We stayed for one night while passing through. Our room had two queen beds and a four-piece bath. The beds were very comfortable, and a buffet breakfast was included — sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns, coffee, tea, and juice — all of which were very good. Staff kept everything well stocked. The elevator, however, was small, old, and a bit rickety. I had my doubts about stepping inside, but it did manage to get us up to the fourth floor without issue. Parking was a real drawback. We had to park up the street in a separate lot, and I was concerned about the security of my vehicle — thankfully, nothing happened. Keep in mind, this hotel is located downtown, where the street scene can be rough, so I was a little on edge. We travelled with our two small dogs, and the pet fee was $20 per dog, adding an extra $40 to the bill.

From the moment we arrived, the reception lady made us feel welcome and valued. Check-in was quick, smooth, and handled with genuine friendliness. She went above and beyond to answer our questions about parking ($8), breakfast (included), gym (affiliation with YCMA) and extra towels. A fantastic first impression that set the tone for the rest of our stay! The location is in the middle of downtown so lots of close shops and things to do in walking distance. When we stayed there was construction going on next door on the street. A few homeless people walking in the area. Other than that good clean and friendly staff.

The layout of the room was awesome, but nothing like the posted pictures online. While I appreciate the historical and heritage value of the hotel, it is showing its age: the room had chips on the walls, cracks on the bathroom tiles, and the bed was not very comfortable. The hotel offers a basic hot breakfast. However, I found a fly in the yogurt during breakfast. The service is great and they gave us towels and pillows very quickly. I appreciate the location as it was very close to everything such as supermarkets, restaurants, and a museum. Despite the centrality, evenings were quiet.

If there are other hotel options, go there. A very tired hotel that looks as bad on the outside as it does on the inside. The "hot continental" buffet was a far cry from that. It was a hot plate with soggy toast, what i think they called sausage and some potato. Oh, and stale cereal. Thats it. There is how ever a nice cafe over the road which serves good breakfasts. I upgraded my room to the suite as i was there for a few days working. The image shown in the advertisement and what I got couldn't have been much further apart. The room also had very strong cigarette smell and in the evening was very loud with street noise. The parking is very small and if you're there after 1700 there are no spaces, so you have to park 2 blocks away or pay the local council. Probably not the worst hotel i've stayed in, but if there are other options available i'd go there.

This was a rough hotel… the first room we got smelled like urine and mold so we asked to change rooms. The second room we got was slightly better, but cleanliness doesn’t seem to be their strong suit… we went down for the breakfast at 6.30am and the dishes and cutlery were not very clean, the creamer for the coffee curdled when you poured it in the cup and the “hot” breakfast was cold with no staff to be found. Would not recommend staying here.

The location is nice, but the hotel itself - not so much. Every single night was incredibly loud with doors slamming, people yelling in the hallways, etc. The front desk doesn’t pick up the phone - the phones in the room are basically for decoration. We didn’t have a visit from housekeeping at any point from Friday-Monday. The toilets are ancient and don’t flush properly. The fridge didn’t work, the AC didn’t work. The lounge attached to the hotel has the worst service I’ve ever experienced. Not only would they take half an hour between table visits in an otherwise dead restaurant, there wasn’t a time we got everything we ordered delivered to the table. They have a parking lot a block away from the hotel with limited spots where, if those fill up, you have no option but to utilize pay parking despite charged for parking during our stay. You’d think during an event weekend they’d have their stuff together a bit better, but apparently not. Will not be staying again.

Good place to stay for one night. Upon arrival it stank of sweat and body odour in the corridors. Breakfast plates and utensils had not been washed properly. They had only been wiped with a cleaning wipe, not a dishwasher. We were charged twice for our stay without good reason. But the rooms were alright. They had a weird setup, two double beds facing each other. The rooms were small but cozy. However our air on was dripping water and we were unable to turn it off. The area is alright. Steer clear of people that seem off. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE NOBLE PIG. The Noble Pig was an amazing restaurant with delicious locally grown food. Walking distance from the plaza.

Loved our stay! Staff went above and beyond insuring our stay was perfect. I really appreciate the fact we missed breakfast and the front desk staff told us to have a seat and they would make us something. Very kind and thoughtful. The almost 100 year old elevator was super cool too! You get exactly what you pay for and it was exact as we expected. I was surprised over the negative reviews. You can tell the new owner is taking the time to upgrade and cares about his guests. Thank you!!! Will be back if traveling through.
