We had a birthday party here. The staff were friendly and the food was tasty. We ordered a set menu due to the amount of guests but we felt the entrees didn’t quite feel like enough food for the $85 pp we paid. The food itself was delicious though. I’d come back for a regular dinner, maybe not as part of a large group. Staff were friendly!

We’ve walked past The Pantry countless times while strolling along Manly Beach, always admiring its prime location. This time, we finally decided to dine here for our wedding anniversary—and we couldn’t have chosen a better spot! The Pantry offers what I’d describe as casual fine dining, combining a relaxed yet refined atmosphere with an unbeatable beachfront setting. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place for a special occasion. The food did not disappoint. Every dish was cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and served in generous portions. The service was equally impressive—attentive, friendly, and efficient. While I would have loved a more extensive cocktail menu, this was a minor detail that didn’t take away from the overall experience. After our lovely dinner, we continued our tradition of strolling along Manly Beach, feeling completely satisfied and happy with our choice. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
The food we ordered didn't have the wow factor for what we were expecting but it was still good. A nice spot next to the beach. Must book in advance.

We were hoping to slip in for breakfast but we were too close to noon so we had some lunch fare. The drink selection was good but unfortunately my vegetarianism was a problem. Not too much on the menu for me but I did find a dish. Beautiful view of the waves and a really enticing decor theme. They did also suggest a tip.

Google
I didn’t have a booking, but they kindly gave me a table by the window, which I really appreciated. The service was friendly, the food was great, and the view was very beautiful!!! No wonder it has so many good reviews and such a high rating. I had a lovely time here and would definitely come back.

Google
We visited the Pantry this evening, the food was amazing and definitely worth 5 stars; however Killian and Augustine made it a 10star experience. A must visit when in Manly. Also despite the negative reviews around the prawn spaghetti... the waiters explained the dish well and it was as explained and delicious! If you are looking for a cheap prawn linguine then go elsewherez! If you are looking for a sophisticated dish then the Pantry is for you

Google
The view cannot be beat so I didn't have high expectations for the food but I was wrong. The grilled fish was outstanding, as were the vegetable sides and the cheese plate. Everyone working there was nice and attentive. Everything about my meal here was fantastic and I highly recommend it.

Google
Excellent little spot on manly beach. Service was good but not great as it was pretty crowded. Food was good though prices did reflect the touristy location. Still, it was worth a quick bite in a cool location. Drinks were on par cost wise with Sydney though the serving sizes were small. Margarita came in a shallow stemmed glass, maybe 8oz total? Great for a first timer in the area but probably not a repeat spot.

Yelp
I would give The Pantry 10 stars if I could. It is one of the best dining experiences I've had in my life. It's not fancy or Michelin starred or world renowned, but somehow it manages to find the perfect balance between beach casual and chic, while serving amazing food. We stumbled upon it and popped in for lunch after swearing we weren't hungry for a big lunch. Famous last words, right? We started with the caramel Ed garlic bread and piccolo burrata, both of which were amazing. I wanted to lick the plate but my husband gave me the side eye. Someone at the table next to us had the Prawn Salad, and it looked incredible, so we ordered that to split. The prawn salad is the best salad I have ever eaten, and I eat a lot of salads. There were so many flavors and textures and mouthfeels - the creamy avocado, the crispy salty bacon, the sweet tender shrimp, the light oily vinaigrette, the warm salty halloumi. This is salad GOALS. It was so good that we just went ahead and ordered another entree - the grilled barramundi. It was also delicious, the fish was perfectly cooked, the asparagus was tender but firm, the potatoes were crispy but creamy, and the tang of the goat cheese and sweet roasted tomatoes really made something magic. It was temping to get dessert, but we did stop to check out the breakfast menu on our way out. Also - as a pregnant person, I was so thrilled to see a decent list of mocktails! The Passionfruit Fauxjito was really good and tasted like a true cocktail. This perfect little beach restaurant is so unassuming from the outside, but is worth the stop for the gorgeous views, attentive service, and amazing food!

