27 Best Hotels in Madrid

"Don’t blink or you’ll miss the unassuming façade of The Pavilions Madrid, housed in a residential-style building in what appears to be a business neighborhood. Only a picture window separates arriving guests from the reception, and the lobby is nothing more than marble lounge with contemporary art. It’s almost as if this were a chic gallery rather than hotel. Upstairs, rooms are spacious with plenty of local character, including fabrics depicting famous Madrid landmarks and framed paintings and prints of Spanish sites. Be sure to check out the Technogym-equipped fitness center and rooftop terrace and bar. Be sure to peruse the artwork throughout the hotel, which is on loan on a rotating basis from the Alvaro Alcazar Gallery in Madrid. (It's all for sale.) You can steer clear from the tourist crowds with a stay at this compact, artsy hotel."

The Pavilions Madrid

"Why did this hotel catch your attention? What's the vibe? Don’t blink or you’ll miss the unassuming façade of The Pavilions Madrid, housed in a residential-style building in what appears to be a business neighborhood. Only a picture window separates arriving guests from the reception, and the lobby is nothing more than marble lounge with contemporary art. It’s almost as if this were a chic gallery rather than hotel. What's the backstory? Once filled with one or two-bedroom residential studios, the building since been converted to a boutique hotel that seems to enjoy its hushed presence in the market. Already a favorite among loyal business guests, Pavilions is well situated for corporate events. Yet nearby Colón and Paseo de la Castellana make it a good choice for vacationers, too. Tell us all about the accommodations. Any tips on what to book? Rooms are spacious with plenty of local character, including fabrics depicting famous Madrid landmarks and framed paintings and prints of Spanish sites. There are also ample and well-placed power outlets, snazzy high-tech amenities like Bluetooth-enabled stereos, and, in the bathroom, glamorous Hollywood lighting. Views are the weak point here; most rooms either face an internal courtyard or the bureaucratic office building out front. Is there a charge for Wi-Fi? Thee WiFi is fast and free. Drinking and dining—what are we looking at? Chef Guillermo Salazar's Guillermina serves modern Mediterranean cuisine, including breakfast (part of all room rates). Lunch and dinner include dishes like octopus with kimchi and Thai seasoning, steak tartare with accompaniments, and lamb stew with kale and black olives. And the service? The service is personalized; turndown includes chocolates and bottled water. What type of travelers will you find here? Guests from around the world will find this designer operation intriguing. Eavesdrop at the bar, and you’ll pick up interesting morsels about art, theater, shopping, and politics. What about the neighborhood? Plaza de Colón and Paseo de la Castellana are major thoroughfares, and Platea, a popular dining option converted from an old theater, is only a few blocks away. Any other hotel features worth noting? Be sure to check out the Technogym-equipped fitness center and rooftop terrace and bar. Be sure to peruse the artwork throughout the hotel, which is on loan on a rotating basis from the Alvaro Alcazar Gallery in Madrid. (It's all for sale.) Bottom line: Why should we stay here? You can steer clear from the tourist crowds with a stay at this compact, artsy hotel." - Ramsey Qubein

Casa Almagro by The Pavilions Hotels & Resorts (Madrid, Spain) 22 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Spain’s got plenty of homegrown hotel talent, but right here in Madrid the Hong Kong–based Pavilions group makes a strong impression. Casa Almagro manages to be both central and a little bit reserved, thanks to a location on a side street just off the Plaza de Colón. And while there are bigger and more opulent luxury hotels in the Spanish capital — the Casa Almagro tops out at 28 rooms and suites — there’s little to find fault with in the experience here." - Tablet Hotels

Google
Casa Almagro Madrid was a serendipitous find after searching the web for over a month. Reading about the hotel and what they had to offer was exactly what we were looking for, we were hooked. Intimate, quiet, exacting, low key yet elegant, Euro Asian influence, service, attention to detail, and its over all aesthetic was the drawing point. The seamless experience began from the moment we booked our 7 nights thru the hotel website, the response was immediate and courteous. We knew the location was top but we did not know that the hotel is located right next to the Ministry of the Interior. This for us was a big safety plus due to the presence of "Guardia Civils" along the entire block. Everything that mattered to us was within walking distance, church, restaurants, shopping, even the Prado was a good 30 minute walk, etc. All the staff if I can remember by name, Alona, Jeselle, Oscar, Carmen, Julio, Diego were welcoming. If you are looking for a quiet place you can call home after a long and busy day, then Casa Almagro would be it. We were so pleased!!

Google
The location was excellent. Safe, walkable, and surrounded by plenty of shops and restaurants. One of the highlights of my stay was meeting Javier during check in. I had lost my luggage upon arrival, and he was incredibly kind and helpful. The rest of the staff were also lovely to interact with, making our stay much more comfortable. The only minor drawback was 10 plus unlabeled light switches, which could be a bit confusing. That said, the room was spotless, the shower pressure was fantastic, and the bedding was very comfortable. Overall, a great stay!

Perfect little hotel! Central location, huge comfy bed, black out curtains and amazing power shower. À la Carte breakfast menu with fresh orange juice and choice of coffees served in a bright, open atrium. Friendly staff too. Just what we needed.

This is a great hotel if you want to be in the beautiful neighborhood of Salamanca and out of the hustle and bustle of the center. It’s quiet and very safe (guardia civil are stationed on each end of the block due to a government building on the street). Rooms have room darkening shades, super strong water pressure, spacious bathrooms, comfortable beds and good a/c. Coffee/water bar in the lobby every day but Sunday. Walking distance to two metro stations, the closest one, Colon, not a direct line to Sol (centro) but you can quickly change lines. Great walking to the high end shops on Serrano, plaza de Colon, and a little further to Banco de España and Chueca. Wonderful stay

Google
Very nice boutique hotel. The only downside is that they don’t have any kind of service besides the breakfast. But for the rest I had a very nice stay.

Google
Excellent stay at Casa Almagro. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, my business trip here was just perfect. Sure recommended for a couple of night in the heart of Madrid.

This is my second time staying in this hotel. The location is amazing to check out Madrid and to shop. The bed and the shower pressure is divine. This time around, I lost my earring in the sink and the staff was incredible to make sure to call maintenance to help me find it. I was very thankful. I also needed recommendation in a private tour with my teenager daughter last minute during a long weekend. They made sure to make it happen. I highly recommend this property.

This hotel is a hidden gem in one of the best areas of Madrid. It’s centrally located yet remarkably quiet, thanks to the presence of government buildings and security on the street. We booked two standard rooms—one facing the interior and the other facing the street. I strongly recommend avoiding the interior-facing rooms, as they are quite narrow, have small bathrooms, and receive little natural light. In contrast, the exterior-facing room felt much more spacious, brighter, and upscale. The good news is that both rooms had fantastic showers with excellent water pressure. Amenities are quite limited. Breakfast is continental only, and there was no restaurant available during my stay. Although they do have parking onsite, it's incredibly difficult to get in and out of so for those with even slightly larger cars, beware. Service was decent, though it didn’t feel particularly warm. The staff was courteous but a few lacked a genuine sense of hospitality, in my opinion. That said, we paid under €200 per night, which is an incredible deal given the location and overall quality of the room.

Great hotel. Very convenient location to many metros. Quiet little street. Easy to walk all over the city. Friendly welcoming staff. The rooms are incredibly quiet and the water pressure in the shower is fantastic. Thank you!
