Stayed here just one night for a wedding and very much enjoyed my stay! The little bit of extra parking was very helpful. Loved the service at the bar and the breakfast was SO yummy with fairly quick service. The bed was beyond comfy and while the rooms are small, they make up for it with the charming historical decor, strategically placed chairs/luggage racks. And you can't beat the proximity to the rest of downtown. Would love to go again for a cute weekend get away!

We loved everything about the Pollard! The Marli Restaurant, the gorgeous room, the staff, our beautiful Thanksgiving Buffet, and the staff was there at every turn helping and so friendly. They made our stay the best we’ve ever had visiting our son who works on the mountain. Peace and love to all the staff! ❤️ Oh yes, how can I forget we had a ghost experience the first night! The chandelier over the bed came on around 2am in an amber glow for about 6 seconds and then went off.

If I could give a higher rating than 5, I would! The hotel property was lovely. The attention to details very noticeable. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The restaurant on the property is amazing….the best breakfasts maybe ever! Great location in this charming mountain town.

Amazing stay! Additionally the restaurant below was excellent and delicious (get the sausages and lattes and freshly made donuts! ) Also was impressed with a quick, sweet and lovely waitress (I think, Rossilynn)! Best waitress in town! Made the best latte and always on top of everything with all my requests. Great experience! Worth checking out even just for the restaurant !

Could not have had a better trip to Red Lodge this weekend. Our stay here was perfect. Fantastic and historic room was just what we were hoping for. The Pollard is in the perfect spot to walk to everything in town. Great, great place to stay!

If you read no further than this first sentence, I’ll say right now: STAY HERE! … For those of you still reading, I elucidate: I’ve stayed in historic hotels from coast-to-coast; the Pollard is tops. Last month, Travel+Leisure reported Red Lodge being named America’s most charming small town. The Pollard is the literal center of Red Lodge—a grande dame that whisks you back to the turn of the 20th century when you enter the elegant, intimate lobby. You half-expect to see past guests “Buffalo” Bill Cody and “Calamity” Jane Canary. Rooms in The Pollard extend the Old West vibe, yet feature such touches as large-screen HD tv and king beds. (And the gym: spectacular!) Nonetheless, I’d hope to see common amenities such as coffee makers, mini-fridges, and microwaves—at least in some of the suites. But best of all is the staff, from top to bottom, in perpetual motion to make every minute of every guest’s stay a life’s highlight. As to pricing, big bucks in high summer, understandable in Montana’s short tourist season. But go: The Pollard is worth every penny.

Google
This is a beautifully restored historic hotel. The staff was helpful and friendly, the room was lovely and quiet, the bed comfortable and the bathroom modern and pretty. I had a delicious breakfast in the restaurant in the morning, and the free donuts offered at check in made on the premises were also delicious. The town is also very cute!

Google
The history of the hotel is amazing and the atmosphere is awesome. The room we had was very good with one exception the shower defiantly needs more water pressure and the hot water wasn’t working in the morning turned on the water for the shower nothing came out it took 5 minutes of hearing air in the pipes before we got water then the pressure was poor. The day staff was excellent the night shift guy just didn’t have much of a personality. He was rude just not very customer service friendly.

Yelp
You get what you pay for. Not an inexpensive option but if you want to be in the middle of Red Lodge and experience a little snapshot back in time, you will enjoy staying at The Pollard Hotel. Both modern and historic in all the right ways. Very friendly and accommodating staff. We were on a bike trip and didn't have time to check out the spa--but they have a spa! We checked in around 4 pm or so and there were gourmet donuts at the front desk. Complimentary we were told for as long as they lasted. I don't have a lot of life policies, but never passing up a free donut is one of my top 3. Delicious donuts. Side note--we learned the next morning at breakfast that those "free" donuts in the afternoon were only there if the for sale ones didn't sell breakfast. Fair enough. The breakfast in the bar area was excellent. Sad that at least in last 2024, the bar isn't really open as a bar due to inability to adequately staff it. Sucks how much we destroyed ourselves in 2020-2023. Sitting in the bar here having cocktails before going to bed with the ghosts would be so amazing. Highly recommend staying here if you're in Red Lodge (and I highly recommend staying in Red Lodge if you can). I hope to be back.