Yelp
The food was ok.. just. The service was as if we were an inconvenience with our plates being removed from our table whilst still eating. The ambience was bland, pretentious and not at all somewhere I'd like to spend money to be in again.. I'd rather have chosen to eat at kfc. At least there's a smile and they don't push you out the door

Yelp
If you work up an appetite on the ferry over to Manly, The Pantry is a decent restaurant to get your breakfast fix. It's expensive, because you're paying for the location and views, not just the food. I enjoyed the flat white and the plate that I got, a mushroom and prosciutto dish. It was definitely on the fancy side, but frankly, didn't blow me away. The servers were all friendly, but my dish took a pretty long time to come out. I'm usually pretty patient when dining out, but to wait around 20 minutes for a straightforward breakfast dish was not my favorite experience. Also, while I do think the servers were great, I really didn't appreciate the attitude of the hostess. I was dressed in gym clothes because I was walking the Manly-to-Spit trail right after breakfast. And while I appreciate that restaurants have standards for their clientele, I didn't appreciate the way I was greeted or approached, almost like I was offending the hostess by daring to set foot in this place. If you're located in a tourist hot spot, with a unique location that creates buzz on tourist websites, I'd say it's fair to expect tourists coming to your restaurant. And, at 9am on a Thursday, when almost every table was empty, maybe be a little more lenient and less judgmental on how someone is dressed when they want to spend money at your establishment. But that's just me.

Yelp
It was awesome! The people were very kind and welcoming. The food was out of this world! It was so savoury! My favourite was the prawns and crab pasta, and the scallops were outstanding. The vibe was very cozy and calming too!!

Yelp
Delish delish food. Sit at the bar and watch the waves as you eat your meal. Well worth the ferry trip from Sydney to Manly just to dine here. The eggplant was fabulous.

Karen R.

Yelp
I had a Delicious meal of roasted chicken. The service was really good and quick. The location is amazing. I didn't book a table so I wasn't at ocean side but I could still see the beautiful view from my table. Thanks for the recommendation yelp!

Yelp
Over priced, the staff is a bit rude, and just ok food. The view is the main draw and the only reason to go there.

Yelp
This restaurant has the perfect location! It's on the actual beach. Gorgeous views. It's quite pricey but makes sense for the location. We had the garlic prawns and they were amazing! Also had the scallops and peppers with goat cheese. Those were great as well. We each ordered an aperitif - a spritz and it was made just like in Italy! The staff was also very nice. Only issue was I called while laying on the beach and they said there were no openings until after 3:30 but then I walked up 10 minutes later and they sat us right away. Still recommend For a small lunch or snack.

Yelp
A small cozy restaurant right on Manly beach allowing for gorgeous sea views and great people watching entertainment...and if that's not enough, excellent food and drinks. Not surprising, this place is usually packed, so make reservations. Window seats are two seaters only but the space is small enough that if you need the bigger tables you still get to enjoy views. Service is fast and attentive. For drinks I had the spicy melon cooler which had Gin, Melon liqueur, lime, chili, sugar and soda water. Delicious! For my entree, I had the fried calamari which was lightly battered and flavorful. Main course, I chose the pan seared red snapper with potatoes, asparagus, artichokes, on a bed of mixed greens and goat cheese. The fish was perfectly seared on the outside allowing for a crisp skin while keeping the fish juicy and flavorful inside. All the other elements came together in a beautiful combination of flavors making this a perfectly light lunch on the beach. Lastly, for dessert I enjoyed the expresso and dark chocolate mousse with fresh berries and candies nuts - an excellent ending to a perfect meal! This place is not to be missed if you're in Manly!

Yelp
Came here on a Monday afternoon at around 2PM. There wasn't any wait and we got seated really quick. The staff is very friendly and professional. We ordered pork belly and chilli & garlic prawns for starters. It was delicious, the prawns had lime, butter and garlic in it, that taste was great. We ordered Salmon and Angus Beef Burger for mains and the dark chocolate & espresso dessert. I ordered the mulled wine, but it tasted off. Probably the worst mulled wine I've ever had. However, the view is beautiful, it looks over the beach...

