Yelp
Pantry Restaurant was our first food stop in Santa Fe, and it certainly lived up to the hype. We enjoyed it so much that we returned for breakfast the next day.
The restaurant is a small but charming and cozy place adorned with beautiful New Mexico landscape paintings and photography. The owner was amiable and accommodating, making us feel very welcome.
**Dinner:**
Our first visit was for dinner. Hubby ordered the steak and enchiladas with refried pinto beans and rice. I ordered the fish tacos, which also came with rice and beans. We were both impressed with the taste and portions of the food. The flavors were rich and satisfying, and the portions were just right.
**Breakfast:**
The next morning, we returned for breakfast. I went with the traditional breakfast meal that included two eggs, two meats, and grits. My hubby got the traditional breakfast with pork adovada and black coffee. We also shared a cinnamon roll.
**Thoughts:**
The traditional breakfast was excellent; nothing was bland. The Adovada was terrific--if you're like us and don't know what Adovada is, it's New Mexico-style pork with red chiles. We absolutely loved it, and I ended up finishing whatever my husband didn't. We would definitely order it again and share it.
This place is doable for gluten-free and dairy-free folks.
**Additionally, we started our meal with chips and salsa, which came with homemade guac and queso. The guac was delicious, and the salsa had the perfect consistency--not too runny, with nice chunks of ingredients. Though I didn't try the queso, my hubby said he loved it. They really should bottle that guac!
**Shout out to the hard-working staff:** They were incredibly attentive, refilling our drinks as soon as they were finished and clearing away our dishes promptly. When they weren't assisting us, they were busy cleaning, sweeping, and tidying up the windows and tables.
