I came to Jackson for a wedding and this was my first time in the city and state. This was also my first true meal in the South. I understand that many people gave differing opinions on BBQ across the country and it can be a very hot topic in the South and Texas, so take this review from the perspective and palate from someone who is from Los Angeles (where we have good BBQ but it is not as consistent and as good as places elsewhere). This was one of the best meals I ever had. The staff was friendly, everyone was welcoming, I felt at home, and everyone was constantly checking in on my friend and I. They even gave us a rundown of sauces in case we needed it. Fantastic meal. Thank you for showing me Southern Hospitality!

Google
The bbq was very, very, very good. Top 10 I've had. The brisket was soft n juicy. The only negative was that the bark was a bit weak.. I'm not sure if the bark is normally like that or not, but the cook on the brisket covered that weakness for me. The ribs were just great. Not dry, good cook, good ratio to meat and fat. Juicy. Great. Loved the greens and slaw as well. My wife loved the brisket fries. Loved. 100% would go back.

Google
Friendly staff, amazing service, and the best ribs I've ever had. The brisket and Mac and Cheese were next level too. And to wash it down, they had some delicious homemade pink lemonade. You won't be disappointed. Our only "issue" was limited indoor seating. We had to eat outside and it was crazy hot that day.

Google
The atmosphere is fantastic. Such a cute area. Everyone was so nice. The food was delicious! The fried green tomatoes are a MUST I'm from Memphis * famous for BBQ* and not even a BBQ person . Maybe I am now lol the beer selection is also fantastic. Highly recommend.

Google
I ordered the 2 meats (pork & brisket) with a side of potato salad and fried green tomatoes. I have never had fried green tomatoes before and they were great! Brisket was a bit dry but overall tasted fine. Service was great and it was a cold day so I appreciated the heated area for dining in.

Google
I stay less than 10 minutes from this restaurant. I ordered through Door Dash the pulled pork plate with fried green tomatoes and potato salad. The fried green tomatoes tasted synthetic and the breading was off . The worst fried green tomatoes I ever had . The potato salad was bland didn’t have any seasoning, and the pulled pork was old and had hard pieces of meat I could tell it was leftovers.

Google
The food is simply incredible. We came from Brazil for vacations and I’m simply amazed! My husband ordered the brisket and said it was very tender and flavorful. As a vegetarian, I was blown away by the amazing best mac and cheese — creamy, rich, and perfectly balanced. The salads were fresh and full of flavor too. The service was just as amazing. Our server was so patient and kind, taking the time to explain the menu and help me find the best vegetarian options. I felt truly welcomed and cared for. We’ll absolutely be back. This place is a gem — worth every minute of the drive and every bite on the plate

Google
This would have been a 5 star experience, but those smoked green beans are awful! Other than that, this place will give you everything you want from BBQ and leave you full! The staff is friendly and ready to get you a side of pickles:) Plenty of covered and tree-shade spots outdoors! Bring the family

Yelp
I had to try this place because it had 4.5 stars and over 1,000 reviews. It did not disappoint! The sliced brisket was a good mix of lean and moist with a good bark. The beans were tasty too! I love eating in BBQ joints that are converted gas stations. This place has a cool vibe. Order at the counter and a friendly waitstaff will deliver to your table.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by a local. We enjoyed sharing a 2 meat sampler with brisket and pulled pork. For sides we did the mac and cheese, fries, and cole slaw. I preferred the pulled pork over the brisket but both meats were extremely tender and paired nicely with the sauces. The mac and cheese was on the plainer side and could definitely be elevated by adding some crunch. The cole slaw was my favorite! It was extremely refreshing and the best one I've tried in Jackson. Staff were extremely friendly and continuously checked in and made sure we were taken care of. There's ample seating inside and outside and heaters all around. We sat outside and despite it being a bit of chilly day, I felt warm enough to take off my jacket. Tip: Check in on Yelp for a free fountain drink!

Yelp
Checked this out as it had good reviews. This is located at Fondren which is lined by many restaurants. Went here on a Saturday afternoon. Kristen, who was at the counter taking orders, was not the friendliest (could be tired). Got the half rack baby back rib plate with pork rinds and smoked mac and cheese as the two sides. The ribs were very tender. The meat easily came off the ribs. It had good flavor but was better with their sauce. The mac and cheese and pork rinds were alright. The other servers going around were nice and friendly. One person from the staff went around and checked on me/the food. Service was quick. Ambience was very casual. Giving it a 4/5

Yelp
Great food and great service We had the brisket nachos and they were amazing, the pulled pork was good too

Matt R.