Yelp
Just LOVELY & literally on the beach at Manly!!! Very quaint (yes, small) with original wood floors, brick walls and FAB OCEAN VIEWS!!! On a nice day all the windowed doors are opened so your eating on the beach WITHOUT sand in your food. My gf and I each ordered the Prawn salad with fried prosciutto, asparagus, goat cheese tossed in a light dressing was terrific. The Hubs had a charcuterie plate with breads, cold cuts, pate' and such which he said was VERY good! We followed up with cappuccinos~ OH LA LA, just a GR8, GR8 meal overall. Not sure if bookings/reservations are accepted~

Yelp
Perfect views of Manly Beach. The Barramundi grilled on a bed of greens with roasted tomatoes and asparagus and goat cheese was delicious.

Yelp
The Pantry catering to both locals and visitors Manly Beach. So close the water is less than 50 meters from the restaurant. In fact you will not find a closer dining spot unless you bring a picnic blanket and packed lunch. The Pantry with its rustic interior is set up for you to comfortably enjoy a meal whilst taking in the scenic Manly beach. Not at all pretencious, the staff are friendly and attentive adding the relaxed Australian manner to this beachside dining experience. We were here on a nice Autumn night with the soothing sound of the waves lapping against the shoreline. Why not order a drink with, a great range of beer spirits and cocktails, many classic cocktails on the menu with the Pantry adding their own touch beach side touch to the name of the cocktails. The cocktail of choice this evening was The Pantry version of an old fashioned named The Old South Steyne , South Steyn being the area in Manly which the restaurant is located. The perfect drink start for this occasion. A nice traditional old fashioned made using Makers Mark. The dinner menu has many options including tapas/small plates and mains, perfect for a relaxed catch up by the beach or special occasion. With a fair amount of deliberation the tapas/small plate menu took our fancy. With many tasty options available top of our list being at this beachside location was the seared yellow fin tuna served with a warm salad, a great dish using quality fresh tuna. The tasty garlic and chilli prawns served with a warm French baguette to soak up the garlic chilli oil also a good option. Ordering from the tapas menu we went with some classics being the grilled spanish chorizo, the charcutterie board a meat lovers dream and another seaside favourite being the grilled octopus. The beer battered zuccini flowers were ordered as we felt we were lacking in vegetables and lets face it, these crisp fried morsels are delicious. To finish we browsed the drink menu as well as the dessert menu and no better way to finish the meal than ordering a digestive or nice single malt from their great selection of whiskies and pairing it with one of their amazing desserts. The Laphraoig 15 perfectly matching with the rich chocolate mousse. My dining companion for the evening ordering the cheesecake, which I was informed was another great choice.

Yelp
Best burger ever. I ordered a hamburger, it was the cheapest thing on the menu at $38 and some change. It was good. Worth the wait too. The fries were thick and hot. My only complaint was the lack of condiments.

Yelp
Loved the food, drinks, ambiance, and especially the view! I really enjoyed the white sangria, croquettes, and on a separate trip the mushroom and gruyere tart and smashed avocado and ricotta for breakfast. And it really is the best view in Manly!
google avatar

Yelp
Very nice sit down restaurant right on the beach. Great views of the beach and ocean from almost every table in the restaurant. Be sure and sit at the window if you can. Service was attentive and friendly throughout the entire meal. Had the French roast and it was amazing. Portions are good, not too much and not too little. If you are walking the beach and want a good meal stop here.
google avatar

Yelp
Although very pricey, the food was amazing! I love the juice! The food was so good! I absolutely love the Pantry. I think it's good because what they do they do very well, they have choices and great friendly staff! I'll definitely be back!!!