Yelp
Exactly what we were looking for in a fun cozy weekend trip away from the day to day life. Great place to relax, enjoy Red Lodge and take it slow. The historic building has a charm that I'd prefer over a modern fancy place. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We'll be staying here again.

Juston C.

Yelp
Last night was a little rough. There was an issue with the heater in our room, but things happen. The silver lining to the situation was the care and attention the staff gave us. We were informed before we arrived, and they did everything possible to make our stay great. Honey, the desk attendant, took amazing care of us. This was not our first stay at the Pollard, and it certainly won't be our last! I recommend the experience 100% - and rest assured - if you happen to run into any issues, the staff of the Pollard will ensure you're taken care of.

Lorin C.

Yelp
Excellent older restored Hotel! Service was excellent a little pricey but it was completely sold out due to the Motorcycle festival. Our beds were very comfortable the A/C worked perfectly Just love all the decorations and details to this Hotel. Way better than a new hotel in my opinion.

Sherry R.

Yelp
The Pollard Inn was amazing! Antique room that was beautifully updated and clean, smelled fresh. History everywhere you looked, beautiful wood. The staff was wonderful and helpful. And the restaurant was absolutely fantastic. We would definitely stay here again.

Marnie M.

Yelp
If Sam at the desk doesn't make you feel beyond special, then I don't know who will in life! Clean, cozy and historical , The Pollard has something to offer everyone. Perfectly located in the heart of stunning Red Lodge, the shops and amazing foods at The Marli, Pizza Co , Bogarts, The Carbon County Steak House and Natalis shouldn't be missed. The Pollard sets up the perfect trip when coming to this stunning part of the world-- oh the views! Highly recommend!

Lindsay T.

Yelp
The warmth and history blend for a perfect vacation. I stayed for four nights and melted in the best sheets ever each night. Breakfast at MarlI was equally good. I recommend the waffles!

Wyn R.

Yelp
Great ambiance in a historical hotel. Very quiet for sleeping. Friendly staff! Will repeat if we are back this way.

Yelp
Do you wanted the haunted or the unhaunted room? What? What? And that's how this visit started. Historic hotels, historic anything, are an immediate draw for me. This was no exception. The Pollard is a beautiful hotel, well-maintained, and steeped in the old-style elegance of a hotel from its era. It's a warm and inviting setting. But while the setting, and the architecture are period consistent, the Pollard still has the modern amenities. They do a really nice job with it. The front desk staff are personable and funny. I imagine they can assist with any glitches in a guests' stay -- except for mine. The issue arises when you book on the hotel website. When Red Lodge increased the tax rate, the hotel was and still is, unable to get their website to reflect the new rate. Granted, it is a minor amount, but detracted from what otherwise is a lovely hotel and a great experience. Oh, and as for the haunted room decision: I told them to surprise me, and it wasn't until the next morning I learned I "may" have had the haunted room. Or so they say. Some stories suggest most rooms on the third floor, and the third floor in general, are haunted. I can't say anything happened -- except that none of the lights would turn on. Or when they did, they'd turn themselves off. Skeptical me thinks it was just a short in the wiring or a loose bulb, but who knows?

Ana G.

Yelp
I had spoked to a well informed concierge. But when I asked to speak to her again or get some insight on recommendations it was disappointing. Make sure you know who you want to talk to.

Patrice D.

Yelp
Beautifully elegant historic hotel. We stayed in room 315 which had a comfortable king bed. Everything is well appointed with a mix of modern comforts and historic finishes.

Alicia B.

Yelp
I would have most likely given this a five but for no follow up to my reservation-no one emailed or called. I had to call to confirm. Found out that there was No Breakfast on Wednesday. In fact Red Lodge Wednesday morning is pretty shut down so be aware. Carbon County Steakhouse ( a fave) was also closed Tuesday so ate at Hotel's place- Marli's. Had a pleasant meal. The bison meatball starter was delicious! Good cocktails and desserts and ambiance. My strip steak was delicious and cooked perfectly but needed trimming. We will come back but plan on later week stay.

