The Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite

Stayed for a couple of nights in January. Great location in north lakes near bassenthwaite, just off main road, quiet at night. Food great for both breakfast and evening meal, staff superb throughout. Rooms cozy and warm, comfy bed. Nice snug area with quiz/other events. Nice selection of booze. Great price, we would book again. 10/10 no complaints!

We had a lovely 2 night stay. Our Classic size room was spacious, clean and modern but with a very homely country feel. We had 1 evening meal and 2 breakfasts and the food was lovely each time. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The spa passes at Armathwaite Hall book up quickly as they only have 4 per 5 hour slot to sell so its worth booking them in advanced if you know you want one. Would definitely stay again.

Can’t recommend this lovely Inn highly enough. Room - spacious, warm, cosy, bed comfortable, nice big shower area and bathroom. |Food- excellent choice, good quality and served in very good time. Lovely full English breakfasts but lots of other choice should you not want full English. |Bar and restaurant area -full of character with a lovely open fire. |Very nice, helpful staff. |Close to A66 but far enough away not to hear the traffic , very handy for the Western Fell Wainwrights and a beautiful forest walk close by. |We will definitely return. Excellent value for money

We had an excellent 4 night stay at the Pheasant Inn. We loved our room, number 6. It was, spacious, well appointed with a comfortable seating area and a small but perfectly equipped shower room. The room was very cosy and we turned the heating off at night. We had dinner in the hotel each night and we found the food delicious and well presented. Breakfast was also very tasty and substantial, you don’t need lunch! We would be happy to recommend the Pheasant Inn to our friends. We will definitely revisit.

Lovely comfortable accommodation, staff are friendly and accommodating and when they say they are dog friendly that is exactly what they are. We felt so relaxed having our dogs with us. We booked on the winter24 deal and it was superb value. Definitely going back soon. Thank you for a lovely couple of days!!

Staff and food were fantastic for the price. They did try to steal my dog as they had totally spoiled her and she wasn’t keen to leave them lol. It’s a good hotel at a fair price. Breakfast is a solid 6 out of 10. I really enjoyed the British inspired food, others might find it rich and heavy. Would certainly return off peak

We had two wonderful nights at the Pheasant Inn, as part of the Winter Break package. This included dinner for both nights and as much breakfast as we could manage! The food was amazing, the staff were kind and attentive, making us feel very comfortable. The room was clean and cozy, we had two great sleeps! There are lovely hikes straight from the door and you're a 15 minute drive from Keswick. The Spa passes to Armathwaite Hall were brilliant! This was our second visit and certainly won't be our last! We're already looking forward to visiting again.

Lovely, characterful building and room was warm and cosy (ideal for the weather and time of year). Staff were generally lovely, approachable and helpful, though they were very busy and fewer in number than Im sure would have been ideal. Food was good, though unfortunately our choices were impacted by having run out of several things plus would have expected table service for food. Overall, a very difficult job to keep so many guests and diners happy over the Xmas/New Year period, hence commendations (especially to the lady with the dodgy ankle) and we would happily stay again in the future.

My wife, dog and I came here for a delightful afternoon tea to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. This place clearly was an old coaching inn and you can really sense the history and age of the place. There are many different rooms which cater for different things, a lovely bar, a larger dining room and some smaller ante-rooms for things such as afternoon tea which I would definitely recommend. Well worth a stop en route to Keswick!

Great meal! Highly recommend the duck. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, perfect for a rainy day. The food could have come a bit faster and some mix up with the check at the end. All together the food was worth it. Ps try the toffee dessert

Wonderful and amazing choice of whiskey. Cider choice poor. The food is good, small quantity, quite expensive and the food is bistro/gastro pub. Would rather have had good basic food.
