A Detailed Paris Itinerary for 3-5 Days (Updated 2025)

"I recommend The People hostel for its fantastic chimney lounge and rooftop space; it’s one of my favorite hostels in Paris and a common meetup spot when I host gatherings in the city." - Matthew Kepnes

I had room for 4 girls. The location is great - it’s close to Bastille and Norte dame, the metro is 3 mins of walking. It was comfy to get from Charles de Gaulle airport and the go to the airbus to reach Beauvais airport too. Staff is friendly. There’re groceries around and wending machine in the lobby. Kitchen is packed, but doesn’t have teapot. Beds are comfy. I’m 171 cm and it was enough space for me. Beds are packed with curtains, shelve and socket. There’s one bathroom per room, but there’re more in each floor. Hotel cafes about environment, but it has only one small recycling bin in the lobby. Cmon, add at least one bin to the kitchen. Otherwise, it looks like pretending being nature-careful.

I stayed at the People Paris Marais Location for a solo trip for 3 nights. I did not select the in-room bathroom option, but the shared bathroom was well mantained throughout my stay. I booked early and regretted this as the price fell after my cancelation window. I would stay here again as I really enjoyed the location and proximity to the metro line. There is keycard required for the elevator and each room so I felt very safe staying here. I also enjoyed my encounters with the funny and kind staff. Check-in was a smooth process and they assisted with setting up my digital metro card. Most people kept to themselves while staying here, so it was not a very social hostel. They have good services - rental hairdryer - luggage lockers and a small kitchen with a large fridge. The price for towel rental is reasonable at 5€. They have a breakfast option, however I would skip this for a local bakery in the area. I would note that there is not a close grocery store or pharmacy, so I recommend planning ahead if you are planning to cook your own meals.

Decent hostel in a fun area. If I were to compare the location to a place in NYC I’d say it’s like Williamsburg. Hostel felt safe and clean. We had a private bathroom in 8 person suite. It made the morning a bit tricky with only one toilet and sink. Linens and pillow were clean. Easy to get back to at night as a solo female traveler. I liked it enough but wouldn’t stay again.

I am currently staying at the hostel and I have to say it is just not worth the cost for what you get. I am a solo traveler and have stayed in a lot of small yet amazing hostels and this is a pretty huge yet lackluster one. Staying until the 1st but I would’ve left by now if I was able to get a refund. Great location but no laundry on site, PUSH BUTTON SHOWERS (30 sec), slow WiFi where I have to leave to do work. Solid breakfasts and clean but bathrooms are down the halls. Not the worst but there are so many other local hostels in this area…..may be worth it with a private room but I’m not sure. Generally unimpressed.

My stay was for 8 nights in December 2025 for a 8 person mixed dorm. Starting with some of the positives from my experiences, it was easy to reach from CDG airport using directions from their booking confirmation email. The location is nice because it’s close to the metro. The main bathrooms in the hallway were always well maintained, as were the rooms themselves. It felt very safe because you needed a keycard to access the rooms and the main bathrooms, as well as access to the building itself after a certain hour at night. There was reception staff 24/7 and they seemed generally kind and helpful. As for negatives— No check-in before 3pm (unless you would like to pay an extra €15), and there will be a queue in the lobby at that time. No free luggage storage before or after check-in, but you can use their luggage lockers downstairs (even more money). The rooms have very small chests or cabinets provided to you for storage, they will fit maybe a coat, shoes, and a small backpack. There is no place for your large bag or suitcase, so everyone will just leave their bags around the room. There were two hairdryers available for this entire hostel to be shared when it’s advertised in the lobby that they have “free hairdryer use.” I asked for a hairdryer in the lobby downstairs and made the journey up to the main bathrooms, only to find out that there are no outlets in the main bathrooms. Basically, you can only use the hairdryer with the outlet in the shared dormitory bathroom, and you will be a nuisance to all of your hostel mates. Never mind if you want to use that same shower and have water get everywhere on the floor, due to the poor shower drainage epidemic that affects hostels everywhere. FYI, the towel rental is a steep €5. If you notice someone in your room has left behind their towel, just take it down and ask for a fresh one, because that is actually free. I found out eventually that the hairdryer I was lended was broken and the other one was being used. The staff person’s solution was to wait for the other hairdryer to be returned, while my hair was sopping wet and that hairdryer had only been taken a couple minutes prior. The second floor bar/restaurant seemed like a popular spot, especially at night, but ordering food there was difficult and confusing. I don’t think the staff even knew what they were serving at certain times. It took a long time for a grilled cheese when the restaurant was almost dead, and then the sandwich was almost inedible with the amount of horseradish they used. There is one tiny kitchen in the hostel, which honestly seemed a little crazy for the size of this place. I would notice during peak times at breakfast and dinner that there would be at least eight people in that small space. There are advertised “chill-out rooms” which were on the 5th and 6th floors only and just have some couches and chairs. My room was on the 4th floor, and so to get up there I needed to walk up the stairs (the keycard for the elevator wouldn’t let me go up). Overall, my stay here was good because of the location and the cleanliness and that was what was mainly important for me. In terms of amenities, I found it to be lacking. I can’t say whether or not I would stay here again, but I definitely wouldn’t strongly recommend it to someone else. Use your best judgement and figure out what you’re prioritizing when you travel if you want to know whether this place will work for you.