Linda L.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for historic hotels...in fact, this one's even said to be haunted so enter at your own risk... Ok, just kidding...well not really but we'll get to that later. The hotel itself it quite lovely, vintage and historic in so many ways! It's gone through quite a metamorphosis since the 1800's, but in Sept of '91 the Hotel Company of Red Lodge purchased The Pollard making it one of the finest small hotels of the Rocky Mountain West! The rooms are very nice...we had a corner room on the third floor that overlooked the main drag...speaking of the third floor...there are a lot of ghosts. On our first night we were reading a book about hotels that were haunted in Colorado. Boo! Who would have known that this would have been one of them! So litterateur says that the most activity is in Room 312 (burning smells, etc). We were in 306 and I kept smelling an electrical burn smell...checked all of the outlets but they were good. Ghosts aside, all in all it was an A+ Hotel! Would def come back!

Alice E.

Yelp
What a lovely Historic Hotel, Placed me back in time....The décor was beautiful and well maintained...The bed was so comfortable and the size of that jetted tub was unreal...All the staff so friendly and accommodating... Had breakfast at the Hotel's Restaurant and it was amazing... Right when you think you've seen everything in Montana this beautiful quaint little Town pops up...Can't wait to go back in time again.

Nicole L.

Yelp
Top notch service! Amazing breakfast and super comfy beds! I highly recommend staying here!

Lynne C.

Yelp
Fantastic experience! We have lived in MT for a long time & decided to do a "staycation" and stay at the Pollard. Heather helped us with the arrangements and the accommodations were delightful! The bed was super comfortable and the pillows were great. Owners Tom & Eliza have done a marvelous job with the renovation & the room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. We had breakfast and dinner in the Dining Room and enjoyed that too (as always!) Thanks so much! Lynne & Clay Cummins

Yelp
This is supposedly a haunted hotel. Heard all kinds of stories about it they were very interesting. The breakfast was good. Had a hard time staying in the rooms though because they've been retrofitted for modern amenities. The ceilings were low and the HVAC system seem to be blowing musty air. The downstairs was super cool and it's worth a walk around. Wouldn't ever stay here again.

Frederick D.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this hotel, which is a luxurious lodge set next to the foothills of Yellowstone. All the art hanging on the walls and unique the iron animal pendulums are for sale, and boy did I want to buy those pendulums. The room and beds were very comfy and the breakfast was phenomenal. Service was great. We parked in the lot adjacent to the Hotel which was for hotel guests and very convenient. Unfortunately on a Tuesday night there wasn't much happening in Red Lodge as far as events were concerned. Nevertheless, it was worth booking here as it was proximate to Billings by one hour. We had planned to drive up the Beartooth pass which was open but was still seeing snow drifts and opening / closing daily in late June, however we had to be in Bozeman by Noon the following day so not quite enough time to make that journey. The top of the pass can be reached in 2.5 hours drive. I hear the pass cut through 20 ft walls of snow. Would have been cool to see that.

Rick C.

Yelp
Nicely renovated historic hotel on the main thoroughfare of Red Lodge. The location of the hotel was ideal with short walking distances to numerous outstanding restaurants including Piccola Cucina at Ox Pasture across the street. I listed below the Hotel's description of its amenities. The Pollard, a historic hotel built in 1893 and located in the heart of downtown Red Lodge, has changed since Buffalo Bill and Calamity Jane stayed here at the turn of the last century. Completely restored and reopened in 1994, the hotel has 39 guest rooms and suites, some with hot tubs or balconies. It also has three meeting rooms that can host groups of up to ninety. The dining room offers an award winning wine list and serves breakfast and dinner. The Pub at the Pollard offers casual dining with a pub atmosphere, and dinner, microbrews, great wines by the glass and a full bar. A full health club and sauna are available for our guests and $10/day for visitors. The hotel is minutes away from world class fly fishing, hiking, river rafting, bicycle riding and horseback rides. In winter, the Hotel is a short six mile drive away to Red Lodge Mountain Ski area. In summer, Yellowstone Park is 69 miles away over the scenic Beartooth Highway. The Pollard is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Yelp
I stayed for a couple of days in Red Lodge and was so glad to be able to stay at the Pollard. The reservation process and check-in were seamless and there was zero drama. I was attending a meeting and the Pollard staff were friendly and accommodated all of our needs (firm pillows, ibuprofen, appetizers, etc.). The rooms were quaint and exactly what you would expect from a historic hotel--I loved it. The food at the Pollard (breakfast, lunch, and dinners) was great and service was equally awesome. You will not regret staying at this property. There were a number of projects underway during my stay, and it's obvious they are continuing to improve the property, but not at the risk of losing its historical value.

