The Point styles itself as a 4* hotel. But it is not. ||The Reception staff and the morning breakfast staff were excellent: happy to help and smiles all round. The rest need training. A lot of training. ||We arrived on Monday, late afternoon, and as it is a long drive from Cape Town, we decided to eat in the Restaurant. We were the only customers. We ordered a steak and a butter curry. At 1825. It arrived at 1920. Jill had asked for a roti, and got white rice, I asked for a 200gm Rump steak. The steak was wedge shaped. So part was overdone, and part was rare. There was also a huge, thick lump of inedible fat. Jill's butter curry was good, but was it Gluten free? And were the Roti, when they came, as she finished her meal, made with gram flour as they should be? And they wanted to charge us extra for something we did not get until it was too late to eat!! Yeah, right!!||I mention the Gluten free as we had booked in April and we were told by email, in May Gluten Free would be available. Two days before we were due to arrive, the Catering Manager rang and asked me what counted as Gluten Free? My wife is a Coeliac and so Gluten is a poison to her, and you do NOT want to know what it does to her digestive system. Two days!!! Fortunately, I was a Medical Allergist and had several leaflets I could send her giving her full information on Gluten. She asked for it to be sent to the hotel's general email address, not her personal one, and she neither acknowledged them, nor contacted us, during our stay, and we do not know if she even read them!! ||I have to say, the general manager did inform me that he tells the kitchen not to buy wedge shaped steaks: obviously they do not take much notice. He also Comped us the meal, and a bottle of good wine, so that was good PR. Talking of wine, I asked for a glass of Shiraz with my meal, but they had run out and Merlot was the only glass of wine on offer. Well done again, beverages and catering manager. And Jill's Gluten Free bread with the breakfast?? It never appeared. On The Wednesday two, small rusks appeared, Thursday through Saturday a roll and a muffin came. ||There is a lot more I could mention, towels, Lack of individual vanity items, and dressing gowns, don't ask about the pillows Balcony door off the rail and could not shut, but I would run out of space. Just remember it is not a 4* hotel, Ok as a B&B ||I had pictures to prove my point but nowhere to post them
