixed quick though. The parking garage is horrible, not enough space to move around to park. The only things I liked was the rooftop pool and bartenders..they were nice, housekeeping did a great job cleaning room, and location. The AC was very cold, which was good but only a flat sheet was available to cover yourself. I wouldn’t stay there again.

Soula P.

Google
The photos are deceiving. There was no umbrellas at pool. Our air conditioning was leaking on the floor when we first came, but the staff addressed it immediately. But the shower was leaking all over the bathroom after and during shower and I had to use my towels to clean, so we wouldn’t fall… so much water! I never knew it until I had to take a shower. I resisted to take one after that. It was not the vacation I expected! Also music on streets kept us up all night! Worst! Being close to everything was no not worth it.

Mariusz M.

Google
Great hotel. Nice pool and bar. Some rooms have only a window for the corridor. Great location. Bartender Giovanni if I remember correctly at the pool bar was so helpful and nice.

Google
Really solid budget accommodation. Room was huge and bed was comfy. Rooftop pool was a nice hangout area. Proximity to 5th Ave couldn't be beat, but our room was still quiet at night.

Google
This place is non-refundable for a reason because they know once you see it, you are definitely going to want to leave. The hotel is VERY dated and hanging on by a string. The lock on the door was BROKEN, the tv didn’t work even though someone was sent twice to allegedly repair it, and the shower had a mildew like odor, which i discovered was due to black mold on the ceiling. The hotel is obviously ran on a very tight budget and it shows. I will NOT be staying here again and I will tell my friends and family the same.

Google
It’s really a strong 3 star hotel. The staff is amazing and attentive. The rooms are spacious with a nice balcony — remember, I said a strong 3 star. The rooftop pool is clean and has great service. Honestly I was impressed, I normally stay at higher end hotels, but really the staff exceeded my expectations.

Google
I purchased the room and upon arriving, even though check in was at 3 pm the room wasn't ready, they gave me another room and the conditions were horrible. The curtains were placed wrong. The sheets on the bed had stains on them and there were even small cockroaches in the bathroom area. When reaching out to the staff about making changes, they were rude, they lacked the one thing hotels do, "hospitality". And instead of changing the sheets they re-did the bed and there were even more stains.. I don't know what went wrong. The location is amazing. Maybe they should reconsider changing some staff and upgrading the infrastructure... The rooftop is beautiful and the way they treat you there makes it more bearable downstairs. Shout-out! to the staff at the roof top who made my stay more welcoming.

Google
Probably one of the worst hotel experiences I have had in recent memory. The rooms are fine, but it felt like they didn't know what to do with the space in the suite so it was somewhat unfurnished empty space. Couch was stained. Property has a very particular feel to it that you will get upon reading if you've seen it before - once nice, now unmaintained. Location is excellent. There are no blankets on the bed, just a very thin sheet, which is frankly bizarre but whatever. I'll spare too many details on the room because that's almost unimportant. What WAS operative was the club. The music started around midnight, and actually got LOUDER at 3am. The windows were quite literally shaking. I get that it's like, downtown Playa del Carmen. They can't control that, necessarily. What they CAN control is, when we are paying for one of the most expensive suites in the hotel, literally refusing to move us to another room that was not directly in front of a club. I *very* politely asked the front desk employee if we could be moved to another room, and he flat out told me no and was entirely uninterested in any further conversation. What's worse - they had the rooms! I know, because I could have booked any of them online. They were extremely not full. He seemed somewhat surprised when we checked out at 4am the night we arrived. I have traveled to about 40 countries at this point and have rarely seen service this unhelpful at any establishment, let alone a "four star hotel." Of course, they did not even consider refunding us, but that is something my credit card company will handle.

Yelp
Tips from 2015 - I'd give it a 3.5 rating. - Rooms are not good, pool was ok, overall the grounds were alright. Nothing too shabby, but nothing luxurious. - Do not let them put you in a room that faces the street. You will hear loud music from across the street pass 4am. - Hated having to wear their bracelets around, but I guess that's more of a Cancun thing where all the hotels make you wear them.

