This is a really lovely restaurant and the food here is great. I had the ham hock and what a tasty hunk of meat it was! My wife had the katsu chicken burger and she said it was one of the best things she had eaten in a long time. The sticky toffee pudding was really good. It had loads of butterscotch sauce which pleased me greatly! I liked the decor and the atmosphere was good and very relaxing. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant!

Went here with my mum for her birthday. The restaurant was really busy (and I was glad I had a table booked). The service was a tad slow and we're were served by no less than 5 different people in our visit. The food however was excellent and I was a nice place to be. Two courses from that part of the menu is £34 which I reasonable. The cost for me was circa £36 (inc drinks) each which again was reasonable for the quality of the food.

What a beautiful place to find on your birthday weekend. Didn't have a booking & it was busy as, nevertheless, the staff welcomed us in, found us a table, & we had the most stunning meal that we've had in a long time. Definitely 1 to search for if your out on your travels & looking a quaint eaterie. Delicious.

My wife and I ordered the Platter to share with a couple of sides. Very good value and ideal for a quick lunch. Lovely second visit with the family, and we all enjoyed something different. Nice and quiet on a Tuesday, which we appreciated having just come from my father's funeral.

Loved the brie starter very tasty and well presented. Thai chicken curry was ok. The sauce was a bit watery and I'm sure the rice was the microwave packet. Ham hock was huge and very tasty. Boxed The leftover to take home. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Dining area was a little crowded and noisy. Limited parking so you may have to park on the main road. But overall a great restaurant and highly recommended and definitely would go again.

Decided to go for a meal with family, and friends, the place Poachers pocket, was chosen. Plenty of parking, and a shop attached, which sells quite a lot of fresh stuff, of which you could buy a lot of. But as to the restaurant, we did arrive about 15 minutes early, and asked for a high chair, as we had a youngster with us. The staff were extremely accommodating and friendly, as we were shown to our table, and given time to browse the menu, as well as asked if we wanted any drinks. We ordered 2 starters, as we were going to share, and good choice, as the starters were delicious, chicken wings, and honey chilli chicken. But for the mains, we ordered scampi and chips, chicken and mash, fish and chips. All of which were perfectly cooked. The scampi was really light and perfectly cooked. We also ordered prawns of which came with garlic butter. The whole experience was a delight in dining. The pizza isn't available until around 5pm, so unfortunately unable to order. Really beautiful time.

Yelp
Tried this last Sunday for a treat and was not disappointed. The exterior alone is worth a visit with its cute old fashioned shop positioned on the main road. The Sunday menu had a great selection with 2 courses £18.99 which was worth it. I had the fresh cod with crab risotto and the desert of sticky toffee pudding with their homemade ice cream and left very satisfied. Staff were prompt, food was well presented and tasted good and overall the venue was nicely decorated with live music being played. Would recommend if you fancy an escape from Belfast!

Yelp
I have been looking forward to visiting the Poacher's Pocket for some time. I have heard many glowing reports and was keen to try it out for myself. I have eaten at it's sister restaurants, Balloo House and The Parsons Nose and loved both so I was happy to complete the hat-trick! The opportunity presented itself with a family double celebration, a 30th wedding anniversary and a birthday. Two great reasons to book a table. The restaurant is based in Lisbane in what used to be Lisbarnet House and is really quaint with quirky interiors. The staff are friendly and helpful, quickly offering to stash the surprise cake that I had brought along. We were presented with two menus, one for Sunday lunch and one for the weekend brunch options, both offering plenty of choice. Regular readers will know that I am a big fan of splitting starters when I cant decide so my first mission was to get someone to agree to share. Mission accomplished, we chose to share the Chicken liver parfait with rhubarb chutney & sourdough bread and the Goat's cheese crostini with candied walnuts & honey. The goat's cheese and rhubarb combination worked really well but for me, the winning choice was the smooth, creamy flavoursome pate- delicious. For my main, I played safe and chose the roast beef- always a good choice for Sunday lunch. A huge portion of beef appeared in front of me along with a sizable Yorkshire pudding and plenty of roasties. A variety of vegetables came on the side. While this was delicious, I will admit that the quantity on the plate defeated me. Another popular choice at the table was the shellfish linguine, prawns, crab, cockles and chorizo cream- jam packed with flavours. While I was too full to order a pudding, I managed to procure a spoon to sneak a taste of both the selection of icecreams and the Buttermilk Panna Cotta, strawberries and cookie crumble- delicious! If you are looking for a great quality Sunday lunch with fabulous food and a great location, look no further. Give the Poacher's Pocket a try!

Yelp
In our short stay in Co Down we went to this restaurant twice because the food was excellent and the staff incredibly efficient and friendly. Great daily specials, reasonable prices and every dish we ordered was delicious.

Yelp
Call in, if you are in the area or when out on a sunday drive. I went here for Sunday dinner with the family there were around 10 of us. The menu was appetising with a nice selection of fish, fowl and beef. I had the Rockvale chicken which was nice, my Mum had the salmon and thought it was just ok, the rest of the family had the Hereford beef and were all very pleased with it. It was very busy, so you would be wise to book beforehand. Service was fast and efficient. Lovely bright interior at the back, there are snugs at the front of the restaurant for smaller groups. They have a good selection of local beer and also have beer and curry evenings on, which I am very tempted to go to.

Yelp
A group of us were royally treated at the superb Poachers. We had a mixed platter to share followed by roast chicken and cheese and biscuits to finish. Great atmosphere and service. A wee gem
