We had coffee and morning tea downstairs. I was being a hater at first because there were some unusual menu items but they were all very tasty and the ambience was great. Would recommend if you are in the area

I went to their cafe a couple of months ago. I still remember the owners being very nice to me and my friend. We ordered two slices of cakes and Chai Latte. The cozy vibe and the sunny light filtering through the windows that day, together with the homemade cakes, really turned this adventure of mine in a good memory.

It’s my first home in Japan, and everything feels cozy the moment I step in.🧘🏻‍♀️The place is exceptional since it’s located in the Shinsekai district. This is my first time staying at a hostel, but I didn’t worry about the cleanliness because they always have staff cleaning the entire room. Shoutout to them for their meticulous care! 🙇🏻‍♀️ The staff are all so welcoming, even though I’m quite introverted. Thank you to them for trying to communicate in English to cater to our needs, day or night. 🙏🏻 🫶🏼 I also had no trouble conversing with my roommates from overseas; they’re all friendly. Thank you, everyone, for making my first experience in Japan so welcoming. 🥺🫶🏼💜 P.S. I regret not buying from their café and tasting their coffee. 😩

This must be the most cozy, enjoyable coffee place I have been during my Japan trip. Super friendly staff and uniquely designed cafe with very chill atmosphere.

Did not stay here, but went here on a whim for a coffee and a sandwich after a long day. It was one of my favorite places we went to in Osaka. The staff were so, so nice. They have a nice selection of records on sale and after browsing them I chatted with one of their patrons, who recommended I check out Yumi Arai’s earlier records. I did not end up buying the record the nice man recommended me, and I regret it deeply, because I checked it out once back at my hotel and it’s since become one of my favorite albums of all time. The album was “MISSLIM” by Yumi Arai. I’ll always think of The Pax and my amazing trip to Japan when I play it.

So impressed. The welcome. The staff. The location. The room. The BUNK!!! Okay I’m writing this review because of how amazing the bunks are. The thoughtful touches… Somebody clearly thought about this. They really put themselves in the guests’ shoes here. So much organization. Private curtains. Window. Little shelving unit with 3 shelves. Room for bottles. Lamp. Power outlet. Mirror. Laundry hanger. Lockbox. Hook at entrance. 3 hooks along wall. 2 coat hangers. Side area for extra storage. All within the bunk. It feels so luxurious. Communal bathroom sink area in adjoining door. Separate 1. Urinal 2. Toilet 3. Shower rooms within adjoining room. I love it! Only thing is that it was very uncomfortably warm at night. There was no breeze the night I stayed there so was difficult to sleep. If traveling during warmer months I recommend buying a cheap fan at one of the many nearby electronics stores to plug in by your bed.

The location is perfect! Also the room is sooo clean! I love the wooden design of the hostel, and the record design. The staff are so friendly that explains the space well and introduces me the spot when I chat with them. It’s recommended to book directly on their website which you get cheaper price!🙌🏻

Yelp
I wanted to try a new hostel on my last night in Osaka so I booked a night at The Pax when planning my trip. I had been here before to meet with some friends and we hung downstairs in the cafe. I liked the vibe enough then to try it out. Located in Shinsekai right next to Tsutenkaku Tower so you can't miss it. Shinsekai is a cool area to explore. Some may find it seedy but I think it's worthwhile. Some of the best kushikatsu (deep fried skewers) is in this area as well as Spa World. Shinsekai was the happening spot before focus went towards Dotonbori. Fun fact: Shinsekai was built to emulate Paris (Eiffel Tower) and Coney Island New York. There's a few train stations less than 10 minutes away. Shin-Imamiya probably being the one you'll use most to get around Osaka as well as the Nankai Line. Back to The Pax! Downstairs serves as a cafe, bar, and RECORD STORE! How cool is that?! Lots of seating arrangements and you can play any of the records on their record player. On some days they sell vintage clothing outside of the store front. Just an overall trendy vibe. There's even a slide in the lobby. Just be careful using it. It pretty sleek and you go flying down. There's a couple more floors of rooms above and each have their bathroom/wash area. Only downside I see is that there was one shower stall on my floor (idk about upstairs). However, it didn't seem to be a problem during my stay and we all showered when we wanted to. The bunks are very nice! An actual mattress to sleep on, a shelf to organize your things and a locker for your valuables. I like The Pax a lot. They also have events on certain days as well as live music in their bar. Perfect for any traveler to mingle with other travelers and locals. I'd recommend if you're someone who likes to stay in different hostels throughout your travels to experience different parts of that respective city. Namba Station is just one stop over and your access to endless dining, shopping, and partying. But more so than any of the above mentioned, I enjoyed the staff. Hanna checked me in and was very helpful and offered lots of advice for me. I had been to Osaka a few times so she was able to give me recommendations from a locals perspective. Thank you Pax for a cool chill last night in Japan!

Yelp
My Husband and I took our honeymoon to Japan and we were able to travel to many cities and towns. Since fancy expensive hotels aren't our thing, and we love meeting new people from all over, we love staying at hostels. We happen to find The Pax prior to our trip and booked immediately. We were very please with the reviews we had read prior and it looked like a fun, hip, and energetic hostel. Fast forward, we are now back at home and we can't help but to think about the Pax often and how wonderful of a time we had! Reminiscing of when we first walked in the doors, we were greeted with smiles and such amazing hospitality. I can't rave enough about The Pax and how much we enjoyed our stay. Our favorite aspect were the amazing staff. Hiro, Shin, and so many others were so very kind and welcoming. They even took time out of their work schedule to mingle and really get to know us. It made you want to stay friends with them forever! The sleeping arrangements were comfortable and I felt safe and secure in our shared quarters. People were respectful and everything felt clean and organized. If you like adventure, wonderful people, hip and hippy-like environment, then stay here. My husband and I will be back and can't wait to walk through The Pax doors again :) Oh!!!! and one of the many perks are the live shows they do in their lounge area! Talk about awesome musicians and energy!! We miss you Pax!!! Raina and AJ