Yelp
I have so many mixed feelings about this place. The good: very spacious rooms with a full kitchen included (fridge + freezer, stove, coffee machine, kitchen utensils, etc.), staff who are very patient despite the language barrier (they speak very little english), and a convenient location in Playa del Carmen The bad: Every bed just has a super thin sheet (no comforters), no pool towels at the pool (you can ask for it at the front desk but there are very few and you have to leave your passport to take them), the hot water is no longer hot after maybe 10 minutes, the hot tub has no heat or bubbles, breakfast is not a buffet and takes a long time to receive because there's only one chef.

Yelp
Had a lovely first night here in PDC. Great hospitality and a clean comfortable room with great amenities. The rooftop area was spectacular as well. Thankful for the staff who were so welcoming and attentive. Best feature was the location. So close to everything!

Yelp
We've been here several times and loved it. This year, Nov. 2024, service has taken a down turn. NO wash clothes in rooms and NO pool towels at pool. If you want a pool towel you have to go to the receptionist and put a 200 peso deposit. But the three times we went to receptionist they didn't have towels!!! Staff is NOT very accommodating. This will be our last visit!!!

Yelp
Definitely recommend that you stay in a loft, as opposed to a regular room. Staff is very helpful and welcoming. This hotel is perfectly located downtown, near shops, restaurants and the beach. The rooftop pool is great, many people buy a day pass but it's included for hotel guests. This place is not a 5 star rating because the water doesn't always get warm enough to shower and there are areas that need some TLC but overall, it's a beautiful establishment perfectly located in the downtown area. It is loud, I recommend having earplugs handy. For me, the sound was fine because I usually sleep with my AirPods and sound going. For my husband, he needs silence so I brought earplugs for him which worked out.

Yelp
Arrived at 2:30 pm and was told to fill up a bunch of paper work to get the room more than normal, then we where told the room would be ready at 3:00 We got to the hotel at 3:30 and the room was not available we are waiting in the lobby because they don't have it clean yet I see a bunch of people checking in with no problem that actually arrived after us. We asked for a room on the bottom floor because their elevators failed a few days before and they said they don't have any after asking another staff member it is because they take too long cleaning them. The elevators have no AC and are incredibly hot and small. I don't recommend this place to anyone for the same $$ you can get a better place.

Yelp
One of the most disappointing places I have ever stayed at , the "resort" advertised it to us as an all inclusive experience and as we check-in they inform us that is not the case and made no effort to work that situation out with us or provide any sort of refund or compensation. All of amenities are embroidered with a completely different name "kavia" like they are in the process of rebranding but still marketing it as the original palm experience. There is little to no food and drink service on the rooftop and while they advise a rather expansive menu, we were told several times they didn't have beverage or food ingredients to make what we wanted to order. Would not recommend, and don't be as naive as we to think you can just stick it out. It sucks

Yelp
We took a day trip over to Playa de Carmen from Isla Mujeres and enjoyed ourselves on this rooftop pool club for most of the afternoon before heading into the death trap that is for tourists in this part of Mexico. It was very relaxing! We had a tip from a friend who traveled here previously as he told us you could buy a day pass for a deposit of $400mx ~$20 US (this deposit went towards drinks and food up at the rooftop bar) which was easily spent in the few hours we soaked in the rays and enjoyed the music. The pool isn't huge, so hopefully you can catch it on a day where it isn't packed, but the rooftop space is quite large with plenty of cabanas/chairs, sofas, bar stools and a hot tub (~60F) to relax in. Drinks are around $120mx and beers are $40mx, very decent price to pay to get off the tourist trapping streets and relax in the sun and water!

