The Pines

We had an exceptional dining experience at The Pines. Occupying a beautifully restored brick home, we found the food majestic and the service impeccable. We ordered: - 40oz Tomahawk (daily special entrée) A+: the best tomahawk I’ve ever tried! - Short Rib (daily special entrée) A: very flavorful and tender - Salmon Sashimi (appetizer) A: melts in your mouth! - Herbed Salmon (entrée) A: rich flavor, flaky and moist texture - Grilled Octopus (appetizer) B+: exceptional flavor but a bit chewy Before tipping, we spent $363 dollars for a 4-person meal (no alcohol, no dessert, only water). We loved The Pines! Highly recommended!

The Pines was a delicious restaurant. I ate their gnocchi and it was amazing. It truly melts in your mouth. They make the dough fresh from scratch. This is the best gnocchi I’ve ever had. The baked Brie was a delicious appetizer that I really enjoyed. It had a nice smoky flavor. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very romantic and high-end. Our server was very attentive. The only downside to this restaurant is they only have two restrooms and I’m not a fan of the gravel parking lot.

Great French onion soup. Leaf of thyme was a nice touch. Gnocchi bolognese that AI recommended here was pretty good, perhaps slightly overcooked as the texture was a bit mushy for me, but the sauce and presentation were great. Definitely a great cozy spot for a classy dinner. Great attentive service, decently decorated as well. I'd put 4.5 if I could!

When here recently after this restaurant changed owners, we were very pleasantly surprised with the incremental updates that they have already done. The restaurant seems a little lighter and brighter, but still with cozy ambience with multiple separate rooms if you’re seated indoors. Our server was very efficient and knowledgeable about the menu. We started off with the bakery appetizer that was outstanding. We ordered the scallops and several of the pasta dishes. Every dish was delicious and got rave reviews from our group. We are happy they were able to transition over with the new ownership and appears there will be some improvements despite how good the restaurant was previously we are very excited to go back soon

Absolutely incredible food. Everything was perfect. The service was over the top. Every single person was great. Our server Brett was proactive and was very welcoming. It was better service than I ever received at places like Ruth Chris, Flemings etc. The rest of the staff was incredibly kind and everything was so quick but did not compromise on flavor and quality. The patio is super cute. This is one of the best places I have ever been to in all the years I lived in Utah and I plan on coming on a regular basis.

The food was fantastic. Had lunch there where we enjoyed some mocktails (blackberry mojito), arugula salad, sandwich, the brie appetizer and more and everything was outstanding. Service was great, food was delicious, outdoor patio was wonderful.

All we can say is wow. The server is what made our day special. He treated us like family and make us feel at home. Never have I been so impressed by such an amazing server. The appetizers were so tasty. We got the Brie with the toasted bread and fruit and the Parmesan bread. The filet mignon…… at first glance the presentation looked like it had been created with so much care and love. In the first bite I swear I felt my soul rejoice and my mouth bounced with flavors the perfect mushroom sauce was smooth and creamy perfect each bite. The mash potatoes were smooth and divine. The mouth watering green beans made me melt after each bite. The tomato soup my wife got was quite possibly the best either of us had ever tasted. The cheesecake right after the meal was absolutely amazing. We were completely satisfied with every part of our meal and couldn’t recommend this place more!! The the mocktails were CRAZY!!! we asked for a fall flavor and a sweet flavor. The fall tasted like fallen leaves. And the sweet one tasted like a summer high.

The food was awesome—everything was very tasty! The plating was creative. Jacob, our server, went above and beyond and made the whole experience outstanding. 150 year old building is cool as well.

An update to my already favorable review of the Pines. After recently dining at the Pines, we brought home some leftovers of a Basque-inspired burnt cheesecake for our son. He effused over how delicious it was, calling it "the best cheesecake he'd ever had!" Forward a week or so ahead: we decided it might be nice to treat our son to more cheesecake for his birthday. Though they normally don't make takeout orders, the restaurant readily agreed to our special request. When we came to pick it up, a gentleman I presume to be the owner or manager generously gave us the dessert with their compliments! We won't soon forget this act of kindness---it exemplifies the exceptional level of service and hospitality that the Pines has cultivated. We will surely return to enjoy more of their excellent customer service and delicious food!

We had a great experience here! The service was excellent, and Mike (our server) was attentive and friendly. The food was delicious across the board. My friends ordered the steak, and even as someone who is very picky, I was impressed. I ordered the Thai Coconut Halibut. It was great, but it could have used more sauce. I would get the Filet and Shrimp next time. We also shared the Parmesan Bread (amazing) & Pesto Escargot (good). The patio is super cute, but it was too cold to enjoy this time. I will definitely be back in the summer to sit outside! One of my friends ordered the Halibut special and did not enjoy it. The website has an old menu on it so I was a little disappointed when some of the items I saw on the website were not on the current menu. The website also does not have an alcohol menu on it so I wasn't sure if they had it. Update: they do.

We had an average time. We arrived as one of the first reservations so I want to cut a little slack here. When we got to our table we noticed that other tables had different settings and an expandable hand towel. We were a bit bummed to not have that same treatment. When ordering we were presented with some specials but unfortunately not all of the specials for that night as the table next to us were told more things that we actually would have ordered had we known. Cutting slack here for being one of the first tables. After food came, I was bummed that the steak and shrimp were just that while my husband has potatoes and green beans. The dish needed more - but needed less garlic in my opinion. The blackberry mocktail mojito was very delicious. I enjoyed my meal but I don't think we will be back. The price was steep for being just a nice cut of meat. Honestly I think we can have the same night and dinner at home for less of the cost.
