Welcome was warm, and check-in was speedy and simple. The hotel is split across 2 different buildings so some rooms, ours included, are some way from the pool, restaurants etc. But the room itself was wonderfully comfortable and clean. The bed was huge and made for a very good night's sleep. The only small issue was the lack of plug sockets for charging phones etc in the room. The sockets by the bed had the lamps plugged in to so couldn't charge and have a lamp on whilst in bed! There was also only 1 socket by the desk which had the TV plugged in to. Breakfast was hugely varied and good. We even had a large mantis join us at the table because we were sat in the beautiful courtyard area!! This beautiful historic hotel is definitely worth a luxurious stay at if coming to Yogyakarta. Represents excellent value for money and is in a brilliantly central location. Highly recommended.

An old world haven of tranquility. Excellent rooms, tasteful interiors throughout and a beautiful waiting room with many mementos of its earlier days, featuring pictures of notable visitors and antiques. The fantastic breakfast buffet in exquisite surroundings really set the best start for the day. As a note, the showers seem in need of TLC. Despite this, I believe the 5 stars were deserved to reflect the overall experience in our 4-night stay. From reception to breakfast and amenities we found everything of excellent quality and received consistently impeccable and prompt service. The location is also central and in a safe area, so many essential shops are within a short walk.

Good location. Good staff. I would like to share feedback regarding my breakfast experience during my stay. On the morning of December 21, 2024, at 8 AM, I requested a sunny-side-up egg but was informed by the staff that it was unavailable, and only omelettes were being served. This was surprising, as it was my first time encountering an issue with egg availability during a stay at an Accor hotel. It’s unusual for a hotel of this standard to run out of such a basic breakfast item. I hope this feedback helps improve inventory management to ensure all guests have access to the full range of breakfast options during their stay. ;)

The absolute strength of this hotel is its beautiful building in colonial style and great service. You will have a memorable stay here. The rooms are a bit worn, especially the bathrooms. However, I would still recommend it. Great breakfast and very nice pool area as well.

We stayed here for three nights on the first leg of our journey in Indonesia and were so pleased in every way. Our room overlooked the courtyard and had a small balcony. The hotel is stunningly beautiful with rich colonial architecture. An easy walk to Malioboro Street or catch a tuktuk. Staff are extremely attentive and friendly -- an especial commendation to Arin and Ghita for their help at the front desk. Do take advantage of the onsite spa -- we had several massages and enjoyed every one of them, which were followed by the best hot ginger tea and fresh fruit. The breakfast buffet is the biggest we have ever seen with multiple options of fruit, Western and Asian dishes. And ask for the historical tour, if you have time -- there is a special room that General Suharto used in the hotel with a little hideaway spot.

The hotel itself is in a beautiful building. It is definitely worth paying a little more for a room with a balcony and a pool view. The pool area is a real highlight. The problems I had seemed to relate to housekeeping which seems very understaffed. I arrived at 3.30 and had to wait 30 minutes to be shown to a room I hadn’t booked. I then needed to wait for my actual room to be ready. I stayed two night and on the middle day was out from 9-3.30 in which time housekeeping hadn’t been. Not their fault, they were all very friendly but maybe not enough of them.

I recently stayed at The Phoenix Hotel and was thoroughly impressed by its charm and exceptional service. The hotel has a classic, cozy atmosphere with well-maintained rooms that blend comfort and functionality perfectly. The true standout, however, is the staff. Every team member was friendly, attentive, and went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. From offering local tips to fulfilling special requests, their dedication to service was evident at every turn. The food at the hotel is also top-notch. The restaurant offers a delicious variety of dishes, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which had an excellent selection to start the day right.Overall, The Phoenix Hotel offers a warm, welcoming experience with fantastic service and food. I can’t wait to return!
