We made a last minute booking to get away for the night and so pleased we did. We were in the cozy double room and the room is as described “cozy” it is quite a small room but perfect for a night of relaxation which is what we needed. The room included a safe box, iron and ironing board along with spare pillows. The bed was very comfortable and good blackout curtains making for a perfect nights sleep. We did have a slight issue with the shower where the temperature dropped which I mentioned at reception whilst leaving and they couldn’t apologise enough and advised if that were to happen again to let them know as they could have tried rebooting which would have sorted the issue. Food here is absolutely amazing we had dinner and breakfast and I would highly recommend. You can help yourself to water which is located at the end of the bar through a beer tap which is quite fun especially if you have children with you. Overall excellent stay and all of the staff were amazing. We will definitely be returning customers.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Service and food were fantastic. The room was in an annex and we nick-named it our "Hobbit hole". We could smell wet dogs when we first went into it and we don't have a dog! This wouldn't be a problem. We would just open a window. Only one problem with this, the only window in the bedroom area was a sky-light and it rained the whole time we were there. The window in the bathroom was 'fun' if you like that sort of thing, without the blind being down, you could sit on the loo and wave at everyone walking past! 😂 It should be said that other people who were in the same annex as us described their rooms as absolutely beautiful. I think we just happened to draw the short straw on this one. Room 22. It was perfect for people like us who are out walking all day and just needed somewhere to lay our heads after a hearty meal for 2 nights. If we had been there longer we might have perhaps asked to move rooms.

I suppose that this was my own fault. I used to stay here when it was a private hotel and it has a lovely cosy country feel. Now part of a chain and they have done an excellent job of stripping the charm from it. From the impersonal booking to the mundane menu, at times this felt more like a hostel than a hotel. I have to add that all the staff were great but they were operating in a straight jacket. I booked direct with the hotel some months ago and it seems that I paid top dollar. Booking, com is offering rooms now at 1/3rd what I paid. For my trouble I was put in a room in the annex that just about qualified as double. I am so pleased that my partner had to cancel, there wasn't room for her as well. In the annex soundproofing was lax. I could hear people come and go. Fortunately, my neighbours were very well behaved so I did get a decent nights sleep. The picturesque building belied the reality this is just a premier inn in disguise. Eat out.

Fantastic place to spend a weekend. The Inn, the grounds, the location, staff and service, food and beer were all top notch! Very dog friendly too. Amazing value using the Walk Inn deal. We'll definitely be back.

I recently spent a couple of nights away and had an amazing stay! The service was spot on, with warm greetings and a smooth check-in process that made everything easy. My room was perfect, especially being on the ground floor with easy access to the garden for my dog. We dined in twice and the food was delicious every time. I can’t wait to return!

It's close to lake Bassenthwaite but among trees so no views. The inn is old and characterful. The room was comfortable and quiet, but with a very slight whiff of septic tank in the bathroom. The breakfast was good, if not startling. We had a meal here as well. The food is standard pub fare ie not very imaginative but acceptable. The staff were all very pleasant.

Our stay at The Pheasant Inn, Bassenthwaite (Cockermouth, United Kingdom) was fantastic. The warmth, charm, and beauty of the Inn along with the welcoming staff made it a perfect overnight. The room was spacious and quaint with a lovely decor. Dinner was delicious and spending time in the pub was a great way to unwind after a day of travel. The Inn has a relationship with nearby Armathwaite Hall Hotel & Spa. What a gorgeous location! For a discounted fee you can access the spa, fitness center, and pool. Definitely a must! Thank you to Richard and James, two employees at The Inn that made our stay extra special.

Absolutely beautiful! Such a peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Well appointed and renovated rooms. They upgraded my room to a larger room which overlooked a spectacular garden. The staff are also very lovely people. The buffet breakfast was delicious but I wish I had known that my room rate included the full breakfast - the front desk refunded me that portion. Going up the stairs with my luggage was a bit of a struggle for me but front desk helped me with I really appreciated. The inn is dog friendly as well….a nice bonus for those traveling with dogs. This was a business trip for me but I hope to return and stay here for an actual vacation.

Yelp
My wife, dog and I came here for a delightful afternoon tea to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. This place clearly was an old coaching inn and you can really sense the history and age of the place. There are many different rooms which cater for different things, a lovely bar, a larger dining room and some smaller ante-rooms for things such as afternoon tea which I would definitely recommend. Well worth a stop en route to Keswick!

Yelp
Great meal! Highly recommend the duck. The atmosphere is cozy and warm, perfect for a rainy day. The food could have come a bit faster and some mix up with the check at the end. All together the food was worth it. Ps try the toffee dessert

Yelp
Wonderful and amazing choice of whiskey. Cider choice poor. The food is good, small quantity, quite expensive and the food is bistro/gastro pub. Would rather have had good basic food.
