Positives:
- Excellent location. Within a few minutes’ walk, you’ll find São Bento Station, Livraria Lello, cafés, bars, restaurants, shops, and many other attractions in the old downtown area. There’s also a bus stop (line 601) just 3 minutes away that takes you directly to the airport in a little over 40 minutes. Overall, public transport access from here is very convenient.
Areas for improvement:
- The reception hours are quite limited (from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). I never got to meet anyone from the reception since I would leave before 8 a.m. and return late at night. One of the days, I couldn’t enter the hostel because the access code wasn’t working. I had to contact the support number on WhatsApp, and after several minutes, the issue was resolved — but it would have been much easier with longer reception hours.
- The Wi-Fi connection is quite unstable. It works well for a few minutes, but then becomes very slow for several more, which can be uncomfortable for people who combine work with travel.
Final recommendation:
- Go to Porto — it’s a magically beautiful city! No matter where you stay, you’ll love it. Still, I personally think The Poets Inn offers very good value for money.