Yelp
Went there for birthday dinner. Special atmosphere, delectable food. Arrived 15mina earlier than reservation but staff was very accommodating and still got us a really nice table. Yummy cocktails, delicious fresh seafood as well as steak dishes. Staff were very friendly and helpful in recommneding choices. The view overlooks the ocean at night and made our dinner very special. Price were very reasonable for what we received.

Yelp
Had a really lovely brunch. With brilliant service. The foods are well designed when it comes to taste and the portion sizes are good. Will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Our party had a great meal and drinks in the afternoon here. Great views of the beach and the restaurant is busy but not too noisy. Enjoyed the ploughmans plank, the fried fish and chips, the barramundi. Had some nice white wine and light beer. Servers were smartly dressed curtious. Would come back again. Visited in Dec 2019.

Yelp
Great location, good service and food. My only complaint was I was dining solo and the server asked me if I could be done in an hour. Maybe it's uncommon in Australia to eat alone but being from the US it's a common occurrence and questions like that are never asked. Other than that, very charming place with excellent ocean views. My salad was delicious.
google avatar

Melanie S.

Yelp
Food and drinks are almost as good as the view! Stopped here for dinner with my boyfriend while visiting Manly. We came on a Thursday night and had no problem getting a seat right next to the window for sunset. The staff was friendly and attentive. I ordered the scallop salad and my boyfriend ordered the pork belly. My scallops were slightly overcooked, but everything else was delicious. Reasonable prices. Would come back!

Yelp
Service prompt and we arrived at the end of the lunch run... I was devastated I missed out on the Vension Wellington as this had already been sold out (so a favorite with a price tag of $44)... The venue is right on the beach, high priced meals but beautifully cooked. Just the mains for us but we did leave nicely full.
google avatar

Yelp
Found this on Yelp and it didn't disappoint. Amazing views right on the water and the Eggs Benedict (with ham) was delicious. Coffee not as hot as I would have liked but tasted good. Buzzing atmosphere. Friendly service
google avatar

Toni C.

Yelp
This place is right on the beach, the view is perfection!! Wait for a table by the window, it's worth it!! The food is good too. I had the eggs benedict with salmon and avocado and it was lovely. I enjoyed a mimosa and watched the surfers. Can't believe it's winter and this pretty out! There aren't a lot of tables in the place but if you can get in, it's not touristy food, it's good. I would go back! The service was ok, nothing fabulous but not bad either, the food came out pretty quick.
google avatar

Leslie B.

Yelp
This is a MUST if you're anywhere near Sydney. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was even better. You are literally in the middle of the beach in what seams to be an old life guard station. Went for breakfast and everything was cooked to perfection.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Amazing food!!! We had the atlantic salmon, potato gnocchi, scallop risotto, classic pavlova and chocolate cheesecake. Everything was incredible and the restaurant had a very nice ambiance with beautiful view of Manly beach. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Kent S.

Yelp
Place was lovely. Food was tasty and presentation was a bonus. Staff was friendly. I suggest the frittata with chorizo.
google avatar

Dennis S.

Yelp
Great setting, although you miss most of that with tables away from the windows. Really nice chicken salad, although I've never had a chicken salad that wasn't cut up and mixed with something. Theirs was two small pieces of dark meat, baked in a nice sauce and served hot. It was on top of the other "salad" items: cherry tomatoes, capers, a light sauce, and big chunks of fresh buffalo mozzarella.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Great location right on the beach. We ordeed the fish and chips and scallop risotto. The fish was very lightly battered and quality was excellent some of the best I've had. The chips were large potato wedges and the tartar sauce was good as well. Scallops were great and risotto full of flavor.

Jess A.

Yelp
If there is no wait, don't pass up on this adorable restaurant situated right on Manly Beach. The service was excellent and fast, the views were incredible and the food was 10/10. The cappuccino wasn't the best I've ever had but it was still very good. Totally worth stopping by for brunch.
google avatar

Jorge Z.

Yelp
Great food, great service, great view. The seafood spaghetti was unbeatable. Worth trying some of the tapas as well.