Ellen C.

Yelp
We've stayed at The Pollard many times and have never been disappointed. The rooms are always clean and the staff (maintenance, housekeeping, restaurant, front desk) is so friendly! Kat was working the front desk this morning and when we came down for coffee at 7:00 she was keeping herself busy washing windows and glass. Maintenance even stopped to turn on the fireplace for us. That's dedication.

Christie T.

Yelp
Old classic hotel. Clean, nice and quite. Great location for red lodge. On negative for me was bed was bit hard but I'm used to fluffy beds. Super great staff along with Watress in restaurant for the highly recommended breakfast.

Mike R.

Yelp
Very cool old time hotel located in Red Lodge Montana. I'm not sure how old it is, but it's old. That being said, the rooms have been updated enough to be comfortable, and still keep the old time feel. There is a bar attached to the hotel also. We didn't stay long enough too use the amenities, but I will make another trip back here, and will stay here again.

Joe S.

Yelp
the hotel is definitely steeped in history. the town is surrounded by amazing mountain views and the beartooth highway is not to be missed. definitely try the little restaurant downstairs.. the brunch will not disappoint, reasonable prices to match!

Tom P.

Yelp
We are in the process of building a home in red Lodge and will be living in town for 4 to 6 months this summer. We chose the Pollard because it was a classic and historical hotel that we heard a lot about. We were told they had upgraded many of the rooms in the hotel. We would've given this place one star except that the breakfast was very very good and the wait staff (Connie) very very nice and accommodating in the restaurant We checked in the evening and they were not very busy. We asked the desk clerk if we could be upgraded to a little bit larger room. She said that was not possible because we booked through booking.com. Which really sounded ridiculous. She told us booking would not let them upgrade our room and we would have to call booking if we wanted a larger room. Again ridiculous. We reluctantly went up to the room. The room was extremely small and very drafty due to the older windows which didn't close all the way. The temperature outside was well below zero. It literally took 5 to 10 minutes for the hot water to kick in. At first, we didn't think we are getting any hot water and when I called the front desk the lady told me to be patient it will heat up. I asked for a manager and she put me on hold and no one ever came back on the line. I hung up the phone and no one ever called back. After they told us they couldn't upgrade the room initially, when we checked in, she asked if we wanted to pay five dollars per person for breakfast. We took the deal but they could've very easily accommodated our breakfast in lieu of a room upgrade. (Which was entirely possible) I've traveled in business for over 35 years I've never been told that a booking company would prohibit hotel from upgrading our accommodations. It may have been a new employee but again they did nothing to make our stay more comfortable even after we complained about the condition of the room, the cold water, and lack of response. We will likely not come back.

Bud H.

Yelp
The entertainment in the Pub was wonderful and fun, "The High Country Cowboys" But unless you were a local you didnt get waited on, if you ordered food you were waited on but we were not even offered a food Menu!

Randy P.

Yelp
What a cool place to stay. We just spent one night before we headed into Yellowstone National Park. The rooms were very clean the furniture was old fashion wood almost Victorian style look to it. There is no coffee or tea in the room but they have a room in the main lobby area where you could get your free coffee and tea anytime of the day. Parking is not the easiest but in a small town it's not that far to walk if you have to park out on the street somewhere. Breakfast comes with the room and it was all good except for the crab Benedict (nasty)

Colleen B.

Yelp
A wonderful place to stay with a well preserved historic hotel. The staff are wonderful and it has the best gym I have ever seen in a hotel. 2 Raquetball courts and amazing weights and cardio equipment. I would highly recommend The Pollard as a full service hotel in the Red Lodge area.

Flyer 7.

