Fun attraction with a lot of history to learn in fun ways. Has good replicas of parts of the white house. The line wasn't too bad, and for being a little crowded, it still felt like you had room to walk and check out certain exhibits. Just be sure to get your tickets online a lot easier. The gift shop was fine, but you can find official merchandise here than other gifts outside and around D.C.

This museum is incredibly interactive, which I absolutely adore because it makes the experience incredibly enjoyable. They have a replica of the Oval Office, where you can take pictures while sitting at the presidential desk. Additionally, they have an interactive room that showcases various rooms within the White House and you can learn the history about the some of the objects. There’s a wealth of information about the people who work there and their roles, as well as fascinating details about the presidents. My personal favorite part is the photo booth, which offers a variety of White House backgrounds. It was an absolute blast! The museum is free, but I highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance with a specific time slot. The gift shop is charming and offers a wide range of souvenirs. We even bought a Christmas ornament! The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit.

Just a few blocks from the real White House is The People's House, which will provide you the next best thing to a White House tour experience. You will experience a top-notch partial virtual tour, which includes a miniature display of all the major rooms, a high-tech 3D room (like a Star Trek Holideck) that immerses you into several White House rooms where you can see the furnishings, learn more about the various displayed paintings, and even peer out each room's windows. This museum also includes a current mock-up of the oval office where you can have photos taken of you at the replica of the President's desk.

Absolutely immaculate museum. Free admission, donation optional. Timed admission so I do recommend you pick a time slot and adhere to it. We went on a weekday and got in a few minutes before our chosen ticket time. Employees were all friendly and helpful! Immersive experience and lots to look at and learn about. You can walk through quickly or spend some in depth time learning about the White House. Check photos to get ideas. Worth the visit and very close to the actual White House!

427 stars! We went with our 21 and 17 year-old sons and it was amazing for all of us. We spent about two hours there and it is so interactive and amazing. The White House oval office thing was cool and right when you go in so be sure to spend some time sitting on the couch in that room for a while, don’t rush through it. Do each activity and really make an effort to engage with it. It was so amazing.

This was a great way to spend a rainy morning on our visit to Washington, DC. We booked in advance, but it was free. We loved the interactive White House room model, with the tablets explaining each room. The highlight for us was the 1:1 replica of the Oval Office. You can see where meetings with world leaders would take place as well as a replica of the Resolute desk. There's also a theater that has interactive trivia. The cool thing is that this is all across the street of the actual White House. I haven't heard anyone talk about this, but we would highly recommend this place, especially if you're interested in presidential history.

The People’s House – History You Can Truly Feel Visiting The People’s House in Washington, D.C. was one of the most meaningful parts of my trip. There’s something powerful about standing in a place where so many important decisions have shaped our country — and what makes this experience even more special is how interactive and accessible it is. You don’t just walk through and look at things behind glass. You get to touch, feel, and connect with history. The exhibits are thoughtfully designed, and everything feels alive — from the architecture to the stories told throughout the Capitol Visitor Center. The guided tour was informative without being overwhelming, and I appreciated how the space truly welcomes people from all walks of life. You get a real sense of the history and purpose of the building — and of the people who have walked its halls. This is a place that makes you feel connected — to democracy, to history, and to each other. I left inspired and grateful that this space belongs to all of us. If you’re in D.C., don’t skip it. The People’s House is a must-see.

it was a great experience. Everyone was friendly! well- The security was a bit iffy, but I understand that because they are security, haha. But, the actual employees that work there were super friendly. The gift shop had great options. The immersive activities were plentiful, especially for this to be a free museum. I was very impressed with the projectors and their use of technology. Very nice place for any tourist, or really anybody who would love to see the real White House, but hasn’t gotten a chance to do so.