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Fresh fish and veggies with a great view of Manly Beach! I can't complain..the food and service was both very good. I arrived on a weekend just before noon. It started to get packed just as I was leaving. You know you're at the right restaurant when there are a bunch of people waiting to eat shortly after the place opens.
google avatar

Greg A.

Yelp
We came here for brunch and really enjoyed ourselves. Generous flavoursome food and attentive and prompt service. The prices are quite reasonable. The view is magical. The place is very popular so my advice is book ahead.

Jay P.

Yelp
Excellent a must if you come to manly beach fresh fish bottle wine and desert and then beach all in one day!!!!
google avatar

Kaitlin H.

Yelp
You absolutely can't beat this view, and the food is just as spectacular. The Pantry is the only restaurant that sits on the boardwalk, boasting the best views in Manly. On a warm night, the windows are opened, allowing the salty sea breeze to add to the ambiance. Dinner here is an absolute treat and definitely on the expensive side. For starters I recommend the scallops and the rocket/pear/prosciutto salad, while sipping on one of their delicious cocktails. For the main, my favorite is the gnocci, however I also love the rack of lamb and the fish special. The only downside is that there is sometimes a lack of quality service. The manager who used to run The Pantry I believe has left, and the service is not as quality without her.
google avatar

Otto U.

Yelp
Best place on the beach.... hands down. Staff are amazing, view is amazing, as well as food and drink. I did go on a week day around 3 pm, so I'm sure timing matters.
google avatar

Joss K.

Yelp
Try the plough mans platter! With wine, of course. Beautiful setting, on the water. We began with tasty glasses of pinot noir, and moved onto a shared luncheon including the ploughman's platter--a beautiful assortment of charcuterie, sharp cheddar, and a wonderful duck terrine. This was accompanied by a freshly baked mini baguette, which while perfectly delicious, was not quite enough for the amount of platter goodies. In addition, we shared the fried calamari and rocket, with a lemon mayonnaise--again, delicious. Here, you get what you pay for, in a good way. While The Pantry is not a bargain, they deliver exactly what they should for the price point and the location. Truly worthy of a lingering lunch.

Yelp
A wonderful eatery right on the beach at Manly. We had brunch and I have to say it was one of the best meals I've had in Sydney: A mushroom tart, with greens asparagus and a poached egg. Freshly squeezed orange juice, fantastic coffee, and a sublime experience watching the surfers out the window.
google avatar

Britt B.

Yelp
I enjoyed a light lunch here and while the meal was good, the view is definitely the most delicious thing about The Pantry. Gorgeous views of Manly Beach, you can spend your meal watching surfers on the crashing waves and people watching beach goers. I enjoyed the caprese salad, which was good, but a bit heavy on the basil; the balsamic was applied in a bead like form which was unique and very good! The charcuterie is definitely a standout of the menu. The wagyu breasola was fantastic, though I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't served with anything - I ordered the daily bread basket to accompany it but felt that you should get a bit more than a cutting board of meat with the order. One other tip to keep in mind, I was there on a Saturday at about 11:20 AM and had to wait, as the kitchen closed between breakfast and lunch (11:30 - 12). I would go back for the views alone!
google avatar

Leah Y.

Yelp
I went to The Pantry with my friends for our lunch break and we had a wonderful experience. There was a beautiful view of the beach and the interior was chic and clean. We shared a few of the tapas and entrees. I highly recommend the Chilli & Garlic Prawns! They were so savory and delicious! I also really enjoyed their Fried Calamari as well. The staff was also very attentive and personable. Overall I highly recommend for lunch and I have heard that it is a beautiful breakfast spot as well!
google avatar

Philippe E.