Yelp
A small group of us were in town and we wanted BBQ. This place came highly recommended by locals. We were not expecting the outside (only) seating option. Covered and screened, though. The options were great and the counter ordering process simple. You order your alcoholic drinks at a separate counter. All the servers were great. The food came out quickly and there was plenty of it. I had the brisket and Mac-n-Cheese and BBQ Beans. All tasted great. The beer options were plentiful. There's were only a few draft options, but dozens of bottles and can to choose from. I'd go again.

Yelp
I stopped in at The Pig & Pint on my most recent road trip after seeing them on some list for having the best wings in Mississippi. I got an order of their Pepsi Glazed wings and then placed a to go order of brisket, beans and Banana's Foster banana pudding. I then went around the corner in the same building to get a beer. You cannot order these 2 things from the same counter which is weird to me. They had about 4 beers on tap and ton more in bottle and cans. They have a small area inside to sit but also a screened in porch, another porch with a covering and a large open outdoor area. Anyway, I hate Pepsi but these wings were phenomenal. Perfectly crisp, flavorful and sauced perfectly. I hate it when wings are swimming in sauce, these had the perfect amount. These were washed down with a Parish Brewing Infinite Ghost Hazy IPA. Perfection. I ate the brisket and beans a few hours later at my hotel. The brisket was a little too fatty but still good. The beans were flavorful with a mustard based sauce. Unfortunately they messed up the dessert by accidentally giving me bread pudding. The bread pudding was good but man I had my heart set on the banana pudding. Oh well I guess I will just have to go back.

Yelp
asian wings are on point fried baloney sandwich very good service was amazing atmosphere is very friendly plenty of seating

Karine J.

Yelp
If you're craving authentic Italian food, this is the place to go. The atmosphere is charming and cozy, and the food is absolutely amazing. Their lasagna is some of the best I've ever had. We came here after a full day of shopping at the local mall, and it was a lovely way to wind down. The friendly staff made us feel at home, and the portions were generous.

Meya B.

Yelp
The nachos were good but that's not what got us!! We took some ribs to go and they were sooooo good. Very tender and not an extreme amount of bbq sauce so it was just perfect. The place had a great area for dogs outside too! The service was normal but the food was great!

Sina S.

Yelp
Visiting the area for a family event. Food was pretty good! Was not a fan of the baked beans at all, but the smoked wings, brisket and mac & cheese were solid. If you're not a fan of sauce on your ribs make sure to ask for it on the side. Didn't expect them to be sauced. Good pick overall! Get a free drink for checking into Yelp.

Yelp
The Pig and Pint had THE best brisket I've ever had. So delicious. And those fried green tomatoes??? My Gosh. Heaven. (I understand that this review is short. I normally have more to say, but I was in and out so quick for a take out order. And truly, what else is there to say when the food is that awesome??)

Cole R.

Yelp
Great first experience of Mississippi and a wonderful BBQ experience outside of Texas. I love all BBQ so I'm not a judge but I enjoyed every bite. The staff was welcoming and walked me through the menu. Made my selections, grabbed a drink, and made my way to a shaded picnic table. It was early afternoon so my food was provided immediately upon sitting down. The ribs were delicious with a littlelmore kick to them than I'm use to but its good. The banana Foster banana pudding was phenomenal. I'll be back for work and will be making this place a regular stop.

Pacience S.

Yelp
Very of the moment decor with solid sides and fresh salads. Recently accompanied a coworker to pick up today go lunch and as a vegetarian I didn't expect much and that was the case with my options being nachos or loaded fries both without meat of course or some of the sides that didn't obviously contain meat and a pretty decent side salad. The service was quick and friendly but I do challenge businesses to at least make an effort to include some viable entrees for plant based patrons.

Tarissa S.

Yelp
We got the pit master sampler: pulled pork, brisket x2, and it comes with a half rack of ribs. Sides: fries, potato salad, and mac & cheese! The ribs were amazing, and I enjoyed the pulled pork on the Texas toast! Brisket isn't my favorite, but my boyfriend loved it. We loved the sides, especially the potato salad. Service was great too. 10/10

Yelp
This was our first time at the Pig and Pint. Only a few spots to sit inside but ample seating at the picnic tables on the covered patio. We shared a three meat combo of Brisket, pulled pork, and smoked sausage with BBQ beans and smoked Mac and cheese as our sides. The wife got a tea and I got a pint of their porter, which was from a brewery in Oregon. While I enjoyed the beer I'm puzzled as to why the place didn't feature local craft beers. The staff was very friendly and they were constantly cleaning which is nice to see. Our plate came out quickly another plus. Unfortunately the food wasn't very good. The brisket was very fatty, almost 1/3 fat, the pulled pork was okay but wasn't as flavorful as we expected. The sausage was excellent as were the beans which had perhaps the thickest sauce I've ever had in bbq beans. The Mac and cheese was very good but I didn't detect any smoke flavor. Overall I'd rate the place at four stars but it is unlikely we'd return with so many other bbq places to choose from.

