The Plough

Stayed here for a week while I saw family, and it is honestly the most lovely of places to stay. Staff were welcoming upon arrival, showed me around and protocol on how to access the hotel area of the pub once the pub was closed. Each room has its own unique name which is pretty cute, and the rooms looked amazing with such a wide space. Had an en-suite and very comfy bed, could feel no springs. Daily cleaner if you’re wanting new towels or a clean which is nice. The pub was very clean, and bar served a good range of drinks. There’s some local that came in while I was dining, which was nice to see. Food was amazing too, the cheese and bacon burger was a great hit with me. Overall a great place to stay and 10/10 will be going back again in the future.

Me and my girlfriend came in for the Chicken Sunday roast and finished off with the Salted Caramel Chocolate Brownie and ice cream. Lovely food, great service and the staff were super friendly. Will definitely be back again.

We were looking for a restaurant that served fresh, home cooked style meals since we had been eating restaurant style food for the past week while on holiday here. This place did not disappoint. The food was amazing, the staff friendly and the decor is beautiful! Highly recommend the warm Mediterranean salad with chicken.

Came in here for an evening meal and a few drinks with my partners. Friendly, welcoming and hospitable staff made us comfortable and engaged in pleasant conversation with us. The drinks were nice and the place was spotless too. I had the "slow-cooked beef lasagne, red wine & tomato sauce, topped with Cheddar and pesto, dressed salad", whilst my partner had the "double ‘Beyond Meat’ plant burger, smoked Applewood vegan cheese, caramelised onion chutney". Both meals were stunning, well presented and tasted fresh. If I had to be truthful, I didn't find the salad all too great, but it's only an accompaniment to the main dish. A wonderful place with good food, drinks and people. If you're visiting Alnwick, it's a nice place to stop off and unwind.

I stayed for two nights, it was lovely would definitely recommend. Front of house, domestic team were really helpful. The food was outstanding, twelve of us ate and everyone really enjoyed their food, nothing left on any plate. I also had two breakfasts, beautiful wish I could have stayed longer and tried more of the menu!

Recently taking over by a lovely host,determined to up the already high standards. Lovely homemade food. I had the soup. My husband had the burger and the kids had lasagne.All the food was really nice.Beautiful surroundings/decor. Warm and inviting. I would definitely go again. We just turned up without booking around the 16th December. Spacious too, so you weren't too close to other tables. I would definitely recommend.

Nice atmosphere, popped in for the Christmas menu with a friend but was charged significantly more. It was eventually rectified and the food was nice when it arrived. Service with just one person on the bar (Luke) was chaotic, he worked very hard and was professional but was in the weeds for a long while before he got some help. I'll be back to try again when next in Alnwick.

We popped in spontaneously and sat in the bar area. There was a lovely festive atmosphere and a good choice on the menu. We chose Sunday roast - which came with all the trimmings and we loved it! Thank you!