Yelp
Venue has nice view over the ocean. We were 4 and decided to share some platters. We were not disappointed. Was looking around the other tables to see what people ordered and all dishes looked yummy and with enough quantity.
google avatar

Yelp
Great wine selection to go with the perfect view of manly beach. I had originally planned to eat at a craft brewery near the ferry, but after walking on the beach I saw this place and couldn't resist. I was lucky to get a seat only because a small group had canceled at the last moment, opening up six bar stools at the large window, overlooking the beach. That was perfect. I had three glasses of wines and they were all above average. My favorite was probably the Vasse Felix Cab Sauv from Margaret River. Rich and full bodied without being spicy. I ordered roasted mushrooms as an accompaniment and that worked well. The vegetarian options were few, but the view and wine list made up for it.

David K.

Yelp
Outstanding staff. Perfect balance of friendly and attentive. Tapas starters all very nice - especially crochets and pork. Our main courses all outstanding. Duck 5 star / steak 5 star / lamb 5 star / risotto special 3 star - lacking salt (easily sorted) and a bit unusual having a whole chicken breast rather than diced chicken. But still good. Mash potato absolutely perfect. Chocolate dessert - 4 star. Ambiance- relaxed and quite outstanding view of beach. Our UK guests just loved it. Now one of my favourites in Sydney. Keep up the great work.

Yelp
Just a perfect place! Me, my wife and toddler son went here for an early dinner and we were really surprised. The service was excellent, food very good, and the view marvelous. We have now been in Manly for one month and this is the best yet! The service is absolutely fantastic. Thanks for a perfect evening!

Leslie E.

Yelp
We stopped in here for lunch on Tuesday for our "beach day" in Sydney. we shared a bottle of bubbles and started with the burrata. it was definitely tapa-sized, so we got a bread basket to go with it. my friend had the prawn spaghetini and i had the entree scallops and a half dozen rock oysters. Everything was AMAZING!!! our waitress was a sweet lady who had just moved to AUS from London 5 weeks prior. she was very friendly and helpful!
google avatar

Emily J.

Yelp
I celebrated a colleague's birthday at The Pantry and it was a great place for our large group. We all shared an assortment of appetizers - I would recommend the calamari and whatever seasonal salad is available and started of the evening with a bottle (or two!) of a lovely Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. Some of our group ordered martinis, which were honestly some of the best I have had! I like mine extra dirty and was not disappointed. For entrees, I kept mine light with the quinoa and king crab salad; it was incredibly flavorful and went perfectly with the Sauvignon Blanc as both shared the same citrusy notes. The birthday girl also got the salad and we were both very happy! Thankfully we all saved room for dessert- it was amazing! We got a few different ones but I loved the banana bread pudding one-it was an adorable presentation in a mason jar as well! The one thing I we ordered that I did not care for was the kangaroo appetizer- it was almost like a kangaroo foie gras with an interesting jelly as well. Not our cup of tea but happy we tried it at least! The Pantry has such a lovely atmosphere as well as delicious food. Nestled directly on Manly Beach, the restaurant looks like an oversized beach hut and upon entering I was surprised how large it actually was. Tables are close together and there is definitely a communal feel. I was there at night after dark but I can only imagine how amazing the view is during the day! I loved the wine bottles lining every wall- it made for a cool 3D "wallpaper" and a good conversation starter for our wino group. The service was excellent- our server was very attentive and helpful when it came to choosing wine and food. Overall a wonderful experience and I would certainly recommend making the ferry trip to Manly from Sydney just to eat here- worth it!

Paul C.

Yelp
We arrived for dinner but we didn't have a reservation. The wait staff was able to accommodate us and gave us a great table next to the window. The view is amazing and the restaurant is right on the beach. You have lots of choices on the menu all of which looked amazing. I would highly recommend this restaurant for the food and atmosphere.

Terry B.

Yelp
I ordered a latte long before several other tables and they all got their drinks 15 minutes before me. I was also told my Beach front table would be ready in a few moments...it never happened. The location is amazing, my wait time for a latte was 25 minutes (restaurant was 50% vacant) and my food was hot and tasty...even though I ordered a vegetarian breakfast dish and mine came with sausage.