Yelp
Stayed a week here and had a great time! It is centrally located which is great to see playa del Carmen. Collectivo station is not far. Since it is located right in the heart of Playa it is loud. Listen to the reviews about noise if that's something that will ruin your time. Roof top pool is fun and food/drinks was good! Staff was great and SANDRA WAS AMAZING. She set us up with a dolphin excursion ( highly recommend) and left us a note in our room wishing us a great time. You can tell how much she cares about everyone

Yelp
Stayed at this aesthetically beautiful hotel and I would likely do so again, but there are important factors to consider: 1. There are no phones in the rooms to call down to staff. They assume you will have access to WhatsApp and will provide a qr code, but did not discuss any of that at check-in. 2. Thoroughly check your room. Our sheets seemed to have been recycled, never washed from a previous guest. Absolutely unacceptable! They had to come and change sheets at 1am. 3. This is a beautiful space in a high traffic area. It may be loud if you have a street facing room, but the police shut everything down by 1am. It will become as quiet as a church after that. No earplugs necessary. 4. The check-in process didnt include information regarding any details of my inclusive package, so we missed the free breakfast (unclear about the end time) at Irene which is connected to the hotel. 5. The hot water warms up, but it took a little while at times. 6. Great space. Be sure to take advantage of the garden and rooftop, but the balconies aren't to be missed. Beautiful place to relax after a long day. This hotel would have had my complete approval if not for the phone and dirty sheets! It is in a perfect location to take in everything, but inspect thoroughly when you arrive.

Yelp
Stayed here on the week of the 11th of June and had the best experience! The staff was amazing, very friendly; they treated my sister and I so well; truly accommodating. The hotel is not on the beach, but to me it seemed better than the higher priced resorts on the beach. The rooftop pool, bar and hot tub are BEAUTIFUL (see pics I took at sunset). Has to be one of the best. It is not all inclusive, but the free breakfast is great. You get fruit, coffee, and orange juice along with whichever breakfast plate you choose. We were happy with this arrangement because we would go out on excursions during the day and find good, local restaurants to eat lunch and dinner at while exploring. The rooms were nice and clean. It's not a new, 5 star hotel, but it's a very nice and clean 4 star hotel with amazing service and a young (30s business professionals) vibe, unlike some of the resorts.. Note that single bed rooms have see-through glass showers, which, will only work for couples. Rooms with two beds have the traditional private bathroom, which, was much better for us. There is free parking in a lot underneath the hotel, which is very convenient. You have to drive past a small city barricade (a little odd) on 8th St to enter. The gym is small but very nice, enough equipment and it's new. It has a very nice, zen-like feel to it. Take a little speaker, and turn up the music; I had a really good time working out in there.

Yelp
Rooftop bar review only. Had read a few reviews on this place before booking our stay at another hotel. After forgetting about it we just happened to walk by one evening and decided to take a look. Rooftop bar was open to the public at the time so we went up for a drink. Francisco was the bartender and he was awesome. So much info and filled us in on so many items we had questions about. Not just the hotel but the town in general. He explained their day pass and how you pay $600 pesos per persons but you get that as a credit towards food and drink. We decided to come back the next day for a change in scenery. Upon exiting the elevator and waking to a set of chairs, one of the waiters brought 2 towels and laid them very neatly over the chairs for us. Nice start to a great day. Rooftop was super cool. Great views of the town and the ocean. Plenty of space and every set of chairs had its own umbrella and table. Our waiter was the best. Even though they knew we were there on a day pass they still treated us great. He even charged my phone for me. We ordered some food which was tasty and prices were fair. Drinks were fair also. That's the good thing about boutique hotels. They want you to eat and drink there so they don't charge a crazy price. We ate and drank all we wanted for the 5 hours we were there and our bill was $1290 pesos. $90 more than our credit. That's a deal where I come from. Definitely will consider a stay here in the future and definitely will take advantage of the day pass if the stay doesn't hap

Yelp
It's okay the drinks have barely any alcohol how ever the ambience is awsome. I had the nachos with stake it was okay. The service was great how ever. I would return however maybe to bring my mom n law.

Yelp
Majority of my stay was great as expected. The rooftop pool and location of the hotel in town was amazing. The music coming from the clubs could be heard until early in the morning but if you are looking to book here, make sure you check all towels and sheets for stains once you check in. I was charged 1200 pesos for a towel which had makeup on it. This towel was dirty when I checked in, I told the front desk and they said to keep it on the floor and use another towel but when I checked out, they claimed I stained the towel and charged me. The man at the front desk was hostile when I asked if they had any proof that it was clean before my arrival. There are a lot of hotels in the area and I would recommend trying any other one besides The Palm.

Iain R.