Yelp
Wonderful historic hotel. You will take a trip back in time at the Pollard Hotel. This is our second visit and we enjoyed both stays. The room that I booked this year was smaller than the room we stayed in last year. I asked if I could move to a similar room as my previous stay and they gladly accommodated me at no additional charge. We love the balcony room with the jacuzzi tub. The staff are friendly, accommodating, and always willing to help. We will certainly be back again.

Jessica H.

Yelp
This place was amazing!! I loved the warm feel and history. Bed was comfy and clean rooms. The staff was beyond amazing!! From the ladies at check in and out to the staff at the restaurant. The food was also amazing. We loved everything about this place. Already planning out next trip back!! Thank you!

Eric E.

Yelp
I recommend for someone passing through town. Lovely old well-maintained hotel with interesting history and friendly staff. Exterior room we stayed in was quite small; bathroom small enough to discourage shower. A friend staying in interior room said theirs' was spacious, with balcony opened to hotel lobby. No refrigerator in our room, but staff put what we wanted refrigerated into hotel fridge. We had a delicious breakfast chosen from a broad menu.

Tiana T.

Yelp
Great little hotel right in the heart of town. They also put more thought into the rooms than most. They sprung for the widespread faucets and upgraded hardware throughout. The balcony was a really cool touch as well. We were VERY happy with the food (both dinner and breakfast) The steak was amazing and cooked the way is was ordered. The Eggs Benedict were also made perfectly. I wish they would have put a bit more into the decor but I have nothing to complain about.

Stew H.

Yelp
The Pollard is a great place to stay in Red Lodge. Very comfortable room, breakfasts were wonderful. Staff are incredible at making you feel welcome and appreciated! The gym in the basement has everything you need to meet your exercise routine. I wasn't able to use the racquetball courts but what hotel have you stayed at that offers this recreational activity!

Blaine B.

Yelp
Our second visit to the Pollard and there's a reason. Beautiful hotel in a great town! The hotel is old but extremely well maintained and clean. The rates are fair. Located in the center of town so exploring is easy. Eat in their restaurant and if Barry is working, ask for his section. One of the most attentive, personable server we've ever had. Excellent food although kind of a small menu. A "destination" location and we'll be back!

Al P.

Yelp
Really nice historic hotel in downtown Red Lodge. My wife and I stayed here for three nights this summer and were very pleased overall. The rooms are clean, and the staff is very friendly. The restaurant downstairs is really nice. The included breakfast was awesome and the service was good. We'll come back here next summer for sure.

Erin S.

Yelp
Tiny, outdated rooms & terrible food. Don't be fooled by pictures online. Some rooms are larger, but we could barely walk around the bed. Cute town

Pat D.

Yelp
This hotel is as lovely and charming as it gets! It was refurbished and modernized from head to toe in 1997 but they still maintained the original charm. The exquisitely detailed wood working extends to all the rooms as well as the lobby. The antique furniture, tiffany lamps, and overstuffed comfortable chairs all add to the charm and ambiance. We spent a little extra to get a "Queen Suite", but it is well worth it. A queen suite features a giant Jacuzzi in the bathroom, extra sitting area, and a balcony overlooking the fireplace lobby, with a bistro table and chairs. The price is still quite reasonable since it also includes a full sit-down breakfast for two in the wonderful restaurant, ordering anything you want from the menu. We drove 850 miles to get to Red Lodge, but it was well worth it. We wanted to get away for Christmas and our 45th anniversary, and this lovely town and hotel were the perfect destination. The town has many shops and art galleries and is decked out for the holidays. There are some interesting driving destinations nearby such as the ski lodge and the old abandoned mine where 79 people died in a cave-in in 1943. The hotel is located on the corner of the main street within walking distance of all the shops and activities. The hotel was built in 1897 and was a favorite of Buffalo Bill Cody and Calamity Jane. The bank across the street was robbed by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Sherry J.

