We love The Pheasant, we live locally and have stayed on a few occasions. This time we stayed with friends, which was very enjoyable. We took advantage of the dinner, B&B offer, with £30 towards your evening meal it was excellent value. ||Our room was fabulous, situated inside above the bar/restaurant and with fabulous views of Chester and North Wales. The bed was enormous, super comfy with quality linens, the storage space more than ample, the wallpaper stylishly and decadent and the bathroom with separate bath and large shower, a proper place for a pamper. ||We can only comment on our meals which were fine if a little bland: the salmon was delicious however the ravioli a touch under seasoned, our main courses were much the same, turkey and salmon, both ok if a touch lacking in flavour, the cheeseboard to finish was however very good. The breakfasts the next morning were excellent, a good continental selection followed by a tasty omelette and avocado on sourdough with poached eggs, set us up perfectly for the day ahead. ||The only reason we have taken two blobs off was in relation to a comment made when we checked out. Both couples paid for the rooms when we checked in and all food and beverages were put on our room which made it easier. The young lady who checked us out on the morning of the 12th Dec, made, what we felt was an inappropriate sneering comment that ‘all that was on the bill was drinks’. How we spend our money is entirely up to us and when you consider that the ‘drinks’ bill was for 4 people, we did not feel it was in any way excessive, which we felt she implied. ||This tarnished what had been a wonderful stay. However we will definitely return.

We booked for a 1 night stay in a Superior King Room which was excellent. Comfy bed and quality furnishings. Evening meal was included in the deal and food was good quality pub fayre. The restaurant was very atmospheric and set up for Xmas. Breakfast was equally good and we had very good service from Matty. So very happy guests and we will return.

remote but stunning views, it was a perfect quiet escape after busy days of walking around various towns (Shrewsbury, Chester, Liverpool). Rooms stylishly decorated with everything you need. Very friendly staff. Generous breakfast. Stunning pub. I would highly recommend

This delightful hotel set in stunning countryside provide lovely comfortable rooms. The whole atmosphere of the place is peaceful and "countryfied" well suited to its rural setting. The restaurant has a goiod choice of food and both our choices were delicious and good value for money. Great real ale too served in the cosy bar area. First class.

It took 35 min of waiting for the nibbles and main food due to being extremely busy, and same thing happened with the dessert, apparently there was a problem with the till. The quality of the food was amazing and the pub is very beautiful and with a good atmosphere, very dog friendly too. If they had had more staff on the day the review would have been 5 stars :)

Have been to The Pheasant a few times and always enjoyed it. However today was a different story. My husbands prawn pil pil starter was swimming in oil and didn't have enough garlic and chilli. His Chilli main was cold, the waitress apologised and took it away. After a long wait( while the rest of the party had to continue eating or their food would have gone cold ) he was brought a fresh meal, which was hot in places and cool in others. Again mentioned it to the waitress who again offered to replace it,but by this point the rest of us had finished our meals,so he declined. The waitress said she would tell the kitchen, returned and said the chef said it had been temperature checked. After eating half the meal my husband decided that was enough as if rice is not heated properly it is a food poisoning risk. The did deduct the price from the bill. Reading other reviews this seems to be a recurring problem for some reason, but one which needs addressing On the plus side the staff were very efficient and friendly and the place was beautifullydecorated for Christmas. We had a lovely table with a log fire on one side and a window with a fabulous view on the other.

Lovely staff super friendly and amazing setting. What a shame it was let down by the chef! Prawn pil pil starter. 4 prawns swimming in what tasted like a vegetable oil. No where near enough garlic or chilli. Bland and unpleasant. No where close to the spanish classic. Luckily not gone off- chicken curry very underwhelming- charlie brighams out of a box tastes better in my honest opinion. Fish and chips - fish stunk of ammonia and was totally gone off. A film over the mushypeas clearly been sitting under heat for a while. Absolutely appalling to serve this to anyone. They took it off the bill once reported and our server was excellent and a lovely chap. Sorry to say not a good experience I had driven all the way from London and was looking forward to a good meal. Not the case on this occasion.

