Spending a couple of nights at this lovely village inn with my two doggies. The accommodation was exceptionally clean, spacious and had an absolutely stunning view.||The food is also exceptional highly recommend eating here, service was excellent too. Thank you will definitely be visiting again.

When I arrived it was obvious the pub had had a recent makeover and was very fresh. Went inside and booked in easily and was shown to my room. On the way through we passed through the restaurant which was twice the size of the pub and came as a big surprise with a great view over the fields. Anyway, I put my stuff in the room and went down for dinner. The menu, though not big, had quite a few things on that I was happy with so ordered the Steak and Ale pie. 20 mins later and I was indulging in the best pie I've ever had in any pub. Meal finished, I went back to the bar which was now quite lively with locals and holiday makers alike. Slept well and down for my full English breakfast. Again very well presented and full of flavour. Win Win all round and at £72 at the height of the season, you'd be mad to think any different. Definitely recommend.

went there for an evening meal and stay the night, but no staff were available to sell me a room, except the chef who was clearly too busy and tried to overcharge me. I stayed for dinner and enjoyed the beer, the lamb shank and the amazing views from their newly opened terrace overlooking the garden and the downs. I was sold by the reviews of home cooked food. I am not so sure how home cooked the lamb was, it was fall off the bone, but the texture and the meatiness was questionable. The broccoli overcooked. But the evening light and the view made up for it. I would come again for a second opinion. The meal gave me sustenance to continue my journey. They missed out on £80 for accommodation and a hearty breakfast and I think I am the winner there.

The absolute best Sunday lunch! Our family ordered 3 different meals and the carvery was the best!. Everyone else had order envy. We loved the sticky toffee pudding, really good. Everything was hand/homemade. Would have given 5 stars if everyone adored their meal as much as I did. Dogs allowed in the bar area. Definitely recommend.

Stayed in Poppy room, which is one of the chalets. This was a lively room with amazing views out across the Devon countryside. The room was very well equipped, with a lovely very comfortable double bed. The room was lovely and clean and so peaceful. We will definitely return. We had an evening meal there with my husband ordering from the gluten free menu. The food was nice and the service was excellent.

The staff were great, they would help where they could. The breakfast was nice and the food was good, the room we stayed in was a little small but we did have two dogs with us. The position was central so we could travel to both sides of Devon, all in all a great time had by all. Ps the honey farm nearby is a great visit.

I stayed two nights at this charming old gastro-pub. All staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. A cooked breakfast was included in the room rate. The views from the restaurant are lovely. I couldn't fault my clean, tidy room, except perhaps for the absence of a hanging space. However, the chest of drawers was ample. I highly recommend the inn for a laid-back relaxing stay!

Such an amazing place to stay. The lodges are fantastic. I was there for work an overslept every morning because it was so peaceful and the beds some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Because I slept so well I unfortunately missed the breakfast everyday which looked fantastic. I really, really want to return there for a holiday when not working. The area is beautiful, hardly any traffic, dark, dark skies at night for star gazing, fantastic village shop. Just a great experience all round. Bathroom was great with a good shower and lovely towels with plenty of nice toiletries. I won't go on but please try this place as I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

Stopped in around 3 on a Monday. They stop serving food at 2 but she offered to put together items that didn't need cooking. Said she could make the nachos so we decided on that. Very friendly and nice atmosphere. Nachos were great and chips were fresh. Beer was cold and good. Not from the area and just here on holiday but would come back if in town again for dinner.