Yelp
During a recent medical emergency my wife stayed at the Palm while I was in the hospital. The front desk manager, Connie, made sure everyone in the hotel knew of the situation as did the concierge, Sandra. They assisted her in every way possible as did every employee that knew of her situation. Upon my joining her, the employees went out of their way to make me feel welcome. The rooms were large and well laid out. The rooftop bar was spectacular with prompt and friendly service. The food served up there was fresh and plentiful. There is a continental breakfast that was filling and you could order off the menu. Service was impeccable. I highly recommend that if you are going to Playa del Carmen you consider staying at the Palm and get to know the wonderful people especially the concierge, Sandra.

Yelp
Would definitely stay here again. Visited back in April. Upon arrival at hotel they greet you with a cocktail. Wasn't very strong but appreciate the gesture. They give you bracelets to wear for the free breakfast. We only took advantage of the breakfast once but it was very good and we kicked ourselves for not having breakfast there everyday. They provided toiletries from L'Occitane and brought ample more when we requested it with no hesitation. The room appeared clean, the showers are huge (double headed) and open, a unique design. They also provided extra towels without giving us a problem, only once they couldnt because they said they were in the process of cleaning them. But they provided them once cleaned. And I loved that I could smell the faint smell of bleach in both the sheets and towels, so I was assured the linens were being properly cleaned. My only disappointment was after we went to the beach and tracked sand into the room, the next morning when we returned to the room after the maid "cleaned" a pile of sand was still on the floor so the floors weren't cleaned during our stay hence the minus star. Speaking of the beach, it's literally only 2 short blocks away. When I needed to use the restroom I had no problem returning to the hotel and then back to the beach. My friend said the beach wasn't as beautiful as Cancun but it was nice for what it was. And we forgot to bring a beach bag and beach towels but were surprised and thankful to find that the hotel provides a beach bag and towels for your use! Again went to rooftop once and wish had went more, at night it was gorgeous and relaxing. Didn't order from the bar so can't speak to that but they had good music going and the staff up there made sure to ask of we were all good but also didn't remain in our faces or try to force us to buy drinks etc., which would have made us uncomfortable. Could hear the noise people have mentioned from the rooftop, there's a pretty savage karaoke bar right across the street from the front of the hotel so keep that in mind when requesting rooms. The location of the hotel is fantastic, right in the middle of Del Playa's "strip" so very convenient. And the hotel was just gorgeous to look at, had almost a spa quality of it with running fountains, artwork, and lots of foliage. A separate AC unit in both the living room/kitchen area and the bedroom area. We never had problems with AC or hot water etc. once we were too dumb to figure out one of the lights and a guy came immediately and shower is how to use it without complaint. And they did have to change a lightbulb once, but again they responded quickly and fixed the issue. Everyone from the concierge, front desk, maids, cleaners, cooks, waiters, etc. etc. were extremely pleasant, polite, and aimed to please and be helpful. Other than the sandy floor issue, my only critique is that they provide you with a fridge but it's filled with stuff you have to pay for. Wish the fridge was empty for people to store their own things. Seriously one of the very best hotel stays I've ever had, I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Yelp
The Palm At Playa was amazing !!! Beautiful and relaxing ! Was there June 24-28 2018. It's location is perfect, close to many shops, restaurants, and the beach! Close to Xplor, Xcaret, Kantunchi, Yal-Ku Lagoon, Cancun, and Tulum Everyone there was so nice and accommodating ! Their breakfast at Sabor a Mar (right beside lobby) that was included with our stay was the best !! Amazing fresh fruit and toast come with whatever you chose. You can choose from French toast, pancakes, chilaquiles, to Palm special eggs to mollettes ! Sooo amazing !! The receptionists and waiters there were so friendly and helpful ! I feel so bad I forgot our waiters name , we had him for 3 breakfasts there, he was the best !! The stunning rooftop pool was so relaxing !! Had a hammock and a bunch of lounging chairs and outdoor showers. And we rented a car from Cancun airport and were able to park our car in their underground parking lot sooo nice ! Sandra the concierge is so helpful and sweet, always giving us great ideas for the day, even leaving us notes in case we missed her. In the rooms there were cute bags and umbrellas that we were able to borrow during our stay, umbrellas were super helpful with the hot sun and one bout of rain . There was a one-time environmental fee of $26USD that we paid for right when we checked in that we didn't know about when we made reservation. And I know a lot of people are saying they can hear music from their room thru the early morning because of the club across the street , we heard it, but honestly we were so tired from having so much fun during the day, that we slept through it . So if you're a light sleeper just ask for a room farthest from that side. If we come back to playa, we're staying at the Palm at playa ! Thank you sooo much for a memorable time Palm at Playa !

