The Best Hotels in the World: 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards | Condé Nast Traveler
"I saw The Plettenberg as a study in seaside intimacy with only 35 rooms and two family villas, decorated in sandy woods and blues that mirror the headland’s panoramic ocean vistas. Located on the Garden Route, the property’s spaces, including Amelia’s dining and an infinity pool that seems to bleed into the sunset, are all designed to maximize the dramatic, 360-degree sea views." - CNT Editors

The Plettenberg (Plettenberg, Garden Route) 2 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels
"Set perched in the rocky headlands above its namesake bay, The Plettenberg’s whitewashed walls house 37 stately rooms and suites that could each play the set to a modern-day Merchant-Ivory film. Though a five-star through and through, it breaks the gilt mold, forgoing decorous opulence in favor of a refined simplicity, the better to frame the hotel’s spectacular views of the mountain-backed sea." - Tablet Hotels
What a beautiful and elegant hotel, in an amazing location. Just spent one night here visiting the Garden Route. Small and very friendly hotel . Staff incredibly helpful and charming. Rooms spacious and elegant. Delicious dinner and breakfast in delightful dining room. From our balcony at dawn we saw a huge school of dolphin herding fish towards the shallower waters for a feeding frenzy with seabirds joining in ! Short stroll down to immaculate beach. Stay here ! I would definitely return.

A top hotel in a perfect position, our view and room was amazing. So spacious and very clean. Staff were wonderful and helpful during our stay. We travelled in October so it was still a little cool especially in the evening so you can imagine my surprise to hop into bed and find a hot water bottle in there waiting for me!! The best surprise ever!!

I stayed here in early September with my wife as the last stage of our holiday. It is a beautiful hotel. Extremely high standards throughout, good food, comfy rooms, stunning surroundings. Most of all the customer service is fantastic and they went out of their way to help us out. A really pleasant place that we hope to return to.

A great hotel in a great location. It is an easy walk into town or along the beach. The "Look Out" bar and restaurant (not part of the hotel) is close by and overlooking the Ocean - great value for money.||The high quality of the hotel, staff and service is apparent on arrival. Nothing is too difficult and our stay was one of the highlights of our time in South Africa.||I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel

We had a wonderful one-night stay at The Plettenberg! The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. The views from our room were incredible. Dinner at Amelia’s was a highlight; the food was delicious and the service was great. The hospitality was really impressive throughout our time there. One small thing: the heated pool could have been a bit warmer. Overall, we had a fantastic time, and we look forward to returning and checking out their sister properties! Highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning hotel, decor is fantastic and the views fabulous. Food was great and service exceptional. It is a little ‘out the way’ but to be honest that was ok and our window rattled slightly (room 27) in the wind but nothing some tissue didn’t fix

Our second time here and only wish we had stayed for 2 nights, as we had forgotten how good it was. Room with a view over the bay, top service and lovely breakfast. This is how all hotels should be !!
