We had lunch here and didn’t need to book as it wasn’t busy. We chose the meal deal at £13, which included a meal and a drink – good value for money. I had the crab fish cake, which was tasty, and my husband had the gammon, which he said was really nice. My drink was served in a can without a glass, which I assume is their standard practice, so I didn’t ask. Recommended if you’re in the area and looking for a light meal.

We came for Christmas lunch, with food ordered and paid for well in advance. Waited an hour to be seated at our table and then waited over half an hour for our starters that only came after asking a waitress where they were. We ended up waiting another hour or so for our mains before giving up and leaving - two or three other tables left with us too who also hadn't been served all their courses. Those that did get their mains whilst we were there, were not impressed with the quality and sent them back. The manager was for some reason unable to give us a refund and there was no communication from the staff throughout, which made matters even more frustrating. A real let down from what should have been a special meal on a special day.

Review only for the pub (dinner), did not stay. Standard pub fare, the food was pretty good and very reasonably priced. The service and atmosphere I'd say was a little weird, felt a bit ghost town. The staff were nice, but felt like they might all be quite new, they seemed to be a bit unsure of themselves. We waited quite a while to get the bill, despite hardly any other customers, but the rest of the service (ordering, drinks, food) were all done in good time. Definitely recommend the steak and ale pie, it was darn tasty.

It's rare that I leave negative reviews, but having just returned from a family meal I feel compelled to share our experiences. We ordered from the set menu. Our main courses took over 50 minutes to arrive at our table. One of our party ordered steak, cooked medium rare as recommended on the menu. Sadly the steak was well done but we darent send it back for fear or a very long wait for a replacement. The garden peas had that tell tale look of having been left under heat lamps for some time, which might explain the woefully over done steak. The mains took so long to arrive that we had finished our drinks, so ordered more. After almost 30 minutes of staring at our empty mains plates we cancelled the drinks, hopeful that our desserts would arrive and we could end this disappointing meal. Alas, it was another 20 minutes before our desserts arrived. To be fair, my daughter enjoyed her main course and we all enjoyed the puddings, but the experience was disappointing on the whole. I don't think we'll be back.

We had to leave our accommodation due to quite shocking reasons (I am not mentioning it here so it doesn't appear on this establishments searches). It was late and harsh weather, but we found this place online. The person on shift: Laurie, said he would keep it open for us. It could not have been better service. He was accommodating and the rooms were lovely! A great place to stay if you're taking a trip to Alnwick.

Arrived late afternoon and hungry. The manager recommended the pork belly Sunday roast and I was not disappointed 😍 room was good for the price. Bed very comfy and easy access to car when I needed to unpack later after arrival and dinner.Car park entrance is a great challenge for all drivers which I passed.Thank you for the hospitality

My first visit here. Clean barman was welcoming. Service fairly slow. I bought an afternoon special £12.00 for a meal and drink. I ordered Fish and chips with a large (pint) soft drink. Presentation of food left a lot to be desired. Fish child size and small'ish portion of chips. I had my fish lightly battered. Fish was bland even adding lemon to it, didn't improve the taste. I would return for a drink, but maybe not food.

Lovely pub grub with knobs on! The staff are bright, attentive & funny. We met a friend of my husband's for dinner here & they really put us at our ease.