Yelp
Wild West Charm with Luxurious Updated Style Red Lodge is a favorite summer destination, but this old-time (1890's) hotel should be a year-round enticement! If you love to work out, you'll be enticed by the racquetball courts and high-end fitness center. In the winter, check out the local family-friendly ski areas. In the summer, there's a world-class motorcycle rally and miles of hiking and biking to explore. Easily distinguishable from its red brick construction, the Pollard Hotel is your home base for exploring the best scenery in Montana. Because they make a point to treat the guests like one of their own, you'll feel pampered. The well-appointed rooms are spacious, beautifully appointed, and quiet. Although there are great restaurant choices within walking distance, all you need to do is walk downstairs for the best meal in town at the Pollard Pub. I met a lot of locals who dine there regularly. That speaks volume for the quality and value. Don't miss out on the opportunity to explore Wild West history, Yellowstone, and Beartooth Highway from your comfortable start at the Pollard! Famous guests: Calamity Jane, Buffalo Bill Cody, William Jennings Bryan Historical fact: Owing to the bank located on the premises, hotel guests were witnesses to the Sundance Kid and his gang attempting to rob the bank following their jail break in South Dakota.

Luke S.

Yelp
We have stayed at the Pollard dozens of times over the years. This was the worst experience we've ever had. Typically service is fantastic, and its fair to expect great service because this is not a cheap hotel. Restaurant was grossly understaffed and inefficient.

Virginia B.

Yelp
Very nice rooms. Wonderful dining room breakfast and walking distance to Arts Guild and museum, etc. A bit pricey for Red Lodge, but worth it. Accomodating staff.

D H.

Yelp
What a great place to stay! The room was CLEAN, the people were super friendly, the food was amazing! Had a steak skillet for dinner with truffle butter, delicious, and a different skillet dish for breakfast, just as good. DO NOT SKIP THE DONUTS! And we were even there while they had live music, High Mountain Cowboys I think was the name. Very tight group, so good, and so much fun. Great location right in the center of town.

m h.

Yelp
A terrible value for the money. We spent 350 a night and got a room with no windows facing the inside of the hotel. It was like a dark smelly cave. They did not make up the room. And when we did have no not disturb on the door someone literally barged in the room while we were sleeping. There is no temperature control. The sheets are like sandpaper. And while breakfast was included we were told the restaurant was full and you needed a reservation. This place is the worst.

Polly B.

Yelp
Clean that's really all that matters to me. Decent service. Pretty outdated in room decor Spacious bathroom I would definitely stay here again and recommend to a friend!

Sabrina J.

Yelp
I like that this is a historical hotel, you can tell by the decor - it is updated so don't worry. The desk service was really nice and had great recommendations for local eats. The breakfast (which by the way is free with your room voucher) French toast, fruit parfait & bagel Lox was delicious. Best French toast I've had in a long time. I gave four stars because the walls in our room (queen Victorian) were thin so we could hear our neighbor's cough and laugh as well as his program on TV. needless to say it was annoying when trying to go to sleep.

liz m.

Yelp
We had a great night here. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. The decor was outdated, but it was fine. Breakfast was spectacular. Everyone loved the meal. The service was great and the waitress was kind enough to give my 4 year old a pb sandwich.

Drew R.

Yelp
For $270, I would've expected more from a hotel room. Like something as simple as a fridge or microwave. There were some unpleasant stains on the couch in the room and the breakfast was a bit subpar with hash browns burnt and so salty it burned my tongue to eat. The best part of the stay was the Bloody Mary. I'd stop in for another one of those.

Bean B.

Yelp
Great, historic hotel in Red Lodge. We had a very simple, clean room but we could've used a couple more pillows. We were given complimentary breakfast coupons for their restaurant. Sadly it was our 4th day of oatmeal! Vegan options are limited in this area but it was by far and away the best oatmeal! :) We reserved one of the last regular queen bed rooms which was priced around $140/night.

Marci C.

Yelp
This is our favorite place to stay in Red Lodge. It's full of history and character as the oldest Hotel in town. If you appreciate that kind of thing - then you will want to stay here. The rooms are quaint and comfortable. Don't expect a grand Hilton fancy experience. This is a home away from home type of place that is warm and welcoming! Be sure to check out the restaurant the Vintage One Bistro located inside the hotel. The food is good!

Bryan L.

Yelp
Cute hotel with bed and breakfast feel. Decent gym in basement with lots of equipment. Friendly staff and good food on site.