Yelp
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. The room is more like a 1 bedroom apt. The showers are sexy!!! You are located two blocks from the beach. The staff is very friendly. I got an inside room therefore no issues with noise. You get luxury here while still being in the center of the city. Tons of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Love this place soooo much! Rooftop was stunning, my favorite part...or maybe the open shower concept was my favorite. Great choice! FYI, not an all inclusive was the only downside. Breakfast was included but it was mediocre at best. Otherwise, can't go wrong here.

Yelp
This review is only for their rooftop since I did not stay at their hotel. My girlfriend and I arrive to the hotel and take the elevator to the rooftop. Compared to other hotel's who seem to have a stick up their butt when it comes to non-hotel guests using the rooftop, the people of Palm at Playa were very hospitable and welcoming. The rooftop is very attractive from the charming colors of the bar to the lavish pool on the side. Even though we weren't directly by the beach (you can still get a pretty good view of the beach) the vibes were still on point; big thanks to the humble staff. The highlight of our time was actually catching a beautifully pink sunset opposite of the beach, overlooking the city of Playa Del Carmen. I set up my iPhone and time-lapsed the whole thing and it's a video I'd probably even show my kids one day. I tremendously recommend this place for all my Playa visitors who are interested in rooftop hopping!

Yelp
On our first trip to Playa del Carmen, my friend and I decided on The Palm at Playa as our hotel. We purposely didn't want somewhere that was all-inclusive because we knew we'd be out every day exploring the city and trying different restaurants. I would highly recommend requesting a garden view room unless you are a deep/heavy sleeper. If you are into the nightlife and will party until 5AM, then the noise won't be an issue for you. Everyone at the hotel was super nice and seemed to appreciate when you tried to speak Spanish. We stayed in a Palm Loft Room which was huge and had: King-Sized Bed Two TVs (one in the bedroom area and another in the living room area) Queen-ish sized Sofa Bed Kitchen Area & Mini Fridge Nice Sized Bathroom Area Outdoor Patio Two Showers (w/o doors) I requested a second set of blankets for the room. A maid came and set up the sofa bed with fitted sheets and new pillows! It was so nice of the hotel, I just thought they'd give me some blankets. Our reservation included breakfast every morning. First, you get your choice of juice, fresh fruit (and yogurt), and toast. There are three meal options--Chilaquiles, Omelettes, or Hot Cakes. The Chilaquiles with an egg were delicious! It was a tad bit spicy for me (for breakfast), but had a lot of really great flavors packed in each bite. The omelettes were salty and not too tasty. The rooftop pool area is relaxing with a beautiful view of the ocean. There's a large pool, smaller jacuzzi area, bar, and plenty of cabanas. We booked a shuttle through the hotel for $75 per person roundtrip--totally worth it! Free Wi-Fi is available in the public areas, but we were able to also get it in our room--sweet! The location is perfect and in the center of everything. The beach is a block to two away and the main street (Quinta Avenida) is right around the corner. If you need water or some snacks, there's a convenience store next door as well. Also, the ADO bus station is a few blocks down Quinta Avenida, if you want to go to Cancun or the airport. I would definitely stay at the Palm at Playa the next time I am in town (which I hope is soon)!