Yelp
Rude arrogant entitled staff, over charged for our stay and spoken down to when we complained. I will never return to the pheasant inn. It's such a shame as myself and my family have been visiting for over 20 years. The staff and management need to be trained or retrained in customer service, also our room had mold in the bathroom on the ceiling, not a pleasant experience. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!

Yelp
Sam Cook said "Bring it on home to me ....." Much as I enjoy being in far distant lands, eating and drinking the stuff of travel programs, my heart and mind is always reminding me of places I call home and The Pheasant Inn encapsulates all that that entails. It is the Yin to my travelling Yang. Set into the rolling Cheshire hills in Englands green and pleasant land, is this real slice of coaching Inn in the villlage of Higher Burwardsley* Also close by are Peckforton & Beeston castles should you want to go rampant on the ramparts. With its Sandstone structure, open fires, Oak flooring and leafy beer garden with spectacular views over the Cheshire plain, the Pheasant is a true gem. They even have cobblestones out front and quite often people will roll up here on Horseback and tie the bridle reins to the wall. An Inn (Yes!! they also provide accommodation, see pix) for all seasons. They cater to all tastes and events and my family has used here for every occasion in the book and have yet to find fault but, it is not just a family place, No!! The way it is set out means that you can come here as a large group and pile in to the huge glass conservatory or arrive as a couple and get a table for two in one of the quiet nooks and crannies alongside a fireplace or just come alone and stand alongside the bar and chat with the regulars and meet their Labrador who will be lying at their feet. I have brought my Lab' "Dex" here multiple times, he likes to share a pint of Stout with me. The Pheasant always stocks four real ales (recognised for their well kept quality by CAMRA) plus a choice of mainstream beers and the wine list is always on point. They hold the AA Rossette & feature in the Michelin Good Pub and Egon RonayGuides. Important to me is that they use local produce in their kitchens and the menu is changed daily so look to the specials board at the bar. Even when it is not on the menu, just ask and they will rustle up a plate of thick locally cured Ham with a couple of poached eggs from the farm supported by thick crispy chips (fluffy on the inside) and garden peas. On Sundays I like to go here, fill my tank and then head off with Dex along The Sandstone Trail** or head down the hill to The Ice Cream Farm***. Dex, in tru Chocolate Labrador stylee always hits up the Choc chip. *Just as 'Worcesershire Sauce' is pronounced 'Wooster' in England so 'Burwardsley' is pronounced locally in Cheshire as 'Bosley'. Should you have difficult finding the Pheasant Inn then ask for 'The Pheasant @ Bosley' ** http://www.sandstonetrail.com/ *** http://www.cheshirefarmicecream.co.uk/about-the-ice-cream-farm/ , .

Yelp
Perhaps the best view of Cheshire you'll get from any restaurant. Yesterday I was treated to lunch with Neil C. And his nan and we decided to head up to The Pheasant as they are renowned for excellent food. I wasn't disappointed. I ordered steamed mussels in a white wine sauce and they were outstanding. Served in THE biggest pot I have ever seen for a starter, they were juicy and the sauce was incredible. For a very modest £6 this was the best mussels I've had. For my main course I tried the Lemon Sole. It too was an excellent dish. I was incredibly happy with the meal and the restaurant itself is spacious but still has its old traditional pub feel with exposed beams and brickwork. It's cute and the service is also excellent. I'll definitely be returning here I'm sure, even if it's just for the views!

Yelp
This pub has wonderful ambiance, amazing views and excellent food. They have sandwiches, meat boards, appetizers and entrees. I had the sea bass with fennel, olives and sundries tomatoes with a delicious sauce. Companions had sea trout and a baked meat pie. I was very impressed. You won't be disappointed. It wasn't cheap but was with it. Service was superb.

Yelp
The Pheasant is a beautiful pub in a wonderful location with super sunset views from the garden :-) The baked fillet of hake with oysters was divine and the warm cherry bakewell tart and sticky toffee pudding were both scrumptious - we would return in a heartbeat! Definitely a recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous little pub, very homely with log fires and fantastic food. If you love quaint traditional pubs that serve quality food, this is the place for you.
