Painfully slow service, food was served cold, food quality was rather dull and the entire restaurant needs a deep cleaning. I've seen cleaner bathrooms at truck stops along the highway. I don't understand why this place is so popular or how the health department hasn't cited them.

Really cute place on a shady street in Charlottesville! We all ordered something different and were all pretty happy. I had the Messenger, which was pretty heavy but satisfying. Highly recommended.

We went on a Monday morning for breakfast. The service was prompt and the food came out quickly. The decor is old hole in the wall but clean. I had the grits which were very good. The home fries had a different texture and a little kick. Portion sizes were ok not the biggest and not the smallest. I would recommend it.

That was the worst dining experience I have had in a long time. The only good thing I had at the table was the water. The waitress was pleasant but the food experience was horrible. The food was just OLD. We couldn't eat ANY of the hashbrowns not even the one we tried. The bread was old too and tasted so sugary I could tell at first whether they put salt or sugar in my eggs. The grits were no different the quality was just poor. They attempted revive old grits with a lot of cream. Though highly recommended I would not recommend this place ever. I would caution everyone about the safety of the food. If individuals would dare to serve what they did, then I am sure they don't care about the sanitary nature of how to prepare food properly.

Extremely disappointing. The most bland food I've ever had. The grits are soft rocks and my pancakes were overcooked and bland. We waited an hour just to be fed. In the end I watched a dog get quicker and better service than anyone in the restaurant. At least something enjoys this place.

The food was fantastic. The location is a converted old house, so seating is a bit limited. My wife and I were able to put our name on the waiting list and go browse in some of the nearby shops while a table became available. Our server was friendly and helpful. We will definitely visit again when back in the area.

My husband and I were here for the first time, and seated quickly outside. We waited more than 20 minutes before summoning a waitress, because no one had taken our drink orders, and tables seated after us had already received their food. A waitress was sent over, and apologetic, but when she brought my husband his coffee, it was in the most disgustingly dirty mug I've ever seen - visible coffee stains on the inside and outside; and it wasn't like these were permanent stains, they wiped right off, like there had been virtually zero effort to wash the cup, ever. It made me want to gag. I have never considered leaving a restaurant, but we were standing to walk out when a waiter brought our food. The French toast and pancakes were okay, but our experience was already ruined.

We had to wait for 45 minutes for our waitress to come. We received our drinks and she practically disappeared. We were hungry but we could not eat the breakfast. The place is cozy and small. Probably the food is good (who knows), but the service is not appropriate for a place that wants to serve food to their clients.