Yelp
Excellent place to stay. Only a few blocks from the beach. If you ask for rooms away from the main avenue they are very quiet. We had 104 and it was good. We heard some of the music from the roof bar but it was ok. Roomy rooms comfortable beds and the bathrooms are amazing. There's a little Kitchenet for you it's like a little apt. Cold rooms since its humid out. Staff are amazing. Amibel the guy at the front super nice receptionist willing to help and the guys at Aroma Cilantro the best. Joan going above and beyond to help and give tips on where to go and Alfredo and Diego also took care of us at the restaurant since they offer free breakfast in the morning. Our cleaning lady was Perla Arcos. Super nice and always kept our room clean and stocked. Sandra the concierge, sweet and very helpful lady. She provided great service and hooked us up with some excursions at a great price. She also helped us with dinner reservations and transfers to and from the beach. This place is simply amazing and recommend it. The rooftop is a bit expensive but if you go to relax and have fun it should be ok.

Yelp
My husband and I started coming to the Palm five years ago and it was amazing. So amazing that we recommended it to many friends over the years. That all changed on Friday 2/18/22. Our friends were staying at the Palm and went to rooftop for some lunch. While they were out, someone, most likely a hotel employee, went into their room, broke into their safe and stole their wedding rings, watches, other jewelry and money. When they returned and discovered the theft, they immediately reported it to the front desk who did absolutely nothing to investigate the matter. They did not call the police. They did not review the tapes on the cameras outside their room. They did not offer any monetary compensation. Our friends had to call the police and begin an investigation. It is obvious that this was an inside job as the manager, Joseph, did not allow the police into the hotel to view the room or the tapes and their room and safe were entered using a key card and code. We are so disappointed with the Palm which is under new management and whose high standards have fallen in many ways. If you choose to go here, DO NOT put your valuables in their safes. You would be better off to choose another hotel.

Yelp
The room is nice. The pool upstairs is amazing. The outside is old and when you first pull up your like I booed this ? I'm Upset because Priceline has this labeled as a 4 Star hotel. It's a 3 at very best best. The food on the restaurant is gross they give you free breakfast but I ate one bite They charge you $35 for an extra friend in the room. Why do they dirty the room up more? Or friend came for just a few hours before we checked out and they demanded I payed the $. I explained to Miguel at front desk she just cane for a few hours and they made me pay . Again the room and rooftop are nice but the place is not worth it . It looks like the building should be knocked down and re built. Not a 4 Star I was lied too

Yelp
Good location, other than that, mediocre to poor facility and experience. There was no hot water during my entire stay. None of the gym cardio equipment worked. The room air conditioner didn't work properly and the hotel staff would enter the room when I left it to turn the air off. I complained about all of these items with no relief or resolution. Also, hotel does not allow you to charge items to the room even after checking in with a credit card. The hotel also asks guests to wear a ridiculous bracelet during the stay to receive the packaged breakfast without being re-charges. Front desk and concierge were unable or unwilling to help me find transportation to the airport without getting rip-off tourist prices.

Yelp
Really enjoyed how close it is to the downtown area--practically on 5th avenue. When checking in I was greeted with a cold wet towel and fruit drink, which was a blessing due to the harsh heat! The roof top pool is great and they tend to have pool parties with DJ's. Chill vibe, clean rooms and breakfast was very tasty. Highly recommend the chilaquiles for breakfast (they have a kick of spice). I would also recommend the micheladas here-yum!The only downfall was that the wifi was terrible...

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! It is absolutely beautiful and the staff are incredibly accommodating and so friendly! The rooms are really nice and the beds are very comfortable! We were in room 207 which was away from the street and it was super quiet. The roof top pool was incredible and the view is breathtaking! The food is really good and everything tastes really fresh! The cocktails are delicious too! Best margarita I had while on vacation was at the roof top bar! I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Playa Del Carmen! It's right in the center of everything downtown so there is so much to do! This is hands down the best hotel I have ever stayed at and I have done a lot of traveling! I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Awesome hotel in a great location!! Steps from the beach! Clean spacious rooms with huge comfy beds. City and ocean views. Amazing rooftop with pool and hot tub. Sandra is great and knowledgeable! Ask for her. Can't say enough wonderful things about this place!