The private bathroom 8 sharing is not worth it. The bathroom was extremely tiny. My friends also had major issues with the heating in the hostel. The staff was not helpful in fixing it. We went to Paris in November and the heating in the room and in the shared bathroom didn’t work, which is the least we expected. There is also no chairs in the room or even one table. No place to put luggage where you can pack or unpack it easily. While the location is excellent, the experience was not good. Also the luggage storage is not complimentary even if it’s for one hour. It’s quite expensive in fact and something they should provide for free for at least a short while.

The Room:|We stayed in a private double room which was very basic. The shower is the old gym-style one where you have to press the button every 30 seconds to keep the water running, which gets annoying. Only large towels are provided (no hand towels or bath mat), and there’s no kettle, just a Nespresso machine. The bed was really hard, and we woke up sore. There’s no air-con but a fan is provided.||You can hear noise from other rooms, but the windows block most outside noise. The room seemed mostly clean, though there were quite a few small black hairs left in the bathroom. There’s a hairdryer and toilet roll provided, but overall the room felt quite bare for what we paid.||The Staff:|The female staff were lovely and polite, but I didn’t feel comfortable with the behaviour of some of the male staff and security. They seemed to treat guests differently (flirting with girls coming in) and at times acted unprofessionally.||We asked reception at 8:30pm for two extra pillows, as there’s only one extremely thin pillow each. A kind lady said they’d be brought by 10pm, but by 10:30pm nothing had arrived. When we called again, the man on the phone didn’t seem interested. At 11pm, we went down to ask in person and he got very defensive, raising his voice saying he was on his own and asking what we expected him to do.||On my way back to the room, the security guard stopped the lift doors from closing, got in with me, pushed in front as he got out, then doubled back when I turned the opposite way, and walked quickly and directly behind me down the corridor. It was uncomfortable and honestly felt intimidating. The pillows never arrived, so we just went without.||Overall:|I didn’t feel especially safe here, mainly because of how some of the male staff behaved. It’s a shame because the female staff were great and the place itself could be decent with a few improvements. For the price though, it really wasn’t worth it.

Awful. I've visited Paris many times and this time is the worst experience. There is a weird smell as soon as you enter the room. I'm not sure if the staff is paid properly here, because everyone looks tired and lacks of passion, with a very numb attitude. This also affects the whole atmosphere in this hotel; everyone living here isn't interacting. On the contrary, you can always see people walking around with a confused face because a lot of the equipment and services in the hotel are simply not working or no clear guidance is provided. The coworking space/restaurant, even if you ordered food and drinks, would still force you to leave with your laptop because the “coworking hour is finished”. Very rude. No laundry room. The breakfast is bad. The public kitchen is way too small and not enough utensils. One star is for the location.