Victoria Y.

Yelp
Went with a group of 17 people and the food came out pretty fast! Overall rating about 8/10... wings (specifically Asian bbq) and fries were a hit, mac and cheese was alittle too cheesy and mushy. Fried green tomatoes and the bacon sandwich also very good!

Ken M.

Yelp
Go hungry. Massive amount of food you get with your meal. Any place that has fresh pork skins for a side option has to be solid. And this was sooooooooooo good. Some of the best brisket had since Texas Get here, sit out side under the mister, keep cool

Yelp
Was visiting from out of town and was looking for local specialties. They didn't have what we were looking for, but were quick to recommend places nearby that did. We ended up deciding to stay since both they and the place they recommended were closing soon, so we didn't want to risk it. The food was pretty good and portions were large for the price. Had leftovers the next day and it was all good. Thanks!

Shae R.

Yelp
Everything was phenomenal! Great food, clean, inviting atmosphere and even great service! Wish we could come more often. Worth the stop.

Katie C.

Yelp
We were passing through town and decided to get some Mississippi barbecue delivered. This was fantastic! The barbecue chicken was by far my favorite.

Jack C.

Yelp
Solid bbq. Stopped in before we hit the airport for a ride home and so glad we did. The brisket sandwich was spot on and they even let me add a piece of balogna to it which some bbq places don't even do balogna. This one did and it was a great addition. The Mac n cheese was delightful and super creamy. Service was quick and everyone was nice and greeted us and the string lights brings some cool ambiance in a rainy day.

Yelp
[Pig & Pint] Local Award-winning spot in Jackson, MS that specializes in BBQ and a large selection of beer I got the Que Sampler with the choice of brisket, pulled pork, and rack of ribs. Their sides included mac & cheese, collard greens, baked beans, and potato salad. The brisket was my favorite, super juicy. The sides were really good. They had a large selection of beer that I didn't get the chance to try since I was driving but maybe next time. However, I did get some sweet tea . Their selection of BBQ sauces at the table was amazing. The service was amazing with our server constantly checking in on us and the ambiance was great. Overall, 9/10. https://pigandpint.com 3139 N State St Jackson, MS 39216

Yelp
The Mac and cheese were good. The chicken and greens were subpar. Not much seasoning wise on the meat and having to put BBQ on it was the saving grace. Not the worst BBQ, but not the best either. The staff were very nice. A quick stop on our way to Sandestin.

James A.

Yelp
Wow... seriously exceptional Yelp find. Everything was good from start to finish. We opted for the Pitmaster sampler to get a taste of many... with outstanding brisket, pulled pork, and perfectly smoked sausage link; the sauces just amplified the already mouth popping flavors. The sides are extensive, flavorful, and I seriously wanted to try them all. After a long day of driving from Dallas, this place soooo hit the spot! Beer, smoked meat, and 'nanner puddin' for dessert... seriously get off the highway for this one!

Cindy B.

Yelp
I'm from Ohio and we have something similar to this. The atmosphere is great. You can tell as soon as you walk in the door you are going to have something amazing. The people working the counter are knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are reasonable. But all of that would be nothing if the food wasn't good. And the food is DEEElicious!!!

Ryan M.

Yelp
Average at best, I can make potato salad way better with my eyes closed. I don't know what I expected from a bologna sandwich but it was ok I guess. Needs a rethink if you ask me. Cook at home folks! Would be nice if an establishment decided to turn out some epic food around here but that has yet to be seen. They would certainly be busy!!

Kim Koury Y.

Yelp
We had the pork plate and smoked wings. The sides we picked were slaw , baked beans and collards . Everything was excellent ! There are four choices of BBQue sauce . I highly suggest this place !

Rochelle K.