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel and our loft room was very comfortable and it was nice to have the breakfast included. The staff were very friendly and I liked the pool area despite being a beach person! I would return for the the room but I'd be spending my money at the local taqueria and mix drinks in my room! That's where the good stuff ends! The bar at the pool is so expensive, the happy hour isn't that happy and the drinks are generally expensive ($10 a cocktail) and they're not good and be warned, tips are included. Next is the spa, so overpriced. They tried to charge me $70 for a mani-pedi by a very nice but very amateur technician!! I may be the stupid one to have a mani pedi in Mexico and I do know some spas can charge prices like this but we're talking really high end and this wasn't. To sum up I want to say that Just because something is expensive doesn't automatically means it's good! I'm in Mexico and I want to drink refreshing local beer and eat local simple food! You can do it and the place would be fantastic!

Yelp
I'm giving The Palm five stars because of the CUSTOMER SERVICE. As echoed in many of my reviews, this is what makes or breaks a business. If, as a business owner, you think differently: Good luck, because you'll need it. My stay at The Palm was quite pleasant. The rooms were great. I had a double suite, which I didn't ask for so it was doubly nice that I had so much space. The rooms are clean, spacious modern and well-planned. I had a living room, kitchen area and generously stocked mini-bar. I love when bathrooms are separated from the sinks and showers, as it was at this hotel. The bed was very comfortable and there were a lot of lighting choices. I like a lot of lighting choices; It's a thing for me. I LOVED the transparent showers in the bedroom. I was watching the news or listening to music while I showered since the big screen tv is within ear/eye-shot. Very cool. The only complaint I had was the water pressure in the showers. It could be improved but I found this to be a common occurrence in and around the Playa (Akumal, Tulum, etc) They serve a very generous breakfast, on-the-house, in the morning with egg scrambles or pancakes. I forget the name of our server but his service was impeccable. When I smoked a cigar one evening while working on my computer, he made sure all was well. Also, Abimuel, one of the employees in the lobby was extremely helpful getting my bags to my room. I insisted that I could do it myself (I pack light when I travel/one carry on) but he was insistent right back to escort me and my bag to my room anyway. Throughout my stay, Abi went above and beyond from restaurant recommendations to taxi information. He always had a smile on his face. The rooftop pool was my favorite. I can't put my finger on it but I very much liked the layout. It's a compact, petite space but that didn't bother me at all. I had a great time catching up on my tan there and bobbing about in the jacuzzi. Mind you, the water isn't hot and you wouldn't want it to be anyway. At one point it started raining and while everyone ran off I stayed put and enjoyed it. I mean, we're wet anyway right? Alberto was funny and attentive every time I visited la piscina. Thank you Palm Hotel for my relaxing stay. Your customer service really made the experience wonderful. I hope to come back and stay again soon. Room Tip: I prefer more peace and quiet so the courtyard, 3rd floor room was perfect for me. The street side can get a little loud.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of hosting a wedding Dec 2014 and the staff, hotel, everything was just simply wonderful. We worked closely with the events manager, Omar and he made sure all details were handled. I would stay here again and certainly have an event again!

Yelp
The Palm at Playa is the best! We have stayed here 4 times now and it has been amazing every time. The rooms are spacious, the property is clean, close to everything (but not loud), employees are helpful and very accommodating. Boutique hotel at its finest!

Yelp
This place is great, the rooms are very roomy, the staff very helpful, includes a delicious breakfast in the morning, is in the best location of Playa del Carmen in my opinion, great clubs, bars and restaurants very close by, if not across the street. And the rooftop, just amazing, great ocean views, great layout, lots of options for sunbathing, or staying out of the sun. Our server Nubia was very attentive and pleasant, great drinks, affordable prices, great food.

Yelp
Have been to playa Del Carmen twice (hope to make this a trip i take every year). I absolutely love this hotel - both of my stays have been here. Location - prime - a block away from the beach (barely). Around the corner from "5th avenue" where all the restaurants, bars are, but not noisy. Staff - so friendly and courteous. Starting from the front desk, to Sandra (she's amazing to book tours with but also makes sure your stay is perfect), pool/bar staff - you just feel so comfortable and taken care of. Rooms - very clean, very modern and stylish. Amenities - roof top pool is so pretty, Gym, breakfast in the morning is delish! Im very particular about hotels, and I just love this place!!

