The Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite

We had an amazing two-night stay and can't wait to come back! The room was spacious and spotless with incredibly comfy bedding, which made for a great night’s sleep. The service was great; everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Overall, it felt warm and inviting, with great staff.

Attended here 7th January and was greeted by a lovely lady who checked us in at reception and we discussed how welcome dogs were at the hotel. The lady checked us in promptly and advised she would find us a table to dine when we were ready. ||The meal was delicious especially the game terrine which was beautiful. ||We left the restaurant to sit in the bar. I went to the bar to order a drink and another customer who arrived at the bar after me tried to order before me. Very professionally the lady came to me first and served us in order. ||It's little things like this that make a difference to a stay. We visit the Inn Collection hotels often and will continue to be returning customers.

This was the second Christmas break we have had at the pheasant Inn and from stepping in Stuart and his fabulous team were there to Greet us with a warm welcome and a glass of prosecco. |There were little touches which was a lovely suprise. |My husband is in a wheelchair and at every turn they were there to help and look after us.|The incredible team in the kitchen were simply magnificent!|I really hope the management at the inn collection appreciate just how lucky they are to have such an outstanding group of people.

We made a last minute booking to get away for the night and so pleased we did. We were in the cozy double room and the room is as described “cozy” it is quite a small room but perfect for a night of relaxation which is what we needed. The room included a safe box, iron and ironing board along with spare pillows. The bed was very comfortable and good blackout curtains making for a perfect nights sleep. We did have a slight issue with the shower where the temperature dropped which I mentioned at reception whilst leaving and they couldn’t apologise enough and advised if that were to happen again to let them know as they could have tried rebooting which would have sorted the issue. Food here is absolutely amazing we had dinner and breakfast and I would highly recommend. You can help yourself to water which is located at the end of the bar through a beer tap which is quite fun especially if you have children with you. Overall excellent stay and all of the staff were amazing. We will definitely be returning customers.

Fantastic food, portions and service! Booked a family meal for my dad’s birthday and they had a good selection of gluten free meals for him too. Dog friendly and great location for walking too.

Do not go to this pub/restaurant if you want a welcoming and friendly reception from the staff. When they do take your order they do not listen to what you’re saying and are more interested in talking to each other than putting the Customer needs first. We experienced this last year and stopped going. We decided as it was a New Year to give them another go, however, if anything the experience was worse and as locals we will not be going back.

Many a time travelling up to Maryport, we have passed the sign for the Pheasant inn and said we must go there some day.||So we have just had the one night winter break which included dinner, bed and breakfast for £115 per couple (there are cheaper rooms available) and what a lovely time we had and exceeded my expectations!||We spent some time in the snug in the afternoon and then had a very pleasant evening meal and more after dinner drinks.|The room was very nice and we had a very comfortable sleep and breakfast was lovely.|All staff extremely pleasant. Will definitely visit again soon.

I recently spent a couple of nights away and had an amazing stay! The service was spot on, with warm greetings and a smooth check-in process that made everything easy. My room was perfect, especially being on the ground floor with easy access to the garden for my dog. We dined in twice and the food was delicious every time. I can’t wait to return!

My wife, dog and I came here for a delightful afternoon tea to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. This place clearly was an old coaching inn and you can really sense the history and age of the place. There are many different rooms which cater for different things, a lovely bar, a larger dining room and some smaller ante-rooms for things such as afternoon tea which I would definitely recommend. Well worth a stop en route to Keswick!

Great meal! Highly recommend the duck. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, perfect for a rainy day. The food could have come a bit faster and some mix up with the check at the end. All together the food was worth it. Ps try the toffee dessert

Wonderful and amazing choice of whiskey. Cider choice poor. The food is good, small quantity, quite expensive and the food is bistro/gastro pub. Would rather have had good basic food.