Yelp
Highly rated, recommended bbq spot in Jackson MS. Located near Jackson State University & Milsapp College. My first time visiting here I thought the food was very good. I bragged about the bbq here and decided to take a friend. When visiting here the second time with a friend; I was not impressed with the food. The restaurant is lacking on its cleanness inside. We decided to eat outside and they bring out the food to you. Outside area is very cute with plenty of tables spread out. You can also play cornhole outside. We ordered the bbq ribs and brisket. Our ribs were a bit burnt and was lacking flavor. The brisket were a bit dry and lacking flavor. Our sides were just okay. Eatable but nothing to brag about. This place is expensive and I could've had a way better meal somewhere else for the amount of money we spent on garbage food. I was sorry that I had recommended this restaurant. The service was still good as before but the food was definitely not good at all. When I'm in Jackson again, I'll find another bbq restaurant to go too because this place is not it.

Lauren B.

Yelp
I love the pig & pint!! The food is delicious and the drinks are to die for. would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious barbecue every time. Service is fast & everyone is always friendly. Casual, relaxed atmosphere is perfect for lunch or dinner.

Zeke M.

Yelp
First of the staff who work here are the best they were all so helpful and made me feel like I've was a local. Then I had the food which was excellent. Make sure to get the Pork Belly Corndogs!!

Mike M.

Yelp
I had such high hopes for this well regarded bbq restaurant in Jackson. Not only does Yelp love it but a couple of friends who live here said I must eat there so I did. I am sorry to say but I was underwhelmed. Pig & Pint is primarily an outdoor restaurant with covered and uncovered seating. Inside is where you order Q and beer and then you head outside to find a table. Not sure how well that works on cold weather days or when it's hot and sticky outside. I went with the 1/2 smoked chicken meal with two sides for $16. My chosen sides were baked beans and potato salad. After ordering the food you go to another station to get your brew if that's what you want. My food arrived at the table in about 10 minutes and looked very attractive. I decided to start with the sides. Like I said it all looked attractive but: the potato salad was chunky and cool in temp but lacked flavor. It is mayo based and I couldn't really even taste that. the beans were thick in the consistency of the sauce but was somewhat bland. Usually beans with this consistency have a lot of rich flavor. Not here. finally the bird was large in size but I didn't taste anything special with its smokiness or juiciness. It was average in my opinion. Honestly the best part of the meal was their sweet bbq sauce on the table. One of 3 flavors offered it had a nice flavor to it that I used on the chicken, beans and the slice of Texas Toast provided. While I was underwhelmed with this meal and it's not what I expected, it was not a bad meal. Yes I wanted more flavor out of all 3 items, it was priced reasonably and I have to believe P & P is better than this. That's why I'm giving a 3 but no more.

Yelp
Stopped by tonight for dinner as I was passing through to New Orleans. Very friendly staff and quick service. I decided to go for it and order the Pitmaster's Sampler: half rack of ribs, brisket, chicken, and pulled pork. I had the cole slaw and side salad for sides. The brisket was amazing and the pork and chicken were beautifully moist. The ribs were only ok. Tender, but not much by way of taste even as they came glazed. Nice variety of sauces! The cole slaw was nice, but the side salad was obviously old--mushy tomatoes and past prime lettuce. NB: that substandard salad came with an upcharge. I had a lot of food left over. Next time, I'll go for the sampler without ribs or straight to the brisket sandwich. I would definitely come back.

Alyssa C.

Yelp
The employees were all very nice, friendly, and efficient. That made sure to keep tables clean and remove people's plates as they were done. They gave great descriptions of the sauce options and made sure the tables had plenty of sauce, napkins, and plastic ware . The brisket and sausage was cooked perfect and flavorful without sauce. I didn't love the sides I got but they were decent. I saw other people with fries and they looked good. I also got the banana foster pudding for dessert which was delicious. This is definitely a great family restaurant especially on nice weather days. There's lots of tables many in covered heated patios and others outside. They have a great beer list with a mix of local drafts and non local cans. I'm happy I was able to stop by while in town and will definitely come back next time and try the tacos!

Traci B.

Yelp
Beautiful picnic table courtyard with oak trees and string lights. Friendly service, generous portions and flavorful food! They welcomed our furbaby with a great big bone and bowl of water The fries topped with bbq chicken, queso and beans was enough for 4 people- like a whole chicken on those fries! The bbq chicken sandwich was delicious! The bacon melt sandwich was decadent, and those fried green tomatoes-wow! I love their dipping sauce more than Raising Cane's Great casual dining! Family friendly for sure! Dog friendly-absolutely!

Henry L.