Yelp
Fabulous - will definitely return. We travel to Playa every year. For the first 9 or ten years, we typically stayed at one of the higher end all inclusives (Royal Hideaway, The Royal, Secrets, etc), but 5 years ago, we decided that we were missing too much of what Playa is all about, and started staying at smaller, boutique hotels in town. This year, we chose the Palm at Playa, and absolutely loved it. We hae a deluxe one bedroom suite and it was perfect, an as large as a typical one bedroom apartment. The room was well appointed and well maintained. As others have mentioned, the rooftop pool is gorgeous, and the food and drinks served there were well beyond what you would expect. The service all throughout the hotel - front desk, restaurant where breakfast was served (excellent complete breakfast as part of the room rate), staff at the pool, housekeepers - were uniformly attentive, polite, and never failed to go out of their way to make sure we were happy (which we were!). We will definitely come back to the Palm at Playa. One piece of advice: Shop aggressively for rates (i.e. Hotelscombined.com, Trivago.com, Kayak.com). Although the hotel advertises "guaranteed lowest rates," we were able to do far better with an online booking site. Our only complaints were relatively minor: occasional lapses in water pressure and wifi that was barely functioning. Neither of these would cause us not to return (which we will!)

Yelp
The Palm is exceptional in its service. Every single employee on the property is pleasant and helpful, and their interactions with guests are gracious and friendly in an effortless way. Lorena at the Roof (pool area) gets an honorable mention for her warmth and welcoming demeanor but all staff members make sure that you lack for nothing. The breakfast (included) is fantastic. All the ingredients are fresh and tasty and, again, the service is impeccable. The rooms are very well-planned. I was told by one of the staff members that the property was originally intended to be condos and that makes sense. Our room had a nice tv in the living room and another in the VERY comfortable bedroom. There were little surprises waiting in the room almost every day we were there. Sometimes they left very tasty chocolate, another time a towel swan. I had pills on my night table and once the room cleaning staff noticed it they started leaving a clean glass and a bottle of water on my night table so I wouldn't have to walk all the way over to the living room and get a bottle to take my meds. Come on! That's exceeding expectations for a very reasonably-priced hotel. I'm sure I'm forgetting something but I'll end this review by simply saying I wholeheartedly recommend The Palm at Playa.

Yelp
My 7th visit to this hotel. Awesome location, amazing amenities and great service so why change a wining formula?! And now with the new addition to the team, The lovely Sandra Lopez was so gracious and caring to all our needs. After work hours and without our request she left her dinner at a nearby restaurant and came back to the hotel just so she could help us with our travel arrangements the next morning. Seriously...?!

Yelp
This hotel definitely delivered. The rooms are spacious clean and modern. The rooftop pool cannot be beat. Very friendly and helpful staff. Particularly Sandra Lopez who helped plan a great free-form day trip to Tulum. I highly recommend this hotel.

Yelp
This is one of the bests hotels I've stayed in. Our room was fabulous- huge, beautiful shower, comfortable bed, extremely spacious, large balcony facing the fun nightlife of the main street. We paid less that expected because we had what was considered a "noisy room", since it faced the main street, but we went for New Years, so we didn't mind the noise. The rooftop bar and pool area is beautiful, great views, large, open and great service with delicious drinks. Their restaurant next door had fresh, delicious, and inexpensive food and drinks. All staff at hotel and restaurant was extremely nice and accommodating. We didn't have time for breakfast one day because we had an early tour and they offered box breakfast and boxed lunch to go... free. Loved this place!

Yelp
Very nice music and environment. The service is perfect. The menu contains a variety of food and drinks. The price is fair and a good value for the money. I totally recommend the hotel and the rooftop.

Yelp
You'll have an amazing stay here just like my family and I had. Supper nice staff, and so helpful. Both English and Spanish are used by all of the staff. If I ever come back to Playa del Carmen this is where I would stay once again. The breakfast is delicious, the hotel rooms are kept really clean, and the roof top pool is so fun with a great view. There's good AC, a cute little patio with a hammock, and a beach bag and towels for the trips to the beach or pool.

Yelp
Avoid the bar. Otherwise they'll steal from your credit card. Don't buy into their timeshare scam. Don't let their agents book tours or you'll get ripped off.