Yelp
Get a few of their pulled pork or barbecue pork tacos, I think the slaw on top gives it the perfect contrast of crunch and meat and of course, use the spicy barbecue sauce. There are five choices on the table.

Dave S.

Yelp
Great environment and good food. Service was amazing. I would recommend this spot to family and Friends for sure. Loved the outdoor seating.

Mike F.

Yelp
The wings are 5/5 stars - I always get the white BBQ and Asian dressings. French fries are always well cooked and crispy. Service has never been an issue of the multitude of times I've eaten here! The outdoor area is so nice with a beer from the adjacent bar inside.

Cameron G.

Yelp
Excellent! The vibes were great here! Outdoor seating and table service was an incredible experience. Those tacos made my stomach wanna do the Hokey Pokey, I'm so happy. If you see a review from that Gameron C guy don't even think about it. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

K H.

Yelp
Good food. Plenty of eating space outside--covered and open air. Wish the entrance and ordering area were larger. Kind staff.

Katie B.

Yelp
Overall I think we would go here again if it were in-house. We had a delivery scheduled for 8:30pm. I called around 6 asking if I could call later to confirm if we could actually pick it up instead, and the guy I talked to said sure! I called back around 7:30pm to confirm we could not pick up and to proceed with the delivery, but I guess our original delivery was cancelled :( the girl I was talking to said I couldn't order delivery, and I explained I had already paid for the food and delivery fee and inquired earlier about a possible pick up but would confirm (which is what this second call was). After multiple holds, she said they could do the original delivery at 8:30pm. 8:30 rolls around and we get a call from one of the owners that he is on his way and they couldn't find any drivers this entire time. Thank goodness he stepped in! We ended up waiting for our food and received it at 9pm, but it was all clearly sitting around for awhile and barely warm. Fries were missing from the order, the corn dogs were a little soggy, mac & cheese was cold and not soft like you'd expect, and the overall lack of warmth of the food was disappointing as we spent about $250. Again, I think this place would be amazing if it were fresh and ate in-house but the late delivery and barely-warm food for what we paid for was not great :( I will say the brisket was yummy though!! Thank you to the owner for stepping in and getting our food to us, and I'll likely try them again if I'm in the area but definitely only for dine-in.

David K.

Yelp
Brisket Sandwich - Best I've ever had period. Yelp wants 85 characters - what else am I supposed to say? Choice of sauce on the picnic table, roll of paper towels too. Get it all over yourself and wash it down with a Pepsi product.

Molly J.

Yelp
Solid local bbq joint. My daughter and I stopped for lunch in hopes of getting some good local bbq; we succeeded. You order inside and then have a seat outside. I got pulled pork nachos and my daughter got brisket nachos. These were huge portions, loaded with everything you could possibly want on nachos. We were really hungry and we just couldn't even eat half of these. We could have split one order easily. The nachos were delicious! All of their sauces were at the table. My favorite was the Carolina style sauce. Service was good. The only negative was having to eat outside on a smoldering hot, humid, Mississippi June day. Even in the shade with ceiling fans, it was just uncomfortable. But this did not deter people from coming here. The place was packed still for lunch at 2:00 on a Saturday. Overall, I definitely recommend and will be back if ever again In Jackson!

Paul L.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious BBQ! I ordered ribs, brisket and sausage. The sausage, honestly was the low point for me... the brisket and ribs were on point, tender, juicy, just how you'd want it. Fries came out hot and crispy. Great beer selection as well.

Jared M.

Yelp
Love it! Always fresh! Our favorite place for bbq in the tri county area. .

Marta P.

Yelp
Terrific food! Every bite of everything on my plate was delicious! The serving was deceptively large. I was full before I finished my plate. The brisket, smoked green beans and smoked mac & cheese was a great combo! I will be back!

Austin P.

Yelp
Thanks for all the great food and fast service. We really appreciate it. Will be back for sure.

Samuel A. Q.

Yelp
Great service and good food. Place is good to chill and hangout. In the summer, might be alittle too hot butnother than that, overall good

Gian O.

Yelp
I'm from Southern California and we don't really have any good BBQ places, nothing that has the same ambiance as this. It felt like I was in a Backyard BBQ and given it was almost the end of the night, it wasn't very busy. The service was great! It was our first time and the cashier was very friendly with us despite our indecisiveness. Our server/bus girl was the sweetest. We had very minor expectations since we were only in Jackson for a night but this place delivered! I thought Texas had the best BBQ but this place makes the crown competitive. If I was to come to Jackson again, I'll definitely come back here.
